Phoenix Suns Coaching Candidates

Hey, you’re listening to the Sun’s Jam Session. podcast. Shooting the [ __ ] about the Suns since 2019. Hey Jamsters, what’s going on? Welcome to another edition of the Suns Jam Session Podcast. The OG Phoenix Suns podcast when it comes to postgame podcast, but there are no games. There’s just really good basketball happening right now and the Suns have nothing to do with it. So, Matthew and I are going to come to you weekly to give you updates about the Phoenix Suns. Uh Matthew, how you doing? These [ __ ] second round games are unbelievable, man. It’s crazy. I feel like, you know, even the 40-point lead right now by the Thunder, it’s not safe. I’m going to go back downstairs to finish a game and the Nuggets will be down by like eight with like maybe three minutes left. Like, it’s been crazy. I don’t know if Adam Silver is behind this, but the ending to these games and the timeouts, the advertisements, it’s all really tying together to where this is probably the best basketball I’ve seen in the playoffs in a long ass time. Oh, yeah. Lot of upsets, too. It’s unprecedented what’s happening. And yeah, Adam Silver, he’s calling. He’s like, “Listen, Celtics, I need you to miss 14 shots in a row because not enough people are watching, so make it happen.” And they’re like, “Okay, we’ll we’ll do it.” And I mean, they’re down 02. Cleveland’s down 02. I mean, it’s this is again, it’s just it’s a great time of year for basketball. For those who think basketball’s dead, you’re right. During the regular season, during the All-Star break, during the NBA Cup, but come playoff time, it’s always magical. And it’s magical that the the Phoenix Suns aren’t there. I I I made a decision today, Matthew. I decided that normally I go, “Make sure you subscribe, rate, review, and all that shit.” I don’t think I’m going to say that anymore. Cuz it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter, right? No, it doesn’t. No. Like, because I never wait. Yeah. If I I never wait. It’s the first thing I do. If I like a channel, it’s the first thing I do is like, and I’m subscribed. But if I like what I’m seeing, I’m going to go ahead and subscribe, too. Yeah. I’m never like, “You know what? should I subscribe? And the guy’s like, “Make sure you subscribe.” I’m like, “You’re right, bro. I totally should.” Yeah. So, uh, here it is. What episode is this? Like 750 something. Uh, I finally decided I was taking out the trash today and I go, “You know what? I’m no longer going to tell people to subscribe, rate, review, write podcast, or write review, whatever. It’s just it’s a waste of time and I’ve wasted too much time talking about it. So, we got tons to talk about on this show. We’re going to be talking about obviously the Phoenix Suns new. there. They have hired a new general manager since we last spoke. Granted, it was kind of the guy that you and I were talking about on our last podcast. So, we want to talk about that. We’re definitely going to get into uh what’s going on relative to in the NBA with like Houston losing in game seven and the Lakers losing since we last spoke. Is this are there players on those teams that we could see transactions happen with the Phoenix Suns? And then we’re going to do a little who should be the next Phoenix Suns head coach snake draft where we have I think 10 candidates and we’re just going to draft them. Who who do we want to be the Suns head coach? And we’re just going to kind of go back and forth uh and draft our our next potential head coach and make cases kind of for and against. So with that being said, it’s time for the news. And now ladies and gasers, news about the Phoenix Suns. All right. Well, obviously the biggest news that’s happened since we last spoke, the Suns have hired a new general manager, Brian Gregory. Now, we talked about it last week, but Matthew, now that it’s official, is this the right move? He’s never been a GM before. Is this the right move? No. You know, I was watching uh so there there was a short and it was the Bickley blast and he took my little take on Jerry Jones kind of hiring internally but really having his hands on everything. So I don’t think it’s that I just don’t want to say yeah it’s a bad it’s a bad idea to get this guy or to keep this guy and just just make sure that he stays on the staff and just upgrade him a little bit or go get somebody else. Like I don’t know for sure what the right idea is when it comes to the GM. like who’s the right guy or the right fit. But a lot of this is just giving me the heebie-jebies, right? I think the first time I seen a Matt Ishbia press conference, it kind of made me feel like, oh, this guy’s kind of I don’t know, like a crackhead, right? So, I’m just going to go out and say I think this guy’s giving me the heebie-jeebies a little bit. Dude, I don’t really trust too much of what this guy is saying because he kind of seems like he’s kind of forming underneath what Matt Ishbia wants, right? kind of saying like he’s trying to build his plan, Matt Ishbia’s plan, not his own. And it just seems like these guys aren’t really or Matt is not really trusting the front office again or the GM. So, I still feel like this is Mattbia’s team and whatever he wants to do, he’s going to do. Yeah, this is an interesting scenario. uh the press conference after the season ended, Matt Ishbia said, you know, he had his his corporate buzzwords, identity and change. That’s what he said. He we need to define what Phoenix Suns basketball is and then we need to go get guys who who are part of that identity and change needs to occur. And that’s where I kind of have a challenge with this. And I I understand that this isn’t an exciting hire. And perhaps that’s what we need here in Phoenix because everything that has occurred recently, you know, since Matt Ishbia took over has been exciting. It hasn’t worked out, but when we got Kevin Durant, that was exciting. When you, me, and and Sons got together after Bradley Beiel was acquired on Father’s Day a couple summers ago, that was exciting. This isn’t an exciting hire, and perhaps that’s what we need. So, I’ll enter it with that kind of thought. But I spent last weekend watching Netflix and they have this series called Turning Point. And I watched all five episodes of Turning Point, the Vietnam War, followed by nine episodes of Turning Point, the bomb and the Cold War. So, I’m kind of in this place right now where I’m not a big fan of uh, you know, one party totalitarian state governments, you know, seeing Russia go through the 50s and and communism spread to Vietnam. Uh, and that’s what this kind of feels like. I mean, that’s the ick right there, right? Because you have a guy who’s saying, “Hey, we’re going to change.” Matt says, “We’re going to change.” And then what does he do? He hires somebody who was an assistant coach on his college basketball team and it’s just kind of one of his guys. And the thing that bothers me about that is kind of what you said like the Jerry Jones scenario where in a functioning organization my perception is the general manager is hired to be the general manager to be the expert. You hire people as an owner of an organization. You hire people to execute the job, not to be yesmen to what your vision is. And when Brian Gregory got up yesterday and started speaking and it was like, “Yeah, I’m fully aligned, right?” I mean, we started get getting hit with those buzzwords. I’m aligned with Matt Ishbia’s vision, right? The identity. I mean, those were the three words we hear over and over again. In fact, I got a fun little clip here courtesy of Cameron Cox at Channel 12. If you guys missed the press conference yesterday, here’s a summation of it. Building alignment, shape our identity, allows us to start the alignment, allows us to start building that identity. It’s about building that alignment. It’s about creating that identity. And it’s about executing that vision to execute that vision. Do it with the alignment and the identity. Building that identity and creating that alignment. That identity is very very important. Create that identity. Alignment execute that that vision. That vision we’re talking about exactly align with that. Finding that head coach that is aligned. Our identity is when I talk about alignment. There is complete alignment. Creating an identity. When we talk about identity, we are completely aligned. Build the identity. The alignment that is so important because that’s the alignment. There’s no way you can build the alignment. But Matt and I are aligned. But that relationship is founded on that alignment of executing the vision that we’ve put forth. Our we share the same vision of what our team needs to look like. There’s no way you can create that identity. Is the team aligned? Does the team know exactly what its identity is? The alignment piece, you can mark it down. That’s a aligned decision. Maybe there isn’t that alignment to the fans and to you guys. I’m going to be held accountable to executing this vision. One other area that Matt and I are extremely aligned in, with the alignment of Matt, that will be an aligned decision. 