Trae Young’s Ejection in 2025 NBA Play-In: A Pattern of Frustration
Trae Young’s ejection during the Atlanta Hawks’ 120–95 blowout loss to the Orlando Magic in the NBA Play-In Tournament on April 15, 2025, was a pivotal moment that drew significant attention due to its intensity and implications. The incident highlighted recurring issues in Young’s behavior and his tumultuous relationship with officiating.
🔚 Conclusion: A Costly Outburst in a Critical Game
Trae Young’s ejection was rooted in a breakdown of composure during a critical stretch of the fourth quarter. After scoring on a floater with under five minutes remaining, Young flung the ball forcefully at a referee—earning his first technical foul. Moments later, he kicked the ball away toward another official, prompting a second technical foul and immediate ejection. These actions fit within the NBA’s definition of unsportsmanlike conduct and left no ambiguity under league rules. Notably, this wasn’t an isolated occurrence. Young has previously faced ejections, including a March 2023 game against the Pacers for similarly aggressive behavior toward referees. Such trends reflect a pattern of emotional volatility, with Young himself having publicly criticized officiating, questioning referees’ impartiality. Ultimately, while his competitive passion is undeniable, Young’s inability to manage frustration compromised his team’s chances and added to growing concerns about his sportsmanship in high-pressure moments.

See how manipulative social media can be!!! He wasn’t ejected on this play, this was the 1st technical. Show the BS move he pulled to get ejected…..
When channels straight up spread misinformation on purpose the only think you should do is hit "do not recommend" and keep it pushing.
Gave the ref a no look pass he wasn’t ready for. Then stole the ball from the ref and got ejected. If the sequences were reversed, he may not have been ejected.
Still bs he didnt deserve a tech for this RIGGED😂
No that was just a good chest pass to the official
I saw the whole thing. He threw the ball to the ref for the 1st T. Ref T'ed him up for throwing the ball to the ref. As Young was walking away, the loose ball rolled up to Young. Young picked it up, a ref wanted Young to throw the ball to him. Young refused. The ref gave him another T. Damned if you do; damned if you don't!
Should have thrown the refs out and kept Young in the game.
Of course he did, he hurt the refs feelings….lol😂😂😂😂😂
