I always thought they settled with the 3pts shots during the regular season as a way to go through the season easily without injuries etc… but no, that's their offense 😀

To be fair, Knicks were forced to do crazy runs in both ends. So BOS gameplan was good enough until half of 3rd quarter. They should be more creative on Offense, go for easy layups. And instead of settling for stepbacks, and force the contact to generate FTs. Also Thibs like short rotations, so you should get his guys in foul troubles.
Also, terrible start of teh series reminds me 2023 blunder against Heat.

So is the difference between having a counter move and not having a counter move them making shots? Because that's what I saw on this video. Tatum and Brown created plenty of space on thier step backs when they got cut off. They just missed.

A simple offense might work decently well in regular season, but the predictability and the lack of flexibility is probably bad in a long series where the opposite have time to gradually test out what defensive scheme work, and adapt accordingly. In regular season, the opponent with limited attention, can only watch film for a day to guess what defensive scheme might work. In playoff, the opposite get to test it out in many games, and have days to watch films and create a plan.
For this reason, I think good team should test out many different offensive schemes even if some seem to be suboptimal, instead of only working on the current most optimal scheme without the flexibility against defense adapation.
So watching this video with the sound off, the problem with the Celtics is they're just playing dumb more than anything else. Attack Jalen Brunson and don't be afraid to accept the help that's gonna come. Thats what that mismatch is for. Too many times JT and JB are settling for outside shots, especially Tatum. He needs to start playing like his Pops smokes a pack of Newports everyday.
I swear last season was all the talk of Tatum bulking up and playing more aggressive in the paint, I wonder what the comparison is between last year and this one for shot selection, cause it seems like he is reverting back to his first 3 years in the league settling for long 2's no matter who the defender is. And Jaylen….still the same player as he was 2 years ago. Though, tbh, all this talk would not be happening if Porzingis is even 60% healthy.

I think you're over-reacting just because they lost. If they made the same exact same plays but the shots had went in, you wouldn't have said the boston celtics offense is a disaster. They played like this the whole regular season and it worked, let's see how it goes after game 2

The Celtics just play disgusting basketball but they won their mickey mouse ring last year so they doubled down even more. They would never have gotten close to the finals if the other teams didn't have their star players injured. The refs are still helping boston like crazy so they still have a chance against the knicks, but at least that corrupt ref Eric Lewis isn't around anymore – he was the absolute worst