23 alignments, 13 identities, seven visions. Matthew, what the [ __ ] It reminds me of the ketchup, mustard, and the relish running around the track at Bank One Ballpark where, you know, it’s just like which one’s going to win, right? the alignment vision. I I don’t know. This guy is uh it’s okay, but I feel like do we need to have these press conferences at all? Like would anyone care if like, hey, we didn’t hear from this guy at all? Like even the James Jones ones, I don’t care. The only interesting one of like a GM you want to hear is like the Nico Harris, like what happened? Why did you trade? Yeah. No, but even that you’re not even going to get good [ __ ] So these things are just tough to even watch and sit through. So whoever actually put that together, brilliant. That’s Yeah. Camera Cox, Channel 12, unbelievable content uh right there. And I mean, that was the joke of it all when it was happening. You’re right. Nobody wins the press conference, right? You don’t watch a press conference. Although Suns fans have been duped by this in recent years after Mike Boonhoer’s press conference, we’re like, “Yeah, man. He said, “We need a point guard. I agree with that guy.” You know, but you can definitely lose my confidence. That dude is going to be calling teams to try to trade Kevin Durant. Like that’s his job. But what’s he like on the phone compared to what he is in a press conference? That’s what I’m saying. This isn’t the real guy that is all Yeah, it’s a smoke show. So, but still, it’s terrifying because it doesn’t feel like he has an original thought. Like, this was the company motto that was plastered up on the PowerPoint presentation while they were doing a retreat at the Phoenetian. And he’s like, and Matt’s like, “Dude, just make sure you hit up. You got to say these three words, okay? Just make sure that they understand that.” He’s like, “Oh, I’ll [ __ ] make sure they understand alignment, vision, and identity.” So, it’s like vision, identity, alignment via. So, maybe we we win via him. But I’ll tell you what, again, this goes against everything that’s happened over the past three years because I am unbelievably unconfident in him. Uh, I’m scared because our owner who says like, “Hey, I don’t make basketball decisions.” Man, that’s not my department. Is clearly just lining up yesmen who aren’t going to challenge the state. That’s the totalitarianism of this. They’re like, “Whatever you say, Matt. Yes, that’s a great decision.” You know, James Jones and and Bartlestein are just smiling in the corner going, “Yep, whatever you say, man. As long as we continue to get paid.” He’s like, “Okay, I’ve got the money. I’m just going to keep paying them.” I mean, seriously, like I could be the head coach for a season. Just give me 10 million and I’ll go away. I can just say the words that you want me to say. It was just icky. It was an icky press conference, man. Mhm. And you think that Suns fans like are even up for this? Like to hear a press conference. Even if we were to sign somebody, are we going to be excited to hear what they have to say or are we going to believe anything? Right? We have to, I think, go through a full season now to really believe in anything this team is really offering. Like agreed. We’re like hit so like badly in the gut by all of this. And you know, it is about the hand that feeds and who’s actually getting paid. Like you said, you would do that. You would go up there. Obviously, these guys are just getting paid big bucks to go out there and say whatever. The team wins, the team wins. I don’t think it’s really in the back of their mind. We’re like, we really want this to work out. We want to win for the Valley. These guys, I don’t see it in them. I don’t because there’s too much fakeness in them and there’s just there’s no realness in those press conferences. But like I said, you don’t really know who these guys are behind the scenes. But if that’s kind of guy that’s on the phone, like you said, trying to make a trade, that’s that’s tough to take. Well, and again, like, are you concerned with the fact that he’s never done this before? Because when you listen to the press conference, the way that he’s describing the alignment and the identity, and you know, he’s he’s sitting there, he’s like, “Well, we’re going to identify guys that are Phoenix Suns. You’re going to know what a Phoenix Sun is.” And if a guy doesn’t align with that identity of being a Phoenix Sun, he won’t be here. And what I hear when I when I when he says those words are that’s a very college coaching answer because you’re recruiting guys. Whereas in the NBA, yes, there is an aspect of recruiting, but these aren’t college players. These are millionaires who have personalities and egos that are tough to manage. See the last two seasons. And I’m just concerned that without any prior general manager experience, now granted, like James Jones came through the same route, right? He was the vice president of player programming and then he was a co- uh GM for a year and I forget the gentleman’s name who he was co-g, but that was the year that they drafted Aton and MueL Bridges and then he took the job. So, it’s it’s not completely unheard of, but when it but there’s just again there’s that that stank around it because he’s a Michigan State guy. It’s one of Ishbia’s cronies and I you’re right that you can’t take much from these press conferences, but it does rise a level of concern. And I continue to fall back on the fact that maybe that concern is a good thing because in other moves I didn’t feel nearly as concerned. And so now that I am now that I am concerned, maybe the opposite will happen. It just seems like the organization is just so lost right now, right? There’s no connection between the fan base, between the media, between the players, the GMs. It’s just so lost. the vision like he mentioned like we’re yet to see it obviously but I can’t really vision some envision something that’s actually going to make me a little excited about the future of the Suns especially when we still have the the roster we have and stuff so I just I think it’s going to take a little while man like let’s see what happens this offseason obviously but it’s going to take some a long time to earn back some trust you’re right and in the same token it’s funny because I feel myself turning heel as I write for Bright Side because you know me I’m typically a realist with a optimistic point of view. I’ll sit there and I’ll put everything factual on the table and go, “Hey, this is kind of the state of the organization, but let’s try to find the positives.” And right now, I really have felt myself just because of the last couple seasons and their end results being like, “Yeah, I’ll believe it when I see it.” kind of thing. And that’s this is just another example of that. So, uh, final boss Roya in the chat, $1.99 in the super chat. truly appreciate you supporting the podcast. Says, “So, we got Teimu Myers or Goodwill Meyers. Uh, we didn’t get anything close to any Meyers. Even Goodwill Myers is probably better than what we have.” But again, as Matthew mentioned, time will tell. And I know that a lot of us are jumping on this bandwagon of just really trying to uh go after the general manager because of a poor press conference. But and as I wrote in my article about the the press conference itself, you know, action is going to be the currency that matters to us moving forward. I don’t care if this guy says the same words 5,000 times. If results occur and actions and transactions and good strategic planning around fixing this unbelievably broken roster occur, then yeah, say [ __ ] identity and alignment all you want. Just make make it happen, right? Yeah. And is this is this something that Booker knew was coming, too? I mean to say so early on well towards the end of the season where he’s really happy here in Phoenix and he wants to continue his path here and try to win us a championship. Does he know about these ahead of time