Indiana Pacers vs Cleveland Cavaliers Live NBA Live Stream
Let’s take you courtside for the game. [Music] Milwaukee would land the first few punches going up by as many as 20 in the first half, but the Pacers would get it trimmed to six at halftime. Fast forward to the fourth quarter with Indiana down by four with 40 seconds to go. Tyresese Hallebertton knocked down two free throws. The Pacers got a stop in Hallebertton a dunk on the ensuing possession which would send the game into overtime where the Pacers got into an even deeper hole down seven with 40 seconds to play when Andrew Mard and Tyresese Hallebertton would deliver numerous key plays. And with the Pacers down by one in the waning seconds, Hallebertton improbably beat Jiannisko to the rim to complete a stunning comeback and deliver the Pacers a round one win. We were down seven with 40 seconds. Nemar hits the three. Uh we get a steal. Tai gets an and one and then you know they just we got we we got fortunate. You know they had a mishandle and we got the ball and and Tai made the play to to win the game. We’re fortunate but uh you know fortune favors the bold. Our guys were were were bold in the last three quarters. We’re very thankful and very grateful to be moving on. Welcome to the Koger pregame show on the Elevance Health Radio Network. I’m Pat Boland. Tonight, for the second time in two years, the Pacers have advanced to the second round of the playoffs. Last year, the Pacers beat the Knicks, but the challenge ahead feels even more difficult this year as Indiana faces off against the 64 win Cavaliers. Those 64 wins matched the most in the Eastern Conference over the last 12 years. And they were historically good in round one, outscoring the Cavaliers by 31 points per game. It was the most lopsided round one series ever. They’ve taken major steps forward this year thanks in part to better health and in part a new strategy. First year head coach Kenny Atinson took the previously plotting Cavs to top 10 in pace and their offense has exploded. They’re best in the NBA in the regular season and through the first round, Cleveland ranks first offensively in the playoffs, too. From Cleveland, it’s the Pacers and the Cavaliers. The opening tip of round two, game one is 30 minutes away. We head to Cleveland now. Mark Bole is standing by and joins us right now. Let’s look back before we look forward. Mark, I don’t think too much would have truly surprised us from round one against Milwaukee if looking at it at the beginning of the series, but how do you evaluate Indiana’s four games to one series win? Just a really solid performance, the exception being the second half of game three. Other than that, they were good. Real good. And they got off to good starts in most every game. They dominated the first two games and then the spectacular finish at the end of game five. Uh that was just a really solid performance. Now Milwaukee didn’t have Lillard for much of the competition or at least some of the competition, but even if they had Lillard, I think they would have been hardressed to beat the Pacers playing at the level they played at in the first round. Speaking of point guards or guards not available, Darius Garland just listed as out here for game number one. Now, they were terrific without him in Miami. In fact, by margin, even better. How do you analyze the Cavaliers here tonight, missing one of their top players in game one? Well, anyone that thinks they’re better off without him needs to reassess their intellect because this guy is a good player and he will be missed. They played nine games without him, seven in the regular season and those two playoff games. They went six and three. So, they’re a good team with depth. They’re still hard to beat, but there can’t be any doubt that without Garland, they’re not going to be quite as hard to beat. They still might be good enough to win, but they will miss this guy for sure. It seems like every playoff series in recent memory, a Pacers advantage has been their depth. Do you think it still is in this series? If not, how much of a challenge might it be for a team that typically relies on it? Well, I’ll answer that with a big picture type answer. The thing that concerns me from the Pacer perspective is everything the Pacers are good at, the Cavaliers are good at, too. For example, Indiana’s a good offensive team, much better than average. Cleveland is a great offensive team. The Pacers have progressed to the point where they’re competent, perhaps a little bit better than that defensively. The Cavaliers are good defensively. Pacers generally have an advantage in turnovers because they take good care of the ball. The Cavs and the Pacers were tied for third in turnovers in the league. So, no advantage there. Cleveland is an excellent offensive rebounding team. The Pacers are a very poor rebounding team. Cleveland shoots the three better than every team except the one we saw in the first round. So, in other words, everything the Pacers are good at, the Cavaliers are also good at and in some cases better at. So, it’s a major challenge. Uh, the way I look at this series, Pat, if I were to analyze it in one sentence, is this. The Cavaliers are the better team, but not so much better that they couldn’t be taken. That’s Mark Bole out in Cleveland. You’ll have the playbyplay with Eddie Gil, and that duo will join us later here in the Kroger pregame show. The Pacers had a stunning comeback on Tuesday to close out the Bucks. We’ll hear those highlights when we return. This is the Elevance Health Radio Network. Tonight is game one of the best of seven series between the Indiana Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers. Tuesday night was one Pacers fans won’t forget anytime soon. A frantic, dramatic, historic comeback to top of the Bucks. Here’s how it sounded. Hard with it off the inbound left side high. Hallebertton. He’ll try a long three and he’ll leave it short. Rebound out near the foul line. Deflects to Turner and it winds up with Seakum. Hallebertton on top driving on Porter Jr. Kick out to Turner. A three on the way and they’re finally on the board. Pacers are one of 10 from three-point range. At the other end, Portoris misses a three out of the far corner. Both teams having trouble here scoring as Hallebertton comes ahead giving to Walker. 5 minutes left in the half. Hallebertton drives, finds the wideopen knee in front of the Milwaukee bench and he drops a three through two in game five. It’s the Milwaukee Bucks 47, the Indiana Pacers 41. Game tied at 73 as we approach the end of the third quarter. Mathan on Porter on the logo at center. Sims up to screen. Porter tried to split the defenders. Nmith stole the ball. Shot clock dark and then the Pacers almost turned it over but Nith picked it up. He lost it and McConnell in the lane grabbed it and scored. 22 seconds left. There is time between game and shot clocks but it’s less than a second. Indiana down by two. Hallebertton moving to his left. Driving with his right hand. He’s in the lane. He’s at the goal. And he’s done. And now the Pacers can go ahead with 10 and 8. 10 seconds to play. Here we go. Here comes Hallebert. Hits the timeline with seven outside the arc with five. Driving in the lane at the goal. He lays it in with one and 310 seconds to go. Unbelievable finish to this one. The Pacers with an eight-point run over the final 46 seconds defeat Milwaukee 119118 in overtime and they advance to the Eastern Conference semifinals. And when we return, Mark Boer rejoins us on the Kroger pregame show. He’s with Eddie Gil. This is the Elevance Health Radio Network. What if healthc care worked for everyone? [Music] The Kroger pregame show continues tonight. Here again is Mark Bole. Joining him, Eddie Gil. Thank you, Pat. The conference semifinals start tonight in Cleveland. Let’s just start with a basic. Fair to say that this is a dramatic step up in competition, correct? Yeah, there’s no question about it. Uh significant step up in in uh in competition. There’s pretty much no weaknesses on this team in in all facets of the game. You have to be be sharp, locked in on the details. Obviously, you want to be able to do that each and every night, but the margins of error shrink significantly when you go go against a team of this caliber. You’ve already pointed out something that I think is somewhat obvious to those that follow the NBA. This is a team not without a weakness. That’s not literally true of any team. At the same time, no glaring weaknesses. So, how do you attack? Yeah, I think you have to be um you know, really diligent in your in your focus. Uh, you know, the fundamentals are come into play in a big big time way here. All the details. Got to take care of the basketball. Got to attempt to rebound the basketball against that big front line that they have. Um, I think really important for the patient to try to keep the pace of play up. I think if you get into a half court type of type of situation against this defense, it’s going to be incredibly challenging to to manufacture clean looks. Um, but but having said that, they’ve done a great job, the Patients have, of keeping the pace of play up, you know, regardless of opponent for the most part. Uh but certainly it’s going to be even more challenging here against his opponent. And you’ve touched on something I think that could be critical. Not just the big front line, but they’re a strong physical team. The Pacers have struggled all season with the rebounding. Is that perhaps their biggest area of vulnerability here? Yeah, I think it is specifically on offensive of the glass. I mean, we think about guys like Evan Moley, Jared Allen. Um they’re going to really get after the glass quite a bit. Um they have athletic wings who can get after the glass as well. Um, but ultimately I I firmly believe just trying to control as much as you can. Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, um, you know, Tiger Roman, he’s coming off the bench. All these guys do a terrific job of getting in the paint, making you putting you in scrambled situations. When a shot goes up, it’s hard to put a body on a body. That’s Eddie Gil. I’m Mark Foil. Game one tonight in Cleveland. Game two here on Tuesday. And then back to Indianapolis for games three and four Friday and Sunday. Let’s go back to Indianapolis now. And Pat Boy. Mark Eddie, thank you. Tonight is round two, game one. The Pacers are visiting the Cavaliers. Indiana’s pace concerns Cavs coach Kenny Atinson. Put our track shoes on. You know, it’s like and it’s not right. Some teams it’s like, oh, you know, if it’s over and over, you know, it’s it’s we have the athleticism, we have the speed. It’s just the initial shock of them doing it so consistently. I give Rick and and their their group so much credit plays into their personnel and and the message to our guys is how resilient we can be with our running, you know, like like you do it three times, they’re going to do Pascal’s going to run the fourth time. Terresa is going to get the high outlet the fifth. Like can we can we do it for longer? Um I think that’s you know uh I think of the Knicks series last year they they kind of wore them out, right? They wore them out. they run more than anybody in the league. Um that’s not from just from a visual that’s there’s facts behind that, right? You know, um physical facts. Um so our guys are well aware, you know, we you know, but um we’re going to have to feel that and get accustomed to it. Um but I I think I think they have the message. They understand. That’s Kenny Atinson, head coach of the Cavaliers. Tyresese Hallebertton hit numerous big shots down the stretch to help deliver the Pacers to victory on Tuesday night. Out in Cleveland tonight, Pacers and Cavaliers. Round two, game one. It’s tipping off shortly. I’m Pat Boyand. Tyresese Hallebertton looks back at a wild game five win where he took over late in regulation and then again in overtime. Man, I missed a lot of easy ones there in the fourth. Smoked a big layup after hitting that three that would have put us up two possessions. Um, you know, that came back to bite us and they went on a little bit of a run. Missed like two or three threes in a row. Um, you know, but I got a little down about it, but you know, my teammates encouraged me to stay with it. Um, they said we would get a chance to win it at the end and they would rely on me to do that. So, um, those guys kept me up. Drew made a huge three that probably won’t be talked about a ton. Had a big steal there in that trap. Um, and we just made plays when we needed to. And, uh, I think that’s part of the resilience of this group and what we’ve proven all year. So, you know, it wasn’t pretty, but uh we’ll take it and um you know, celebrate this one for the night and you know, got to get ready for Cleveland. That’s Tyrese Hallebertton. Andrew Nehard says the Pacers have depth, but so too do the Cavaliers. They’re deep. You know, they they’ve done a great job of all regular season being one of the best offense, one of the best defenses. Um they shoot three really well. They spread you well, kind of play together. So, there’s a lot of problems they present for sure. What kind of confidence do you guys get getting through the punch very quickly and after that? I think we have confidence in how we’ve been playing later in the season and just up to now. We’ve been playing together, playing both sides of the floor um and and stepping up when we need to make big plays. It’s it’s going to be a competitive challenge and the best team are the best record, second best record in the league. Yeah. I mean, they they’ve been tough games this year, so it’s going to be it’s going to be fun battle for us and um I think we’re all up for it and we’re all excited for it for sure. Coming off such a physical series, how important were these two days of rest just to kind of get back to normal before going to Cleveland? They’re nice. They’re nice. Um definitely a big advantage of us not having to go back to Milwaukee and play game six. Um it’s we’re better when we’re rested and we can we can play to to our our scout better. That’s Andrew Nehard. Rick Carile evaluates his round two opponent. Well, they’ve been they’ve been dominant in the East all year. Um what they did to Miami is is daunting really uh from a precision basis. I mean they’re as precise as any team in the league. Um so you know the the preparation has got to be very detailed and very precise and everything has got to be on point. Our communication’s got to be great. Um they have attackers really at all positions. even their bigs are playmakers and so um you know it’s a great challenge and and I’ve been to Cleveland enough time you know their their their fan base is is rabid and their building is one of the loudest and so uh you know it’s it’s going to be a high level of competition. That’s Indiana Pacers head coach Rick Carile. It’s the Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers. We are into round two after Indiana beat Milwaukee in five games. Cleveland beat Miami in four games. So, both of these teams have had numerous days off for the Pacers, four days off between Tuesday’s game and tonight’s game. There is one other game being played tonight. In fact, it is still in round number one. It’s game seven. Houston and Golden State tied at three games apiece after the Warriors got up to a 3-1 series lead. Houston has taken the last two, including game six in San Francisco. So, should be an interesting one out in Houston and then that will officially close out round one of the playoffs. The Pacers are beginning round two here with Cleveland and it’s coming up momentarily. That’ll wrap up the Cre Kroger pregame show. When we return, it’s out to Cleveland. Mark Bole and Eddie Gil have lineups and tip. Game number one coming your way next on the Elevance Health Radio Network. driving to his right, sends it into the lane. Turner right in front for the right hand slam. This is Indiana Pacers basketball. Now here’s the voice of the Pacers, Clark Bole. Good evening and welcome to a night of playoff basketball with the Indiana Pacers. Tonight, a best of seven Eastern Conference semifinal begins in Cleveland as the Pacers take on the Cavaliers. The Pacers disposed of Milwaukee four games to one in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. The Cavaliers, who won an Eastern Conference best 64 games during the regular season, had an even easier time in their first round series, sweeping Miami. The average margin of victory over the four games, an NBA record 30 and a half points per game. The Cavaliers were so dominant that they led by as many as 40 points in game three and by a nearly incomprehensible 60 points in game four. These two teams played four times during the regular season, but not much can be gained by analyzing in the first two games. The Pacers played six of the eight quarters without Tyrese Hallebertton and split two with the Cavaliers. That was before Cleveland made a trade that brought them DeAndre Hunter. And in the second two games, both late in the season, one in Indianapolis and one in Ohio, both teams played players that in all likelihood might not even see the floor in this playoff series. So, even though the Pacers won the season series three games to one and were the only team to beat Cleveland three times this season, it’s difficult to draw any conclusions from that. This series will continue in Ohio on Tuesday night. Then it’s back to Indianapolis. Game three at Gambridge Fieldhouse on Friday and game four will be played on Sunday. The Pacers and Cavaliers have played three times previously in the postseason, all in the opening round. The Pacers beat the Cavaliers back in the best of five days. Three games to one in 1998. Lost to the Cavaliers in four in 2017 and again the next year that series went the full seven. Tonight in Cleveland, it’s the Pacers and the Cavaliers with Pat Boy Boland and Eddie Gil. I’m Mark Bole. Stay with us. We’ll get to the starting lineups when we come back. You’re listening to Pacers playoff basketball on the Elevance Health Radio Network. Time to take a look at our Ascension St. Vincent starting lineups with the Pacers started the same five in every one of the five games in the Milwaukee Series. They’ll do the same tonight. Tyrese Hallebertton, who averaged 17 and a half points and 11 12 assists per in the Milwaukee series. We’ll start in the back court with Andrew Nhart. Up front, Miles Turner, Aaron Nesmith, and Pascal Seakkum. Seakkum is the Pacers leading scorer during the playoffs as he was during the regular season. Cleveland has had some injury issues lately. Specifically, their starting point guard, Darius Garland, did not play games three and four in the Miami series. They didn’t need him. They won easily in both of those games. He’s their assist leader on the season. And Donovan Mitchell is their leading scoreer. 24 points per and that’s right about what he averaged in the Miami series. They’ve got a good front line, too. Jared Allen and Evan Mobley are big and good rebounders. Mobley is also a premier shot blocker and Max Strus has started on occasion. They’ve mixed and matched with the rest of the starting lineup, that other spot. Dean Wade has gotten a lot of starts this season. They’re a deep team. Game one Eastern Conference semifinals about to begin. The Pacers and the homestanding Cleveland Cavaliers. Pat Boy in our Indianapolis studio with Eddie Gil. I’m Mark Bole at Rocket Arena. Starting lineups are as we anticipated they would be for the Pacers, Tyrese Hallebertton, Andrew Nhard, Miles Turner, Aaron Nesmith, and Pascal Seakum. The Cavaliers do not have Darius Garland. Sam Merrill who started the two games Garland didn’t start in the Miami series is back out there as a starter with Donovan Mitch. Mitchell, Jared Allen, Evan Mobley. They have a very nicely balanced team in Cleveland. And literally from day one this season, they were the best team in the Eastern Conference. They won their first 15 games before they suffered a loss and they were well on course to challenge 70 wins before late in the season. They decided to arrest some players in anticipation of what they hope will be a very long playoff run. The officials tonight crew chief is Zach Zarba. He’s in his 22nd season. Sean Wright works he’s in his 20th and getus Petradus is in his 10th season. During the regular season, the Pacers were 13th in the NBA in net efficiency. The Cavaliers were third. Cleveland was first offensively, Indiana ninth, and the Pacers were 13th defensively, the Cavaliers eighth. We welcome those of you who have joined us around Indiana via the Elevance Health Radio Network, our affiliates in Fort Wayne. W KJGM1380 and WKJG 100.9 FM. And the Pacers play in yellow tonight. Blue numerals, blue letters, blue and white trim. Indiana out to center court first as we are just about set to start. Eddie Gil, no Darius Garland. What kind of a difference does that make? Yeah, I mean you just don’t have your second playmaker out there alongside Donovan Mitchell. Uh but having said that, Sam Mel is a guy who provides and presents different challenges than than Darius Garland. Um he’s a guy who can spread the floor. He’s a knock down three-point shooter. That’s his main focus uh while he’s out there on the floor. He does that uh with some of the best in the league. So presents different challenges, but but certainly if you’re from a Cavs perspective, you would much rather have Darius Garland in the lineup based on his dynamic ability offensively. We are set to play ball. Miles Turner will jump center for the Pacers. Indiana will move it left to right. Racers won here in January and won again here in April. The two teams split a pair of regular season games in [Music] [Applause] Indianapolis. In fact, Zarba is the crew chief and he signals we’re set to go. Donovan Mitchell handling the ball. He’ll give it back to Zarba so we can get started. Jared Allen steps in and he will jump to start the game for Cleveland. 