SIXERS NEW LOOK?!?! | SIP & SPORTS PODCAST | (SZN 3 EP 10)
Vincent Van Go, you know, people told him, “You can’t be a great painter. You only have one ear.” You know what he said? “I can’t hear you.” [Music] [Music] Yeah, right here. [Music] As always, God [Music] bless. You are now listening to Sipping Sports, a Philly sports talk morning show with Chris, KJ, and Dalt, proudly powered by 302 Birds. Let’s take it to the show. Good morning everybody. Happy Saturday. Hey, welcome to Sipping Sports. As Benny just said, the Saturday morning Philly sports talk show hosted by KJ McCoy, Chaos Chris, and Dalt Holland. Myself, Chaos Chris can’t be here today, so it’s just me and Mac on the mic, but we got a lot of fun for you guys on tap, including the Diamondbacks are in town. We’re going to be talking about that series with the Philadelphia Phillies. We’re going to be talking about some new Sixers threads that they could be rocking. KJ McCoy obviously got the sneak peek on right now. Talking about a little rumor that shout out to one of our producers and graphic designers and he really is a jack knife. He does it all. Joey Havens brought up who’s really an onair talent too. He’s a master of the white mind or a master of the whiteboard, a master of the draft. A really good dude. But one thing he brought up is he said, “Could LeBron James be brought back to Cleveland next year?” That’s a fun topic to talk about. So, we’re going to debate that. This is for you. I think it I think so. I think they’re going to get their man back. Stay tuned. And last but not least, we’re going to be recapping that White House visit. I actually was there, so that was pretty cool. I’ll talk about that. I know KJ had some questions. Um, some casual conversation we’ll have about it. just really laidback about what it was like being there, security, so on so forth. But first, let’s talk about the Philadelphia Phillies getting the job done last night, obviously, and today they got the first pitch against the Diamondbacks at 6:05 p.m. Are you nervous for this series? Are you excited? Yeah, I mean, it was a really good game last night. That was a great win by the Phils. I mean, those two shots by Schwarber and Kepler were great to see. Uh it was even really like for the first time in my life like I mean like I actually was like oh my gosh this is kind of cool like seeing home runs with these city jerseys. Um so it was kind of cool. They had the lights all blue and yellow and I was like I’m kind of like okay this is kind of cool. Still hate the jerseys but um like even my dad was complaining about them but yeah it’s um it’s a really big series. Really big series. The Diamondbacks obviously we talked about it on Wednesday. Um, I still have PTSD from the Diamondbacks. I really do. From 2023. I still want revenge on those jerks. Those freaking snakes in a boot that our buddy Freddy would call them. That That’s a snake in my boat or something like that. Um, but yes, I mean, they’ve left a bad taste in our mouth and I mean like to get them in the regular season at home would be great. That would be awesome. So, I I I think this series is huge. And to today, we actually have Aaron Nola on the mound and it’s about to be like 84 degrees. Um, shout out to my boy Rome. He kind of told me this information as well about that Aaron is actually pitching and it’s going to be 84 degrees and he actually pitches way better when it’s hotter outside. We’ve noticed right now, I mean, what it’s an 0 and6 start already with Aaron Nola. It’s been very disappointing with him. But when it’s hot weather, he he’s used to it because he played down in Louisiana in in the New Orleans area. So that’s where he’s from. And he plays better when there’s when it’s hot weather. It’s going to be 84 degrees. It’s going to be a great day. I don’t think it’s going to rain. I know that Freddy was saying it was going to be it might be a rained out game. I think it’s going to be a perfect baseball game today. I’m looking at the the weather and it looks great. So I think this series is going to be a crucial series for the Phillies to win. and already getting one game under their belt of a three-game series, I believe it’s three game series, is a great sign. So, if they can get this game today and pretty much win the series, it’s huge. Huge. Yeah, the Diamondbacks are a good team. We obviously know that they got the best of us a couple years ago. Last night was a good win. Um, it’s funny. I definitely agree with your dad. I hate those jerseys, too. I love the hats. And it’s funny because as you said it, I sort of had an idea. What if they took the gray uniforms and then put the navy blue hat with it? That actually kind of would have popped. I don’t know if you could have done like a navy blue Phillies with then maybe a yellow outline, but a gray uniform I think would have been better. But overall, the the shitty connects, as I like to call them, the shitty connects. I agree. The shitty connects. Last night, they they figured out a way to get the job done. Last year they were horrible in those uniforms. Their record was actually I think it was six and seven or it was five and six. It was it was right under 500 at home in the city connects. So this year I feel like they’re a lot better in them at least from what I’ve seen. And last night they got the job done. Today’s going to be a good test too for the Phillies because it’s like cool you got the job done in a tough hard fought win last night. What can you do today? That’s going to be the tough part. You know what I mean? like that’s kind of where this team is going to be made of. So I I want to see more out of the bats. Like three runs still isn’t enough. I want to see around five per game. I’ve been talking about that and I just feel like the bats haven’t really been there for the Phillies either. Now last night was actually the first Phillies game that I sat down and watched in a long time because I’ve just been so busy with the draft and other stuff. But from what I’ve seen from this Phillies team, there is a lot of parallels too with 2008, 2022, things like that. So, it is interesting. I’m I’m excited to see where this Phillies team goes and what’s