like the signings of the new GM? I mean no he probably knows that he’s got that extension coming in a couple years at 75. He doesn’t want to get looted. Yep. Yeah. He doesn’t want to get looted. He’s You don’t see him drinking beer anywhere. There’s no hooku smoking for him. Did you ever do you ever watch the Sunday conversation the from bar bar stool? No. Oh, okay. Okay. They did an interview with Luca. That guy is just he seems like a piece of [ __ ] Sorry. He just does. Yeah, absolutely. Like the one worded answers. Yeah. He’s just he’s just pretty arrogant. Like I could not imagine trying to talk to that guy and trying to get him to work out or try to actually pay attention to what’s going on around the league and that you need to be the better superstar to win us the championship. Like he just seems like he’s just so stuck up, dude. That trade just makes more and more sense every day. Not the actual trade, the fact that he’s gone maybe makes more and more sense. Well, again, you know, breaking news here on the Suns Jam Session podcast. Uh, Matthew just Ryan Riddle this thing and can see Nico Harrison’s point of view. Uh, but you’re not wrong. I mean, Golden Boy, right? Like that’s who he’s always been. So, he’s been worshiped everywhere he went. And it looked like Nico Harrison was just like, “Dude, I just I can’t see it. I can’t see with this guy. This guy’s an asshole.” And that’s kind of what everybody says. Like, he’s a really good [ __ ] you know? So, I mean, that that will forever be the debate. And in time will tell. I think the one thing that really pisses me off is the the sheer fact that he’s in our Pacific division now and we get to see him like four or five times a year now because of it and he cooks us. It’s like he’d be an [ __ ] all he wants but he [ __ ] us up on the court. Uh speaking of the Lakers, uh they’re out. Um Houston’s out. So both of those teams potentially could be teams that transactions occur with the Phoenix Suns. Kevin Durant, for example, his name has been linked to Houston for quite some time. Although those rumors have recently been shot down by the Stein line, there’s, you know, if you’re the person who’s trying to trade Deon Booker, you’re looking at Houston and going, “Okay, give me cap draft capital. Give me talent.” The Lakers, uh, could that be a Kevin Durant destination? You know, is that something someone who they might go after a Grayson Allen? When you look at Houston being out, when you look at the Lakers being out, is there anybody on those teams that you’re like, you know what, yes, give me that. uh you know in a trade it just depends which way the Lakers are going to go but Austin Reeves really towards the end of that series wasn’t really used I feel like to his capability I think he’s ob obviously their third best guy he didn’t look like it but when you have Luca and if LeBron is returning I think that’s a guy you kind of want to flip and try to trade I’m not saying the Suns really have a chance of getting him but if that’s the destination if it works out I don’t know how the money works right now because I didn’t try it but if you’re actually going to trade Kevin Durant you can get back like an Austin Reeves I think that’s the win for the Suns and if you get back picks if they have anything. But for the Suns, dude, if you’re looking at anybody right now, maybe you go for the youth with the Rockets and take some picks. But of course, on the other side of things, Houston, it doesn’t make sense. I wouldn’t give up anything unless you’re getting Devin Booker and you have a guy that can score because that was their issue trying to find someone that can score at the end of the game. Yes. Big time. They have everything else they they really need to kind of succeed, but they need a Booker and they need a few extra pieces. But man, the Suns really right now, um, you know, these two teams, I just don’t think there’s enough, unless it is an Austin Reeves that would make me excited to kind of move forward and watch him next year in a Suns uniform because Gerald Green isn’t really a guy that he’s going to be traded. He’s not Jayen Green. You mean Jerald Green played for the Suns? No, I said Jaylen. Did I say Jaylen Green? You said I’m a little stuffed up a little bit so the L’s probably but uh yeah I I just think that is Is your nose aligned? Is it aligned? Yeah. As long as it’s aligned and has a good identity then the vision works out. I was like I don’t know. Am I symmetrical? Is that what you’re asking? Uh yeah. But anyways, I I just don’t think there’s too much back unless you’re going to get Austin Reeves. Yeah. I think watching Houston’s the big name, right? uh or the big potential destination. And I’m I’m kind of I’m almost at that point where I’m getting ready to really sit down one of these weekends, put down MLB The Show, uh cuz I’ve been [ __ ] playing the [ __ ] out of that game. That game is so [ __ ] fun. They do such a good job of just making it engaging. Baseball’s boring as [ __ ] And MLB the show is dope. Are you done watching baseball right now? I was wearing my Yankee shirt at Sam’s and some guy was wearing Dbacks. He’s like Aaron Judge New two for four a day. I’m like, “Yep.” I’m like, “Damn, I’m so glad he didn’t say any other player but Aaron Judge because I wouldn’t even know.” Dude, Aaron Judge [ __ ] crushing it right now, doesn’t he? Every season until this is like [ __ ] hit a ball. Yeah, he can’t catch the ball. So, that’s why I’m out. I’m out. No, I’m I’m watching I’m watching here and there, but uh I’m playing It’s so tough because you have you have amazing playoff games and then I’m trying to sneak in the show and then uh I have to watch all those documentaries about the Cold War. I mean, they’re not gonna watch themselves. I need to know about the geopolitical scene in 1952, man. You know, you still have the two TVs out in the living room, huh? Where you can play the show and watch your watching games. Remember those days, dude? I remember those days. That was uh NBA 2K. You’d have that on in the corner. It’d be like football Sunday and you just be grinding out [ __ ] games in the corner of the room while we’re watching football. Yeah. On the other side. That’s what we did. That was [ __ ] dope. Um I was supposed to I was talking about something M uh oh yeah, Houston. Houston. Yeah. Well, so Oh, so essentially between all this, I’m almost at the point where I’m really I want to sit down and put together my offseason thesis. What steps do I think the Suns should take? Right? Step one, buy out Bradley Beal. Okay, how much do I think we could buy him out for? How much dead cap space does that create for the Suns? Does it get us under the second apron? Wave this guy, trade that guy, do this. This is what I think we should do. Uh, if you were to say Kevin Durant traded to Houston, one, you’re not going to get a ton back. Two, don’t give me [ __ ] Jaylen Green. I don’t want him. Uh, you’ll never get Amen Thompson. And you’re not going to get the ninth pick back or whatever that’s going to be. And we’re going to find that out next Monday. That’s the draft lottery. Whatever that draft capital is, doesn’t matter. There’s no world where they’re going to [ __ ] trade us that or our 2027 pick back. They’re just not going to. Even for Kevin Durant, they’re not going to. They’ll be like, “Okay, we’ll give you like our pick, you know, the one that we’re going to be good because you’re going to give us Kevin Durant.” So, it’ll be like Cam Whitmore, Tari E, and like two first rounders. That’s what we end up getting. So, when I look at Houston, they make sense as a destination potentially for uh Kevin Durant because, like you said, they needed shooting in the worst way at the end of games, but it doesn’t make sense. It’s not mutually beneficial. Uh Mark Brooks says KD to the Miami Heat. How [ __ ] hysterical would that be after all the we trying to get Jimmy in the middle of the season and it just wouldn’t happen and then he ends up with the Heat anyways and we don’t get Jimmy out of the deal. That that’s that would actually piss me off. I mean, come on, man. Like after all that after all that. Well, yeah, but also what we would got what we would have gotten back wasn’t as good as what we got from Golden State or the mixture of between some other team is the the three team trade. So, that’s the challenge. Uh, I well, I’ll save it for my thesis, but I think I’ve finally kind of landed what I want to do with Kevin Durant. But looking at the Lakers, not a lot there that I want. Uh, they need a big