3-1 Pacer advantage in the regular season almost literally meaningless. Correct. I would agree that very much uh not a factor as you as you look at these games here in the playoffs. It’s a different type of environment as we see. Pacers win the opening tip and they’ll bring it left to right to start the game. Mehart has it up top to Pascal. Seakum bouncing once and then giving to Miles Turner. Right edge of the arc. Hallebertton gets it left edge to the wideopen Seakum who leaves a three ball short to start the game. First rebound is collected by the Cavaliers and they’ll come right to left with their first possession. Mobley has it on the left wing. They clear it out. He backs his way into the dotted half and scores over Seiak where he’s taken a gigantic step this season. Not just the defensive player offensively has really come along. Two zero the score. The Pacers have it with their second possession of the night. Seiakum has the ball and he is working the right edge of the arc. Gives to Nesmith who hands to Hallebert back to the left side. Nmith fluffs a three, drives in and tosses it off the glass with a right hand. Nice finish there. Off balance floater going to his left. Indiana and Cleveland tied at two. We played one minute in game one. Merryill has it up top to Strus. Strus with a bounce pass to the left edge of the arc. Mobley still way outside the arc. Gives it back to Strus being played by Nesmith. Now the bounce to Merrill who got away from Hallebertton. This creates chaos and Merryill sends it outside where the open Mobly hits a three. Hallebertton beating off the dribble creates all kinds of issues. Pacers come back with a good play on the offensive end. Nehart left of the lane. Fed it to Seakam down the middle for a layup. Cleveland five, the Pacers four on the wing. Mitchell got inside of Nemhart but his left hand badly off target. Turner rebounds. Long pass. Nehart to Syakam and reaching in and slapping it away under the rim. Strus of Cleveland. He gives it to Merrill. A catch and shoot three from the left side. Bounces into the far corner. Gets tracked down by Nesmith and the Pacers will come to the attack. Trailing five to four. Hallebertton with the ball driving to his left. Sends it to the foul line. From there it’s Seyakum faking the shot now slicing down the left side but he missed the left hand scoop. Cleveland five, Indiana four. First quarter, game one. The Cavs turn it over. Turner with a steal at the foul line and he sends it to Seakum. He’ll have to earn his points from the line. He was fouled trying to the finish and knocked to the floor by Moley. Tiakum still down on his back out of bounds. And Hallebertton comes over to help him up. Seakum will go to the line twice. Yeah, just the slightest little nudge in the lower back of Seakum gets him off balance there as he goes to finish that layup. Fans, I’m sure you’ll be shocked by this. Don’t like it. Although just a touch foul, but just enough to make a difference there on Seakum play. Seakum will go to the line twice. The Pacers with an opportunity to take their first advantage of the game. 947 left in the first quarter. The Seyakum foul shot is good as he did during the regular season. He led the Pacers in scoring during the opening round averaging nearly 20 a game. Very effective per usual. 56% from the floor with Pat Boen, Eddie Gil, and that loud mouth behind us. I’m Mark Bole. I’m sure you can hear him. I feel like he needs a proper introduction. So, we in the timeout, I’ll ask him for his name. Get a I’m sure we got a third headset if we can find him. Foul shots are good. Seakum with four. The Pacers have their first lead. It’s Indiana six and Cleveland five. Cavaliers are moving it right to left. They’re in the white uniforms. Their complimentary colors are listed as wine, blue, and gold. On top, left edge, catch and shoot. Merrily is open, but he missed the three. And Meith cracked down the rebound. Pacers are in front. Six to five. Nmith perimeter right. Moving the dribble to the center of the floor. Picks it up, lobs it to the right wing. It’s knocked away from Seakum and in the corner. The ball is saved from going out of bounds by Allen. Cleveland forcing the turnover. Mitchell brings it up. The Pacers in front early. Six to five. Mitchell pulls up right edge and splashes home a three in that series against Miami. He shot 46% from outside the arc and this three makes it 86. There’s a foul on top. Turner setting a screen and there appeared to be some momentary confusion as to who the foul was on. Jared Allen. He pushed he pushed Turner into Max Shrews. It looked like it may have been a offensive foul on Turner, but Allen like I said pushed him into him. So good call by the official. Greenland in front. 86. 3 minutes 2 seconds gone [Music] [Applause] and the Pacers play it in crosscourt to the near corner. Seakum goes up top. Turner handles perimeter right. Now it’s Hallebertton center of the floor for a catch and shoot three. And that’s Pascal Seakum who has scored seven of Indiana’s first nine points. The Pacers lead on that three-point field goal 98. Moley brings it up for Cleveland. Working it smoothly into the fourourt. Still holding the bounce right edge of the arc. Now he’ll drive it with a left hand. And Seakum reached in, poked it away, and stole it. Nehart bumped by Merrill on the break and the ball eventually knocked out of bounds over on the far side by Merrill. 827 to go in the quarter. 19 on the shot clock. Pacers with the early 98 advantage. Listen, that was a beautiful steal by Seakum. Evol trying to attack him off the bounce. Reaches in and takes it from him. Lamard with it center of the floor. Picks up the bounce down low left block. It’s Turner against Allen. Turner turns, fades baseline, and he knocked it down. Great balance there with the off the one foot and fade away turning to his baseline. 810 to go in the corner. Mitchell has the ball for Cleveland. Comes in on the right side now. Spins into the lane, fakes, goes up on Nith, and he’s on the line with a chance for a three-point play. Nmith picking up his first. Mitchell during the regular season, 24 points per game. They’re in the Miami series, 24 points per game. And this is going to be a very challenging series for the Pacers in general, but in all likelihood, Eddie, Aaron Nith in particular. Yeah, and Nithouth in great position there. He was able to guard multiple bounces there. Just couldn’t resist the temptation of swatting down on that last moment. 1110 for the Pacers. It remains that way as Mitchell misses the foul shot. He’s a reliable foul shooter normally. 82% but he missed that one. And Hallebertton brings it ahead for the Pacers. Under 8 minutes to go in the first quarter. Right sideline Turner back to Hallebertton. Edge of the arc. Left hand and now the right. Takes it to the top of the circle. Shoots over Allen and knocks down a 20footer. To shoot that one high in the sky. Nice challenge by Allen. Acers in front. 13- 10. Cleveland has Mitchell handling perimeter right moving it toward the right sideline. Now up top, Merryill to Mobley. A catch and shoot three off the back of the rim from the left side. Long rebound to Merrill. Cleveland gets another look at it. Mitchell comes right down the middle of the lane and flips it in off the glass. Well, they’re starting to put Well, I shouldn’t say they start. Ever since the games game did start, they’re put Hallebertton in a lot of these ball screens making him guard. Indiana 13, Cleveland 12. 714 left in the first quarter. Tiakum free up top, takes it from Nehard and delivers his second three of the first quarter. He is locked in. He’s got 10 points in 5 minutes of the play. Pacers in front 1612. Merrill for Cleveland right sideline. Now he’ll move it toward the right wing. Catch and shoot. Very quick release, but he left it short. Here comes Seakum. Seakum has been the first quarter’s dominant player through the first 5 minutes plus with 10 of Indiana’s 16 points. His three out of the far corner is short. Rebound scooped up on one hop by Allen and the ball is in Mitchell’s hands. Off the high screen down the right side. He got to the hoop and laid it in. Seakum has 10 of Indiana’s 16. Mitchell has nine of Cleveland’s 14. Pacers lead by two. 628 left in the quarter. Hallebertton way outside near the hash mark. And that three prompts a Cleveland timeout. Pacers with a good start offensively. 624 left. First quarter. 1914 Pacers. Pat Boy Boland is there. Good day, sir. Marquetti, hello. The 24-25 Cav Cavaliers season has been historic. They tied for the most wins in the East over the last 12 years. Second most in franchise history. And they’ve carried that over into the playoffs. They outscored the Heat by 122 points in a four-game sweep, the most lopsided playoff series in NBA history. Rick Carlile said on Thursday, quote, “What they did to Miami was daunting.” End quote. What they did was increase their pace under first year head coach Kenny Atinson from 24th last year to 10th this year, which has unleashed their offense from 16th a year ago to first this year. A major test for Indiana’s improved defense. Indiana’s offense, on the other hand, has gotten off to a 10 of a seven of 10 start from the field. [Music] Out of the timeout, the Pacers substitute for the first time. Benedict Mattherin and Jarus Walker are in. Nmith and Seyakam are out. Cleveland has also gone to its bench. Kai Jerome and DeAndre Hunter replacing Mobley and Mitchell. Cleveland with the ball. The Pacers have the lead 1914. Jerome takes the inbound. Gives it back to Merrill. Merrill brings it up against Hallebert. They come right to left in white. Indiana defends in yellow. Bounce pass left edge of the circle on the catch. Straddling the arc back to the goal. Jerome now moves it to the left wing. Tried to hand it off to Hunter. They actually collided as the shot clock spins down to five. up top to Merrill drifting to his right. He hits a pullup three. He got loose for his first two that he missed, but he’s a guy that won’t miss too many open ones. That three cuts it to 1917. Pacers left to right. They’re in yellow tonight. We’re inside of 6 minutes left in the quarter. Allen knocked the ball into the back court. Nehar tracked it down then drove it to the top of the circle and hit a pull up. The Pacers off to a splendid start with their accuracy. They’re eight of 11 from the floor and they’re in front by four. Now Jerome Hard down the right side. Got to the rim but left at short. Rebound snagged by Turner. 528 left in the quarter. Mehart to Mattherin. Catch and shoot three near corner off target. Weak side rebound controlled by the Cavaliers. Hunter will bring it up. 518 left in the quarter. Cleveland down four. Hunter unloads and misses a three. Turner tracks down the rebound. Hallebertton has the ball. Keep an eye on those rebounding numbers. And it’s a potential hazardous area for the Pacers. So far though, Indiana has outrebounded Cleveland 7 to five. Bounce pass down low. Turner has the smaller streus posted. Takes advantage to unload a baseline jump shot. It’s off target and there’s a loose ball foul on the weak side. Matan’s over the back. Cleveland substituting Dean Wade who more often than not this year was in the starting lineup. He started in 30 of his 59 appearances. He’ll replace Merill here. And Dean Wade has to be watched outside. They are too. This is a really good three-point shooting team. Only Milwaukee was better during the regular season, Eddie. And they have several that can do damage. Yeah, really. Jared Allen is the only guy who plays significant minutes that doesn’t shoot a three ball at a really high cliff. They’ve got it. Jerome to the foul line. Leaves a jump shot short. TJ McConnell had just checked in for the Pacers. The ball is off of McConnell and out of bounds. So it’s Walker, McConnell, Turner, Hallebertton, and Mattherin against Hunter, Wade, Allen, Jerome, and Stroops. Inbound to Hunter. Right back down low to the baseline inbounder. And it’s an easy possession for the Cavs as Jerome stepped right back in bounds, took the pass, and then bounced it to Allen for an easy layup. 