Spurs Looking To Go All In Short Term

Spurs Looking To Go All In Short Term

What’s going on everyone? So, according to Jeremy Woo of ESPN, San Antonio Spurs may look at short-term deals this upcoming off season uh just to try to get to the playoffs uh for Victor Wmanyama, right? That they aren’t necessarily looking for just, you know, hey, we only want, you know, deals or moves or things that are for the NE like they, you know, Kevin Durant, something like that. But to get into exactly what was said was the San Antonio Spurs are looking to kickstart the rebuilding efforts around Victor Womenyama for next season. Per ESPN’s Jeremy Woo, the Spurs are expected to look at all avenues to improve their roster this summer with the goal of making the playoffs in 2025 and 2026. So again, they want to put Victor Womenyama in a position to contend and, you know, make the playoffs and whatnot, right? incremental growth. So, it’s not just about moves that, you know, yes, obviously you want to do stuff long term, but like I said a thousand times in these videos, the moment they traded for De’Aran Fox, their timeline changed. The moment you go and trade for De’Aran Fox, you’re not waiting five, six, seven, eight years. But what this does mean is that the Spurs again are more likely than not going to look at plays such as a Kevin Durant or whatever. Yes, Kevin Durant doesn’t make sense for the next five to seven years, but he makes sense for the next, you know, two or three years, right? Alongside Victor Wimyama and De’aran Fox, right? And give the Spurs an opportunity to make the playoffs and maybe even contend if you get the right pieces around those three. And especially why Wimi is so cheap right now, right? You can make these sort of minor trades, these minor moves, or, you know, maybe get a couple veterans or, you know, you don’t want to overpay for anybody. You don’t want to you want to find the opportunistic moves, right? You don’t want to get too carried away, but Wimby being so cheap the next few years. 13 million this year, 16 million the next. You you want to put yourself in a position to where you can kind of gamble a little more than you would be these next few years, right? Before Whimby starts making money. And even once he does start making money, he’s not going to be making the the insane, you know, 60 70 million a year, right? Like you got to you got the incremental goals, right? So, he’s going to get the the rookie extension and whatnot and that will probably be, you know, whatever 30 to 40 million. Um, but point is is that like if you’re the Spurs, you have some wiggle room, you have some flexibility uh this next year or so. So, if you can, you know, get into the postseason, gain that experience, get help Wimi kind of get some growth and some maturity, you know, and some playoff basketball under his belt and experience that and see what that’s all about, right? You got, you know, a De’Arren Fox who again, he’s not 23, he’s 27, right? So, you you want to put him in a position where he’s content, he’s happy, and he’s not trying to leave or anything like that, right? Like the Spurs, it it’s go time in many ways, right? Again, you don’t want to do anything that’s going to set you back. You don’t want to make any foolishness, right? But like the report said, you know, Spurs are expected to explore all avenues. You should explore like you should leave no stone unturned. every potential possibility should be at least thought about, explored. You don’t have to do everything. You don’t have to, you know, if uh if you whatever, you don’t have to go trade for a Kevin Durant if that doesn’t work out or that doesn’t make sense anymore or you don’t have to go make this move or that move or know, but you’re seeing a lot of like, you know, hey, Spurs greatly want to pair Giannis with, you know, Wimi, right? Spurs are in on Kevin Durant, right? Like you’re hearing all these reports about, you know, these stars that usually you don’t really hear the Spurs in the mix of, right? Like usually it’s it’s the normal teams that you think, you know, it’s the Lakers, the the Knicks, the Warriors, right? It’s like the same handful of teams you hear recycled over and over and over again about who’s going to end up being a part, right? But now you’re starting to hear about the the Kevin Durant, the Giannis, right? If another star becomes, even this past offseason, you heard about Trey Young and Darius Garland and all these guys, right? Darren Fox, and then lo and behold, fast forward, all of a sudden, Darren Fox is a Spur, right? So, you know, the the Spurs are making moves and doing things that, you know, that, you know, they wouldn’t have done 10 years ago, right? But how long can you kind of be in this purgatory? Wimy’s gotten so good so fast. You went and got an all-star caliber point guard, right? Like you’re if you don’t make the playoffs this year, that’s eight years, right? If I’m not mistaken, that’ll be eight years that you haven’t made the playoffs, right? I think this was the seventh year that they haven’t made the playoffs. And that and you have the play in too now. So it’s not even like the playoffs in the traditional sense anymore. is the playoffs in the sense of like you know like hey you just got to be one of the 10 not you know not the one of the worst three teams in basketball right like and they haven’t been able to do that now you have Victor women and Fox you need to make the moves you need to make some changes you need to put yourself in a position no Brian Wright and Greg Papovic now in the in the president role and whatnot right like now you have to you got to start looking to to make some splashes here right I I and I don’t want to see the Spurs make moves just to make moves. You never want to make a trade just to make a trade, right? You can always set yourself back, right? You can always, you know, make the playoffs or something like that or, you know, you could always end up making a mistake like the the Phoenix Suns did, right? Where, you know, it’s not so much about the three stars. You know, a lot of people think like, oh, three stars can’t work. Yes, of course it can. It’s proven time and time again, right? But the stars have to fit. It has to make sense, right? Like you look at Phoenix, it doesn’t work. They’re all three guys are the same player just at different levels, right? Two of which are literally the same player and can only play the same position. Neither is big enough to play the three and neither is skilled enough as a playmaker to play the point, right? So it never was going to work. It was never going to make sense. you know, over on Azistan Sports, the moment the trade happened, I was at the moment that the Suns traded for Bradley Beal, I immediately was like, they just blew any chance they have of ever winning a championship. And I got a lot of push back, a lot of heat for that. Like, oh, you don’t know Paul, you know that. Well, one of us was right. Right. Spurs didn’t even make the play. Like, again, it’s because it’s just it’s more there’s more to the game of basketball than just throwing names on the back of the jerseys. But that doesn’t mean that at times that won’t work. It’s just the pieces have to fit. You know, like a De’Aran Fox, a Kevin Durant, and a and a Victor Womenyama. That fits, that works. Kevin Durant doesn’t need the ball in his hands. Yes, he’s great with the ball in his hands, but he doesn’t necessarily need it. One of the best plugandplay guys in all of basketball. So, De’Arren Fox can be De’arren Fox. Victor Womenyama can be Victor Wimyama. And Kevin Durant’s not going to take away from what those two want to do, right? If you if you were to go and get, you know, uh high usage, like if you went and tried to pair Trey Young with the Aaron Fox and Victor Women, then yeah, now I think you’re terrible. Now, now I think you’re you’re a Phoenix Suns team, right? But you got to make the right choice, the right decisions, the right moves, right? This team needs veteran leadership in my opinion because they’re a young team. You need athleticism, two-way guys, defense. You need all of those things. You need a lot. You have your two stars, right? You have Stefon Castle, who’s the rising budding guy, right? Now, you know, if a Giannis trade comes along, then you’re probably going to have to give up Castle. But outside of that, you’re not trading him, right? Like even a Kevin Durant trade, I wouldn’t trade Castle. So, you know, the the Spurs are they’re gonna have their work cut out for him this off seasonason. You got to make some moves. You know, I expect them to be very active, very busy, very, you know, aggressive in some of these key areas. But again, you cannot make you have to make the right choice. You have to make the right decisions. I understand you want to put Victor Wimyam in the position to be in the postseason and in the playoffs. We all do, right? What does he look like in the postseason? I’d love to see, but you also don’t want to put yourself in a position to where it’s like, okay, yeah, we’re in the postseason for the next next season, but you know, it ends up sabotaging the next five years, you know, and ruins any chance of you being a contender or anything like that. It has to be the right moves. You have to find the opportunistic trades, the opportunistic moves for agency signings, all of that. You got to reshape and revamp this roster in a lot of ways. But again, explore every avenue. They’re spot on. Explore every avenue. Every stone should not go unturned. Every stone you should be turning over and seeing like, okay, what what about this? What about this potential? Because you never know what move might you might make. You know, you get the De’arren Fox trade and you give up nothing really. I mean, you got him for pennies on the dollar really, right? If you can find another move like that or two, right? Those are the kind of things. But anyway, as always, this is a discussion. I pass question on you. Let me know your thoughts and opinions down in the comments below. What do you think? I feel what it thoughts. Do you agree with me? Disagree with me? The San Antonio Spurs are expected to explore all options and could look to go all in on the short term in order to build around Victor Wembanyama. Spurs have been linked to several stars and could really rush the process.

