What Happens If The Mavericks FIRE Nico Harrison?

What Happens If The Mavericks FIRE Nico Harrison?

A few days ago the DLLS Mavs crew explored what could happen if the Dallas Mavericks elect NOT to fire Nico Harrison. But what happens if they do? How might that affect their relationship with Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, and other key members of the rotation? What would it mean for Patrick Dumont as well? We do our best to answer those questions in a hypothetical scenario that many Mavs fans might enjoy.

  1. My gosh.. Is this really all you guys can bring in the way of content? Some variation of fire Nico? Or the Luka trade? Really???

  2. Don't trust these owners either so sell the team or me and my family are out. And please let Cuban just go away

  3. No way they can fire him ,right away that would be admitting a mistake, noway they will do that,if this season goes in the toilet then this will be Nicos last season

  4. The only logical path to a rebuild without all those first rounders is to trade AD, Gaff, Klay and Martin, don't extend Kyrie, bank some draft picks and tank next year. They should buy some second rounders in this year's draft and fill several roster spots with rookie contracts.

  5. It is amazing that this is the same Nico Harrison that brought Gafford and PJ here which is a move that got us to another level of defense that catapulted us to the finals. Same nico who brought Kyrie here before that. Same Nico that drafted lively, got Marshall when DJJ opted out and signed Klay when he wanted to go to LA. All of a sudden he is persona non grata because he traded Luka for AD who himself is an all star caliber player albeit 5 years older. Nico is not getting fired anytime soon as they must allow the trade to play out. It's time to get behind the players who are playing hard and want to win. Time to move on.Quit being overly emotional as it seems that most of you were just Luka Fans rather than Dallas Mavericks fans.

  6. What can nico do to damage this franchise he gave away all our draft picks, lose all there best players. And finally traded away a Generational talent for a old injured prone 32 year old star for his la buddy ROB.

  7. I mean there was that one scathing article about how the trade negatively affected the whole NBA because none of these young superstars Anthony Edwards/SGA feel safe at their franchise anymore.

  8. I think it’s time to blow it up ! From the front office to training staff , to players! Or maybe just relocating the team to Vegas!

  9. Go after Giannis, that's where they should pivot to especially if he is on the trade market. Also see if you have enough to get Trae.

  10. It's time to flush Nico down the toilet and start all over. Trade Kyrie (if he opts in), Davis, PJ, Gafford, Lively, and everyone you can. Take it in the shorts for the next 4-5 years and rebuild it all from scratch. It won't win me back over, but it's your best chance to get back some of the fans who have left.

  11. I wouldn't re-sign Kyrie at this point. He is way too injury prone which makes him NOT worth any big deal. I don't care how valuable his presence is in the locker room or that he has the best handles in the game. All of that is great but it's not winning championships.

  12. Honestly there is nothing to be done, it is impossible to recover from this. I'm tired of the 'he doesn't know basketball' excuse for Dumont. He's an NBA owner, he needs to have some idea of the landscape of the league and his own fanbase. When Nico came into his office wanting to trade Luka, he should have told him 'i pay you to make good decisions. This is the dumbest idea I have ever heard. If you mention again you're fired on the spot.' He assisted in the destruction of a franchise and I can't be a fan with someone like that in place.I have been a fan since the Mavs became a franchise in 1980. After the Luka trade, I did not watch one minute of Mavs basketball. I have no belief in the ownership to make the right decisions. I'lll still listen to your pods and watch y'all on Youtube but that's the extent of my fandom and it's really sad.

  13. It puts Luka returning on the table! Of course Patrick Dumont would likely have to be reassigned in the organization or removed all together.

  14. There is zero chance Dumont fires Nico. He needs a scape goat. Does Dumont in any way resemble a guy who played organized sports let alone have the passion for the game like Cuban, Ballmer, Ishiba? Mavs for him is an homework assignment bestowed on him by Miriam.

  15. A Mavs reconstruction would need to trade assets for deep future 1st round picks. For Example, trade AD/Kyrie next Summer for multiple first-round picks starting in the 2030-2036 draft picks. If they allow teams to mortgage the future, desperate teams might give up 2-3 first-round picks (per player) if it does not affect them for at least 5 years.

  16. More importantly, what happens when Luka is bounced in the 1st round. How will you all handle the no defense or “he is a cone” jokes?!? Its coming!

  17. I watched all the way through the 80s and even the horrible 90s and was rewarded by Dirk and Nash which Cuban inherited. Heartbreak when Nash was let go FOR NOTHING (thanks Mark) but still had Dirk as an anchor. Hard to loose another undersized point guard in Brunson FOR NOTHING (thanks Mark) but still had Luka as an anchor. The only reason I pay attention to the Mavs now is because it hard to not watch a slow motion train wreck. Slow motion wreck next year as AD is in and out of the line up and Kyrie returns after the All Star break and they miss the playoffs. Then they blow the train up.