2119 Pacers by two. Perimeter right. McConnell Walker handles and goes back up top. Hallebertton drives it with a right hand right down the middle and he got the spin off the rim. Shoot layups. Shoot layups. That’s a great job of getting it all the way there and attempting and making that shot there by Halton. Pacers nine of 14. The Cavaliers waste little time countering. Hunter got the ball in the shadow of the rim and finished. It’s 23-21. Contested foul line jumper. Walker off target. Tracked down near corner by Wade. Cleveland down two with a ball. 359 left in the first quarter of game one. Jerome hard down the right side, spins into the lane and threw it away. Hallebertton intercepts his bounce pass. Hallebertton brings it himself. Jerome picks him up as he crosses the timeline. Hallebertton now sends it to the far corner. They’ll dare McConnell. He’ll accept the challenge and hit the three. Absolutely got to accept it. Lexus playing way off. Step into it with confidence. Racers 25, Cleveland 21. Allen handles for Cleveland. Giving to Jerome. Jerome down the middle of the lane. A floater from just inside the foul line. And that’s Jeromes for a score. Both teams executing well. Cleveland 56%, Indiana 63%. And now his play progresses into the four court. Hunter is called for a foul, his first. Team fouls Indiana 2, Cleveland two, and the Pacers will take a timeout with 3 minutes and 20 seconds left in the fourth. Cleveland very good at home during the regular season, 34-7. Two of those seven losses to the Pacers and they won both home games in the Miami series. The Pacers on the road 20 and 20 and they split a pair of games in Milwaukee. Let’s go to Pat Boy Boland in Indianapolis. These two teams face each other four times in the regular season. When Rick Carile was asked what he could take away, a similar question marked that you asked Eddie in pregame. Both Eddie and Rick saying, quote, “Not much.” And here’s why. Tyresese Hallebertton played in just two of those four games. Donovan Mitchell, he played in just two of those four games. Tyresese Hallebertton asked about it in practice, the lack of reps against 100% or close to it, teams against each other. He called it weird, saying, “Typically, we have a lot of film to review, but there’s not much to go off of. Two teams that know each other well, but didn’t play each other really very much at full strength this year.” And an update on the score that McConnell shot out of the corner which we thought Eddie was a three all along. Apparently was ruled a two in real time and so it’s now 26 to 23 as it’s been changed officially to a three. Pacers have the ball. McConnell has it on top. Shot clock is at 10. Pacers left to right in yellow. Cleveland in white here in game one. Shot clock to seven. Nehart lets a long one go. A three from dead on. It’s rebounded by Mobley. Cleveland down three with the ball moving it right to left. Three minutes left in the first quarter. Jerome sends it down low. Hunter on the catch. Fakes a wing jumper. Nimhart bought the fake and that gave Hunter a clear path to the goal. He dunked. Yeah, Nimhart knows better than that, too. Got to stay on his feet. Just challenge it. Nicely done. Obie Toppin. He just checked in during the timeout. Took a pass in the corner and then fed it into the lane where the cutting McConnell grabbed it and laid it in. Indiana 28, Cleveland 25. It remains that way as Moy misses a three from the left edge. Rebound scraped off the front of the rim by McConnell. Acers in front by three. They have led by as many as five. Cleveland’s biggest lead was three early in the game. Left edge of the arc. Mathan center of the floor. McConnell. 9 seconds to shoot. Crosscourt to the far sideline. This is Nemhart delivering a three. That’s a beautiful pass by McConnell and zero hesitation once again there by Nimhart. Big difference in the three-point shooting. Pacers five of eight, Cleveland three of nine. Indiana with a game high six-point lead. Jerome drives down the right side of the lane and misses the shot as it was challenged by McConnell. McConnell may have even gotten a piece of it. Back the other way comes Toppen. McConnell was in fact credited with a block shot. Right edge McConnell moving center of the floor. Tried to come down the left side. Nearly lost it. Now feeds it to Mattherin who with authority drives it to the front of the rim and then hooks it into the corner. Toppen went up and down with it. He traveled. He wanted to get a three off, but as Moy came out to challenge, he went up and down. One of the constants in this series with rare exception. The Pacers are getting off to great starts every night. How come? Yeah, I mean, just the focus, the level of focus there, you know, you see when they come out, they’re doing a great job on both ends to some degree. One probably tightening up a little bit more defensively here, but offensively they’ve been superb throughout the playoffs. And now from the logo, Mitchell using his expertise to draw contact and a foul. Hamhard out there. That’s his first. The Pacers had one to give. The Cavaliers play it in from the side. You pointed this out many times, but it wasn’t that long ago and they they cleaned it up, but it wasn’t that long ago that they would have put him on the line shooting three. Yeah, they were awarding guys for those shots uh quite a bit. And these two collide with each other. Now Hunter and Mobley collide with one another trying to exchange the ball on top and the collision chars the ball loose. The Pacers take advantage to grabs it and goes the distance. Indiana 33, Cleveland 25. Biggest lead for either team. Cavs had a three-point lead early. Now Mitchell dances to the left edge of the arc and leaves a three short. The rebound carums off of Moley and out of bounds. The Pacers doing an excellent job on the board. They’re plus two. Well, listen. Another thing is the patients right now will be very happy with these three-point attempts that the Cavs are taking. All of them challenged. Evan Mobley has taken a couple of challenged ones. Donovan Mitchell is capable of making challenges but that one there he didn’t go. 40 seconds left in the quarter. 10 to shoot. Near side corner. Mathan drives. He blows right by Hunter who fell down but then when he got into the lane the ball was taken away and the Cavs will run with the turnover. Mowgli with the defensive play. It leads to a missed three at the other end. Mitchell from the right edge. They’re starting poorly from out there. They’re three of 11. Yeah, and that’s another challenge where he’s trying to get a two for one there, but not a great shot at him. A 3second separate game and shot clock as McConnell is being harassed by Jerome Amalogo at center court. Down to seven to shoot. McConnell crosses over, gets into the lane. He’s at the dotted half circle. He bounces it baseline top and outside. Matan just beat the shot clock and hit a three. Wow, what composure. Matan eyeballs the clock right as he received that pass. Took his time and knocked it down. Indiana off to a stellar start. A long three from back court. Mitchell ends the first quarter with the score. The Indiana Pacers 36. The Cleveland Cavaliers 25. The Pacers with a strong first quarter. Game number one in Cleveland. Indiana shot 67% from the field, 67% from the three-point line, hit their two free throws and the Pacers have a 36-25 lead after one. In downtown Indianapolis, I’m Pat Boy Boland. Let’s go back to Cleveland. Quarter two of game one. Here are Mark Bole and Eddie Gil. Pacers close that first quarter with a 10 run this key stretch of the game. A presentation of Key Bank where you always hope to get off to a good start. And that was better than a good start, Eddie. It was really a splendid start. Listen, Rocket Arena is stunned right now. A little bit just trying to figure out what’s happening. The way the Patriots have jumped on the Cavs. I mean, 66% from the field. Just a outstanding display of shooting and just execution on the offensive end and thought they did even better job towards the latter part of that quarter. And now the Cavs are just shooting 45% from the from the field. So being able 66 from the from the 66% from the field is probably not sustainable over the the stretch of the games, but being able to defend at a high level is something they got to be able to rely on. Second quarter will begin. Cleveland will dig a little bit deeper into its bench. The veteran Isaac Aoro checks in for the first time. They will continue to play with Mobley, Wade, Mitchell all in the game. They’ll bring it right to left. Strus is the other man out there. They play in the white with the Navy, wine, and gold. Numerous letters and trim. The Pacers are in the yellow. Blue and white complimentary colors will set the lineup when they get the ball. The second quarter begins with Mitchell driving down the middle of the lane and missing off the front of the rim. Pacers on a 10-point run. Bring it left to right on the left side. Toppin, Obie Topphen, TJ McConnell, Andrew Nehart, Benedict Mathan, and Pascal Seakum. The Pacers on the floor. And now’s crosscourt pass zipped right between Matther and Seakka and sailed out of bounds. A little miscommunication there. Mado thought Seak was doing something different than he was. Obly aggressively drives Tophen into the lane, feeds the corner. Wade drives from there. He got into the lane and then pitches it out to the open Mitchell. He misses another three. Rebound to Coro and he lays it in. Bases were plus four on the board in the first quarter, but this is potentially a problem area. And that time on the putback, a Cororo ends Indiana’s 10-point run. The Pacers lead 36-27. Left wing shot spins off the rim. That was Seakkum. Strus has the ball for Cleveland. Up the floor, Wade. Wade gives it back to Strus. And now center of the floor. Mobley outside the arc. He hands it to Stru. Struus to Wade. Fakes the three. Drives by Tophen. Back up top. Strus is wide open, but he missed a three. Boy, they are missing some good looks. Yeah, he dodged two there. Donov Mitchell had one last time and that time comes Spruce. Offensive foul top and under the goal trying to carve out space and as the officials view muted a tad too aggressively turnovers early in the game. Cleveland with four the Pacers with five and Indiana has also been assessed the delay of game warning. So any subsequent such violation would be a technical foul. Indiana by nine early second quarter in Cleveland game here or game two here on Tuesday night. Game three in Indianapolis on Friday and game four on Sunday. Mitchell brings it up for Cleveland. High middle screen Moley. He rolls to the foul line, takes the pass, bounces it once, gets inside and lays it in. Just no match there in the paint to slow down Moley. 36-29 Cleveland back to within seven. Toppin handles driving left hand down the left side fakes once leans in up and under left to right with that long right arm. He pitched it in off the glass. And a tough finish there over motion. 