next for them. But they got a lot more consistency to to be aware. Got to get back on on track. I mean, Trey Turner’s got to get back on track. It’s just it’s aggravating. and we kind of talked about on Wednesday um to not see those guys really contributing uh really that much offensively. So I think if those guys especially in these kind of games if you can really um get hot in these kind of games uh it’s a big factor I feel like. So, it’s it’s it’s a key factor for this team because if you have guys like that really trying to like find their groove, and they do find their groove, um it’s it’s going to be a really big morale for the team and hopefully it’ll keep them rolling and maybe get more wins than losses. Obviously, they’re not going to be like on like a big game winning streak of like freaking 20 games, but um I mean that’s because of the bullpen. I think that’s the main thing that’s really holding us back at times, too. But, um you also need to hit. I mean, our buddy Freddy said this on the Phillies postgame um that we did two days ago. You gotta you gotta hit. Like, we gotta hit. And that’s the main thing. The bats got to be alive. And uh Bryson Trey, they’re kind of just uh I mean, guys are stepping up right now. And you see Kepler getting a homer. You saw Kyle Schwarber who’s been sensational this season. Uh he’s leading leading the Phils and I think he’s maybe leading the MLB in home runs. He might be up there, but he’s just been sensational. So, Harper, Trey, you’re getting paid. You gota you got to show that you’re actually getting paid. So, go out there and do your thing because we we we know you guys can. It almost makes me wonder. I don’t know if you remember this. This is like when we first met. Yeah. We were interviewing David Bergner at the bank and it was when the Phillies first signed Trey Turner and I said, “How do you feel about Trey Turner like doing what he did in the USA World Baseball Classic?” and he said, “I hope he doesn’t crap out.” Meaning, I hope he didn’t just use all his energy and then sucks for the Philly. And it literally happened. He crapped out. Like, it’s fair to say he crapped out. So, I wonder if we could ask David Bergner, hey, is this kind of the opposite now? Do you feel? Is this like them kind of crapping out now? Yeah. And because they’re doing that now, they’re really gonna turn it on later in the year. That’s really interesting you bring that up. I forgot about that. And then Trey Turner had that really big slump where we were all calling for his head. Yep. And that’s pretty crazy. I mean, like that’s ins. I forgot that David did that. And David, shout out to him. Uh he’s the guy who wears Eagles jerseys 100 days. So, he’s mostly an Eagles fan, but he’s also a Philly sports fan. And for him saying that and predicting that, I mean, that’s insane. I mean, that’s crazy. That’s mindboggling. I totally forgot about that. That just shows like I mean, that’s I mean, I saw a clip recently that the USA manager for the World Baseball Classic was saying that his favorite players though were the Phillies players to coach. That’s what he was saying. He was like, I could always count on them. and he was like it was it was sensational to see Trey Turner hit that um that grand slam. But I mean David was right though. Did he use up everything? It seemed like he did at that point. But now it’s little dust has settled a little bit now. Uh I think it’s a good time for Trey Turn to strike back and kind of get his groove back. So I mean he’s got to get it back with defensively though. That’s a problem right now. I think a lot of fans are concerned with his defensive efforts and the way that he’s dropping the ball. Uh he’s not getting a handle onto the ball with his glove and it it’s concerning. I mean, it it definitely is because uh there’s some thoughts in our heads like, okay, do we have to move him? Do we have to move him to like left field or something? So, I think that’s a um that’s totally a possibility and it’s a thought in our heads that we keep on thinking like, okay, like there’s got to be some kind of change. It definitely does. Yeah, something’s got to change with the Phillies. Something. Yeah, we’ll see. We’ll see what it is. But moving on now to our next topic. I never thought we would actually get back to the day where we’re going to be talking in a positive way about the Sixers, but we are here with a 24 and 58 record. We are here. KJ Boy, why don’t you tell the people what we found out this week? I’m going to tell you this and you’re probably like, “Oh my gosh, you’re wearing a Sixers jersey and the Sixers aren’t even in the playoffs. They’re not even in a playoff game right now.” Yes, I I’m aware. I’m very aware of that, but we are on the cusp of actually bringing these back. Now, I know it’s not on the graphic, but the two jerseys that are rumored to be back, and it looks like they are 100% back, uh, 100% back. It seems like maybe 99%. They will bring back these 2000 jerseys that they rocked. I think I call them the Iverson era jerseys. I mean, that’s really who exemplified this jersey. He really made it on the map. If you look back in the 2000s where a player really and people have said this too that Allen Iverson was the most influ um influ I guess like influ influence I guess you could say uh influencer uh I can’t even think of the word. Jesus I can’t speak. But um he really put it on the map. He put that jersey on the map and you saw everybody like in the world. You even saw people in China like rocking these jerseys. Like you saw people in Australia rocking these jerseys. Like it was everywhere. He put it on the map and it’s one of honestly it’s one of my favorite Philadelphia jerseys. I’m more excited about this. This is kind of crazy take right now. I’m more excited for this release than the Kelly Green jersey. I’m dead serious. I’m dead serious. And that’s just me personally because I just I love the color like on a jersey like the color black in general. And when the Sixers had that and they got rid of it, I was so upset. I was just like, “Oh my gosh, they’re trying to break my heart right now.” So, I think it’s gonna be Yeah, it definitely is a top three jersey