The Mavs are done as a team. They are not winning in the near or distant future.
Of course, no one has seen this towards a GM because no one has ever traded away a 25-year-old superstar and on top of that for a lot older injured player.

Luka was the definition of what a franchise player is : loved by the fans, huge potential for wins, spectacular. You don't trade your franchise player. You don't trade MJ, you don't trade Magic, you don't trade Steph etc…
He will regret it eventually. Because he is pretty much unhirable as a GM now. The Mavericks is his last professional job at that level. And he will get fired from it eventually.

Kidd had a hand in this too. Lukas weight and conditioning yeah ok, He does what he wants to do. Drinks probably, Acts like a child. Was up for a huge contract extension moneywise so Ownership was cautious because they're new owners and want to be Extra Careful with their money. Nico saw an opening. And for some reason they thought Kyrie was a better option long term than Luka. Nico also is from LA and knows AD.
Everything that could go wrong went wrong. He went for Big Moves and it cost him his GM job for sure.

There’s an imaginary line that separates a player that is less important than the GM and a player that is much more important than the GM. If the GM can’t get along with that certain player, the GM needs to resign. I am not a Dallas Mavericks fan, but of course this is the worst trade ever.