38-29 Indiana by nine. Now Mitchell draws contact again. This time over near the right hash mark and he threw it toward the goal hoping he’d be awarded three foul shots. He won’t get that, but he did get the foul called on McConnell. We’ve got 16 seconds to get a shot. 10 minutes 8 seconds left to play in quarter two. Pacers lead Cleveland 38-29. Moley has him for the home team. He hands it off on top. Mitchell with it on that logo at center court being watched by Nehart. The shot clock down to nine. Mitchell will make his move with the shot clock at five. Lobbing it to the top of the circle down the right side. One bounce got Moley to the goal and he laid it off the glass. Mobley has nine. It’s 3831. Pacers by seven. McConnell hard baseline drive left side up and under. Left to right with a right hand finish. Sneak attack on that baseline. Right to left cross gets to the other side of the rim against Stru Lasers 40, Cleveland 31. Mitchell down the right side. He got to the goal and laid it in. Here comes the first Cavaliier to hit double figures with 11. Seakum has it for the Pacers. The lead is seven. Toppen on top gives to McConnell. McConnell to Seakum right edge of the arc. Let’s go to Indianapolis. We’ll check in with Pat. Well, on that rebounding subject, Tyresese Hallebertton was asked about areas that they’re going to have to improve upon from round one to round two. And he listed rebounding first, saying, “We’re going to have to rebound. These guys crash way harder than Milwaukee.” He’s referencing the offensive glass where the Bucks were 29th in offensive rebound. the Cavs 15th. But rebounding in general, massive. In fact, Cleveland 41-4 this year when they win the rebounding battle. That’s a winning percentage of 91%. So, so far Indiana plus five. A good early start in a key category. Out of the timeout, Cleveland plays with Aoro Struz, Hunter Allen returns to the lineup and Jerome. Pacers have the ball in a 10-point lead. Hallebertton brings it front court. Pacers in yellow, left to right. Cavaliers defend in white. Hallebert nomalogo at center court. There’s a whistle off the ball and the Pacers have turned it over. An offensive foul called on Walker. Jerus Walker getting getting tied up with DeAndre Hunter. It’s really no no point in it. Just got to release contact and get to your spot as you try to execute an offensive play there. Pacers by 10. Jerome off the high middle screen from Allen. That got him right of the lane, but Turner reached in and poked it away. Here comes Hallebertton. Top of the arc, perimeter right Shepard. He’ll hook it back to Hallebertton. Hallebertton will launch it to the far corner. Shepard is open, but he missed a three and it’s rebounded by Jerome of Cleveland. 5 minutes gone. Second quarter, 4737. Jerome right down the middle of the lane, but his floater is badly off target. A terrific offensive rebound by Aoro and he got it right back down low where Jerome converted. They’ve got three offensive rebounds. Okoro has two of them. Great job there by by Okoro. Eight-point pacer lead. Hallebertton up top against Allen. Left edge of the arc. Walker. Hunter is on Walker. And now Hallebertton takes it back and launches a long three. It deflects into the corner and out of bounds. That’s the first time in five tries that Hallebertton has missed a field goal attempt. That’s not not a great attempt. Maybe a heat check of sorts, but they’ve done a great job with their execution so far. 25 left in the half. The Pacers are eight points better than the Cavaliers. Driving right side scoring Jerome and he’s on the line. A floater from the right side and as he connected, he was fouled. He will be on the line with Cleveland having cut the Pacer lead down to six. Ben Shepard picks up his first. I was thinking about, you know, the discipline you must show throughout the course of a game [Music] to subdue any sort of rhythm or runs that the Cavs may go on. So again, going back to that last shot attempts, excellent foul shooter as he demonstrates here. Jerome at 87% during the regular season has scored five of his seven points here in the second quarter. Three-point lay complete. Cleveland was down 12. They’re back to within five. Hallebertton has it way out near the left hash mark. Now he’ll give it up left sideline. Walker drives it, gets to the foul line with it. Now retreats and gives it back to Hallebertton on the logo. Hallebertton driving against Allen. Gives it to N Smith and he drains a three right of center. Yeah, Max Struce gets caught in no man’s land. Leaves Nith the best three-point shooter on the floor for the Patriots. Nmith hit 52% of his threes in that Milwaukee series. This one pushes the advantage back up to eight. 540 left in the second quarter. Jerome has it. High middle screen. Stress. Strus peels away. Pick and pop three and Struce hit it from the left edge again. Putting Pallebertton in that ball screen and he’s showing instead of what you would typically do is switch. So that leaves his man wide open for the three-point shot. Mayhem cut it from 12-2. Now Turner lobs it to the right edge of the arc. Hallebertton sends it back to the other side of the floor. Lee Smith bounces once and unloads an offtarget three from the left side hash mark. 510 left in the second quarter. Cleveland down two. This is their first extended burst of the game. And now off the ball. Another offensive foul. Gives it right back to Cleveland. It’s on Nith. That’s his second. And with 453 left to play in the half, Merrill is back in for Cleveland. Merryill will play in Strus’s place working with Hunter, Jerome, Allen, and Aoro. The Pacers have Seakman, Nehart, Hallebertton, Nmith, and Turner. Pacers have been in front most of the half. They haven’t trailed since early in the first quarter and never by more than three points. Free ball off the bounce front rim short. Rebound Seakum 50. Well, that scoreboard keeps changing. Cleveland score. Just a second ago it said 50 to 24. It was 50 to 48 about a possession ago and now it’s 50 to 45. I don’t know what the score is. I think it’s 45. It’s got to be 45 over here. Merrill his first. Meanwhile, Merrill is called for a foul. His first, team second. Pacers will go to the line. It’s 50 to 45. Nehart shooting two. Mehart was really good in the Milwaukee series. The numbers don’t jump. 15 points a game, but he hit half of his three-point shots. He had a 6 to1 assist to turnover ratio. And that doesn’t even take into account his presence on the defensive end. Yeah. Sign me up for those numbers. Anytime for your your offguard, your best perimeter defender taking on major challenges on that end. Nhard made the foul shot. It’s 52 to 45. The Pacers are in front by seven. Cleveland continues to struggle from three-point range. They’re four of 18. And now Lee Smith up top knocks Hunter to the floor and is tagged with his third foul. Happened right in front of Rick Carile. He is less than pleased not with Nith but with the officiator. That’s going to be Nith’s third. That’s a big big foul there. Yep. See if he what he decides to do. We’ve got 4 minutes and 22 seconds left to play in the half. He’s going to bring Matan back into the game for N. [Music] Smith. Roy Pearson. and Jenny Busk were both up trying to talk Rick off the ledge. Looked like he may have uh on the break of earning attack, but cooler heads prevail. So Nmith in all likelihood will not resurface until the third quarter, having picked up his third foul. Mers are in front by seven. They’ve led by as many as 12. They’ve not trailed since early and never by more than three. Cleveland will play it in near side. 15 fouls. Indiana three, Cleveland two. They’re mopping up the floor over here on the near sideline. Just about set to resume play. Hunter will play it in near side. Hashmark Matan will challenge. Leading scores 11 points a piece for Mitchell and Moley of Cleveland. Seakum of the Pacers has 13. Looks like we’re just about set to go. [Applause] Both these teams rely on their depth. I’m just taking a look at the amount of players that played already in this in this game. Patients have gone 10 men deep and 10 men deep and CS have gone nine. Inbound pass knocked away by Turner. Stolen by Matan. Up the floor comes Matan. Left edge of the arc. Centers to Hallebertton. Hallebertton moving to his right. Penetrates the arc. Gives it up to Seakka. Left edge of the circle. Jump shot short. rebound chased down in the far corner. Hunter has it for Cleveland. 406 left in the half. Cleveland down seven. Now Hunter navigates to the right edge of the ark and hits a pullup three. 52 to 48. Indiana’s lead is four. Seakum handling on top trying to get it to Hallebertton but could not. Goes to Nemhard instead. Nehar driving right hand penetrates the arc to the right wing. Now he’ll go to the foul line. Seakum there against Hunter. Hands to Mathan. Math with five to shoot. Lets a three go. Left edge and that’s good. That is a tough shot with the clock winding it down. Really good defense defensive possession by the Cavs there. Big difference in the first half, the three-point shooting. The Cavaliers are the league’s second best three-point shooting team. Hunter rebounds his own miss shot and got it up top where Merrill took it into the lane and hit the floater. In this game though, Cleveland is five of 19 from three-point range. The Pacers shooting a very, very impressive eight of 14. And now a pass into the lane. Caught under the rim by Seakum as he’s knocked to the floor by Merrill. And team fouls now. Reed Cleveland three, Indiana three. A non-shooting foul. The ball will come in from the baseline. Cleveland will substitute. Mobley is back in. So is Mitchell. Coral and Jerome go to the side. Double check. That may have been Jerome hit with that foul down there. Yep, you are correct. So that’s his first five-point pacer lead. 306 left to play in the quarter. Indiana has cooled a bit, but they’re still shooting really well. 60% they were at 67% in the first quarter. Nine on the shot clock. Ball will come in. Free throw line extended now near side. Pacers are in front by five here in game one. Hallebertton gets it in near side corner. Nehart Mitchell is on Nemhart. Nehart at the edge of the arc. Backs it up toward the sideline and then bounces it to the logo. Hallebertton takes it there. Back to Nemhart working the bounce. He got a three up over Maryland. Connected from way out on the left edge. Dance with him first. They get the step backs to go. Big shot. Racers nine of 15 from outside the arc. Perhaps the primary reason they’re in front by eight. Mitchell got into the lane at the other end and tossed in a right-hand runner that bounced in off the front of the rim. He’s having his way with this ball screen action to get up and and stop the ball. Cleveland now gets a delay of game warning. So, both teams have been warned. If it happens again either way, it would be a technical foul. Across the timeline, Hallebert accelerates to the right wing down to the baseline, feeds Seakim, who takes it to the top of the three-point arc, handing it off to Nhard. Nemhart kills the dribble, bounces right of the lane. Seakum on the catch against Allen. 6 seconds to shoot. Seakum being challenged by Allen. Lets it fly. It’s an air ball from the right wing. Mobley saves it from going out of bounds. 213 left in the half. Indiana 58, Cleveland 52. Mitchell drives the lane, gets to the goal, and scores again. Once again, the ball’s great action. That time they’re trying to they’re up with it. He splits the ball screen. Great show of skill with the ball handling there. able to get the floater to go. That’s what force a timeout. 