Its also worth noting that the average college span for these basketball athletes is approximately 2 years now. Most dont stay beyond that. I think the NBA minimum should be 2 years and age 21.

Americans aren't good at evaluating fellow Americans. Plain and simple. Too much bias. Between 2010 and 2020, 50% of the ESPN top 5 high school recruits have been complete busts (as in either out of the NBA quickly assuming they got that far or they are a guy like Markelle Fultz just barely hanging around). There is so much more that goes into evaluating a basketball prospect than just how tall they are and watching their mixtape of their fast break dunks in stupid AAU games.
Cody Williams went to high school at Perry in Arizona, and though he was alright, 18 points and 4 rebounds per game for a 6'7" future NBA player? That leaves a lot to be desired. Yet ESPN called him a 5 star and ranked him #7 overall because of his measurables and who his brother is. Then at Colorado he was decently efficient, but he only produced 11 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and less than a steal or block per game for a team that wasn't remarkable despite having 3 current day NBA players on their roster, and somehow someway people were tricked to believe he was a lottery pick type talent. He has not even been a good G Leaguer, putting up 17, 3, and 2 while shooting an abysmal 37% from the field and 28% from deep. This guy has just coasted to where he is thanks to yes men around him hyping him up. I hope for the best for him, but he has not earned what he has and there are dozens of other guys who have, but have been passed up on.
I have a connection to a college coach and I remember him specifically telling me when Cody was a high school senior that he wasn't actually even a top 50 talent in his class, but he was still going to make the NBA as a one-and-done just because of how he is built and who his brother is.

This video is a bad look, I mean we all knew he was a project pick nobody saw him as a star year one with as raw as he is. He's 19 years old with a total of 2 real years elite level basketball behind him let him get to year 4-5 before we say he's a bust
Jalen is built like a tank, Cody is built like a twig. I'm not surprised at all that Cody is struggling mightily in his rookie season against pros who are bigger, stronger, and more athletic than NCAA players

This imo is one of the problems for the NBA, they take chances on very young guys who should stay and play in college another year or two. They haven’t learned the game yet something they could do in college. They rely on their athleticism and physical ability to play well against other young guys but that doesn’t always translate to the NBA. In the NBA where they are play against men for the most part not boys.
We said the same thing about Gsrland and Fox their rookie year.
