Chicago Bulls Draft Targets For 2025 NBA Draft Ft. Khaman Maluach & Derik Queen
[Music] What’s going on everybody? Welcome into the Bulls Report. My name is Patrick Seatman. Coming up on today’s show, we got a fun one for you guys. We’re going to be diving into five draft targets for the Chicago Bulls. With the draft lottery coming up on Monday, I want to start shifting our attention here on the channel to the 2025 NBA draft. But let’s just first off look at the odds here to get the number one overall pick. And it’s not looking good for the Bulls. Only 1.7% chance to go land Cooper flag. But I will remind everybody this is the same exact chance the Bulls had when they got Derek Rose. So hey, if the NBA wants to rig the lottery, send Cooper flag to Chicago, I’d be all in. But, you know, diving in deeper here to the odds. So, it’s 1.7% uh for the number one pick, 1.9 for the second overall pick, 2.1 for three, and 2.4 um to get the fourth overall selection. So, also they are probably going to end up with the 12th overall pick, 85.2% chance to land that selection. You do have a chance to fall down to 13 at 6.6% and then you just have a uh uh 1% chance to get the 14th overall pick. But also, with this draft coming up, there’s a ton of moving pieces. So, specifically, um, Eastern Conference rival Philadelphia 76ers, their pick is top six protected, and if it does not land in that, um, one through six, and if it’s seven to uh, 7 through nine, it will go to the Oklahoma City Thunder, which would be nuts. And then also the Houston Rockets. They’re um, getting the Phoenix Suns lottery pick. And then if the Kings, if they pick lands 13 to 14, which it probably will, it will go to the Hawks. And then also the Spurs, they got two chances at the number one pick as they have the Atlanta Hawks um lottery pick as well. But before we dive into the five here, who do you guys want the Bulls to draft? Do you guys have a college prospect? Maybe he’s an international guy. Um you guys let me know your thoughts down below in the comments section. I I’ll go through five here in a second, but first you guys let me know who do you want the Bulls to draft. So I want to get this point out quickly before we dive into my five draft prospects. And I will say um these are going to be realistic draft prospects. So, it’s not like the VJ Edgecombs, you know, the Dylan Harpers, the Ace Bailey’s. I’m going to try to find some guys in that to like 8 to 15 range. But, I do think the Bulls should address this draft going BPA. Even though I understand center is a massive position of need for the Bulls. But, whoever you have at the top of your big board, when your pick rolls around, whether that’s 12, 8, 13, 14, whatever it may be, you take the best player on the board because the Bulls are in no position to be drafting for position of need. you just need to get better basketball players on this roster. But funny enough, there are some centers out there and we’ll dive into, you know, the star of March Madness, at least one of them from Maryland, Derek Queen. Um, I’m a massive fan of this guy’s game. He’s an extremely extremely skilled big man. And he had that game winner in March Madness, driving to his left off his back foot, banked it off the glass, and you know, he is a fun basketball player to watch. I will give him credit. He kind of reminds me of like a Alprince Sangon type of big. Maybe he doesn’t have the back to the basket game just yet, but in terms of a guy who can operate top of the key, pretty damn good passer, Derek Queen is just that. And you know, averaged 16 and a half points per game this past season, nine boards, 1.9 assist. Now, I would expect at the NBA level, him to take that number of assists per game and up it to about three, four or five. Like, he’s that skilled as a passer. And, you know, when I’m going out there and I’m, you know, looking at some Derek Queen tape, these are some of my takeaways. So, he’s a great screen setter, um, which is huge in the modern day game. Everybody loves running that high pick and roll, and he’s great at that. And he’s also extremely skilled. Like, you know, let’s just say he was setting a screen for a guy, ball, uh, handler got blitzed, and he’s playing four on three, working down. He’s great at making the decision. It kind of speaks to him being a great passer, but he’s got also extremely skilled handle in his game. Um, and he is a physical style of play to him. like if he gets you on the low block, he will give you that bump and he will just kind of assert his dominance in the paint. One negative about him being a center, he’s not a great rim protector, but I will say he is better than a guy like Nicole Vuvich is, but that’s not his, you know, bread and butter