2 minutes and 6 seconds left in the second quarter. Indiana’s lead has been carved down to four. A good find by Hallebertton. Turner does a great job of keeping the ball high above the smaller Mitchell. Turns out that last shot by Nhard was a two, not a three. So, it’s 62 to 56 as Cleveland misses a shot at the other end. And then Mitchell down low has his shot spanked away. Here comes Nimhart. Pacers on the attack. Terrific bounce pass. Nehart into the lane. Turner in traffic caught it and as he went up, he was fouled. He will go to the line. Turner with a block shot at the other end and he’s got three block shots in the first half. Yeah, terrific job there. Here they give up the offensive rebound, but what a job of sticking with it without foul and Turner’s able to come up with the block shot and Nimhard rewards him on the other end with a nice bounce pass right at the rim. He had 24 points and six assists against the Pacers in that April Cleveland loss in Indianapolis. He didn’t play in the other three games. He was sick. He had a bad left knee. That’s the huge differentiator here so far. The Cavs 25% from three. The Pacers are 60% from three. They’re just three of four from the foul line, just four first half attempts. Indiana plus one on the glass. The Cavaliers are plus three in the turnover margin. And the Pacers lead by six at halftime, 6458. We’ll take a look around the NBA next. We look ahead to the third quarter. Pacers played a very good first half, but if you look at these numbers, Eddie, I do not expect the Cavaliers to shoot 25% from three-point range. I do not expect the Pacers to shoot 60% from three-point range. Nor do I expect the Pacers to outrebound the Cavaliers, although they did in the first half. The point I’m making is this. Cleveland, I would think, feels pretty good down only six with all that has happened so far. Yeah, I would agree. and and uh from a patient perspective um you know you think about some of the three-point shots that the Cavs did miss. They let some guys get free and let them get loose that you otherwise would rather not. Uh namely Sam Merrell, Donovan Mitchell had a couple open attempts um early on. I thought the Cavs took a lot of challenged ones, contested bad ones. I thought the Patient did a really good job there. So, want to be able to continue to maintain that. Again, looking at the rebounding perspective and Cavs just have five offensive rebounds. Uh as good as they are, Um, from a rebounding perspective, you’ll take that right now. We’ll like to keep that number under 10 if you can on the night. Third quarter begins with original starters on the floor. Tyrese Hallebertton, Andrew Nemhart, Aaron Nesmith, Pascal Seakum, and Miles Turner. The Pacers are in yellow with blue and white numerals, letters, and trim. Cleveland with Donovan Mitchell, Max Strus, Sam Merrill, Jared Allen, and Evan Mobley. No Darius Garland tonight. No word on his potential availability yet for game two on Tuesday. Cleveland plays in the white with the navy wine and gold numerals letters and trim. They get it first left to right to start the third quarter. They haven’t led since very early in the game and never by more than three points. They have trailed by as many as 12. Third quarter begins with a misfired three out of the near corner. Mitchell, he’s one of seven from out there. And the Pacers lead by six with Hallebertton handling. He’s on the logo at center court now. off flips it to the left edge. Nemhard there he’ll go up top. Turner with a catch and shoot three. Turner is off target. Both teams miss a three on their first possession of the third quarter. Mley brings it up for Cleveland. Picks up the dribble. Right edge of the arc. Feeds the foul line. Allen hands it off. Merryill has it left to the lane. Now further out to Mitchell. 10 seconds to shoot. Mitchell driving right into Hallebert and got to the dotted half and kicked it out to the edge where Merrill missed a catch and shoot three. Offensive rebound Moley and from the blind side, Nmith blocked Mitchell’s three-point attempt. This leads to an Indiana break and Nith takes a pass right edge of the ark and hits a three. Beautiful sequence there by Nesmith. He comes back and recovered for the block shot and Hallebert hits him in transition for the three ball. Acers by nine. Ball knocked out of bounds near side as the ball moves into the Cleveland fourourt. They’ll play it in from out near the hash mark. 17 to shoot. 1047 to play. Bad boy and Eddie Gill. I’m Mark Oil. We appreciate you spending time with us tonight. We are in Cleveland, game one of the Eastern Conference semifinal series between the Pacers and the Cavaliers. Stress with the ball left edge of the arc, bounces it to the sideline. Good clean look at a three. Bobby hit it, but he was standing on the sideline when he caught it. He was out of bounds. He was wide open, too. They had a very nice screen set for him in that corner, but ran out of space. Acers have led by as many as 12. Right now they have the ball in a nine-point lead. Early third quarter in Ohio and Hallebert will bring it across against Scroos. Way out left edge now. Moves it to the edge of the arc. Sends a crosscourt pass to the far corner. Nehar drives it to the wing, bounces it down to the right block. Turner has the size advantage. He’ll turn on Strus and they say he’s fouled before the shot. They had Strus at a big disadvantage there. He doesn’t have the size to play Turner down on that block. Yeah, great job there of recognizing that and Turner immediately gets to the attack position and is able to draw the foul. First team foul either way. 1023 left in the third quarter. 6758 Indiana leads Cleveland by nine. Nehart up top. Nearly threw it away. Good rescue on the catch by Hallebertton. He gives it back to Nehart. Nehart with a hesitation dribble then feeds the bounce pass to the right edge of the arc. From there, Siaka misses the three. And here comes Merrill for Cleveland. Up the floor to the left side. Hash. An immediate catch and shoot. And Strus hit it from way out on the left end. His second field goal of the game. Both are three-pointers. 67-61 Pacers. 954 left in the third quarter. Hallebertton with a set shot three for the left edge. Front rim short. Merryill with a rebound. And Cleveland down six will move it left to right. Stru across the timeline. Strus way out, left edge, center of the floor to Mitchell. Mitchell puts it on the floor with a left hand. Now feeds the right edge. Strus again. This time though, his three off the back of the rim. Long offensive rebound to Mobley. Gives it back to Strus. The lob to the goal. The catch and dunk. Mobley flushed it. That’s going to force a timeout, but you saw that coming there. A couple offensive rebounds here early on in this this third quarter, giving the Cavs opportunity to get back into the game. Cleveland back to within four. When the Pacers win, bring a friend. Pacers trying to take advantage of no Darius Garland here tonight. You look at the two teams backcourts for Indiana, Nemhard and Hallebertton. And that duo during the regular season combined average 29 points per game. They’re at 21 here so far. So off to a good start. That duel, by the way, also has 11 assists. The back court in Cleveland. Mitchell and Merrill have combined for 18. Obviously, you don’t have Garland, and you’re missing some firepower there. So, the Pacers backcourt outscoring Cleveland’s here so far tonight. Those two guards are their two leading scorers. Mitchell at 24 a game and during the regular season, Garland at 20 and a half. Pacers have it out of the timeout. They’ll continue to play with starters and so will Cleveland. Indiana brings it to length right to left there in yellow. Cleveland is in white and we’re back at it with Seakum handling and he’ll bring it up without resistance crossing over on the right sideline now accelerating against Allen. Got him down to the right block and then sent it outside. Hallebertton left edge to Nemhart. Hops his way into the lane. Feeds Turner at the foul line and Turner drops home two. That’s a great read by Turner able to create enough space there right at the top of the key to get that little mid-range jumper to go. Cleveland has scored five straight to Prompton, Indiana. A timeout before that Turner field goal. 6963. Mitchell right up the middle. He sets up Allen who dunks it and then lands flat on his back. He’s getting up and appears to be okay. He dunked and landed on his back. 6965. Nemhardt from the left edge hits a three. Oh, Pat able to take advantage of the five on four there. Allen went down hard. It looks like Turner actually fouled him on that dump. And the fans reacting to that are not at all pleased. Neither is Cleveland’s coach, Kenny Atkinson. Now Hallebertton knocked it away from Mitchell. But Cleveland got it back. Mitchell has it on the right edge. 6 seconds to shoot. Cleveland down by seven. Mitchell pulls up. Got Hallebertton into the air. And that’s a foul on Hallebertton outside the arc. And they might give him three foul shots this time. Yeah, I couldn’t tell where his right foot was. It’s going to be close to the line. Looks like he is getting three. will take a look at it. His first step back and shot fake gets Hallebertton off his feet. It wasn’t violent contact, but there’s no doubt that Turner fouled Allen. We just had a look at a couple of replays. The officials just missed it. Yeah, definitely. Yeah, that bench interrupted Kenny Atinson was almost out on the floor, but uh that enabled the Patriots to get out on the other end and play five on four. They rule it a two shot foul, not a three. Yeah, I thought that right foot was close to the line. Each team with one team foul here in the early stages in quarter three. Mitchell knocks down the foul shot. He’s got 16 points. He averaged 27 a game against the Pacers. Played in just two of the four head-to-head matchups, the early ones in January. Didn’t play in the two April games. This is his eighth season. He started with Utah. He’s been an All-Star six times. Three with the Jazz and now three with the Cavs. Second foul shot back rim. He’s one of three from the foul line. And now a late whistle. And when I say late, it’s a timely whistle for a loose ball foul, but I don’t think that’s the call here. I’m not sure what I think maybe they’re going to say a lane violation. What are they going to say? Nothing. They said inadvertent whistle. They said you just burned 10 seconds of your life. That’s the patient’s ball going the other way. So Mitchell made one of two. That cuts the Cleveland deficit down to six. 821 to go in quarter three. Seakum will bring it up. Allen will wait for him at the other end. Seakum comes across, moves the dribble to the top of the three-pointer, gives to Hallebert and strong drive right side. Beautifully executed floater. Yes, very nice job. Little ball screen action between he and Seakum. He gets the rip through and floater. Reed is back to eight. Cleveland attacking. Four minutes gone. Third quarter. Allen in the lane, swooping to the goal and scooping it off the glass. 74-68. Mobley set him up. Now Seakum has the ball for the Pacers. Indiana hasn’t trailed since it was 86 for Cleveland. Turner drives to the wing. Pitches it to the top. Beautiful ball movement with Seakum from the top. A touch pass into the near corner and knee. Smith hit a three. Absolutely initiated by the shot fake by Turner in the far corner to put the Cavs in a bad way. And now a lob inside, but Allen misses the left hand off the pass from Merrill. Pacers up nine, moving right to left. 729 left in the third quarter. Hallebertton near corner, drives the baseline, hooks it back up top. Nehard right back down low in front of the rim. Turner passed up a shot and sent it out to N Smith who hits another three. Nmith has been rock solid from the perimeter here for the Patriots. Forcing another timeout. Well, I said they wouldn’t go nine of 15. They’re shooting better than that in the third quarter. And now they’ve outscored Cleveland from three-point range by 21 points. 