Nico will never admit failure publicly, though he may someday think it internally. By that time, he'll be long gone. His 3-4 year window has possibly been whittled down to 1-2 years with Kyrie unfortunate and devastating injury. Maybe we'll suck enough to get some lottery picks. We can dream. 😢
This franchise is finished, until they get a new ownership. Not even firing Nico, Welts and Kidd (whose fingerprints are all over this) will change anything. They have handled everything so poorly. Literally all that´s left for them is to take down Dirk´s statue.

My defense of Nico
Fanbases are not only won by the ability to win championships, but also storylines and players. If you polled mavs fans, majority of them would rather have the 2011 championship than 4 championships without Dirk.

There's two parts of this: the decision to get rid of Luka, and the haul you got back for him. Lets's say part 1 is a given, as stupid as that is, there's no way you can tell me that AD was the best they could get. My team, the Knicks, gave up FIVE first round picks for a guy who averages 17 a game. You cannot expect us to believe this was the best they could get for Luka!!!!
The comparison to monta Ellis is diabolical. Not only is Luka doncic not even in the same stratosphere but in the analogy, mavs would need to draft a Steph curry caliber talent. This contradicts what he said about the Mavs having a championship level team now because of defense. The whole thing doesn’t make sense

Nico and Kidd were never going to give Luka the satisfaction of signing the largest contract in NBA history with the Super Max. Wanted to teach Luka a lesson and show his level of control over Luka for not being "obedient" and submissive.