  1. KD will be the perfect fit, he got the size which we are desperately lacking, and he got the 3pt done, make his own shots, but of course he s old and there is some injury history, but if we get him from cheap I will def trade for him if it's like 2 young player (not named castle, sochan, wemby) + like 2 frp or maybe 2frp and 1/2 swaps because this prob the only time we can afford 3 max guy coz the other one is still in his rookie contract, you got castle too and hopefully a good piece from this year draft! wont get this level of flexibility once wemby sign an extension

  2. Naz reid, jjj, derrick white, giannis, and cam johnson, are just some guys the spurs should be looking into.

Also dont trade fox, wemby, or castle under any conditions, use other pieces to make it work if teams are set on castle.

  3. I don’t see the Spurs getting Giannis in the Bucks firesale. But I’d like to see the Spurs get Bobby Portis in a sign and trade that involves trading Vassell. Portis can either start at the 4 and backup Wemby or backup and play a bunch of minutes. Either way he’s a proven shooter.

  4. Pop has been losing for years now. He obviously is not so much of a GOAT when he has average players. And now he has become the Jerry Jones of the NBA. That is, naming an inept coach that he can manipulate and make him (Pop) look good. We all had a style sampling of six months of G-League Mitch "coaching" to conclude that being a head coach is out of his depth.

  5. To coverup the ineptness of their new head coach the Spurs will need either Giannis, KD, or some other star stud. Is the front office willing to mortgage the future to hide G-League Mitch's "coaching" when they could have hired a Monty Williams, Mike Malone or Taylor Jenkins?