of all time. I really do think it’s a top three Philly jersey of all time. I think it is a top 10 NBA jersey of all time. I definitely do. I mean, it’s up there with the Toronto Raptors jerseys. It’s up there with the Orlando Magic jerseys. It’s up there. It definitely is. I mean, it’s just a influential jersey. That’s what I was thinking. That’s the word, people. All right. that’s the word influential. But yeah, I think bringing this back is a huge move. And then also they are going to bring now the funny thing is with this this alternate jersey, this city jersey, they were supposed to bring this back. I don’t know if you know this doll in 2020 and then COVID hit. So they never actually brought back this jersey. And what it is is I believe the 2017 maybe no 2018 uh it was those gold jerseys and they were gold and they had on the shorts they had the um they actually or they were cream actually. They they weren’t gold they were cream but they had on the side the crack of the bell and that’s what these jerseys will be but they’re going to be blue. So yeah, as you can kind of see right there, that’s what they look like. They say Philadelphia. Now, we don’t know if it really will be those ones, but there was like a leak recently. And then I remember seeing that leak photo as well, but that jersey was never worn. We never actually debuted that jersey. So, we could bring that back obviously. So, bringing back two jerseys, uh, I’m fine with bringing back that city jersey, that’s fine. That city jersey is pretty cool. But if this means that we get to Yeah, there it is. That’s another That was another version that actually So, I wanted to show this to you. I saw somebody put that photo on Reddit. This is two or three years ago when Tobias was still here. Yeah. And this idea, I wonder if the Sixers took from Reddit because this was posted on somebody on Reddit like I think it was a year or two ago. So, this is when Tobias was still on the team, mind you. Right. Yeah. You could see because the StubHub logo’s on there. You could see that because the StubHub is not our it’s not our sponsor anymore. So that’s old accent is in the shorts. They took every little piece from this. Yeah. Yeah. So hopefully it’s true because I mean that would be super cool. We never got to see this. I mean this was because co that’s what happened. You had a you had a big break of sports and they didn’t use this jersey in the bubble. They didn’t bring this jersey in the bubble. I know the Memphis Grizzlies and the Raptors brought back the the craziest uh I guess you could say um jersey game where they actually the Grizzlies wore the Vancouver teal jerseys which are some of the coolest jerseys ever and then the Raptors brought back their original purple jerseys with the dinosaur and that was a really cool jersey matchup game. That was one of the coolest jersey matchup games. Honestly though, it was sad because it was during COVID and you had all the the fans, the virtual fans and everything like that. So, the atmosphere wasn’t that it wasn’t that cool though with those jerseys. But on TV, it was pretty cool. So, yeah, hopefully they bring back those jerseys. I think for sure though they’re bringing back these because it’s it’s it’s a no-brainer. You got to bring these back. But the crazy thing is I pointed out to you and I know I’m going a little crazy on this a little bit, but I’m just really excited for it. You’re okay. Yeah. So, I kind of mentioned this to you, Dol. We actually never wore these black jerseys at home. We never wore them at home. We wore the white jerseys at home. So, that’s the crazy thing. So, we would have the throwback court that we would have this year, which is I think would be such a vibe to go in the Wells Fargo Center. Go in there, especially if you got to experience this when you were a kid and you got to see maybe Allan Iverson, you got to see Andre Gadalo like rocking these kind of jerseys and you see the court and I think that court is just sick. I think it’s a really cool court and I think that bring it back is is just gonna be so nostalgia like nostalgic for a lot of people growing up for this team and maybe bring back the joy in some people watching Sixers games again. Maybe it’ll bring back the joy in some of the players as well. I know like Paul George was rocking an Allen Iverson uh throwback jersey a couple times uh this year. So, I think there’s a lot of players that hint of even AJ Brown has been rocking. He rocked the same kind of jersey, the NBA Finals version of Allen Iverson. Um, so that was really cool. So, I think a lot of people, a lot of basketball fans like would love to see this jersey come back and I think it’s going to happen. They already announced last year, they said 2025 should be the year that they will bring this back because we thought last year they were going to bring it back because we saw that Tyrese Maxi had the Slam cover that he had uh where he was on the cover of Slam magazine and he had the they put him in the throwback jersey and we were like, “Oh my god, it’s coming back. It’s coming back.” And the team said, “Slow down. Slow down. Slow your roll. Uh it’s coming back next year. We we don’t have it manufactured yet, but it’s coming back next year. So that’s this is the year really that you go for it. If they don’t actually release it, it’s a really big fumble by the team. I think the organization owes it to the city, especially the season that we had, how depressing of a season we had. We saw how pissed off our buddy Philly sports guy was. Like the the least you can do is bring this back and kind of maybe make a kumbaya with the fans. It wouldn’t be a full Kumbaya, but I’ll say it kind of makes a little closer where you feel like the organization does care about the fans. And I think that’s the one thing with the Eagles that they really pinpointed because they finally listened to the fans and they were like, “Okay, you guys want the Kelly Green jerseys back? All right, we’re bringing those back. We finally are bringing those back and they did that.” And look, every game that we go to, I swear every Eagles game, even when we’re not rocking Kelly Green, I see people rocking the Kelly Green