of his game. And honestly, if I had to pick one guy that’s not Cooper Flag, not like Ace Bailey, Dylan Harper, one of these guys, um I think Derek Queen’s my dream Bulls draft target. So even the Bulls just getting into the top 10, giving themselves a better chance to land Queen, I think would be massive. But, you know, if he somehow falls to pick number 12, that should be an auto pick for the Bulls. I doubt he does. But Dererick Wayne, number one by far for me on my dream draft target list. But another guy I would be thrilled about. And honestly, these guys are probably on the same tier for me, but they’re completely different style of players. Common Malawatch from Duke. Um, the 7 foot2 center rim protector. You know, he can obviously be an extremely good lob threat as well. And the thing also I love most about um just him as a prospect, he’s a good free throw shooter. I mean, he shot 76.6% from the line for the Blue Devils this past season, averaging 8.6 points per game, 6.6 rebounds, averaging 1.3 blocks per game in about just 25 minutes or so a night for Duke. But I love the fact that he’s a very, very good free throw shooter. Um, and even if you guys are watching like the, you know, Nick Celtics series right now, you’re seeing like the hack of Mitchell Robinson thing. Um, but that wouldn’t be the case for uh Malwatch. Now, he is a great defender. Like, he’s just got naturally insane size to him. Like 7 foot2, if you guys were watching Duke at all this past season, he is just huge. Like, you feel him out there on the court. And he’s also a great lob threat as well. And I do think having a guy like Josh Giddy where if he’s coming off that pick and roll and he’s got three decisions to make where it’s like, all right, I’m going to get to that push shot. I’m going to kick it out to the corner or I’m throwing it back over the top to a guy like him. I think that’s an aspect of his game that would be huge for this Bulls young team, but mainly just the defensive ability um that he has. I think if you would have a combination of Bzelis and Malwatch, it would be one of the best, you know, young defensive one-two punches in the league where you would have Bzelis being able to be that wing who can switch on the guards. You know, obviously you can’t bang down low with a lot of these uh, you know, you know, bigger centers obviously, but you would have Malwatch down there as that elite rim protector. I think that would give the Bulls a foundation for this defense. But another guy I was diving into actually today mainly Colin Murray Boils. This guy is a very, very intriguing, very intriguing prospect. Um, he’s got a lot of physicality to him. I mean, you guys can already kind of see it in the picture up on screen. He’s a bigger guy. He’s a thicker player, and he really was the focal point for South Carolina this past season. They ran the offense through him. He was getting a lot of touches, you know, face up moves, um, right outside the lane, but averaging almost 17 points a game, 8.3 rebounds, 2.4 assist. Um, but he is a defensive machine. Um, almost averaging three stocks per game, 1.3 blocks, 1.5 steals. Um, but if I had to kind of give a comparison for him, like I see a little Julius Randall in his game. He is a lefty as well. And that’s why like when I’m scouting him like the chaotic offensive game that he has. It is very similar with Randall where it’s like he’s kind of a bull in a china ch bull in a china shop just a little bit. Um where it doesn’t really look like he has a plan on every single play but he’s just using his physicality to create space and he is a very strong defender. Like when guys are trying to drive on him he has that chest that will kind of just stonewall these guys and he’s physical on both sides. Like offensively you’re feeling them. Defensively you’re feeling them. And if you guys are watching the NBA playoffs, clearly the NBA is letting these teams play a whole lot more. And I think having like these physical players is kind of where the NBA is starting to head like these big body guys. Now, he does have a shaky handle, shaky shot. Maybe that’s something he can develop, you know, with an NBA training staff and all that. But he does have potential as a playmaker. I do want to make that point here. Like if he’s working out of that low block and let’s just say he is, you know, such a force offensively that teams got to start double teaming him. I think he will be able to make the right reads, pass out of that, keep the ball um swinging around the top of the key though. But he is a guy where I think it would be a little rich if the Bulls took him at 12. But I think people would freak out and be like, “Oh man, why are we drafting this guy?” You know, 6’7, 6’8 