For better or worse the current Blazer watchword is patience. I think that can be frustrating, but you only have to look at this year’s Suns or our own JailBlazer era to see what teams are created by impatience.
Before the post-allstar surge I would have gone 🤦♂️ (and maybe 🖕) to hear Billups would get an extension. After the season is over I may not be jumping for joy but willing to be tentatively satisfied with it. If they play the whole next season the way they played the last forty-ish games I see them in the playin in about a year from now.
Let’s just extend Ant at this point😂 this team is not winning anything meaningful for another half decade

I'm a long time listener but I am just irritated and pissed with the blazers resigning Chauncey turn extension when two fantastic a-list coaches are on the market
Mike, you are way more positive than I. This team didn't beat any good teams, and that was with most of the good teams they played sitting their stars. The offense looks like junk. Scoot is still on the bench, as would Sharpe and Cling if not for injuries. Sharpe still can't shoot or dribble and Clings offense is MIA. Let's see the team actually do this BEFORE the All Star break, not just 10 games before the break ( and by the way they lost 10 of 15 after that 10/11 streak when the schedule wasn't charmin soft).

Looks like they're committing to absolute mediocrity. Look out for a fat extension for Ant and a trade of Scoot or Shae next followed by another year watching Grant/Ant/Ayton suck up all the minutes and shots. Yay.
I love everyone talking shit about chauncy but i dont mind the hire at all you never know how players will react to a new coach then that starts the cycle of hiring and firing multiple coaches if the players like him that what matter not what the fans want
Also jerami grant seems like hes gone already his post season interview was basically him talking about his agent

This is the most reasoned take I've seen on Billups, not glossing over his failures but also giving credit where its due. I'm optimistic and excited for next season, but anything less than 45 wins and making the play-in has to be the floor next year. Shae needs to decide if he wants to be a superstar or just a guy.

Telling that other teams are interested in Billiups. I like a players coach and the best are usually former players. In the later part of the season, just an eye test, you could see the excitement on the the bench and on the floor. Playing for Portland was fun! I was dreading this season.
Ayton and Anthony Simmons need to leave and be replaced by a quality center and point guard.

Those Dame teams missed on the draft, specifically the Zac Collins draft. Olshey would make bandaid type deals, trades that would keep the boat afloat… they never added significant talent after CJ.
Cronin and Billups have earned their extensions. Their moves have been solid it it’s paying off.
My concern is the blazers rush the process. My hope is they go young next year, with the guys they’ve drafted or traded for- they are vets now. Scoot will be year 3 for example. Let’s get better, not worry about playoffs.
The Billups extension was depressing, not deserved. Cronin is fine, but also not thrilled..
We have some great young talent, but the leadership and coaching on this team is pathetic.
The celebrating being done during that Presser for four years of garbage and a 36-win season is also very depressing. I cannot wait until this team is sold, if ever…
I feel sick
Don’t always agree with Mike, but always appreciate his takes. Maybe I’m too much of an optimist, but I think we are going to make a turn for the better next season with many reasons to be happy again. Everyone was a CB hater for 6 seasons as a player. People gonna be eating crow again imo for hating on him as a coach.
I’m ok if we go playoffs next year if we’re able to trade grant and a few vets for some early draft picks in the next 2 years… I’m ok with winning if it’s with just the young core
CB main test this summer is to find at least one assistant that can complete his weaknesses. Appreciate him or not, that's can improve him.
Welcome to three more years of mediocrity, they couldn’t even lose right. Hurray! Their last 25 games they’re bragging about were against sub-.500 teams; much of the early season wins came from the players they should’ve traded last year. This 36-46 record is advancement purgatory.
I understand the fear in repeating mistakes of the past, but I just don't see any similarities between the current situation and the Dame era. That team had Dame. That's the hardest part of any team build. Getting the one guy who is a top 10 player. The unwillingness to take risks to build around Dame is that era's failure. Joe has taken a ton of risks with this team. Starting with trading Dame all the way through getting Deni. Every step is a risk. It would be a risk just to let it cook. This era is defined by uncertainty to this point. Lack of data. The Dame era you had all the data you needed. They knew what was going to happen for multiple years in a row and still no changes were made.
He has done a good job. Pretty simple
hi wild guy here. blazers during 2nd half had 2-3 key guys sitting out every game and still posted those 2nd half stats so im confident in saying 50 wins is obtainable with moderate-good health

I like Billups as a person. Is he the coach we need to advance us into a “playoff run”? Highly doubtful. But as long as the current Ownership stays the same it wouldn’t matter who we bring in as head coach. We will still be stuck in mediocrity. So I’m fine with the re-signing because the Blazers are screwed either way anyway. Go Blazers!
I'd agree, this was the most enjoyable Blazer season since the WCF run. Granted, pretty low bar to get over, but still, i had fun, watched 75+ games for the first time in awhile.
TBH, BlazerVision was a big part of that, finally, streaming without the arrrr matey.
Avdija trade was a bold move(the situation, the price…). I think Cronin is ready to take some risks: It could be on the draft (Schmits suggestion), It could be another bold trade, it could be a surprising unknown player signing (i heard that they are following some players in Europe). I think the roster will change a few but major changes.
The Blazers organization has signaled they aren’t interested in building towards a championship. What they are interested in is being good enough, exciting enough to keep butts in seats, fans buying merch and spending money on the team. The Blazers are a joke of an organization and they are headed straight for mediocrity.