jerseys. Like, no matter what, no matter if it annoys you or not. It kind of annoys me, but I kind of see what it’s a great marketing thing. It’s perfect. So, I think with getting these back, it’s gold. So, can’t wait for it. Take my money. That’s the only thing you’ll get from me, Sixers fans, right now. I mean, six Sixers the organization, but that’s the only thing you’ll probably get from Sixers fans. So, if you want to get some jerseys, I mean, you probably you got to go for these ones. You got to I get it. I mean, I like your point, too. Top three Philly jerseys of all time. Number one for me right here. Kelly Green all time. Just a classic staple when that was away for a long time with the Eagles for about I guess it was 10 years, maybe a decade. That was a depressing time. Like yes, the all black Eagles uniforms and the midnight green are cool, but there’s just something about the old school retro Kelly green eagles uniforms. I mean, even Princess Diana knew like good fashion. So, there’s something about just those threads that that do it for all Philly fans. My number three, believe it or not, is actually the powder blue Phillies uniforms. Once again, staple Philadelphia classic Philly uniform. Just a beauty. And I think a lot of people would have thought, wow, okay, the powder blue would probably be Dalton’s two because he loves to watch the Phillies. Nope. Two for me is this. What they’re bringing back, the 2000 Sixers, as we’ve been calling it. But yeah, it’s it’s just an alltime Philly uniform. It felt like Allan Iverson was born was born to dawn. This Sixers uniform was born to be the guy that was recognized in this uniform. like this was Allan Iverson’s staple and it’s so authentic and passionate and logos aren’t made like that anymore. We talk about this all the time, but they aren’t made with the same kind of compassion and the same kind of just level of care that people have. And that’s kind of what I thought was interesting about this and this KJ is when you combine these two together, you have the navy blue old school and then you have this one for the Sixers and what do you get? Shout out to our guys from Red Vantage, Casey as well, who actually credit this uniform. But you get this old blue throwback, which I think would be really fun for this team to bring back. Look, they’re 24 and 58 right now. They have nothing else going for them. So, you need money in that building because I didn’t go to a single Sixers game this year and that was the first time in a long time. You need money. I’m just going to own it. And I think a great way to get a money grab is right here. And right here, this is okay. But I really want this right away. And I think that the blue one too is is a pretty sick combination as well. Yeah, I think once you bring back the black uniform like what the Vancouver Vancouver um I mean they they are Memphis but they do they did bring back the Vancouver Grizzly jerseys when they brought back in 2020 those blue ones those teal ones where John Mar really kind of showcased them and made them kind of back on the map. Then they brought back this year they brought back the white version of those. So I think that’s that’s the cool thing. So, I think once you get the black uniforms back like this, then you’ll start to see, okay, they’re going to bring back the next year. All right, we’re releasing the blue one. So, that’s what they’ll probably do. I think so, because they’ll see how much of a hit it is. They definitely will. They definitely will. I mean, I have a version of the blue one. I have the blue one, too. So, of Iverson. I have that one. I still got to get the white one. I want to get all three. So, that’s the cool thing. I mean, that’s how much of a nut I am about like the the Allen Iverson era jerseys. I mean, that’s what I really called them. I mean, that’s what they are. I mean, that’s the guy who really put them on the map. I mean, like, that’s the jersey you see usually when you have this jersey. It’s number three. Agreed. And I really like what they’re doing with it, too, is they’re putting the old school Nike logo up on the top rather than the one that you see in this photo. They’re actually putting the old school Nike Air logo right there, which I think is so cool. Like that Tyrese Maxi jersey, the second it releases, I’m going to grab it. I love yours too with the NBA finals, but obviously the Sixers aren’t in the finals this year and they probably won’t be in the finals. So here I just sent a picture of it too. I can I can even show it to you too. So Joey, this one. So if you look at this a little bit um you see this StubHub logo, you see the Nike logo. I know it looks reversed. I don’t know if I can reverse it or not, but um now that was clear. You might want to zoom in a little bit. Yeah, you could see though with the like look how clean this looks. Look how cool. Oh my god, this is sick. This is really cool. And I thought the Crypto.com logo would look really like weird on it, but it actually looks pretty cool. And the Nike logo you said before, too. Just like that retro Nike logo where it says Nike. You got the big um you got the big check mark right there. And then you got on the shorts as well. I mean, that’s just clean as heck. That really is clean. So, we will really see if they really debut them. I think they are because they even said to the fans they’re going to. So, I think it’s I think honestly in a couple months I think we are on like the cusp of it actually happening where they release it and I will go freaking nuts and you could take my credit card right away because I’ll be buying one. Yep. I’m in the same boat, brother. Take it right away. I’m in the same boat. But moving along now to our next topic. This is a fun rumor that shout out to Joey who came perfect time. And Joe, there you are Joe. topic you wanted to hear is LeBron James going to go to Cleveland? So, he played with the Cavaliers from 2003 to 2010 and then he came back for another stint which he won the championship from 2014 to 2018. I will say this, I will probably say no. The reason is I I would love it. I would think there would be nothing cooler and I thought he would have wrapped up his career in