The new Spurs coach saved Dejonte Murray’s life multiple times. Just ask Dejante. See, when Desante was around 15 years old, he got into a lot of trouble. He said he was in a tough place in his life, and that’s where Mitch Johnson stepped in. He bailed Deonte out of jail and placed him in strict academic learning that helped shape who he is today. Dejante even mentioned that Mitch built a whole AAOU program for him and became a mentor. Once the Spurs fell in love with Deonte during his draft process, they quickly noticed Mitch for his coaching resume and communication and brought him on as an assistant for the G- League affiliate team. Fast forward, Mitch is now stepping into a new role as a head coach and DeJonte was there to cheer him on. Filling in the shoes of an NBA legend won’t be an easy task for Mitch. But if he changed Dejante’s life around, he’s definitely more than capable of turning this organization around,
