BOSTON — The Boston Celtics lost game 1 to the New York Knicks 108-105 in overtime on Monday night. The Celtics allowed a 20 Point lead slip away and let the Knicks steal game 1 in Boston.

In the postgame Joe Mazzulla was asked if the late game poor offense was due to missed shots or bad offense:

“Probably a combination of both”

Kristaps Porzingis exited the game in the 2nd Quarter and did not return the rest of the game. When asked in the postgame about KP’s status entering game 2 Joe provided this answer.

“I haven’t seen him yet, but we’ll check on him…hopefully he’s ready for Game 2.”

    I just couldn’t believe they couldn’t get it to the basket at all and then there was a couple times where they did get to the basket like at the end of the game. Jalen Brown misses a layup, the Celtics played terrible and still only lost by a couple points

    Super frustrating. The MO is to stack the three point line they need to get back to drive and dish. Teams watched how Orlando played us and are taking notes. We need to adjust next game. Chances are we won’t miss 45 3’s next game. It’s crazy we were in that game.

    I saw a Cs fan kick his tv over, smash it in to bits with a sledgehammer, dump it into a woodchipper,stir it into a barrel of flour and water, pour it into large baking pan and put it inside of a giant oven. He then dug a hole about 3 feet deep in his backyard, called his mom and told her he loved her, took the giant pan out of the giant oven, and revealed some sort of giant cake. He frosted the "cake" with a cement mix and quickly began to eat the entire 60-inch wide cake.

    He then got in his car and drove to The Charles River. Once there, he sat in his car, the motor was still running, and he crafted a manifesto which read: DEAR CELTICS… 60 F**KING 3s.. are you F-ING kidding me.

    Then, out of nowhere, a UAP arrived and landed nearby. A door opened and an extra terrestrial being emerged wearing a Knicks Jersey, and it spoke to him.. asking: "Hey. Why'd you eat the cement cake?"

    And what he said in response, shook me to my core!

    I think his point was to shoot out of this slump.

    Game 1 might be an L but keep shooting so the woes dont follow us in Game 2

    We left them open and we missed too many, and aa usual we got ISO . We habe ro wim as a team and make the right read.

    That's laughable, Joe…why didn't you COACH and get this team to get to the hole, alley oops, free throws, etc. A change of approach was definitely needed AT THAT TIME, and you did nothing to change the momentum, just keep chucking up 3's when they weren't falling. Frustrating.

    I am increasingly sure, looking at the game again, that Thibs decided to let them shoot threes in the second half, and focused on shoring up the paint, where the Knicks were getting absolutely murdered in the first half. And when the C's started choking, he let them. Whether he knew Mazzulla would NOT adjust in game when they were 'getting good looks', I cant say for certain, but if I knew it, I have got to imagine he did.

    Feel like everyone in the building knew what was going on except the C's.

    The C's had New York in foul hell, and just…completely let them off the hook. Had Brunson gasping for air, and completely cold…and stopped attacking him entirely. This was the worst game of basketball I've watched in a long time, the C's pretending that the regular season and the playoffs are the same is absolutely infuriating.

    Nets fan here ! The Celtics had too many days off ! They looked out of sync Then Porzinguis got sick ! I dont see the Knicks winning anymore games honestly

    Lifelong celtics fan here, they didn't look great in the Orlando series and honestly they still aren't…where's the hunger and 4 quarter post season intensity.