this way. But LeBron is a father. He has made that clear. Wherever Bronny Jr. goes, Bronny will go. Let me make that clear. Not wherever Braraw goes, Bronny Jr. will go. No, wherever Bronny Jr. goes, LeBron will go. And I feel like they’re happy in LA. They’re content. They understand that he’s a project. It’s going to take some time for him to grow and learn and mature as a player, but once he gets there, he’ll be good. So, in my opinion, I feel like with LeBron going to Cleveland, would it be a really cool way to go out? Hell yeah. Go back there one more time, take him on a deep playoff run, maybe win a championship if you can. But the only way that I would foresee that happening is if Bronny goes with him. And I just think that that’s probably not going to happen. Um, that would be really tough ask. What do you think, KJ? Yeah, I think it’s it’s really intriguing, but I mean LeBron’s 40 years old. He’s 40 years old and obviously this Cleveland Cavaliers team that they have now with Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, you have Darius Garland. I mean, there’s a they have a lot of great young players and they’re a very good young team. I mean, they led the East in the standings. They were one of the top teams and right now I think they moved on to the next round. I’m trying to think who they’re taking on next round. I’ll check in a second. But I think with with the Cavs, I mean, of anything, you have a team now that LeBron could come back to and be like, “Okay, I can really fit in with this team, though.” But they also have this really young team that they’re really trying to build. So, it could be kind of a distraction to the team. It really could be. But, I mean, like, we’ll see what happens. I mean, I don’t think he’s a free agent coming out this season. I don’t know if he is. I have no idea. I haven’t really looked at his contract recently, but yeah, I mean that does bring up too like he is a father first. I mean, you’ve seen it first at hand. A guy that he had a relationship with, like a friendship with and Stephen A. Smith, now they don’t have a friendship at all. They’re butting heads right now. It’s it’s a crazy I it’s a crazy situation with him and Stephen A because Stephen A was just doing his job talking about that Bronnie has not really been contributing to the Lakers in general and that it’s been really he got there because of his dad. I mean it’s obvious he got there because of LeBron James, his father. So that’s how he got drafted. I mean, they did a lot of calls. Rich Paul, their um their manager, I mean, both their managers and he’s manager for a bunch of other players as well. He or their agent, yeah, their agent, not the manager, but he really like made it clear like he’s got to get drafted by the Lakers. Like, it’s got to happen. And there’s a guy in the Sixers right now named Justin Edwards who definitely should have been drafted in front of him, but he wasn’t. and really because of the whole favoritism kind of thing with LeBron and having his kid Bronnie. But I mean, it’s just it’s insane. It really is. I mean, to see him and Stephen A like going at it and like you saw the video of LeBron getting in Stephen A’s face like that and he was dead serious. He’s like, “Don’t talk with my son. You can you can you can critique my game, but you don’t critique my son’s game.” which is kind of unfair because I mean your son’s really going out there playing basketball and you have critics like that’s what you do when you play these pro sports. You’re going to have people that critique them. I mean we’re some of those people too. We don’t have the knowledge to the point that these ESPN people, these ESPN personalities do have, but we still have an input that we still have viewership. We still have people who are intrigued with what we say, which is which is a really cool thing as well. But that’s the thing that LeBron is also not really realizing too. He’s being a father first, which is awesome. That’s great to see a father and son kind of do and shows that he really does care about his son. And that’s really cool. And I mean that’s that’s a really cool factor to to really put in. But you can’t be so defensive about people critiquing your son when he’s really not doing too much on the court. So, and he’s really just really out there because of his dad and that’s how it is. It’s kind of like that too with the whole Dion Sanders and Shador thing if you think about it too. Um it’s a little different but if you think about it though he really got drafted as well. Um, not because of his dad, but it was really because like all the attention too was there with Shadore because of who his dad is, but also Shador is a great player and he can also maybe bring in um he can bring in in something for Cleveland as well. It’s kind of funny we we go with Cleveland. I mean, we’re talking about LeBron going back to Cleveland and now they have another kind of fatherson kind of thing, but not the father, just the son of a legendary player in Deion Sanders son in Shadore. So, that’s that’s a crazy thing. But, yeah, I don’t really see LeBron going back to Cleveland. I can see him doing the thing of like where like Eagles players like they will do the thing where they actually not even play for the team, but they retire with the team for a day or whatever like that. So obviously LeBron’s getting his jersey retired in Cleveland. He’s going to get him retired in Miami. He’s going to get retired in Los Angeles in all three. He’ll he’ll get it retired there. So I think wherever his son goes, he’ll stay put. So he’s 40 years old. So I mean it’s really like a Tom Brady kind of thing. Like whenever LeBron is ready, like he’s still playing at a high level. He’s still LeBron James. He’s playing he’s breaking scoring records still. Um, they did just get eliminated by the T-Wolves in a very great young team with Anthony Edwards, who’s my favorite player right now that’s not a Sixer. Um, I think that kid is awesome. I think he is honestly he is the newer version of Dwayne Wade or maybe like a version of Vince Carter as well. I mean, he’s just and he’s just he’s a great person as well. So, with LeBron going back to Cleveland, Cleveland, this