Michael Malone. Should be a NO BRAINER. He’s tough and rugged (grit and grind) which is what we need. And has a championship.
NO! Are we serious about trying to contend or no? Open the checkbook and get a real coach with real pedigree, and supplement this roster with real players before it's too late
And IIsulo when asked if he wanted the job he pretended not to hear the question and didn’t seem to enthusiastic opposed when he was smiling ear to ear about his stupid bourbon so he better not get the damn job.
Ja Morant gave the coach a very strong nod and that's enough to me.
Stick with lisalo! He needs a full season to actually see what he can do. STOP mentioning other coaches who were fired, they were fired for a reason, and we don't need them coachingour young guys.
I agree with Cole, we need some vets, just 2 vets would be nice to hold players accountable.
NBA coaching is overrated. Denver looked fine after Malone was gone. When was Popovich awesome? When he had Duncan and Co when they were gone so was his success. Phil Jackson did not win crap without Jordon and Colby.
I been saying Mike Brown ever since he was fired. Now Coach TI…. im curious of what he can do now that I researched him more.
Why are you still talking about trading Ja? Nobody makes a trade without considering what you get in the trade. Every player is tradable. If you get a good offer, you take it. If you don't, then you don't trade. Talking about a trade when you don't know what you get in return seems a bit dumb to me. For example, would you trade Ja for Anthony Edwards? Of course. Would you trade Ja for Jokic? Of course. Would you trade him for Tyler Herro? No. When you talk about trades, please talk about actual trade possibilities and not some unknown return.
I again cannot fathom how you can have this discussion and not talk about who Tuomas Iisalo is and what his philosophy and play styie is? WHY he was so successful in Europe?
No mention that his Paris team had the highest offensive rating in the world. No mention of his revolutionary methods that transform entire organizations.
Does nobody in the US know how to do research, or do you not care?
Easier for fans and content creators to just be in their feelings and cry about this and that, than to do the slightest bit of research and realize Iisalo is the chosen one and that next season is going to be epic?

I don't know if he is the guy, but no more new age coaches like JJ Redick. Forget the analytics guys. We need a tough coach that's going build a tough team. We liked the old Grizzlies because the players and coaches fit Memphis. I still don't trust this front office

damn, another case of fans with their heads in places it shouldn't be. If Memphis paid BIG money to bring this guy in, then they are GOING to give him a shot to do the job. Stop slobbering over the idea of some NBA championship experience coach to come riding in on his huge white stallion. For better or not, you have your coach for next year.
Coaching definitely matters. But in the Grizzlies case I think it's more about the roster and more about Ja's supporting cast.
If we are going with no experience coach let's consider Cassel and Rondo.
Coach makes some difference to a team but it is players that make or break a team. Don't expect different result if you bring soft players like Jaren and Des back. They have not shown anything that makes one feel that they can carry this team when Ja is injured or not playing well. Coaches look good when your superstar players carry the team and role players to stardom. Grizzlies overestimate Jaren and Des. Grizzlies fans used to make fun of Atlanta or Chicago or Sacramento type teams as mediocre, poverty franchises staying in middle rung of NBA… but now Grizzlies are in the same boat with lesser talent. Des is no better than Malik Beasley or Malik Monk or Jordan Poole type player but paid like a star.. Yet, Grizzlies fan would not pay those guys the money Des is getting. Jaren is not even top 25 player in NBA and not a winning BB player….to pay him like top 10 is suicidal for a franchise in a small city that doesn't attract big players. Without big changes around Ja, TI or any new coach cannot do much.. Your current most paid 3 players are poor defenders, inconsistent shooters… People will say Jaren is DPOY .. that was one time.. he is not a good defender outside of paint/rim area.
Bane or Jaren gotta go if anything for kd a professional scorer legend and champion will unlock Ja game to it max potential

Everyone wants to wave that 3rd game off against OKC but that's one of if not the best defense in the league and we carved it up. They only lost 12 times in the regular season. I think iisalo did a good job considering and more importantly not the just the core 3 but the all of the team endorse him. Main point he hasn't installed his offensive/defensive schemes yet give him a chance to see what happens. Roster moves more important

I would honestly want the grizzlies to go after Mike Malone, he is a defensive minded coach that is able to get the best out of his players. I really hope he is atleast considered. I think Tomas isalo should have another season as an assistant rather than head coach
15 games 2 practices. Has the players on his side. I feel we should atleast give him a fair chance to do something with the team. 2 practices is nowhere near enough to implement your philosophies and jdeas. Give him a full training camp with a revamped roster with profiles that he wants. And let's see where he takes us. At the end of the day, with all our injury issues over the last couple years, no coach can bring us to a chip so there's no point in looking at all these coaches when the main issues are roster and health related
