franchise history and it’s the largest blown lead in Celtics playoff history. 20 points. That’s what Boston was up. 20 points. The Nick came back to win in overtime. Welcome to playoff central presented by AT&T. Chris Miles here with Steve Smith and John Wall and Smitty. The Celtics relied on a three-point shot. The Nicks they fought back. What stood out most to you about the Nick comeback in the third quarter? Well, I think for me is the Boston Celtic shooting five for 19. I mean, just a three-point shot. There’s a time where you have to drive the basketball. Give the Nicks a lot of credit. They did not quit. They came out. I love the way Josh Hard and Brunson and all those guys compete. But if you’re the Boston Sal, you got to be kicking yourself. There’s no way you’re going to shoot 63s when you getting everything you want, switches, and you had the momentum to just drive the basketball. You live by it and boy they die they die by it tonight. You know Johnny says that the most miss threes in NBA playoff history. The most threes attempted in NBA playoff history. 60 of them. The previous record was 58. The previous franchise record was 55. And it felt like they were taking threes on every single possession even when they had looks underneath the basket. Yeah, we know we know that’s their identity to shoot a lot of three. That’s where they built their team around. But like like Smitty said, at some point you got to get to the basket, get to the freethrow line. In the third quarter, they was up 20 and for a stretch for like four or f minutes. It’s like every possession was three after three after three and they wasn’t making them. And even when the game got closed, New York Chting, you got to get him a lot of credit. They didn’t stop competing. They started to make shots. OG stepped it up on the defensive end and those guys started to see shots go in. And you know, clutch player the year, Jayen Brunson got it going in the fourth quarter, got opportunity to take the lead. had opportunity to almost win the game. They go to overtime. He really didn’t score, but he dictated the team and they just kept living by the three. And there was something early in the game that paid off from the Celtics that they seem to go away from Smitty. And you notice this, they kept forcing the Nick Bigs to switch. Carl Anthony Towns got his third foul uh early in the second quarter with nine minutes to go. The Celtics, they built that 16 point lead after Towns got that third foul and then they didn’t really play aggressively like that. Can you show us how the switching on the Bigs really paid off for the Celtics earlier? Well, John Wall and everybody saw in the whole nation. I mean, United States, you get a switcher, Carl Anthony Towns where you have a Jayen Brunson who’s a smaller guy. You got to take advantage some kind of way. As we roll through this, you can see Brunson showing like a four man. Now, this is a opportunity to drive it. They knocking down threes, but when they’re not going, you still got to play basketball the right way. I know the anal say shoot threes when you’re open and and keep taking them, but at one point I’m going drive at least get somebody some easy threes. They got Carl Anthony Towns in F trouble. Went to Mitchell Robinson and then they started doing a hacking Mitchell Robinson. He had to come out of the game. As you can see right here, neither Bronson or Towns really wanted to switch on that play. I mean, if you’re the Boston subject, you go back look at this tape. Here’s another one. This is a a long three that was going in the first half, but then all those shots was missed in the third quarter in the fourth quarter. Yeah. Then the Nicks took advantage. Uh Jayen Brunson, clutch player of the year. We saw him in the Piston series how he was able to score about 12 points per game in the fourth quarter. And this one 11 points in the fourth. John, why was he so effective in the most critical part of the game once again a very stout defensive team that was picking him up full quarter all day? Well, he’s very crafty, got great footwork, uses pump very well, but you know, he got the switches. You know what I mean? We talked about it earlier. Al Horford a great defender. He’s going to go out there and challenge his shots. But right here, Drew gave up on the play game of wide open three and he seen a couple of those go in and I mean he he lives for this moment. Those guys play defense for him. He saves his injur on the other end and he’s close. He the guy they go to and make those big shots. So he’s been that moment lives in that moment. That’s why he’s a clutch player of the year. But you like those threes they took early on they was going in and was like he heat check shots. Third fourth quarter they came out started second half you be doing the same thing. You got to go back to what got you there. Attack the basket, move the ball, not all off the dribble threes. You know, Smitth, we often have the conversation, rest or rhythm for the Celtics. They had a week off before this series started. For the Nick, knockdown, drag out series against the Detroit Pistons. In fact, this marked the fifth consecutive game within three points. Do you feel as if maybe the Nick even down by 20 they were just a little bit sharper because they had just been in those battles with the Well, the game of basketball and the basketball gods are not going to let you win a game if you don’t play the right way. The Boston Celtics do not play the right way in the second half. I know they shoot a lot of threes, but if you get a mismatch or a switch, you must take advantage of it. And if not, you’re going to lose some games like this. They will be kicking themselves. John, if this was a game s it would be unreal. And I just think they got to look in the drawing board. where you got to get two feet to paint at some point when you have a mismatch to be able to take advantage of it. Yeah. Jayen Brunson averaged 33 points in that first round series against Detroit. 