for you. Um, not yet. I think he’ll come back and retire his jersey, but I think that’s the only thing you’ll really see him returning with Cleveland for. That’s fair. I think with LeBron, too, like you said, it’s going to be wherever Bronny goes. And also too, you you hit it earlier and Stephen A. Smith was just doing his job like LeBron. I think it’s awesome, like KJ said, that you want to be a father. But as a father, you also need to prepare your son for the real world. And if your son’s going to be a player in the NBA when you leave, who’s going to be there to protect him? Himself. He’s got to learn how to deal with all that stuff, all that criticism, all that hate on his own. Because like KJ alluded to earlier, you’re a professional. You’re an NBA player. You’re doing this at a high level. You’re getting paid millions of dollars. You got to be able to keep your composure. You got to be able to keep your head on straight. And overall, I do think that Bronny can um I think Bronny’s very moldable, even though I think he definitely got to where he got because of his dad. But at the same time, I think LeBron just like he’s not going to leave his son too at this point. That just wouldn’t make any sense. So unless the Cavaliers are ready to offer a package for the James family. Yeah, which I think would include saying, “Hey, we’re gonna look to take Bryce in a couple of years, too. Maybe, maybe they’re willing to say that they want to trade for LeBron and Bronny and just have him come here and build the James Foundation and go for a championship.” Maybe, but probably unlikely. Still fun to talk about though. Very fun to talk about. Something else we’re going to talk about too before we wrap up here, a little bit of a shorter show. Just not much going on in Philly sports. Obviously, we got the Phillies playing and that’s about it. The Sixer season’s over. Obviously, no Eagles or Flyers as well. So, with the White House visit for Super Bowl 509, I mean, it was really cool. I I had the pleasure of being able to be there thanks to Joe Donahghue from Bird’s Nest Media. He he passed on the invitation. He’s like, “Hey, if you would like to go out there, it would be really cool. Um, I’d love to have you.” And I’m like, “Dude, I’d be honored to go. Like, let’s go.” And he’s like, “Cool.” Like, “Let’s go.” So, we went out together. Um, and it was awesome. First off, Joe’s a great guy. If you guys haven’t, please, please give Birds Nest Media follow. They’re great people. He’s got a great team that he’s building over there, himself leading the charge, and his content’s awesome. So, we were able to go into the press room and see where like Fox News, CNN, all of them film. We also went on Pebble Beach is what it’s called. We saw all that where they filmed like basically Fox News in the morning and they had the White House in the background and all that stuff. So, we were there and then we got to go back on the South Lawn for the ceremony. Now, very high security, I will say. Like, it was tight and right, dude. Like, you’re not you’re not getting in or out of that place without anybody. And the funny thing is um as we were coming in like there was this one dude over the fence who was just yapping like he was like a homeless guy or something. You know how sometimes like homeless people protest I guess you could say he was protesting and he was just saying everything and anything. So we had to listen to him for a little bit. But once we got in there I mean even then it was cool. But once we got in there it was awesome. Like everything I ever dreamed of. I actually fell asleep on the lawn, uh, the front lawn, which was kind of an accident. I got sunburn on my nose, which is why my nose looks a little bit red here. And then we went out, like I said, to the south lawn. And that’s kind of where the whole ceremony took place. You had Trump speak. He was like, “Yeah, I want to give some love to Big Dom, Domandro. I hear he’s a a Trump guy. Love that about him. Why don’t you come up here and say some words, Big Dom?” And like Big Dom comes up there and like you know Big Dom’s like he’s a man of few words. And I’m like oh my god like because you already know if you know the Eagles you’re like that’s not the guy to ask to speak to but also when Trump asked you to speak like you’re not going to say no. So he’s like all right uh hey I’m not one of many words. Let’s go birds and it’s an honor to be here. Or he said something like that and the whole place just erupts and goes crazy and it just felt like such a such a cool day. I will say Trump was very gracious. He was very polite. Um and and honoring the Eagles like he had a lot of kind words. The band that they had was awesome. They were very in tune with what we wanted to hear as Philadelphiaians. I mean I remember hearing Philadelphia Freedom, the Rocky theme song, and a couple other Philadelphia classics. And then there were a bunch of celebrities going around too like Vince Papali was there. Um he popped by so that was cool to see him. We only got to wave to him for a second because he was doing a couple interviews. Uh, and then I also got to say hi to Max Dente from Part of My Take with Bar Stool. That was the highlight of my day because I look up to Barto Stool a lot. I’ve been listening to them obviously since I was like 15 or 16, like a lot of young men. And I saw this dude with a man bun that looked remotely like Jason Kelsey. And I’m like, “Oh, yep. That’s Max.” So, I’m waiting for the right time and the ceremony ends and I I’m like, “All right, like, can I get this guy’s attention?” I’m like, “Yo, yo, Max, Max.” And he ends up coming over and we we catch up for a second and met. He was super gracious, super polite, super proud to be there. And all in all, today was just it was a real success. So, I want to give a huge thank you once again to Bird’s Nest Media for setting up the whole thing, bringing me along because hopefully we get to do it again next year. It was a real honor. It was a real privilege. and something I’ll never forget. Um, very, like I said, very secure, very tight and right. Didn’t get to meet any players. Didn’t get to meet like Trump or anything like