Would you rather have Steph Curry or Anthony Edwards? PREVIEW of Warriors vs. Wolves πŸ‘€ | First Take

The Warriors face off against the Ant-Man and the Wolves for game one of the Western Conference semi-finals tonight in a regular season. Golden State took the series 3-1 versus Minnesota. And that was before the addition of Jimmy Butler, by the way. However, the Wolves have a king slayer. And going back two years ago, this has been a matchup Anthony Edwards has been waiting for. What are you looking forward to most of this upcoming season? Definitely going back to the playoffs and going further in the playoffs to go verse uh the war. I want to play the Warriors. I want to get to the Warriors. Wherever they at, I want to get to them. Got you. Got you. Why the Warriors so much? I mean, cuz Draymond talks so much trash. That’s pretty much the only reason. Perk, I know that was two years ago, but what’s your reaction to Ant-Man saying this about Draymond? I love it. I love it. I love it. I love I love that Anthony Edwards, you know, he’s he’s on a mission and he wants to play the best. He wants to play the greatest. Like, he want to compete. He ain’t ducking no smoke. And this is why I’m riding with this man. No matter who you put on the floor with him, you better believe he’s coming to hoop and he’s coming to win at a high level. He’s gotten better this year at his game. We see his three-point shooting went up. We see his playmaking, his decision making has went up, his leadership all across the board. We got to remember Julius Randall missed some significant time this season. Anthony Edwards kept this team relevant. Anthony Edwards give a give guys life confidence. Anthony Edwards is that dude. He’s every former player favorite player. Period. Wendy, your thoughts. Um, this is one of those series that you that could potentially be remembered for years. I mean, I don’t know. We’ll see. But Steph and Ant in the same series, I mean I mean I mean, you know, I got to really see them interact with each other over the summer with Team USA. And to watch how Ant would trash talk guys, dunk on guys in practice, um try to show them up in scrimmages, and then absolutely try to soak up everything they could get from him like a sponge. It was great to see. I mean, he powled around with K Durant like he was his little brother. He would want to go with Steph Curry and at the same time want to talk to Steph Curry about shooting. I mean, that’s one of the reasons he’s such a refreshing guy is that he can be a competitor and also be respectful and also entertain us at the same time. And that’s what I’m expecting in this series. And Steph is doing the exact same thing. Steph Curry is playing some of the best. He’s not in his prime, but he is playing some of the best allaround basketball he’s ever played. He’s been awesome, and I’m looking forward to this so much. So, so, so am I. So is the rest of us. Anybody that loves basketball is looking forward to this. And Ant-Man is a pre-minent face in the game. There is no denying that, Wendy. However, speaking specifically about this upcoming series. Who would you rather have? Courier Edwards. This is put me in a tough spot, which is what we do on this show. Yeah. I There’s only like five or six guys in the history of the sport. I’m taking over Curry. Okay, I’ll take Curry. But that’s that. But you know that Ant is a special player. Yes, Perk. I’m going with Anthony Elvis. Anthony Elvis is on a mission to get all the old heads out the way and he’s chopping them down one by one. And Wendy, I’m glad you brought up the Olympics because let me let me let me say this. This is this is how much respect not only do the oldheads and I’m talking about LeBron, KD, and Steph, but even a guy like Steve Cerr has for Anthony Edwards. Stephen A, put us back on the screen. Damn it. I’ve been on first take long enough. I don’t want to see the highlights. I want to see y’all too when I’m talking. Stephen A, let me ask you a question. We talk about this all the time. The disrespect and when he get mad. He getting his feelings about it cuz you know we keep bringing it up. Steve Kerr and the Jason Tatum situation in the Olympics. Jason Tatum was a champion. It was no doubt in nobody mind that Steve Curry was gonna do that to Anthony Edwards. Damn it. when it came down to Anthony Edwards being in the rotation, damn it, he saw his minutes. This is I’m This is what I’m trying to say is the level of respect that this man has around the league from his peers and others like the coaches, elite coaches around the league. Well, well, well, you know, whether it’s trash talking or whatever it is, you know, he complements it with his game and everything that he does on the basketball court benefits the game. When you see Ant-Man going at somebody, it’s benefiting the game. when he’s going at KD, when he’s going at