man more than anything, and we don’t have one. And I think it’s funny that they need a big man after they said goodbye to Mark Williams and they’re like, “Hey, uh, Mark, uh, Mark Williams isn’t good enough to play for us.” And then because he’s injured and he went out and he scored like 20 points that night and he’s like, “I’m not injured.” And Johnny Deng says, “Uh, Jimmy not coming with was a blessing in disguise.” I don’t know about that. They [ __ ] They went like 22 and seven to close the season. Yeah. The only thing was a Kaminga thing watching him in the playoffs. Obviously, he was benched basically the whole first series. That’s cuz Steve K don’t like him. I know. And you know what? Like I knew he had like that attitude where anytime you watch these games that he’s in, they show instant replay like what the [ __ ] did he do? Let me see. It’s like always going to be an ISO. he’s taking some guy off ball and he just he is so much about himself. He’s a very selfish player still. So I thought he was kind of past that and I’m like let me let’s get Kaminga here. But I’m actually glad about that part cuz I I would have loved Kaminga but I feel like he would have been a bad fit, a bad piece. Valenunis obviously who knows but the Jimmy Butler. Yeah, it makes sense. But I just was high on the Kaminga thing but I’m all out on that now. Yeah. Uh seeing the same thing. There’s a there’s a reason why Steve Ker doesn’t play. He’s not a team guy. He’s like a lamelo ball kind of guy. He doesn’t You can tell he doesn’t listen. Yeah. Yeah. You could tell he’s kind of has that Aiden kind of look to him. A little bit of Aiden feel where he’s just kind of like even though Aiden was very unselfish, but it just seemed like, you know, he doesn’t he wasn’t really paying attention what anybody else was saying around him. Yeah. People were giving him feedback and he would just be staring back at them thinking about like, gosh, I should really get a bed in my house. Think about playing MLB the show. Like, dude, I just got to grind and get one more program and then I got to get out of TripleA. Next thing you know, I got Oh, yeah. I I started doing that. I’m I’m on the Diamond Dynasty [ __ ] The the Phoenix Racing Pigeons is my team name for those who care. That’s beautiful, man. Yeah, it is. It is. All right. Well, let’s talk about the who should be the next coach Snake draft. So, we’ve put together about 10 different guys and what I’d like to do here is we kind of go back and forth and just pick like who do you want to be the next Suns head coach and why? and we’ll kind of go down the list until we’re kind of at that point where like, dude, I kind of hope it’s not that guy. Knowing fully well that that’s going to be the guy that the Suns end up getting. Uh, let’s I’ll let you go first, Matthew. Really? Yeah. Who do you want to be the Suns? I mean, so just so you guys know, here are the 10 names that have been linked to the Phoenix Suns. A lot of these are from uh uh the Stein line, Mark Stein, uh Michael Scoto, I think that’s how you say his name, from Hoops Hype. So we have Taylor Jenkins, Sean Sweeney, Adam Capornne, Ben Sullivan, David Jagger, James Burggo, Chris Quinn, Royal Ivy, Sam Cassell, Jared Dudley. So that’s kind of the pool that we are pulling from right here. That being said, Matthew, who’s your number one overall pick? Who do you want to be the Suns next head coach? Yeah, I’m not very excited about any of these guys. You know, looking up a lot of them, it’s fine because they’re younger, right? You don’t want to be looking at the older dudes, saggy skin. And plus, you don’t really know what the Phoenix Suns want in their locker room, right? I mean, no one can get along with these coaches. So, I don’t know if they’re just really sick of these old dudes with the saggy balls and stuff just walking around. Maybe they want some young flesh, some high-end tights. I think that, you know, the main guy that I definitely I’ll get a little bit excited just because of his experience already in the league as an assistant and his playing time too in the NBA and his respect. I think it just has to be Sam Cassell. You know, as I said before going into this, all of these guys not too excited, but you know, he’s the one guy that I feel like it’s his turn. And I think the Suns would be a really good pick. And he is the one guy when I wake up in the morning and I don’t look at my Twitter because I don’t have a Twitter account and he’s the Sun’s new head coach. I would not be surprised, man. It’d be nice. Like I He’s He’s right up there. He’s like one of my top three and I’ve been saying his name for quite some time. He comes from the Doc Rivers uh tree of coaching. Known for his leadership and player mentorship. He coached under Doc Rivers for years. He developed John Wall when he played in Washington. Currently an assistant coach for the the Celtics who lost again tonight but are world champions. And he played those 22 games for the Suns back in 9697. So yeah, you know, he’s uh he’s somebody who definitely has that affinity. He he fits the mold, right? he fits the mold of what the Suns are trying to accomplish because they’ve stated that they want a young head coach uh probably an ex player and a first-time head coach and Sam Cassell he checks all those boxes so I can’t argue with you taking taking him number one overall. Uh I’m glad you did because it leaves my guy open and my guy the number one guy I would like to see the Phoenix Suns have as their next head coach is Chris Quinn. So, Chris Quinn, uh, 10 seasons as the Miami Heat assistant coach, big player development guy, right? And that’s what that’s what Brian Gregory was really harping on yesterday. If you read between the lines and what Brian Gregory was saying yesterday, he said he wants to focus on the draft, which is kind of uh, a zag from what this team has been under James Jones. and he’s big on player development, which kind of it’s like, hey, does that mean we’re trading people because you want to focus on the draft and and develop young players? That might be an avenue that he is exploring as general manager. So, when we talk about Kevin Durant or Bradley Beal being traded, there could be a world where that happens under this new general manager because he wants, you know, a young coach to who is good at player development. And that’s where Chris Quinn comes in. you know, six NBA seasons played with the Heat, fourtime uh four years played at Notre Dame. So, obviously, he’s got my attention there. And again, coming from that Eric Spolster tree of coaching, which is you talk about culture, you talk about identity, you talk about these buzzwords, a Chris Quinn checks a lot of those boxes. Uh, you know, obviously there’s 15 14 or 15 people that the the Suns are currently interviewing and his name is linked to them and he’s the one that I that I would like the most. Yeah, I definitely like him and it kind of scares me because I feel like some of these guys might be good coaches, right? But what are they coming into and how can the players actually, you know, kind of cooperate, right? I mean, if we’re going to get a guy in here that’s going to be long term, it’s going to be hard in the beginning, right, to get adjusted. I just don’t want a guy like him to come in, get his chance with an organization, and just, you know, kind of get capooted because, hey, these guys don’t agree with him, right? And you never know. Even coach Papovic, his first season was tough with the Spurs, right? he was almost outed. Like you just got to give these guys some time and I think he’s a perfect guy. He has a great look. If you want to match JJ Reic, you got your closest match, I feel like. Right. So I think he’s definitely um he he was actually my number one, but I know you liked him so much, so I left him. Oh, I appreciate that. I appreciate that. Yeah. I think and that’s the advantage a lot of these these coaches is anyone that we’re going to bring in because of their youth and inexperience, I think there’s going to be more leeway. Mhm. And to your point, like even if it’s a bad season next year, which it’s completely plausible it’s a bad season as this team tries to get out of the hole that they’ve dug, they’re at least moving forward knowing that they’re going to have stability at the head coach position. And that’s valuable for a team that’s looking to try to turn things around. And and in my opinion, what’s probably going to happen with this team is a retool, not a rebuild. But a retool, it’s still going to take a year and to