Luka lost on defense most times. That means always making his teammates use more energy, which hurts shooting when legs are tired.
Randle is an important player in the equation. Lakers have to put their main man Bron to contain him, but that leaves the much bigger Wolves having the better matchups on the other 4 players. Because Luka needs to be load managed so he will not be a liability on defense.

Moreover, in the first game against Timberwolves, LeBron and AR were in very bad condition. Their shooting percentage on offense and their motivation on defense were not good. The shooting percentage of role players was also not good. They did not communicate well about defense positions and control turnovers and rebounds, etc.
