First thing, how does this compare to SAS’s list BEFORE the playoffs started? Anyone can pick the top 5 when most of the first round series’ are completed (3-1) and 2 teams had already been eliminated.
Second thing: dude is often on the money, but this time Stephen A is not even close. Mr. Smith, I’m not even rooting for the Celtics, but how you have them 3rd instead of 1st or 2nd lets me know you are losing your acumen or eyesight. I would love to see Boston knocked out of the playoffs, but they are not falling to the Cavs unless Team Green loses at least 1 of their starting 5 or Pritchard. In fact, I think Boston could lose any one of their starting 5 and probably a 2nd player in their top 8, and STILL be able compete for a title.
Imagine Jaylen Brown or Tatum go down along with Kristaps. Center position = no problem thanks to Horford and Kornet along with stretches of small ball. Hauser, White, Pritchard and even Torrey Craig can combine to partially fill the shoes of Tatum or Brown. Yes the Celtics would be greatly diminished, but they are so loaded with talent, veterans, and youth that Boston can withstand injuries. Same applies if Jrue Holiday or Derrick White were lost. It would be nerve-wracking for Boston fans, but their squad would still be very capable of beating ANYONE in this year’s playoffs.
Without a major injury? Good luck beating Boston 4x in a series, period. OKC and Cleveland have the personnel and home-court, but neither team is battle-tested to the degree Boston has with all those years of playoff loses and the experiences of Jrue, Porzingis, White, Horford, etc in other teams. Warriors and Denver are too thin imo to beat Boston. Knicks, Minnesota, etc just not good enough across their top 8 players.
