The Warriors’ Defense Is A Problem
The Warriors took control of their first round series in Game 1 behind an impenetrable defensive gameplan that held the Rockets to just 85 points.

Fantastic video, thank you!
All season the Rockets have not really had much of a plan in the half court against set defenses. They need to push the pace.
Offensive rebounding is mostly about effort and it's huge, but the poor Rockets shooting also creates a lot more offensive rebounding opportunities. Shoot better and they get fewer oreb.
I remember when folks were claiming Jalen was a much better player than Cade.
The Problem with giving Adams more minutes is last game with the minutes he played he was already gassed from all the constant fast breaks by the Warriors especially with Payton on the floor
It's time for TJD to play. At least match Steven Adam's number.
If they had called fouls correctly in this game, Draymond would have been in foul trouble the whole game
Steph is the hardest working player in the nba
Crazy that hunting Steph on defense turned into 4/16 shooting… the best defense in the 1st game of the playoffs by anybody who defended 15 or more shots.
What is the nail?
English in not my native language
It's crazy to watch highlights and see a ton of fouls committed by the rockets on rebounds that just weren't called. With a different crew, they may be in trouble on the glass.
I will just make the observation that the Warriors' defense got a MAJOR upgrade after Jimmy Butler joined the team. Since then, the Warriors have been playing arguably the best defense (as a team) in the league. So while Draymond has been getting a lot of credit for his defense, to me Butler is the guy who helps to put it altogether, including inspiring and instilling confidence in the young guys on the team with his selfless play. Jimmy makes everyone on the team play better, including Draymond and Curry.
Gotta love how you said the Rockets are gonna have to make some tweaks to their offense. What offense? That's been their problem all year. You could see on numerous occasions that the Rockets couldn't even properly run plays. They had players confused and doing the wrong things. If there were tweaks to be made, don't you think they would have figured it out during the 82 game season? That's their flaw. The biggest problem is that they don't have anybody who can create their own shot who is a 3 level scorer. They have a few shooters, a few post players, rebounders, defenders and that's pretty much it. They need more development or they need to go all in to trade for a 3 level scorer. FVV is a backup. Dillon Brooks is a goon. Shang Goon? Goon. Thompson and Eason are extremely 1 dimensional. Smith can score but can he defend? I don't know, he doesn't play enough. Instead of diving head first into the playoffs, they could have pushed the young players with a huge ceiling to see what they've got. This team isn't constructed for playoff success. It is true that defense wins championships. But in this case, where they mostly run plays for their big man from the middle of the floor and the majority of their scoring chances are created from offensive rebounds and running out in transition, you need some balance on the other side. Most teams that have made the playoffs play much better defense than what you see in the regular season. Most teams they would play, they wouldn't match up well against. It's great they played themselves into this position. They probably would have been better off focusing on developing talent and not stacking wins. It just stunts these young players growth and hurts their confidence because they're losing minutes with a win now mentality instead of going headfirst into maximum development. Playoff experience is good. They could rise like the thunder next season with off-season development but I think it would have been better off for them to focus on development. I get it. Win now windows are typically small. 🤷♂️
Houston is not playing now against the regular game GSW.
Steph,Dray,Loon,Gp2 are well seasoned champions, they have that heart then there is no fear Jimmy.
My guy you really know basketball ifykyk 💯
Ime vs Kerr is a chess master class tactically on both ends of the floor!
Really impressed how you talk through it so efficiently and effectively. Like I can see and follow what you are describing without you needing to draw on the screen (I very much prefer it the way you do it). And you sprinkle in some specific analysis that makes a lot of sense – and you do so in just 1-2 sentences!! Just super effective with how you present and deliver!
The narrative that Steph is a bad defender has been so wrong for so long. He is actually very good in iso perimeter defense where he lacks is size and explosiveness when the offensive player is able to turn the corner and get downhill, but the way they're letting him cheat up higher knowing the help is behind him with Dray and Jimmy is so tough. And the issue with giving Amen a bigger load on offense is that he's already guarding Steph the whole game and a bigger load on the other side of the floor will likely leave him gassed early in the 4th.
Awesome video
Great analysis. Seriously. Terific stuff.
2:05 I don't think that qualifies as a jumper 😂