to really reset a lot of that that cap situation and dead cap space and things of that nature. And so, whoever you bring in is going to be somebody who’s going to have to align with that. That [ __ ] word is going to drive me crazy. I haven’t heard the word alignment that much since I I went and I got my tires rotated a couple weeks ago. They realigned my [ __ ] truck and they said, “Hey, it’s going to be $1,400 for all new tires.” I’m like, “Fuck me.” It’s $1,400, dude. Dude, I was not aligned with that identity, but I needed tires. No, but so it’s a snake draft. So, should I go again or should we We should go back and forth. You can Yeah, you go again. Okay. Okay. Well, my next guy that I would like, Royal Ivy. The [ __ ] I’m just joking. Royal Ivy, uh, kind of from the Billy Donovan tree of coaching, but also known for, you know, his leadership, his development, and defense. He’s an assistant coach for the Houston Rockets since 2023, but before that, he was over with the Oklahoma City Thunder as an assistant, as a net assistant, and the current head coach of the South Sudan national team that almost beat the the Americans in uh the preliminary exhibition games in like London last summer. So, that’s where you might recognize him. Uh former NBA guard with a decade of experience playing for ATL, Philly, OKC, and Millywake. So again, another young guy who can communicate with players and relate to them and you know, probably in that in that vein of new school coach, not that old school coach that is Mike Boonhoer and Frank Vogle to where it’s like when he tells them to do something, they don’t want to do it. They just go, “Well, I’m not going to do it. I’m going to hit up Suns Jam session on Twitter.” So I like Royal Ivy a lot. It’s like if we get Roy Live or Chris Quinn or Sam Cassell, those top three that we’ve just picked, like every one of those I’m like, okay, I can see the why and I agree with it. Yeah. And other than like the Rockets, I feel like has he really coached or been an assistant on a winning team? Right. The Nets kind of missed the boat. The Knicks kind of I don’t you know what I mean? The Oklahoma City Thunder years like that was kind of after, you know, I think that was a Westbrook years. obviously was trying to get the triple double, but Mhm. you know, one way to look at this too is like winning doesn’t matter either, right? It’s about the experience. Maybe all the losing too does help where he knows what to do, right? Right. If he actually is put in the right position. So, that’s kind of a way I’m looking at it. I’m not really looking at, hey, have these guys won a championship because obviously it doesn’t [ __ ] matter. So, I like the pick of Royal Ivy. I’m going to go with James Burggo as my second pick. Good pick, man. Damn. Yeah. I think um obviously other than the look, we’re going to kind of go with the really good hair, the black hair, uh good facial hair. We want that to keep going, but great facial hair. Yeah, you have to, man. Like if you want to be respected, you got to have some facial hair. Good facial hair. Um because I have facial hair. It’s not good. It’s just Chris Quinn’s out then. And so Sam Cassell. Yeah, but Sam Cassell has like the alien head, right? He’s already kind of creepy looking. Yes, he does. uh starting job, you know, the horny hornets. What can you do with that? I mean, you can’t really win if you have a player that’s a star that’s always hurt all the time and you have another guy that’s a wife beater. Kind of ruins the locker room, but he does come from pop, obviously. So, I think he had his chances in Charlotte, but it wasn’t um really the right the right spot. I think anybody would tell you like if you’re going to be head coach anywhere, Charlotte would be the last place. I don’t care who’s on that team. I would never want to coach for the Horny Hornets. So give this guy another chance somewhere else with some decent players that might stay healthy even though the SL players don’t stay healthy. So yeah, you know, currently currently an assistant with the New Orleans Pelicans, uh, you know, with Willie Green and like you said, he was a head coach for four years. So this is one of those guys who’s kind of a little bit outside the purview of probably what the Suns are seeking because he’s previously been a head coach. But that’s also not a bad thing. When I have a GM who’s never GM, I don’t know if I necessarily want a head coach who’s never head coached. uh four years he had he was the head coach from 2018 to 22 with the Charlotte Hornets. Uh was with the Magic before that, uh the Hornets before that, the Spurs before that, and that’s where he comes in. He’s a he’s a pop guy. Uh won a couple championships with them as an assistant after being uh a coach over with the University of San Diego. So, uh which is where he went to school. Um yeah, I like I like James Burggo, too. He’s he’s right on that kind of cusp of he he’s kind of the first guy where it’s like, okay, the guy hasn’t coached before or the guy has coached before. Uh and if the Suns are willing to look past that, then I’m all for Berego. Uh the the next guy I would like to go cuz Wait, is it It’s my turn, right? Oh, yeah. Yeah, you’re back to back to back. My bad. My bad. You know, good cuz I don’t want to pick any of these guys. I know. Let’s go with the 6’10” Ben Sullivan. Ben Sullivan. Look at Look at this guy. Another pop. Yeah. Looks like John a little bit, right? Little bit. Little bit. Little bit. Yeah. Not not as much as another guy on this [ __ ] list. I I He was with the Spurs, right? A couple years. Like when I looked it up on Wikipedia, it was like the Spurs, but they had some random name in there. I’m like, what did it say? Like, so I was just making sure. But yeah, player development with the Spurs, which is actually great because you kind of want that now with the Phoenix Suns. But as we might get younger, who knows? I don’t even know what’s going to happen. But won a championship with Milwaukee. Um, yeah. I just think because of his tallness and his dominating factor and um determination to um I guess to kind of stand in people’s way, I feel like he seems like a guy that can kind of threaten these players a little bit to kind of fall in line. So, I’m hoping that would work. But honestly, I don’t even think that works anymore. So, I don’t know. He’s got a good look. What I like about Ben Sullivan is he went to Sea Sun, uh which is Cal State University, Northridge. I used I grew up right over by there. So, it’s like yeah, sea sun. Uh but that’s all I really know about him. He he’s the other guy on the on the Houston Rockets bench, right? It’s like him and Royal Ivy are and you got to think like uh EM Udoka, the culture that he’s instilled in Houston has been absolutely paramount to their success these last two seasons. That guy’s a hard ass, but he’s like a hard ass you want to fight for, not like a hard ass you want to fight. Like Bud, coach Bud Bonhozer, the players wanted to punch that guy. Yeah. But like with Udoka, he fortifies their resolve as a team and they want to fight for that guy. And part of that’s the message being communicated by his assistant coaches. Now granted, like he’s the driving force, so you don’t know how much Royal Ivy or Ben Sullivan, how much of Eay is going to rub off on them and if they could bring that. And that’s kind of why, you know, both like Royal Ivy I wouldn’t be opposed to, but I also I’m not overly impressed because it’s not just by association. I need to see the actual facts and and see how they actually execute on the court. And and with Sullivan and Royal Ivy, you I just don’t know. Chris Quinn, I have a lot more uh I’ve just I I’ve I’ve known who he is longer, which is probably again why the Suns won’t [ __ ] take him. Uh all right, so I’m up now for the next couple picks. Uh, I’ll just get this one out of the way. Taylor Jenkins. All right. I don’t want a Taylor Jenkins. Uh, he he comes from the pop. Don’t want these. I I don’t want this guy just because every everyone says I look like him. And the last thing like when Taylor Jenkins got canned by the Memphis Grizzlies. Mhm. You know how many people hit me up on Twitter and be like, “Hey man, sorry you lost your job.” I’m like, “What the [ __ ] is everybody talking about?” And then I was like, “Oh, Taylor Jenkins.” You know, but he’s a retread in my opinion. He’s he’s not what the Suns are looking for. He’s a little old school. I don’t think that he has the ability to relate. I think that like Mike Malone in Denver, the course had