Having just gone over the massive coverage of the NFL draft, one of the attributes that was finally addressed in terms of team fits was….intelligence. Steph and Draymond are two of the smartest players to ever play the game. They understand what they can and can't do, accurately assess what the opponents strengths and weaknesses are and then apply strategy to counter. Add in another basketball genius in Jimmy Butler….well, the results speak for themselves. A lot of media is talking about this game as one of Steph's greatest, which is interesting because his stats are rather mundane compared to other performances ( 5 of 13 from threes for 38% ) . In fact, it seemed great that the Warriors were only down by 3 at the half. But there are so many breakdowns of this game that I realize Steph (and Kerr) were setting things up take advantage of what Houston was doing defensively. In the end, for this series, I think it is going to come down to what some mike picked up of Steve Kerr during a timeout," The only way they can score is if we turn the ball over….they can't score on us." or something like that. No doubt, Steph was magnificent…but it did take all the role players stepping up and that's why this victory was so gratifying…..STRENGTH IN NUMBERS!