12-point lead matches the largest of the night. Good response. It was 6763 at the Indiana timeout. That was 2 minutes and 10 seconds ago. And since then, the Pacers have gone on a 135 run. You’re listening to Pacers playoff basketball on the Elevance Health Radio Network. The Pacers have been in front almost from the beginning. They last trailed at 86. Their 12-point lead had been cut to four. That prompted a timeout. But then over the last 2 minutes and 10 seconds, the Pacers have gone on a 135 run and they pushed the lead back up to 12 at 82-68. Jarus Walker checks back into the game. His first appearance of the second half. And we’ll set the lineups when we come back. But first, let’s hear from Pat in Indianapolis. Well, we talked about how Andrew Neard was really struggling coming into the playoffs and how well he’s played flipping that switch. For Aaron Nesmith, it’s just been doing a whole lot more of the same. He was at 46% from the three-point line over his final 22 games in the regular season. Four of five tonight has him up to 56% from the three-point line. That duo of Nmith and Nemhard really shooting it well in the playoffs for Indiana. And the Pacers as a team are shooting it at better than well 61% 59% from three-point range. Moy and Mitchell take a seat out of the timeout. Ty Jerome and DeAndre Hunter are in. Nesmith almost stole the ball, knocking it into the back court, but Cleveland recovered. Merryill has it. Right edge of the arc. Merryill sends it center of the floor to Jerome. Jerome fakes the shot now drives by Turner. Pulls up left of the lane. offbalance right hand floater and he got the bounce from the baseline. That was a nice shot. It was, but there was a deflection there. They ended up getting a fresh 24. I didn’t think the Pacers had possession. 80 to 70 as TJ McConnell tries to go up and under, right to left, but cannot convert. Looked like his shot was blocked. Indiana leading by 10. No block shoted, so he just missed it going up and under. And now Merrill is open and hits a three out of the far corner. That’s the guy. He missed his first two. Then I think since then he’s made two. 80 to 73. Cleveland with five quick points out of a timeout. McConnell has it. Moving right to left. Hands to Hallebertton. McConnell. Hallebertton. Kneesmith. Walker and turner on the floor. Walker in the lane. A knuckle ball from the dotted half circle finds the mark. That’s good patience there by Walker. He catches that ball in chaos right there in the lane. Then we’ll get a floater to go. 82-73. 556 left in the third. Hunter has it on top. Gives it to Merrell. Strong drive. Left hand into the lane. Juggled but controlled by Allen. And now back out to Hunter. 9 seconds to shoot. Walker harassing Hunter and he’s called for a reachin foul. That’s his second. Team fouls. Cleveland with one and Indiana now with two. 46 left in the third. The Pacers are in front by nine here in game one. 14 on the shot clock. Ball will be played in far side. Free throw line extended. Strus gets it left of the lane. Allen just simply got away from Turner. Caught it and laid it in. Hurry gets caught on the high side there of the elbow just allowing him to get to the lane free and clear. 82 to 75. Pacers right to left in yellow. Hallebertton against Allen. Beat him on the bounce. Sends it to the far corner. Walker’s open. Passed up a three. Nmith takes it. Drives to the goal and he’s going to the line twice. A very irritated Max Strus is agreeing to disagree with the officials on this one. Well, if Kenny Atkinson is looking to his guidance to see if he can challenge, this will be the worst challenge known to man. It’s mind-blowing that Max reacted that way. When you see the replay, he gets plenty of his wrist and forearm. I think you overstate the case because you can’t really watch Benedict Matan all season and say anyone’s reaction is mindblowing. Well, it was equally. How about that? Yeah, I I’ll go with that. I’ll go with that. Yeah, Ben Mat has certainly had his moments of reactions where he’s uh clearly guilty of the foul. Dean Wade is in. He played in the first half, did not score. Donovan Mitchell returns. his rest with bre and quickly Andrew Nimhard. I’ve been watching this especially in the first half and really throughout this game. Rick Carlile and his staff making sure they match Nimhart’s minutes with Mitchell. Anytime Mitchell’s on the floor, Nimhard will be on the floor. Mitchell does have 16 points, but he’s only seven of 18 from the floor. One of eight from three-point range. Nmith made the first. Pacers now going with a lineup as Nmith made the second. Hallebert and Nmith, Nemhardt, Walker and Turner. Pacers have been great from the line. In fact, perfect nine of nine. They lead by nine. 519 left in the third. And now an 8second call as Nmith prevented Jerome from crossing the timeline. That’s an amazing job by Aaron Eastmith. He picks him up full court and just dogs him the whole way and is able to come up with that 8second call. Well, you don’t see that very often. And that’s just terrific work and and sheer willpower on an East Park. Pacers with it. 518 to play third quarter. They have the ball, but a nine-point lead. They’ve been in front almost from the beginning here in game one. Allebertton yo-yoing left edge. He got Allen to back off, but he missed the three. Walker got his hands on the rebound, but Mitchell controls it, lobs it to the hoop at the other end, and Allen caught it and dunked it. 84-77 for Indiana. We’re down to 456 to play in the third. Hallebertton down the left side puts up a shot that’s badly off target with Hunter challenging. At the other end, Mitchell right to the goal and it’s recycled in front by Turner. However, a whistle and a foul. Mitchell was able to get into his body first to draw that foul. But still a great job by Mitchell or excuse me by Turner continuing to play. Otherwise, that’s an and one opportunity. Has three blocks on the night. That is team foul number three, but it’s a shooting foul. So, Mitchell will go to the line. Obie Topphen will check in for the first time. Seakan McConnell will return for the first time this half. Toppin did play and scored six points in the first half. Mitchell an uncharacteristic one of three from the foul line so far. He shoots two here with 446 left in the third and the first one stays down. Pass by Seak for the Pacers. So as McConnell, Seakum and Topen check in, Turner leaves, Walker leaves, and the Pacers will play with Nehart, McConnell, Knee Smith, Toppenhen, and Seakum. One more for Mitchell. He is Cleveland’s leading scorer in this game with 17. Nmith is Indiana’s top man with 16. Foul shots are good and Cleveland is back to within five. 443 left in the third quarter. McConnell brings it across, handing it to N Smith, center of the floor. Perimeter right topping. Back to McConnell driving down the right side, gets to the baseline and tried to dump it into the lane, but it went through the hands of Toppin. This leads to a break and Mitchell’s on the line again, shooting two. I don’t know if Toppin wasn’t ready or maybe the pass had just a little bit too much zip. Yeah, but he was open under the goal. I think he was ready. I think it had too much zip to it. They were there was a short distance between the two of them and he fired a pass and got through his hands. Crowd now becoming more involved as they well just picked up his fourth foul also. Good job by Mitch with just immediately attacking him and there in that fast break opportunity. Mitchell shooting two. The first stand to keep an eye on Matan will replace him. Yes, he can mather come up with some productivity here in his absence, but also how long do you wait till you go back to knee? Although he’s just got those four. 84 to 80 as Mitchell made the first. One more. You can make it a onepossession game and he does. He’s made his last four foul shots. Indiana 84, Cleveland 81. They’re on a 134 run. Pacers have the ball right to left in yellow. Seakov is called for a double dribble. He lost control of the ball out on the left edge and turned it over. They don’t really organize where they’re trying to get that going and all of a sudden Rocket Arena has come alive. Quiet for the most part throughout this game. Cleveland down three and they’ve got the ball. They move it left to right. Mitchell has it against Nehart out near the timeline. Mitchell with a left hand in the top of the three-point arc. lets it fly and it falls off the front of the rim. Long rebound though, picked up by Jerome. Gives to Mitchell. Mitchell drives and dumps it with a right hand coming in from the left side. It’s a one-point game at 84 to 83. They’re on a 15-4 run. 350 left in the third quarter. Now McConnell picks up the dribble, sends it to the top. Seakum relays to Nehart. Nehart at the edge of the arc. Still holding the bounce. Now goes right of the lane with seven to shoot. Siaka will take it to Wade. Wade cuts him off. Tough shot. Air ball. Rebound underneath. Top and outside to Matan. He had to hurry and he beat the shot clock, but he missed off the front of the rim from three-point range. Cleveland looking to go in front for the first time since 86. But a driving right hand from Mitchell won’t go. Offensive rebound Moley and he finishes. Well, offensive rebounds. Talked about that coming into this third quarter and it’s been a problem here. Part of the reason why the Cavs have been able to take this one-point advantage. They are on a run. They were down 80 to 68. But since then, they’ve outscored the Pacers 17-4 over the last four minutes and 1 second. We’ve alluded to the rebounding issues from time to time. The Pacers really did well in that category in the first half. They actually outrebounded Cleveland by one, but here in the third quarter, you mentioned the offensive rebounds. Overall, they’ve outrebounded the Pacers by seven in this third quarter. And that’s one of the reasons they’re back in front. Yeah, the Pacers haven’t been able to score the same level they were in the first half. So, there is a big gap in terms of who wins one and who wins the series. The Pacers trying to hold on and steal game one. 323 to go. That, to say the least, is a long, long time in an NBA game. I don’t mind this. 231 remaining. I thought it was close live. Yeah, this is this is like one of the better challenges ever you’re getting to the end of the game. If you’re wrong, so be it. I think he was there, but I still think this is a good challenge. I do. Yeah, I do. I do. It’s certainly worth, you know, in terms of riskreward and time and score. Yeah, I think that probably this call is going to stand. Yeah. But but we’ll see. But I just find it interesting to to watch that whole thing transpire in in a matter of seconds. the decision- making that has to happen because if they don’t decide, you know, a ball’s going to be inbounded and that kind of thing. You see, they have the quick exchange and decide to go ahead and review it. And Tactara pulls off a headset. Here he comes. After after review, Strus is able to establish his left foot down prior to the upward motion of Turner. Therefore, an offensive foul stands. It’s an unsuccessful challenge. Indiana loses the timeout and the right to challenge. We agree on two things, do we not? A, it was a good challenge and B, that’s the right call. We Yes, I I I certainly agree there. Uh, uh, it was definitely close enough. Again, time and score situation. You don’t get it right because if you get that challenge, you’re going to be up at least 10 and maybe 11. Correct. Yep. So, he’s still in in still in the driver’s seat with a chance to get out of here with a 10 lead. 114 to 106. 