kind of run, but there had been a little bit of success there. So, they held on to him probably longer than they wanted to ultimately getting fired before the season ended. You know, he was part of of the Bucks. You know, he’s a Papovic Boonhozer guy. I don’t know if we need that. I don’t know if we need it either. And it’s it’s tough what these guys are going to buy into. um a play or a coach like him I just feel like would fit a good defensive hard-nosed system. You know, what they had in Memphis was good. Obviously, I feel like the players maybe got sick of him and maybe that’s what’s wrong with like keeping the same roster together for so long get you get sick of the coach and if it’s not going the right direction then you got to boot him. But I feel like he would be a decent coach. It’s not like if we were to actually get him be like, “Oh, that [ __ ] sucks.” But I just would know he only would have a year because that’s the way it is now with these older coaches that have actually won that have been in winning situations that have, you know, quite the resume. If they’re not winning right away, he’s going to be booting. Yeah. So, it’s I like him. I always liked him as a coach. I still don’t understand why he left because I wasn’t a big fan of Jaw this year at all. I think Jaw [ __ ] sucked. He was not even close to being the old Jaw. So, that team already didn’t have a chance. It sounds like they took they gutted his assistant coaching staff last summer. He was unhappy about it all season and they finally just said, “Fuck it. You’re out.” You know, like we’re not winning. We’re not doing anything. We’re going to get poned by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round. So, you’re out. Next guy, uh, and I want to be hor, you know, this would be the end of the world. But, uh, Dave Dave Joerger. All right. So, for those of you who don’t know, Yeah, it’s Joerger. Although it does definitely doesn’t look like it’s not. I looked it up on Wikipedia. I’m like, how the [ __ ] do you even say that? Uh but Dave Joerger, former college point guard, uh another Doc guy, uh head coach of the Grizzlies and Kings. So definitely somebody who has had head coaching experience, but he was 245 and 247 overall. So like not a lot of wins even with you and and play, you know, coach of the Grizzlies when they weren’t great. coach with the Kings obviously when they weren’t great, but he is a defensive guy and if you’re looking for a change and you want to embrace defense and and that’s one thing I’m going to pivot this conversation a little bit. One thing I’ve noticed in the conversations around what the Suns should do this off season is everybody’s saying defense, defense, defense, defense, right? And that’s not wrong. This team does need more of a defensive identity. It starts with the head coach and then it comes uh it comes through the play of the players who are ultimately put on this team. But that can’t be our whole identity like All right. So, let me ask you this. Like last summer after the Suns like couldn’t just historically bad in the fourth quarter, what did you think the Suns needed to do with the team? What do they need to add? I thought point guard was always the number one thing. Exactly. Right. So the whole last offse everyone’s like point guard point guard. We need point guards. [ __ ] point guard. So we got two of them. We actually got three cuz Tai Tai Washington. We got a bunch of undersized point guards. And guess what? That’s not what it is. And I see people starting to put together mock trades and they’re like, “Hey, trade Kevin Durant and we can get this that and the other.” And they’re like, “We can get Josh Hart and OGN Noi and and then we’d have Devin Booker as the point guard.” I’m like, and I see these mock trades and and I’m like, “Dude, that’s not it.” They’re like, “Yeah, but think about the defense.” Mike, yeah, but that roster that you just put together with Nick Richards as our starting center shoots 34% from beyond the arc. Like, it takes balance to build a team. And yes, we need to be better defensively, but the challenge that we’re all facing right now is we’re processing what we just saw. The 27th overall defensive team in the league. We were [ __ ] horrible at defense. So, naturally, our [ __ ] ape brains go, “Well, we need more defense. It should be all defense. Everybody, we get defense, defense, defense.” It’s like, yeah, but you still need to have offense, right? Like, we can’t be we don’t want to turn into the Orlando Magic this upcoming offseason where we just go out and we try to get a bunch of defensive wings that don’t exist, and if they do exist, they’re probably going to be highriced or out or unattainable by the Suns, but if by some miracle we can get these defensive wings that are all 68 and above and we have this monster monsters of a defensive team, will be the Orlando Magic. We can’t [ __ ] shoot. So, what I guess the reason I make this these statements is it’s something I’ve been thinking about. It’s an article I wrote and it’s something I just want to remind all my fellow Suns fans is like as we start to navigate as many of you already have how to fix this team. Don’t fall into one archetype of how don’t don’t take what we we sucked at last year and just say let’s throw all of our resources at that one aspect of the team. There’s multiple as there’s balance. Not one of the teams that are playing right now, the eight teams that are left are identical. None of them have a sim. There’s not one way to fix a team. Yes, we need more defense. We need more athleticism. We need more youth, you know, but we still need shooting. We still need ball security. We still need shot creation. We still need to have the ability to have guys like a Devin Booker and a Kevin Durant who can create their own shot because in every scenario I see where everyone’s trading away Kevin Durant or trade away Deon Booker. We’re getting none of that back. We’re getting no offense back. We’re getting like guys who are maybe good at isolation basketball, but not guys who can create their own shot and get their teammates involved. So, uh, that’s why [ __ ] David Jagger or whatever his name is. Yeah. And I like the fact that, you know, we always want to kind of go one way or the other, but what’s right in the middle? It’s Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. Two, in my eyes now, just low IQ players. Only the reason I only say that is because Kevin Durant came out last year and said like, hey, like maybe the offense shouldn’t be so complicated. Devin Booker to me, he’s lower IQ just because I can see in his [ __ ] eyes. He can’t finish a game for the Suns and he can’t be a leader on the court full like the whole full season. So, a lot of these teams, they have that one player you can rely on to really win you a game to maneuver a game. Like, I really think that what the Knicks are doing right now with Cibido, like you thought I predicted like they would lose the first round, just so tired all the time, right? But they have a guy in Brunson who is tirelessly always trying to get better, tirelessly always practicing every game. He’s per he has it down to a perfection almost to where he knows exactly what to do on the court, how to lead his team, right? I think all these teams, like you said, they’re not all the same at all, but they always have one thing in common. They really have these high IQ guys to lead them. And I just don’t think Booker and KD are those guys. I’m sorry. I just I don’t They can find their own shot. KD is I feel like I think he’s absolutely a high IQ basketball. He’s a good basketball player, but I don’t I don’t trust him to win you a game at all. Oh, I absolutely do. I absolutely do. I mean, he did it this season. That’s What was the Sun’s record when he wasn’t playing like three and 18 or 19? I mean, he was the guy who was who you trust in in crunch time almost to a fault. Uh, but at the same time, there needs to be the appropriate resources around him because you talk about like, and you’re right, like the way that Brunson can finish, the way that Tatum can finish on, you know, not in these past couple games, you know, the way Tyresese Hallebertton can finish. uh let’s talk about how the Suns didn’t draft him, you know, like uh but again, there’s no one way to build a team, but you can’t become so obsessed with one deficiency that you had with your team that you neglect every other aspect of basketball creation. And that’s why I’m glad all of you guys aren’t GMs, myself included, you know. Well, is