Devin Booker, when he’s going at Jamal Murray and Yo and Joic, and then when he went at LeBron and and Luca, and when he shoved LeBron playfully, obviously, and all of that other stuff, you know, he’s feeding the game. And that’s what stars usually do. It’s not just about what you do on the court statistically. It’s not just about your performance, but the bravado, the machismo, or whatever word that you want to use that you add to the equation, that source that you add to it all, it elevates the profile of the game. He’s the future. He’s what the NBA needs. and the NB and the fact that he’s winning right now is what we’ve got to gravitate to because the more he wins, the easier it’s going to be and the more seamless it’s going to be transitioning from LeBron and Steph to the new era of these young cats and he’s going to be the leader in that regard. Once again, got to cut y’all off. Got to have the last word. Why? Cuz I got to pay bills because that’s what we do. That’s what we do. If the Cavaliers, Welcome back to First Take, the Cleveland Cavaliers are looking pretty banged up and look to avoid a two- hole tonight versus the Indiana Pacers. In a game one loss, Donovan Mitchell finished the night with 33 while Darius Garland was sidelined for the third straight playoff game due to a sprained left big toe. Perk, does Donovan Mitchell need to be the best player in game two for the Cavs to win? perk. He doesn’t need He needs He needs to be great. Go ahead. I’m sorry. I thought you said he needs to be great, but he doesn’t need to dominate the ball because we’ve seen in the in the his playoff history that when he takes super high volume shots, it doesn’t always benefit his team, which is what happened in game one. Yeah, he scored 33, he took 30 shots. When he takes 30 or more shots in the playoffs, his teams, dating back to the Jazz, are one in five. and he hoisted up a whole bunch of threes. The Cavs are facing a daunting challenge tonight. They just had their shoot around and none of those three players were at. It doesn’t mean they’re out, but it’s not a good sign when they’re not at that shoot around. And so, they’re facing playing a very, very important game without three of their five or six best players. So, you know that the remaining three or four of their best players take on a bigger role. And that includes Donovan Mitchell Perk. The Pac the Pacers win in this series and I wouldn’t be surprised if they win it in five. Period. They just a matchup problem and we forget this Pacer team went to the Eastern Conference Finals last year. Reason I bring that up is because all the guys that are in their rotation have playoff experience at a high level. They defend at a high level. They get into you. They make you uncomfortable. They pick you up 94 feet. Aaron Nissid, Nimhard, TJ McConnell. All of those guys are feisty defenders. Even uh uh the young man Ben. And then you have Miles Turner who has been playing some outstanding basketball. Big that can stretch the floor, mixing it up, live threat at the basket, rim protector. And I can’t sing enough praises of the leadership of Tyrese Hallebertton setting the table, picking and choosing his spots of when to attack and when to get others involved. Pascal Seakum has definitely been a problem this postseason. I have the Pacers winning this s they’re going to win this series and I would be surprised if Cleveland only get one game. I don’t blame you one bit based off of what I’m seeing from the Pacers in terms of Hallebertton who’s leading everybody in the postseason assisted 11.8. 8 per game. I got to give him a lot of love. Nem hard. This brother shows up. Doesn’t shoot that well in the regular season around 29% from three-point range or whatever. But in the postseason, this brother gets it done. I got to give him a lot of props. How about Miles Turner? This is a guy somebody didn’t want two, three years ago. Look at the way that he plays. Look at what he brings to the table as well. And of course, they’re exceptionally well coached by a champion in Rick Carile as a coach as well. Cleveland with their injuries, they concern me. Moy getting injured obviously you know Jared Allen getting injured uh Garland being down I think he needs to play but I got to tell you I think that they are definitely in a tough tough spot right now. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Indiana wins tonight and ends up winning the series. Donovan Mitchell can be that dude, but he can’t be shooting 30 shots a game in order to do it. He’s got to get others involved and find a way to be more efficient. We know what a star he is, but he’s going to need some help. But he’s going to have to be receptive to receiving that help instead of trying to play hero ball because that’s not going to get it done against Indiana. That’s where I’m at. Give me the heat. Come on. [Applause]