231 left in the fourth quarter of game one. Cleveland brings it threequarters court. Strus has it. Hallebertton, who’s made some significant defensive plays here in the last several possessions. Here’s the defender. Now Mitchell has it way out left edge against Nemhart. And there was a whistle. Somebody threw something onto the court. No, no, no. Uh Mitchell Mitchell lost his Yeah, that’s it. [Applause] Well, a cynic might ask, how could he lose his arm sleeve if he wasn’t fouled? I like it. Well, I’m I’m trying to figure out how he lost it. Yeah. Yeah. I I don’t know that I’ve ever seen that. Those are typically uh pretty snug. 14 on the shot clock, 221 on the game clock. Indiana leading by eight and trying to close this one out. And now he can’t get it in. He had to call a timeout. Oh, they were in trouble. Nhard does a great job of navigating that screen. They’re trying to get the ball into Donovan Mitchell. They run what we call a zipper screen that just basically a pin down for him to get it up there around the logo. And Limar did a great job of negotiating the screens and and deny that ball in bounds. That leaves both teams with one timeout. By the way, this officially qualifies now as a close game. And these were two of the better teams in the league in that category. The Pacers were 24 and 14. The Cavs were even better. They were 26 and 12 in games that were with under 5 minutes to go. opponents within five points of one another. While we have a minute here, let’s get to our Indiana Soybean Alliance versatile player of the game off of the bench. We’ll let Pat go first this time. Your thoughts, please. I will go with [Music] I’ll go behind. All right, Eddie. Yeah, I would agree. Me, too. Although I’ll give honorable mention to Matan Patapen I think uh deserves the Indiana Soybean Alliance versatile player of the game award. Indiana Soybean Alliance wants to remind fans that soybeans are the versatile crop of Indiana providing Hoosiers with food, fuel, and fiber every day. Pacers trying to nail this one down, but there’s a long way to go. They lead by eight with 2 minutes and 21 seconds remaining. Cleveland will have the ball on the far side. Both teams have one timeout remaining. Two things very important here and they’re important through the entirety of the game, but extremely important in these moments. Rebound the basketball, hold the Cavs to one shot and then when you get on the other end, take care of the basketball. You can’t have any turnovers, specifically live ball turnovers where the Cavs can get out and get easy ones. Ball will be played in by Jerome over on the far side outside the hash mark from that sideline. Challenged by Nesmith. He lobbs it to the left sideline. Mitchell has it there. Mitchell bouncing to the top. Jerome swings to Stru and Strus had his three blocked by Hallebertton again. Turner caught the ball in the lane. Boy, Hallebertton has made some plays. Yes, he has. He’s got the ball now on the offensive end. 205 to play. The Pacers lead by eight. Hallebertton’s on the logo off the Turner screen at the edge of the arc. Seven to shoot inside the arc. Pulls up right wing. Leans in and gently scoops it off the glass. Wow. He’s got 20. The Pacers lead by 10 with a minute 49 to go. Cleveland now getting to the point where they are out of room for error and Mitchell missed the three. Nice offensive rebound Strus, but his right hand put back wouldn’t go and then Strus fouled Hallebertton. Cleveland had one to give. So with 98 seconds to go, the Pacers will play it in from back court. They’re up 10 with 98 seconds to go. Kroger proudly sponsors our performance in the game. many worthy candidates, but based on what’s happened over the last three or four minutes, I will nod toward Hallebert. I totally agree. I I totally agree. And not for what he’s done offensively, although he’s made a number of nice plays there defensively. He has been remarkable on the ball and and been able to come up with some timely block shots. Are we unanimous? We are. All right, then. Hallebertton has it at the offensive end. 87 seconds to play. Shot clock at 10. He’s well outside the arc. Left edge. He lost the ball. It’s stolen. Here comes Jerome. Pulls up. Right edge. Three ball clank. Rebound in the lane. Loose ball foul. Looked like Seakam knocked Mitchell to the floor. And that would be Seakam’s first. The Pacers with a minute 17 to go. Had one to give. Cleveland will play it in from the side. It’s a 10-point game with 77 seconds left. Are we uh are we calling checkmate yet? Well, considering we saw them win a game where they were down 7 40 seconds. Yeah. Okay. Fair points. Not just yet. They get a stop here, I’ll say yes. Mitchell drives the lane. They don’t get a stop. Mitchell takes it down the middle of the lane and dunks it. Eight-point game with 70 seconds left. Mitchell has scored 33 points. Hallebertton will get it in against fullcourt pressure. Meith back to Hallebertton. He’ll take it up against Jerome. He’ll use the left hand to get into the fourourt. Just over a minute to play. drives the lane, kicks it to the perimeter. Pacers in no hurry. Down to 57 seconds to go. Memhar to Hallebert and on top to Seakkum into the corner. Turner fakes, bounces, launches, and misses a three. Offensive rebound. Seakum. Can we call checkmate yet? I’m going to say that’s ball game. Here is fouled out near the timeline by Moley with 43 and 7/10 to go. And now the Pacers will start attempting to nail it down from the foul line. Well, nothing is guaranteed even if you do steal home court, but this puts Cleveland in a very pressure-packed situation Tuesday night. Yeah, Tuesday night they they will definitely uh need to come out with a with a different result. And uh and I tell you what, this Darius Garland thing, um while I thought they may have been trying to hold him back a hold him back in the previous series to get him ready for the second round, you see him not play in game one, it gives me a little bit more caution as to that he’s dealing with something a little bit more serious with that toe. And there something you can’t rehab when you have a toe injury. You just got to wait that thing out. Mehart made the foul shots. The Pacers have made all 11 of their foul shots. They lead by 10 with 40 seconds to go. Strus misses a three. Offensive rebound. Jerome has it. A three from right of center and he hits that. Jerome has scored 20 points in game one. Seven-point game with 34 and 210 seconds to play. Hallebertton working the baseline. Gets it into N Smith. He bounces it back to Hallebertton. And Hallebertton is fouled by Strus. back to the other end for Hallebert and foul shots. It’s 118 [Applause] 111. So the Pacers will take a one zero lead in this best of seven and try to move into serious control on Tuesday night. You get a two0 lead with both wins on the road. Still no guarantee of anything. But boy, you are in superb position there. There’s there’s no question about it. And from the start of this game, the Patriots came out unbothered by the atmosphere completely in control of what they wanted to get done and and very aggressive on both ends. Hallebertton knocks down the foul shots. Nine of his 22, not to mention a variety of defensive gems in this fourth quarter. 27 seconds left and his play moves to the fourourt. Jerome dancing that sideline, working his way toward the hash mark and then inside of it is fouled. That’s the fifth on Nmith. Both teams are in the penalty with 26 and 9. 10 seconds to go. They’ll keep him out here to to close this game out though. Nine-point game. Jerome is on the line twice. He’s got 20 points [Music] and he shoots two. First one is clean. [Applause] Look at that starting lineup. Big time production there out there on like Turner with the big double double. 13 points and 12 rebounds. Second foul shot off target. Smith rebounds and Cleveland will foul again. So we go right back to the other end where the Pacers are 13 of 13. That foul on Moley is third. Pacers by eight. They haven’t trailed very often tonight. When Cleveland made that impressive run toward the end of the third quarter and went from 12 down to four up, that 8-2 close to the third quarter was perhaps the single key stretch of the game. Yes. And that that’s just an area of growth and maturity for this team. Being able to withstand that, understanding that this team has been so good throughout the season, they’re inevitably were going to make a run, but the Patriots did a terrific job of responding. Mith hits the foul shot. Indiana 14 of 14 from the line and leading by nine with 24 and 7/10 left to go. The Pacers were up 11 at the quarter, six at the half, two after three and they lead by nine now with one foul shot coming from Nmith and they finally missed one. They made their first 14, but he got his own rebound. Tracked it down into the corner and now the Pacers may take a shot clock violation. will see Hallebertton drives in the lane and he will take the shot clock violation which will give Cleveland the ball with 8 and 210 seconds to play. 121 to 112. Just a really solid effort here in game one and Hunter will take the inbound. He won’t bother to get up another shot. So that’s your final 121 to 112. We will visit with somebody here in a moment or two from court side. So, we’ll wait until one of the contributors to tonight’s victory wanders over and joins us. In the meantime, your assessment, Eddie Gil, on the 1 to 10 scale, what are you given this? On the 1 to 10 scale, I’m going to give it a eight and a half. You don’t want to get too uh Yeah, Andrew Nhard has joined us courtside. He was one of many that contributed to this one. And the Pacers, Andrew, were really good from the start. There was that stretch though in the third quarter where Cleveland went from 12 down to four up. How did you get that turned around? Yeah, man. I think we did a great job controlling our emotions at that moment in the game. It got really loud in here and um felt like the the tide was switching a little bit, but we had a a bunch of stops where we got rebounds. I think that was the biggest thing for us getting those defensive rebounds um so we could push and play our game. But um good defensive effort. Yeah, Drew, talk a little bit about your your mindset. I’ve been incredibly impressed with your disposition and how you carry yourself. Uh I call you the the the silent assassin out there. A little bit of a silent arrogance that you carry in terms of how you play the game. Talk about your shot selection, shot making, and then also taking on those defensive tasks that you take on each and every night. Man, I love to compete and this is the best time to compete all year. So, um it’s fun for me, you know, always got that chip on my shoulder. I feel like, you know, I’m always second guessed and counted out. So, uh, I just love to hoop, love to win, and love to compete. If we look way back to early in the season, the Pacers at one stage this season were two of 11 on the road. If you count the playoffs where they’re two- one since then, they’ve gone 20 and9 on the road. How come so dominant on the road? That’s really impressive. I think we came together that part of the season. We really um got healthy also