that. For the people that are going to ask in the comments, it was just other press members. But I did get to meet some really cool people from uh 94 WIP, PHLY Media, uh, the news like 6ABC, CBS, all of them. I mean, everyone from Philadelphia media was there. So, it was really cool that Birds Nest Media and 302 Birds were there being able to represent. A very proud moment for me and I feel like for the team and our country. So, all in all, a great day. Yeah, it was a really great day. I mean, I was locked into my phone all day seeing a text from Doll, getting images from D and videos and it was really cool to see him just represent 302 birds. And I mean, as we said before, like shout out to Joe Donahghue. Uh, he’s a great guy. I I always tell D all the time and I I hope Joe sees this as well. He has an amazing like mind of knowledge with the Eagles and he just has great facts and just the way that he just really like showcases his facts and like the way that he just like kind of like presents himself is amazing. And I think the White House really probably saw you guys and they were like, “Oh, wow. These guys are I don’t know who they are, but you know what? They are really presentable and they came in and they they look snazzy and they’re looking they’re looking great. So that’s a good thing. And they’re and they’re not causing any chaos or anything like that. So they’re not causing any havoc or anything like that. Um and I think people I mean Daltton knows this. It was a very chaotic day. Um, if you weren’t there for Eagles Nation, it was very chaotic. I mean, it just seemed like a fullout war uh with Eagles fans in general. And it was really sad to see because it really was, and Joe Donahghue really put this really well. It was a day to celebrate the team. It wasn’t about the political parties. I’m not political. I’ve said this many times. And it’s funny that day on Monday, um, I was apparently showcased as a political guy. And I mean, I’m not gonna say who like showed me as that, but uh, I’m not at all. I really am not. But I was really excited to go see Dalt and Joe go there and really celebrate. It’s really the last part of celebration for when your team wins a Super Bowl. It’s like the last part. And we never really got to do that because in 2017 they didn’t go to the White House the first time. But this time there was a lot of rumors saying that they weren’t going to go that it was official they weren’t going but they actually declined that and they said no we’re going. Jeffrey Lorie said no we are going to the White House because it is a great tradition uh to go there no matter who is in the office no matter who it is. And that was the main thing I feel like really the last part really the last celebration factor of this one of the last ones because we still got to get our rings. So once the rings really happen that’s the that’s one of the that’s probably the last part and then we can really move on to the next season. I mean we kind of already have I feel like I kind of have I feel like I’ve kind of turned the page a little bit already because we have rookies. We have like Jihad Campbell already. Uh, we got Kyle McCord who will be our backup quarterback for all the people that are saying like, “Oh, he’s gonna be the starter.” No, he will not be a starter. Jaylen Herz is the man. He’s still starting for the team. And I know there was a lot of the the whole thing with the controversy, too. People were actually like, “I’m done with people were saying, I’m done with Saquon Barkley. I’m done representing this team because he was there.” And then there were some people saying like, “Oh, I’m done with Jaylen Herz because he wasn’t there. I’m not mad at Squan for going. I’m not mad at Jaylen for not going. I’m not mad at AJ for not going. They’re football players. They represent this team and they represented this team really well and they represented Philadelphia showing how much they love us as fans and showing how much they want to win by winning a Super Bowl. So judging them through their political views just makes no sense at all. And I think I don’t think that was any bit political views. I don’t think with Safe One playing golf, I don’t think it was a political view. He he played he played golf with Barack Obama as well. He played golf with a bunch of former presidents. I mean, that’s just what he does. So, I don’t think it was him really like really trying to be like showcasing that he’s a supporter of who or whatever, but I think people took it the wrong way where we should be celebrating this team as a city, as an organization. And we had more people I felt like who weren’t really showing that during the day and that were fighting with each other and being like, “Oh my gosh, I’m taking this side. I’m taking that side.” And it was aggravating. I’ll tell you, it was it was like a whole war. And it shouldn’t be like that, though. We should all be coming together and celebrating this crazy this great accomplishment that we took down the Kansas City Chiefs. We took down our former coach and Andy Reid. Like, that’s the main thing we could take away from this. And it was really aggravating. I didn’t want to really bother Dalt with the aggravating part of it because I was so proud of him. And I told him this. I was so proud of how he went to the White House. He really showcased himself and showed that you know what, we might be a smaller podcast, but we can become something bigger and that’s a good thing. And I’m just super proud of of Joe Donahghue and really thankful Joe Donahue, super proud adult. And it was just an amazing moment for sure. No matter the political views you have, it’s still a tradition and it’s one of the last things that we get to celebrate as Eagles fans. So no matter what your political views are on it, like put it away because that day on Monday represented a tradition where you go to the White House no matter who it is. So I’m sorry if I went a little too far with that, but I had to just let it loose. I had to. So there was just so much going on. Oh, sorry. Sorry, I was muted. I was going to say you’re right. Like speak because I did kind of feel like with what you’re saying it it kind of seemed