Successful season ..A+ development and rebuilding… Although the loosing was disappointment and was unwatchable for a stretch ..mission accomplished
The team just needs to get a big man will be a tough choice between Derik queen, Kaman malauch , Asa newell, & Colin murray boyles as they could be in play for them at any position they fall in 👍
I'm optimistic. With potent reinforcements on the way + a great Coach in Darko and some great rookies, things are looking up.
You said, "Shamelessly benches starters.." When in reality, they weren't shameless enough. As an organization, your no.1 goal is to acquire the best talent possible, and you maximize that by getting more ping-pong balls. When the opportunity presents itself, you go hard for it. Short-term pain for long-term gain
The outlook coming into the season was truly bleak as there was little NBA-level depth to support the starters on the existing roster. Then a miracle happened: three draft picks plus an undrafted invitee to the summer league team all hit and played significant minutes throughout the season. Has that ever happend before in the league? Usually successful overhauls also include trades/free agent signings. The team had managed to replenish itself without giving up any core pieces. This is what makes the upcoming draft so exciting and optimistic for me.
I'm optimistic in the sense that they might've aced the 2024 class, but I still maintain that unless those guys are starter level of players, I find it hard to believe there's a competitive 2nd round team or better with this core unless they really lucky with Cooper or maybe Harper
Esfandiar, you seem like a nice guy, but often in my opinion you display very bad judgement & poor takes on the Raps.
Your six positive takes on the Raps are more like six delusional bad takes. Were you smoking crack before you made that post?
1- About the draft. Yes the Raps had a good draft, and that helps the Raps depth, but please don't confuse/overrate role players as being foundational pieces. They are good, but not that good, lol.
2- RJ, has been good, no doubt about it. However not good enough to win a team a championship, or for how much his cap hit will be on his next contract. They type of player who is just good enough to make a team mediocre. That is why he will be hard to trade, especially with the stricter cap rules.
3- Good defense? This must of been when the crack really started to hit you, lol. Where do you see this great defensive potential when you look at next years starting line up? Scottie is a very good defender, Poeltl is an average defender who is not as good against the better NBA teams. Ingram, IQ, & RJ, are not good defenders. And Gradey may start, or be the 6th man, he is also a poor defender. You casuals got fooled on the Raps defensive potential because of 2 things.
The starters were often rested, or injured. As a result the bench who are better defenders than the starters often started, which improved the D. When the Raps go back to their starting line up, not much defensive potential there, and that is a reality check.
This was a really bad season in the NBA in general. Many teams decided to tank early. As a result we were often playing teams at their worst most carefree self. As a result the Raps being a very undersized team, were not being exposed often for, their less physical undersized players. They won't get away playing Mogbo at center, and Ochai at SF, next season.
Finally in this terrible NBA season full of teams not very motivated to play hard, … The Raps were full of young players very motivated to play for their spots on the team. As a result the Raps played harder than most other teams.
4- Scottie? Sure Barnes D improved a lot, but his offense did not, in his 4th year. Also after 4 seasons it is time for you guys to recognize that Scottie has a low motor, and that will always limit him. He is a good player, but that is it. Time to stop deluding yourself, what you see is what you get. Time to wake up.
5- Wing rotation? You were not completely accurate. Many of the players you mentioned are SG'S, not SF's. Many were played at the SF position but are not SF's, and were playing out of position. IQ is a sg, not a pg, and he will never be a pg. RJ's real position is sg, and he is too much of a liability if you play him at sf. Ochai is a sg, too small to play SF. Gradey is a sg, not strong enough to play SF. Etc, etc … Walter is a sg.
So basically the Raps have 5 decent sg's. And yet that is 3 too many. And yet dumb not visionary Masai, signs another guard in Lawson, WTF? How will you play 6 sg's, lol. We are capping out the team at 1 position. And a good chance we may have to draft another guard this draft. That is not being a visionary, that is being an indecisive hoarder.
6- Darko a good coach? WTF were you watching? Pizza parties? Masai a visionary, lol. What were the headlines after most Raps wins … "Team X outanks the Raps". Masai tried to tank but his indecision even led him to failing at that. Darko played his stars big minutes to beat teams who were trying to lose, go figure?
-Esfandiar, I have to thank you. After watching your video, I have decided to stop taking drugs, wink, wink!