29 points in this first game of round two. Here he is with Ali La Force. Pivotal third quarter 12 points in that comeback when they outsor the Celtics 20 to6 to in the third quar to finish with 29 points. That’s more than Jayen Brown and Jason Tam. Huge game for the champion OG. Yeah, he was being aggressive, man. He did on both ends of the FL did a great job guarding Jason Tom, but he was able to make 63 a day out of 11, but he was doing it on defensive cutting to the basket, making a little things. And he has to be great on both of the floor for him to even have a chance in this series and today he did it. You know, Smitth, I mentioned the fact that he won a championship as a younger player in Toronto. That experience when you have a roster of guys trying to figure it out. The Nicks have veterans, but to have a guy who who went all the way with his group seems like it’s very valuable. give him a lot of credit. Uh he’s worked on his offensive game. Defensively, he’s been there since college, but right now he’s been able to make plays off the dribble a little bit, spot up, shoot threes, but I think also his confidence has gone to another level. He is taking shots and driving it where before he would pass the basketball, get off of it, and just play the game. But now he’s taking risk and I like how he’s playing. He has to be aggressive from them on the offensive end, especially when you see a game from Carl Anthony Towns where he’s not aggressive and he’s not scoring. Nickhead coach Tom Tiibet at the podium right now. Yeah, I know. I thought it was great team went. Uh we started well then we fell into a hole then we fought our way out uh and then we made tough plays down the stretch. Uh I think that’s huge for us. Switch everything really things up for them. How you like guys execution defensiv guys taking the challenge regarding one? Yeah, you know, and they still, you know, they got a number of threes up and some of them, you know, we have to do a better job the rebounding. We have to make sure that we we fix that. So, some good, some have to be a lot better, you know. So, and the important thing for us is to understand what it is. It’s it’s one win and then understand that we have to reset and get ready for game two. Yeah, you know, and it’s it’s been this team has fought all year, you know, it’s been a pretty good road team. Uh we’ve had to endure some things with guys being out and I think over time that helps you, you know, you build up, you know, your mental toughness and understanding how important that is. Uh, and it’s, like I said, it’s one game. There’s a lot of, you know, emotional highs and lows in in a playoff, but no matter what happens, you have to keep moving forward. Yeah. No, just you know a great look you know shot it great didn’t go in. That’s part of the game. Next play next play. O was terrific the whole game. Just you know multiple effort plays that sort of thing. And then the thing I don’t want to overlook is you know Josh was terrific also but uh you know had fou trouble but the rebounding uh and making tough plays at the end that was huge for us. Uh and so I think when you think about that you if you look at you know his stats shooting wise he helped us win and that’s the most important thing and the same can be said from Michel Michel came up with some big time rebounds in traffic and then the steel at the end uh and so whatever we have to do to find a way to win that that’s the most important thing so don’t get wrapped up in any personal dilemmas or anything like that put the team first and just find a way to win surprised at um as you guys are announcing that comeback and you just mention that fou trouble they obviously tried to it’s a fou that you take him out of the game that they continue to launch as many as they did when you guys down yeah you know and and that’s you know what they do and and again I want to look at the quality of of those shots and uh oftentimes I thought uh there were scramble situations on ones in which you know I thought uh holiday Xin chào các bạn nha. 1. Celtics aren’t gritty!! Knicks battle hard every play and overcome ridiculous adversity. Developing a real killer instinct- something that Boston allegedly doesn’t have.

  2. Now the wanna D ride when they all said Knicks and have a shot and was getting sweep 🧹 now look at em eating 🍆🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  3. Once again when it comes to the Knicks winning a game it’s always about what the opposing team did wrong

  4. Lfg they said we gettin swept lml. Ead baabyy 💪🏽🌊🗽

🤣😭 Kat Williams, Kat Towns, Kat Stacks or Kat in the hat.. Knicks in 🖐🏽

  5. Nothing new for celtics this is common they can lead 30 pts when 4th quarter comes they end up losing what is new the good thing is they be back and win the series if ever go to 7 games

  6. I didn't watch the video and I won't because you keep showing Shaq and he doesn't work for Gametime. He's already clowning every where he goes and knows nothing about covering basketball. Why do you keep doing this?

  7. Celtics went thru an injured eastern conference last year, and had the gift of a matchup in the finals to just attack Luka all series. Now they gotta fight and people remember how they were choke artists before last year

  8. Katt & josh having the same amount of points is a sign that katt is unreliable. Thanks to OG & Mikal if it wasn't for them we wouldn't have won. Katt has to score more if the knicks want to win. He had no assist & 14 points.
