NBA LIVE! Golden State Warriors vs Minnesota Timberwolves | May 11, 2025 | Game 3 NBA Playoffs Live

Heat. Heat. Doris, how about teams like these who can really run their offense through their bigs? BA over the years, one of the things I’ve heard from coaches quite often is how effective a threetool big man can be. When you can drive it, pass it, shoot it, score it, do all the things they can, it changes the geometry of the floor. Connley passes to Randall. Shot clock at six. The three and it’s out of bounds to Minnesota and David West in the house. Take it in the game. You know, Wes won a pair of rings with the franchise. I’m sure Warrior fans are happy to see him here in the building. It’s stolen away. And the Warriors pushing it up now. The three from Curry knocks down the long K. You cannot give Curry an inch. This guy is relentless when he’s behind the arc. Conway passes to Randle. Back to Connley outside McDaniels. Yes, great play by Connelly to set it up. That’s how you up the ante. Come right back at him. And you would expect nothing less from these two. Taking pride and making plays. Now here’s Curry. Pass to Pajimsky on the wing. Green defended by Goar. Shot clock at five. Outside Curry. Let’s go with a three. McDaniels with the rebound. Minnesota has gone one of two from three-point land so far. Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him coming. It’s going to go on Moses Moody. Doris, you look at the tools McDaniels has on defense. He can be Sylvester. He can. There’s incredible length, the reach, the strength. McDaniel is very much able to be a shut down defender against the best offensive players in the game. That free throw no good. And it really feels like the chemistry of this Timberwolves team has taken a step forward. And BA, you know this, winning always enhances that energy and chemistry. But beyond that, this is a roster full of players that have had individual success and now they’re hungry and thirsty for team success because that’s the true measure. He sings the second first quarter of play with about a minute and a half gone by outside. Butler back to Curry. There’s the triple. Curry with another miss. And he probably thought he was going to bury that. A moment to hear from Ally Leforce. Head coach Steve and I got a chance to talk for a bit. I asked him about Randall and why he’s so hard to stop. Coach said it’s the ball handling, the spin moves, and the ability to finish against link. They want to try to force him right and take him out of his rhythm. Something many teams have tried but few have accomplished, guys. All right, Ally, thanks once again. At the line for the dogs, two shots. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. The first free throw is good. And he can’t hit the second. That will sting a little bit. Failing to get the lead when the opportunity was there, but he does tie it up. Go up top. Pass to Edwards and it’s out of bounds. Last touch by Moody. A great read to get a hand in there and disrupt the play. And offensively, a little bit of a careless toss. You could have used a better angle on that pass. Clock at two. Goes up off the inbound and Connley gets it to go. The assist by Gobear. They can see Mike Connley in innate sense for where that shot clock is. And I’ve got to make a shot. No problem. Left side Butler. Back to Curry and it’s good. Fought through contact. Hit the shot and will go to the line. And this is his first trip to the line tonight. Devincenzone. He’s checked in for Mike Connley. Mike Conley. Second personal bus shot. Second team foul at the line for the Warriors. Stephen Curry shooting one and that one falls for Curry. And a little over two and a half minutes gone here in the first and Chris Bench calls timeout here. We might see him looking to make some tweaks to the strategy here. It’s your friend Zoom and welcome out your warrior team. Heat up Heat. Heat. Here’s Edwards. One of the most physical guards in the NBA, Anthony Edwards. If you want to talk about prototypical NBA body, it’s Anthony Edwards. He’s got size, strength, athleticism, but beyond that, he’s so skilled, threele, versatile on the defensive end, fearless when it matters. Anthony Edwards may be the next face of the league. Bro, good Edwards. Well, Doris, we’ve heard Anthony Edwards declare himself as the best player in the league. Well, BA, when you got the game to back it up, you don’t mind putting yourself out there. And Anthony Edwards has charisma, highly skilled, and he’s fearless when it matters most. Look out for the Ant-Man. And both free throws good for Edwards. You can tell when he steps to the line the kind of confidence he has in himself. It’s written all over his body language. Curry passes to Moody. First quarter of play and we’re about 3 minutes in. It’s Pajki on the wing. Just five on the clock and the Warriors miss again. The Timberwolves have gone two of three from the floor. Pass to McDaniels. Go against Green for three. Demon Senzo. They get it again. Go and out of bounds. The Warriors will take it. Just under three and 1/2 minutes elapsed here in the first quarter. Outside Butler jacks up a three and it’s good. Assisting on the play was Curry. Well, let someone initiate and create for Jimmy. That’s catch and shoot opportunity. That’s a sweet spot. And here’s Edwards outside. The Warriors pull it in. Now here’s Pacheki. That one is off. Some solid defense from Edwards. Randle against Curry. Randle pass to Edwards. Over Butler. Edwards. No good. The Warriors have gone just three for seven here at the start. Pass to Curry. Back to Pajki. Butler on the wing. And that one goes in as he’s fouled. It’ll be three points if he converts the free throw. And he’s got his first opportunity at the line here tonight. Randle first personal foul. Third shot at the line for one. Jimmy Butler. That’s good from Butler. Simply