big. But he is a very intriguing prospect and I think his game would translate very well to the NBA level. But speaking about the draft lottery, we are going to be going live on Monday, probably about 15 30 minutes before. So make sure you guys are subscribed, tune in then. and it’s going to be a ton of fun and I just can’t imagine how we would all react if the Bulls somehow flew up and landed the number one overall pick at being Cooper flag. So, if you guys want to join us then hit that subscribe button and also click that notification bell as well so you get notified when we go live. But let’s wrap it up here talking about these two guys and we can talk about Igor Demen here. Um BYU freshman um 6 foot9 combo guard. Um, I’ve kind of already spoiled my scouter report for him, but he reminds me a lot of Josh Giddy. Um, obviously a little different. I think he’s got a smoother jump shot than Giddy did um at this point in their careers, but you know, averaged 10.6 points per game on a good BYU team as well. 5.5 assists, 3.9 boards, 1.2 steals per game, and also was pretty efficient from the field as well. And listen, he is very similar to Josh Giddy, like I was saying. Now, he was an inconsistent shooter. shot only 27% from downtown. But his calling card is his playmaking and his vision and also it kind of ties into his size where he can see over the defense. He can see where the help side is going and he’ll make the right read over and over again. But in terms of drafting him, even if the Bulls, and this is my only exception to the rule I made about going BPA, he is the only guy where even if he is the best player on your board, I’d probably advise the Bulls to go a different direction just because he is so similar to Josh Giddy. They wouldn’t be able to play on the floor at the same time. So, I would rather go a different direction. And a player that could be, if you’re looking at another guard here, how about son of Jason Richardson? Jace Richardson. Um, this guy’s very intriguing prospect as well. Um, true freshman this past year at Michigan State. Uh, very physical guard. He is a lefty. Um, I was going to use the Jaylen Brunson comparison, but that’d be a little dis disrespectful to JB, especially what he’s been doing in the playoffs. But he’s got a super smooth jump shot, averaged 12 points a game this past season for Michigan State and also very good Michigan State team as well, which is something I value is when you have these guys who are on like legit teams and he’s a legit part of an offense and, you know, he’s asked to do stuff on both sides of the floor to help the team win. I value that a lot more when I’m looking at these guys. But when I was scouting him, he’s got a very smooth jump shot. Um, it’s just smooth, all one motion. It’s gonna be very repeatable. Probably be a very good shooter at the next level. But this is probably my favorite part of him. He’s a great cutter. Like one of his teammates will be driving, he’ll either cut back door, kind of find that lane lane, a little Josh Hartesque in his uh, you know, way he plays offensively, but he also does play within the offense, which I love. Very active defender, getting hands in passing lanes. Big deflection guy, and he’s also got a solid handle as well. I don’t know who his pro conference would be. It’s a 6’3 guard, but he’s an extremely skilled guy. And understand, we wouldn’t love drafting another guard. But, uh, I think if he’s on the board and he’s your best player available, you just kind of close your eyes and take him and you figure it out from there. But, hey, we will be going live for the lottery like I was saying. And if you guys will be there, hit me with a me down below in the comments section and we’ll see you guys next time. As always, go Bulls. [Music]

1) Maluach 2) Queen 3) CMB 4) Newell 5) Bryant. If we get any of those first 4, we trade Vuc for Kuminga
Giddey/Coby/Kuminga/Buzelis/Maluach
Ask Giddy who can catch the ball in the paint first, leaping and blocking are a key also
Johni Broome – Auburn. Double double machine, top rebounder, helped Auburn tremendously

No more guards. Defensive bigs all day! We need size, tough defense, and rim protection sooo badly.
You're way higher on Egor than most, he fell down most mocks into the 20's. That doesn't matter to me, just unexpected. Replace Egor with Thomas Sorber and we have the same 5. With the second round pick: Rocco Zikarsky, Amari Williams, Mouhamed Faye, Dink Pate, Boogie Fland
Thomas Sorber out of Georgetown, although I was in love with the highlights, I need to go watch a Georgetown game
Jase Richardson, is a good comp Donovan Mitchell with Josh Hart defense, I haven't watched him yet so I could be wrong about him,
Maluach, CMB or Demin
