ZK slick reset the clock on us all last season! After all the injuries and signing of gg, vince, spj and drafting edey wells and Spencer, he knew what could/ would happen to this team this year. He went and got TI because he didn't have the balls to fire TJ after last season. The writing was on the wall when the team started so badly last year without Ja! TJ coddled jaren and dez, which caused Smart to lose respect for him. ZK liked the guy and didn't want to fire him after the injury plagued season, so he gave him a chance to adjust! If he had just hired TI at the end of last season and communicated to the fan base that we needed a soft reset, this wouldn't be such a pr nightmare for him right now. Maybe he was delusional, thinking things would work out? But that just shows his inexperience at team building if he thought he was smarter and more clever than years of data that proves otherwise. Admittedly, I drank the kool-aid because i am more of a heart fan that a head fan most of the time. I definitely saw the issues, but I believed what ZK was selling! If it was his plan all along to soft reset, it actually looks like a decent performance through that lens. Not great, but decent! Still, a lot of errors were made, but im optimistic about the off-season and next season. ZK is a couple of moves away from transforming this team into a true competitor! Who knows if he has what it takes to make them happen. I believe that with the right roster, TI will be able to prove his worth through the teams results!
Spoelstra, an experienced and decorated NBA coach just lost in record fashion against Cleveland. Shit happens. After hearing Ja Morant sing Iisalo's praises, I've been sold.
I mean, if they sack your assistant coaching staff, and hire a super expensive assistant… writing on the wall lol
I think 1 big plus of Taylor Jenkins coming from Milwaukee, was that he was probably very familiar with Giannis' game, and that probably boded well for JJJ. So, I hope that TI leans into that a bit. But yea, they gotta get more Ja/Edey Pick and Roll / Pick and Pop and get Edey 10-15 shots a game. He seems like he shoots too well for him not to be taking more, he should at least be Brooke Lopez out there.
Take the best 5 NBA coaches of all time and smoosh them into one person and then add 20% to their intelligence and charisma, and EVEN THEN you would not be able to get a much better outcome than you got with Iasalo at the very end of this season. No idea if Iasalo will work out, but they paid him big money, clearly, to come in and TRY. So like it or not, next year we'll have to see.
I think having the two rookies on top 5 all-rookie TWICE is awesome. Look at the other two you mentioned (Ja and BC), and by every metric, those two are integral parts of the team. Well now you only get better (usually) every year. I know there's a lot of angst (by some) that we don't have enough 30+ year old players, but don't look now, but some of your guys are almost there😮. I would like to know WHO these obtainable veteran players ARE that so many people think would make such a difference. Not saying they don't exist, I just don't know who they are, and would like to hear more about these "prospects". I seem to be in the minority, but I actually have high hopes for next year. I'll be following our moves this off season with interest.
Was hoping they would get mike Malone or bring Mark Jackson back into coaching. Now we got this eurodude who thinks their brand of basketball is better than us. Disappointing season incoming.
People don't understand that if you are named the new coach in the middle of a season, you'll have a tough time to change how the team plays. You barely have training time to teach the team to play differently. What Iisalo obviously did was to convince the players and the GM of his ideas and plans. He gained their trust under this tough spot.