it going to be a copycat thing though because of Ishbia? Like if we really think he’s going to win the or he’s going to be controlling the team and making the moves like he’s looking at Twitter. He’s seeing what everyone else is doing, right? Does he have the vision to build something else different to what actually is going to help Devin Booker to surround him with players that are unique and actually, you know, fill the right holes to make this team a winning team to win 60 games a season or 55 at least. Like I just I don’t see that only because I think he had the wrong two players, but also if Matt Ishb is trying to do that, then we’re [ __ ] screwed because it’s gonna go that way because it’s gonna be like that. Get the hot player like Anub Anobi everyone wants. Maybe get male back here, but depending on what the Knicks do this postseason, but that’s scary because he’s already been trying to do that and I don’t think that’s anything that he’s going to be maybe down on. The scary thing for me is the the pivoting of the vision. And it’s not a bad thing. It’s a necessary thing, but how hard will he pivot on the vision? And again, I’ve mentioned this before, but it reminds me of like uh I forget the name of the owner uh who took over for the Boston or the the Brooklyn Nets and did just what Ishbia did, man. He traded the [ __ ] farm to get Kevin Garner, Paul Pierce there, and then two seasons after going horribly wrong because they were old and not the right guys, he had a pivot and they’re still trying to get out of that pivot to this day. They’re still and I think he sold the team since then and there’s a new owner, but they’re still trying to get out of that tail spin. But they had Kyrie and KD in between then, right? Yeah. James Harden, like they tried to have that come alive and that didn’t work out. And that didn’t work out. So, I want to see how far they correct. And the Devin Booker thing, like I I get where you’re coming from, but I also look at it through this lens is, you know, this guy was the 12th best scorer in the league last year, and that was a down season. And all the external issues that this team was having combined with the fact that he is focused on being a shoe salesman made this a tough season for him. And so as they as this team looks to retool around him, the hope is that there is truly a vision and an identity and an alignment with that identity and vision that is an understanding of how to properly build around him. And that’s what every team goes through. That’s what the Knicks are going through, right? They did the same thing around Jaylen Brunson this past year. They went out and they got male Bridges and they got Carl Anthony Towns. You know, teams do this every year is they identify their guy and whether he’s not the right or or whether he’s the right guy or the wrong guy, he’s still your guy. So, you have to make an effort to build around him because you don’t just get a your guy all the time. You get what you get and you have to try to make the best of the situation. So, is Devin Booker the guy? Time will ultimately tell. Uh instincts according to you or the answer is no. My instincts are like maybe. I’m hopeful, but probably not. But sometimes if you have a guy who can who is who’s talented enough combined with the right guys around him, things can happen. I can hope. Yeah, I think so. Yeah. I mean, he has I’m trying to talk myself into this [ __ ] I mean, he had his breakthrough a couple seasons ago, so I think, you know, it’s there maybe, but I just I feel like the guys were breakthrough. He he had his breakthrough and then the team did a horrible job building around him. Like, that’s right. Yeah, I know. Because they needed that like they needed that leader. They needed someone that actually knew how to finish and win games. And I guess KD maybe was that guy, but I mean, we were below 500. So, I I just think I get your point of view there. If you’re looking at like a KD archetype versus like a Chris Paul archetype, I get exactly what you’re saying. Yeah. But also like Kate Cunningham, Anthony Edwards, like these guys that are in the playoffs right now, like these are guys that’s like, “Oh, [ __ ] yeah.” Like that’s what we want to build around. Like that’s a dude right there. Like we don’t have that guy. Booker is not that guy. But the other side of this I will say though is we’re saying that from outside the organization and you know as well as I do when you go into the subreddits of opposing teams all they do is [ __ ] knock Kate Cunningham. All they do is knock Anthony Edwards. We’re always we always see more and are more critical of our stars when they’re close to us than what what the other guy has. Right? Because that happens when I’m when I go into the Detroit Pistons subreddit during a Suns Pistons game. All they do is knock everything that Kade does. He’s not the guy. he doesn’t have it. Meanwhile, I’m watching the playoffs and Kade Cunningham’s like like this is a a spoiler on the Jammies, which we’ll do, you know, here in a few episodes, but like he’s my new favorite player that’s not a member of the Phoenix Suns. It’s Kade [ __ ] Cunningham. I love watching that guy play, you know. So, again, it’s how close you are to a situation makes you uh more privy to to state whether or not or or it’ll shake your belief more. That’s my observation. Yeah. No, I I totally agree. I do. I mean, it’s we’re gonna be talking about this till the first tip off, man. About We got a long way to go. We got a long way to go. I don’t even know if we need to do the rest of the coaches, do we? We don’t want any of these guys. I don’t want [ __ ] Sweeney. I don’t want Dudley. I said Sweeney because give the Redhead a chance, man. It’ be his first opportunity as a head coach. Look at that guy. Give him a chance. Jason Kid. Jason kid coaching tree. Like, yeah, no. No thank you. And Jared Dudley from under a bridge. I don’t want Jared Dudley either. No. No way. No way. He was Yeah, he he he’s very well respected, but he’s just a guy that annoyed the [ __ ] out of me. And he used to come on the radio a lot. Yes, he did. And the way he talk I just I’m like he’s like he’s trying to sell you something every time. I’m just like I don’t want I don’t want that. He’s like, “Don’t sell me. Don’t sell me, Jared. I’m just I’m just not with it, you know?” Yeah. Uh there’s no one else though outside, right? There’s a couple other names. Uh, PHNX did a big thing today on head coach. I’m like, damn it, they stole my idea. Uh, I was watching that show earlier today. Did they have anybody else on there? They had a bunch of names. I had a ton of names. Uh, I don’t remember any of them. Don, Steve Nash, there I said it. No, Steve Nash already said he’s not going to do it. He’s going to go He’s going to go do Amazon next year. God, thanks for watching the shows, man. We don’t do a ton of these. Watch last week’s Don. Be better than that. I didn’t see in the chat last time, but uh we could talk about how I almost got every pick right except for the [ __ ] Pistons one, dude. Oh, no [ __ ] Playoffs. Yeah, I got all them right except for the Pistons. I If I was just in Knicks, I would have been perfect. I [ __ ] I think I deleted all those overlays, too. I mean, I can download a screenshot of mine. Of course you did. I was like, “Oh, I got them all right.” Almost. Um here, this picture, though. No, but you just got Well, good for you. At least you got the pics right. Here you go. Here’s a picture of Coach Benhoer yelling at somebody. Yeah, that’s about all I got. Well, good job. Good. Good job by you, buddy. That doesn’t mean anything. It’s fine. What else is going on? What else? How are you spending your time? I’m watching [ __ ] documentaries on the Cold War and playing the show. What are you doing? Making [ __ ] breakfast for everyone on Mother’s Day. Yeah. So, should I bring my own? I’m going to bring my own breakfast. I like I’m not a mother. You should pick up some McDonald’s on the Exactly what I was thinking. I’m going to pick up some McDonald’s [ __ ] What time are we doing that? No. Yeah, we’re going to I’m going to make breakfast only because it’s like there’s so many moms and it’s like if we go out to eat, it’s going to be 200 bucks and what are the moms going to pay? So I’m like it’d be like 40 50 bucks from Sam’s and just make our own food. What are you going to get? Uh 10:00. Uh pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs. Now we’re talking. Some muffins. Some muffins. Nice. You need me to bring anything? Just some McDonald’s