Kroenke runs the nuggets like it’s a Walmart. Malone deserved a lot more credit and respect.
Great presser! Wasn’t an easy move from ownership, but it seems everyone has the same goals in mind 💯
Denver should be embarrassed to be the only franchise to fail a generational player. In no othrr sports has franchise failed their goat as much as this organization. A decade with no all star teammate?
If this was anyone but Jok that player would have asked for a trade 10 times by now. JOK is too nice to do that but iam sure he is pissed
It's offensive to talk about Booth and Malone in the same way. Malone didn't fail. Booth did. It's also b.s. for Kroenke to act like he had no choice. He absolutely could have fired Booth, sat the players down and said the organization's going back to full accountability, and anyone who doesn't give 100% effort at the deficiencies Malone has called on them to address will be GONE. He chose to mollify the bad actor players rather than back Malone. That's unforgivable, and it's going to come back to bite him. B/c now that they know they can get away with not watching film, not playing D, not knowing assignments, taking time off and not giving effort, coming into camp out of shape, etc., you can be sure that's exactly what will happen. P-Wat and Strawther will continue to fail to live up to their potential and their development will be sub-par. Murray will continue to be unreliably hot and cold, and will continue to have games where his efficiency is so poor, they lose. When the going gets tough, they will get outrebounded, and outworked on defense, MPJ will never fight for anything other than jacking up his own shot. The starters have the potential, but the only two who are 100% reaching theirs are Jokic and Braun. Kroenke chose the wrong side, and took the wrong action. Acknowledging that he should have sat Booth and Malone down a year ago and settled the philosophical differences between the two and told Booth if he let players end-run Malone by whining to him (yeah, I'm looking at you Nnaji), he'd send him packing on the spot, doesn't excuse having sided with Malone over the lack-of-effort players.
Kroenke's statement that: "I need people that are policing the culture and pushing it forward for me on a dialy basis." He HAD someone who was doing that — Michael Malone. What HE needed to do was back Malone up. Instead he chose to undermine him, let Booth undermine him, then choose the players who were defying the culture and work ethic over Malone. Complete FAIL.
Has Denver wasted Jokic's prime?
I would argue this is the beginning of his prime so i would say no, they have not.
I mean basically the team has been ascending for a while with the Jokic/Murray duo but when you study the rise of dynasties, you don't see major injuries to the star players and as they are ascending, Murray misses time.
I understand some nba fans wanting to see Jokic with better teammates but i think the context here is that Jokic, Murray, MPJ, AG, and maybe DJ were probaly the right teammates(along with Brown, Green, CB, and others) but from a cap perspective it's hard to keep a championship team together.
This season isn't over so hard to say Jokic has no chance when he is on a 4th seed with only one true dominant team in the conference, which happens to still be really young and also like Jokic, a one superstar team.
Granted The Thunder are deeper but how they were built and came together is completely different.
I think there is this postseason and next to judge before we make definitive statements.
I feel my fandom slipping away. Josh Kroenke is a tool. He did Malone dirty and is mismanaging the Nuggets and Jokic’s prime.
Kroenke’s move is good but late approximately 11 months.
Josh straight clown 😂😂😂😂 or better yet BOZO 😂😂😂 he really does not get it!!!! So could have keep the nonsense it's over for them I really don't want to say that but it's Reality can not do someone wrong and expect good things to happen to the team life doesn't work that way krama come back to them if he was any kinda of governor he would have done it in respectful way or have a sit down with both of them and team and keep guided lines in order but he went the clown & BOZO route
Great podcast
the gleam in Jokic's eye is entirely observable as a fan!
Players are immature and plain disrespectful. For a coach to call them out in a press conference about not watching film and even slipping out them talking back with "coach is tripping" just really means that Malone lost the locker room. True, it's not Malone's fault but they don't listen to him anymore. If they fired Booth but left Malone around, that would just pressure Malone more and empower players more. Malone is one of the problems, period. He would call out players but he's too scared to bench them. He costed them last year's playoff disappointment. Remember the last game against Spurs that he fumbled hard? Remember game 7 against MIN where he played Jokic about 45 minutes? Those are Malone's fault. He wouldn't play young players nor develop them. He wouldn't want to demand accountability from the players especially the starters.
Why they fired him? Nuggets made playoff
When Jokic got hurt with elbow and ankle was another eye opening moment for Josh Kroenke
I thought Josh did well today. Adam’s question was incredible too. Consistently bringing a unique perspective and digging deeper in his questioning.
Bye MPJ. 👋 Wish you well this summer.
Good dude, but he’s not a good fit for this team. And I actually think he’ll be better off with a new start somewhere else.
W podcast
Stylistically, Malone is a good coach for a young team with no identity… Nuggets are no longer that team.
Also… let's hire Tim Legler as coach.
The gm needs to pick the coach
