Picking him to outplay Nicole Joic and eliminate the Nuggets in a game seven on the road wasn’t even fair. This team has Kawhai, Norman Powell, and Zubac as scoring options. Harden obviously could have been a lot better in this game, but no one should have expected 35-year-old Harden to carry the Clippers to a win. What happened in game five should have been the blueprint for what to expect in this game. Nuggets at home, role players step up, Nuggets win, and the Nuggets really just blew game six. They missed wideopen layups, had baffling turnovers, they missed free throws. So, this assumption that the Clippers were just going to take game seven on the road, no problem, is a little surprising. What really hurt the Clippers in this series, I think it’s the defining moment, was storming all the way back in game four just to lose to an Aaron Gordon putback dunk. That’s rough, buddy. The Clippers had all the momentum. If that game goes to overtime, they likely win and take the series. But since the Nuggets stole that game, they were able to take back home court, have big games at home, but more importantly, they were allowed to have an off night on the road. That put back changes the entire series. As great as the playoffs have been so far, this was easily the best series in the first round. But more importantly, he’s just so efficient. 50% from the field and 45% from three-point range. At times, he wasn’t himself offensively. He had moments where he could have been better, but right next to Kawhi Leonard, Nicole Joic was the most consistent player in this series. The Clippers were a more well-rounded team. They had more depth, and there’s not one player in the NBA right now that impacts their team success more than Nicole Joic.