like it was a hostile day for a lot of Eagles fans and it’s like come on like 20 years ago when I was growing up we were raised when politics were more of a private thing. It was something like it’s it’s okay to agree to disagree. Like if you didn’t go, that’s okay. Just because somebody else did doesn’t mean they can’t be your friend. Doesn’t mean you can’t support them. And yet the things that people were saying about Saquon Barkley, the things that people were doing to Saquon Barkley, saw people throwing magnets out. Like I would have went four years ago. I would have went a couple years ago if they won in 2022 when Trump wasn’t in office. Like I would have tried to go either way is my point. And this is just so happens to be the first time that all the stars were aligned and they could actually go. And like Kathleen said, every team has the right to accept. And I think what the Eagles did was really cool, too. They actually even said, you know what, we’re going to give every player the right to accept or decline. We’re going to go and if you want to join us, you can. If not, it’s okay. And I thought that that was an appropriate way to do it. I will say the players that showed up showed out. I mean, you had Eli Ricks who was flirting with Ivanka Trump. Then you look over in the one room. You got Jordan Mada who’s basically singing with the orchestra. You got the one dude, I think it was Eli Ricks, who’s doing the fight with the Trump uh painting that’s like posing with it. So, you just the whole team like really embodied and and having fun at the White House. And I think that that’s what it’s all about. No matter who the president is, just show up, be courageous, be happy to be there. And it’s an honor. It really is because Joe and I both said, I mean, one of the most American things you can do is win the Super Bowl. I said, look up in the dictionary the word America. You’ll see a Big Mac on one side and the Super Bowl trophy on the other. And it’s a very American American thing to do. So to anybody that I think had a problem with it or got upset with it, come on, grow up. You just got to be better than that because they’re a great team with a great future. And I hate to break it to you, we’re going to probably be in the same position next year where they end up back at the White House. And it shouldn’t be that day where the players feel like, oh, you know what? Like, think about the guys that are on the fence that maybe just want to go to be with the team and they’re like, “I’m not going to go because I don’t want that drama.” They shouldn’t have that. Same thing with the parade. You got to be better than that some Eagles fans. Howie Roseman getting a freaking full beer can chucked at his head. You got to be better than that. So, I think that this whole year 2025 served as a big learning experience for a lot of Philly fans. But let’s just hope that 2026 we act a little bit better because I think success is going to start to be more of a regular thing around here. So, we’re gonna have to learn how to handle that better. Plus, 2026 there’s a lot of events coming to Philadelphia as well. I think the World Cup’s coming. Um, you got MLB Allar game, too. What’ you say? MLB All-Star game as well. Yeah, that’s coming to Philadelphia. There’s a lot of stuff that’s coming to Philadelphia in 2026. So, I would expect um you just got to be able to compose yourself better. Philadelphiaians and I think we’re getting towards that, but we’ll see when the day comes. Overall, it was an honor to be there. I don’t want to say too much more because I don’t want to get too political with it. But, um, do you have anything else you want to say before we wrap up the show, Mac? I’ll just say if you thought what I said was political, then you do not know what I was speaking at all. I mean, you just didn’t hear what I was saying at all. So, yeah, none of that was political. Yeah, none of that was political. I’m not a political guy, but I just had to let it out. So, because it was it was that’s what it seemed like that day uh should have been celebrated. I wanted to celebrate Dalt being there and Joe being there, but there was also some times where I couldn’t because I was pretty much fighting for me not being political. So, that was that was annoying and that was aggravating for sure. But, I don’t have any beef with anybody really like that. I mean, like they can have their own opinions and whatever, but I think you know what, we all got to come together as Eagles fans and and if you really are like you come out of that uh that day and you’re like, I’m not an Eagles fan anymore and you’re like, you know what, all that celebration, all that amazing um feelings that I had for the parade, that’s all gone because of this, then you’re in the wrongs because that’s not what this that’s not what the White House visit was about. And that was, as you said before, that was good that Jeffrey Lori made it optional for the players. And I don’t think anybody should be mad um should be mad about what’s going on with it. So, um yeah. Yeah, I agree. I think it’s it’s one of those things where like Kathleen said here too, people throwing away his jersey. Please let me KJ know. I know this guy’s got a jersey resell business. He’ll take any thrown away. I’ll take it if you want to. If you really want to be like that, I will definitely take your jersey. I I I will I will definitely buy it from you or anything like that. But uh I will definitely sell it. So, or I will I probably keep it myself. So, but I mean it’s it’s just not that deep. And if you think it is that deep and you think I’m in the wrong, sure, go for it. But I’m not going to talk about it anymore really about it because I already went through that on Monday. I’m not going through that again. Yeah. And I think like like we all said too, when you play golf with both presidents, there’s not really much else that you need to say. It’s golf. That answer kind of speaks for itself. You played with both of them, too. So, if anybody has any problems, well, guess what? You can let us know in the comments because it’s going to help the video surge. But other than that, that’s all we got for you guys this week.
