Orlando Magic Trading For Anfernee Simons??

Yo, what’s going on guys? This is Houston Sports Talk back another video today and today we’re going to be talking about the Orlando Magic potentially trading for Anthony Simons as it’s been reported that the Orlando Magic would have interest in trading for Anthony Simons and he the Orlando Magic are also one of the favorites to land Anthony Simons in a potential trade. Anthony Simons is going to be an expiring contract next year. He’s not going into free agency this off seasonason, but next year, next offseason after the 2025 26 season, Anthony Simons will be a free agent. So, this could be a a rental for the Orlando Magic. But, um, now I think this is a trade that Orlando could get done easily. Uh, Portland for the right price, I think, could look to get him. Um, sorry, Portland for the right price could look to give him up. So, here’s the deal I have happening um to land the Magic Anthony Simons. The Magic would receive Anthony Simons. The Trailblazers receive Jonathan Isaac. Now, um, he has a terrible contract. That is something to consider. But Anthony Simons has a $27 million salary. So, you’ve got to fill that salary somehow. You add in Cole Anthony and Jet Howard, two young players to the deal. Um, alongside two first round picks and two second round picks to get it done. Keep in mind, I feel like there’s an extra second round pick that the two second round picks might be in this deal because the the Blazers are taking that terrible contract on of Jonathan Isaac. But the two first round picks I have going to Portland in this deal are the two first round picks that uh Portland has um sorry that Orlando has in this year’s draft which are 16 and 25. One of those is Orlando’s pick and one is is Denver. Um but Anthony Simons this year um has 19 averaged 19.3 points per game, five assists per game, three rebounds per game, one steal per game. Uh front three shot 36% is a career three-point shooter 38% played 70 games, 70 starts. Um, you want to look at the other guys, the guys that would be headed to Portland in the Steel. Cole Anthony is a really solid young player, could be a really good addition for this Portland team. Cole Anthony is, um, 24 years old still. And Anthony this year, 67 games, 22 starts, 10 points per game, three rebounds per game, three assists per game. Um, one steal per game, and a half a block per game from three is 35%. So, he could be a good addition. He’s not as good as Simons, but could be a good addition. Um, and then for, you know, for Orlando, you’d also bring in, um, Jed Howard, who is a young guy who’s only played two seasons, was selected um, 11th overall um, 11 selected 11th overall in the 2023 NBA draft. Um, has not played much, 60 games this year, 11.7 minutes per game. Um, and averaged five points per game, one rebound per game, one assist per game. uh but barely has gotten the opportunity to play in this league. Um and then Jonathan Isaac is a really good player that would be headed to Portland, but there’s just the problem of the terrible contract and the injury history that Jonathan Isaac has, and that would be the only issue. Um but Isaac this year, 71 games, one start, 15.4 minutes per game. Uh from the floor, shot 41%. Uh this year he averaged 5.4 four points per game with four rebounds per game. Keep in mind he was top 10 and six man of the year voting in the 2023 24 season. Averaged seven points per game, five rebounds per game. Really good def he’s a really good defensive player. Keep that in mind. One steal, one block per game. This year he averaged one steal and one and a half blocks per game in the 2023 24 season. But in the 2023 24 season shot 38% from three. Um shot 40% from three in the 2022 23 season. So, uh, he has had a lot of injury problems in in the span of from 2019 to 2023, but the last two years he’s been much better staying healthy. So, there’s the injury problem in the past, but also the fact that this contract is really bad. But I think um it’s not a terrible you’re not re it’s not a terrible trade for uh the or sorry for the Portland Trailblazers with what you’re getting back for a guy who’s an expiring deal. You’ve got a lot of guys who are promising at the guard position. Um, so you could add in Coley Anthony could come off the bench for this Portland team. Jonathan Isaac can help off the bench as well if you want him to. J Howard is a guy who can be a young piece for this team, but he also add in some nice draft capital. Um, I don’t know how likely it is that Orlando would give up both of their first round picks in um in 2025 of 16 and 25. But those are picks that um I think you could be willing to give up both of those picks if you can land a guy like Anthony Simons. Um, so yeah, and then the second round picks as well. But I think I think um the value that Portland gets as well is not is not just for what they’re giving up in Anthony Simons, but I think a part of it also has to deal with what they’re what they what they would be getting in Jonathan Isaac with the bad contract.