burritos or anything? Yeah. Can you bring me a couple cuz I don’t know how good it’s going to turn out. you making pancakes. That’s going to be [ __ ] make them like I I can make some pancakes. You You can You can You can flip some some flapjacks. Yeah, I know how to make some pancakes. Okay. Well, we’ll be We’ll be good. I make Should I bring some syrup? Uh, sure. Yeah, Steph has some, but you can bring some. I’m not No, I’m I’m literally just going to bring some McDonald’s burritos cuz it’s it’s it’s uh breakfast only for the mothers. I’ll bring you something because you can’t eat anything either. Well, if you’re if you’re lactating and you come in, then we’ll get I won’t be lactating. No, no, my lactation cycle just ended. So, it’s not it’s not going to hit me this this breakfast for you, man. Dang, dude. I got to bring McDonald’s burritos. I’m going to bring a chorizo egg and cheese burrito. Just eat on the way there. What else? What else you doing? Some other things I’ll tell you later. Okay. Yeah, I can’t say right now. Okay. Oh, I got to tell you. I got a a new Phoenix Sun slid into the DMs today. Who was it? Damen Lee. Oh, really? What did he say? Well, he read my end of your review on him. He read it and then he responded to He did. What? He did. It was good. It was It was like He’s like, “Hey, I understand you got a job to do and you’re going to write stuff, but just so you know, like uh it wasn’t, you know, like I hope that my I hope my career’s not over.” Uh damn, dude. Like that’s the last guy I would ever think to ever. But it was really nice and polite. Like it was so not Devin Booker. He didn’t call you hog [ __ ] or anything. No, he he didn’t call me a clown. He didn’t say that I I should like jump off a [ __ ] cliff. Yeah. You know, he’s just like uh he said it wasn’t because of health uh or my desk my best days being behind me that he didn’t play this year. That’s you know that is tough though. Look at it from their side of things. 100%. Yeah, that must be really well. And like the art the article I wrote cuz you know on Bright Side of the Sun we’re doing our end of year reviews and you know I picked up his uh cuz one of my new writers just didn’t respond. I’m like hey man you writing that just didn’t hear anything on the forehead. Thanks man. Uh so dead and so I wrote it and I’m like and and I said in my my piece I’m like dude I am so high on dating movie because remember the beginning of season I was very very high on D. I’m like this guy’s gonna be the Eric Gordon role. He’s gonna be perfect for it. I’m excited to have him back. Uh then his media day, you know, just a very touching story, a human story about the struggle of trying to come back and it just didn’t work out that way. Uh but he said, “I’m not upset at what you wrote either. I understand everyone has a job to do. It’s just unfortunate how it all panned out, you know.” Yeah. I mean, it’s Did you reply though? It’s unfortunate for everybody this year. Like it wasn’t a good year for I feel like the three reviews I did, I was like, “Well, it was a sucky year, so what could we take from it?” Yeah. I I pretty much said I’m like, “I agree. was disappointing. My assumption is it had something to do with the fractured coaching philosophy, you know, and then I said, you know, like I wouldn’t mind Damian Lee back. Respond to that or no? Yeah, he did. And he said he appreciates what I do and stuff. Like very nice professional and like I’ve talked to Damian Lee before. Uh he’s just he’s such a cool dude. He’s just talking to him at the games. Uh yeah, one time when he when I was walking down the t like back by the media room, he was in street clothes. It was on Bright Side Night two years ago. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, okay. Cool. Yeah. I said, “Hey, Damon, how you doing?” He’s like, “Hey, man. you know, just kind of getting through it, you know, because it was after he got injured and everything. Yeah. Got kind of the high pitched Michael Jackson voice, you know, but just a super good dude. And it’s my reminder to everybody who writes for Bright Side. Uh uh I saw that today. The players [ __ ] read our [ __ ] Yeah. Yeah. King Nacho D worthless. You’re worthless, dude. D is a good human being, man. It’s an unfortunate set of circumstances. And from maybe from a player standpoint, he’s not the best ever, but from a human standpoint, he’s a good dude, you know, like it it’s the same thing with uh uh like Bradley Beal. Like Bradley Beiel is a good dude. It’s just a [ __ ] situation that he’s in. And as a from a player perspective, uh not a fan. Um equipment manager fall founder. I notice Patrick Euing is missing your thumbnail. Uh I would never want Patrick Euing to coach here. That’s kind of Have you ever heard about the Yuing theory? Yeah, theory. Yeah, falling founder. Do you even know about Yuing theory? I know you do. Why would we want to bring that here? No. No, I’m joking, dude. Please. Um, yeah, I know. I I think that um you know, the whole player thing with the TMs, it’s it’s kind of crazy because as much as they reached out to you and stuff, like I wish there would have been more spillage on what’s actually [ __ ] happening in the locker room. You know what I mean? Cuz it’s like, well, this is actually happening. You know what I mean? Like, it’s his fault. like I’m sucking or I’m not playing. You know what I mean? Like there’s nothing like that. We got I felt like I got close a couple times and everybody who I’ve talked to hints at just how fractured the locker room was. Yeah. You know, whether it be certain players or coaching or attitudes, you know. No, not him. I’m just throwing things out there. It’s not him. I’m on a bad booker day, dude. It’s not him. Yeah, you’re just you’re in anti-Booker land. Well, yeah, I am right now. Um, Booker is one thing. Like when I go through my thesis, I’m keeping keeping Booker. Got to keep Booker. All right. Well, yeah. Yeah. As much as you love. Welcome to Koopo. Welcome to Phoenix. Yeah. [ __ ] right, dude. There’s no world where that guy’s coming here. He’s going to be a Laker. Watch. He will be. LeBron’s not going to be in LA, I don’t think, next year. I don’t think so either. Or he’ll That’s right. Yeah. He’s going to take He’ll be like all veteran minimum this [ __ ] Bring me Giannis. Come here, Giannis. God, so [ __ ] stupid. May the seventh be with you, man. Well, should we just sit here in silence? Moment of silence. Yeah, we’ll have a moment of silence for all the farts that I haven’t been able to take since I got married. All the farts. Mhm. Dude, all Nicole and I do fart around each other. We fart on each other now. Wow. Shannon would [ __ ] divorce me if I Shannon would divorce me if I farted. Not honor, just in the same room. Yeah, if I let one go, what the [ __ ] wrong with you? Science. We made a rule not to fart on each other, but just happens once in a while on accident. So, go home and love your farts, right? Yeah, go love your farts. 1. On the assumption that KD and Beal are gone I have two predictions for next season. Booker is going to be an allstar, and new coach will be seen as succesful. Booker as a leader of a less talented team will bounce back offensively. And the team will be bad so if they make play in, the coach will be praised for actually improving the team despite KD being gone. Both things are a bit of fools gold cause there is 0 guarantee that they will translate into further success. But Im quite sure that will happen and that they will be the source of excitement for us at least a little bit.

  2. I defs agree with the conversation about what was the problem las season, a point guard, so this season that get a point guard which achieved nothing. And I think the same thing is happening again with this identity and alignment movement. The front office from Ishbia down is being to reactive and not proactive.

  3. Maybe what we could do is hire chris quinn , pay a little extra to also bring in jared dudley as well.

Focus on getting an unprotected first round pick from dallas, san antonio or miami in 2026 in a durant trade and then add fillers.

Don't really trust houston, okc or even memphis in a trade. Unless we get cason wallace, g.g. jackson or a combination of young players from Houston.

Then draft a real power forward and center.

Ishbia has the money to get both quinn and another assistant for offense.

Two centers i like in the draft are hansen yang and rocco zikarsky.

Two power forwards i like are maxime raynaud and danny wolf.

    Twin towers for next season.