stated, Jimmy Butler is a winner and a game changer. This guy will compete on both ends of the floor. Gives you everything he has. Now, here’s Go. No points yet. Edwards with three on target from range. And that’s what they want to do. Get him open looks early. Green against Goar outside Butler. Green with a screen on Randall. Butler passes to Green. Two points. That one goes. See right there in the screen and roll Butler showing the capacity to create for others. I love that. Randle inside. Butler covering. Randle good. What a terrific play by just a tremendous all-around player. This guy makes it look easy. Curry passes to Butler. Green with a screen on Randall. And here’s Butler outside. Here’s Green. And there’s the bucket. Staying with it that time. Offensive glass getting it done. You simply must check Draymond Green out because this guy is going to hustle for every rebound. And Chris Bench has called timeout. He’s going to talk it over with his guys. Yeah. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. And Minnesota with possession here. Four-point game. Go passes to Edwards. Tries it from 16. And again, it’s Minnesota converting. Anthony Edwards just reading what the defense giving up. Gets to his mid-range game right there. Outside Buckler, they set a pick. Here’s Curry. Anthony Edwards with a rebound. Hey, sometimes the best looks don’t equate to points. Denzo with it now guarded by Booty. Edwards. Pass to Randle. Go with a screen on Buck to the middle. The kick out to Edward. Down to five on the shot clock. Oh, that doesn’t go on the chance to tie. Butler against Edwards. Butler passes to Curry. The three ball. It’s rebounded by Rudy Gobear. Goar’s got four rebounds in the game. Steps back, fades back. Chalk up two there. Edwards has got nine. Yeah, Anthony Edwards in the painted area is going to be a force. Size, strength, and hops. Look out. Butler passes to Curry. Pass to Moody with his first shot attempt. And it’s off the back of the rim. No good. And it’s Edwards with the ball for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Let’s go now to the sideline and catch up with Ally Leforce. Jimmy Butler is such an all-around player. He said, “I don’t need to be a 40point scorer. My role is to impact winning. I just control what I can control in the end, play the right way, stay aggressive, and do whatever it takes to get my team the win.” And Brian, he is good at his job. Well, playoff Jimmy is a real thing, whether he’ll admit it or not. And here’s Curry for three. McDaniels with the rebound. The green light they gave him early should probably turn red. He needs to get others involved. Edwards has to go there. That is Steph Curry with the rebound. The Warriors trailing right side green. Butler on the wing to get back on track and from the field after that one. Three for four now. Another lead change. Give these teams credit. They’re really fighting it out. Neither team willing to give an inch and neither able to seize the momentum. This has been a fascinating one to watch. Now here’s Devincenzo hasn’t gotten one to fall yet. McDaniels can’t hit. The Warriors have gone seven of 16 so far. Curry surveys. Pass to Butler. Fires the three. Another three for Golden State. Yeah, Jimmy Butler has found his groove and he isn’t letting the defense impact him in any way. Denzo pass to Edwards and he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So, he’ll take two free throws. I like that. I mean, some physical play inside. He’s not about to give up any easy baskets. And a moment now to quickly take a look at the offensive approach for the Warriors. Yeah, their early focus on outside scoring has paid off. They’re finding plenty of points from three-point land. Yeah, and what an excellent display of passing in the early stages of this game. A good deal of their points coming directly off quality passes. No good on that one, guys. I think Anthony Edwards has got all the makings of not only a star in this league, but a superstar. Big frame. Can score it. can board it, can handle it, put him in any position on the floor, this guy can be successful. Reeds checked in for the Timberwolves. Alexander Walker comes in for McDaniels. And the second free throw is good. Well, we know Edwards has an impressive skill set, but what really separates him is the competitive edge that he plays with. Randle against Butler and the lead increases on a crazy offensive sequence. Man, the duck alone would have been incredible. Let alone the fact that it came off a 10-point pass. Venzo pass to Edwards. Counted from distance. Edwards got 15 points. Well, Anthony Edwards came into the league with a reputation as a scorer. He is starting to hum a little bit right here. Heel finds Butler. lets it fly. Rebounded by the Timberwolves. You know, part of what makes Julius Randle so effective is that spin move, Doris. He does like to use that on the interior against taller players to get enough separation, but the number of finishing moves that guy has off the spin, it is really an effective tool. Well, the frame and the athletic ability of Anthony Edwards this guy can be of course on the boards. He’s made three or four free throw attempts in this game. Curry, he’s checked in for Kaminga. The Timberwolves also with a sub. Miller’s checked in for Randall. Good Edwards. 151 left in the first quarter here. Heel against Edwards outside. Curry puts up a deep three. His sixth miss of the game. Just two for eight now. Butler against Edwards. Sinks it again. That’s his seventh made field goal in 11 tries. I think his teammates understand that Anthony Edwards has every aspect of his offensive game working. So, let’s make sure he’s got the basketball. Now, here’s Payton. No points so far. The three from Curry knocks it down from distance. I’ll tell you, you are playing with fire anytime you leave this guy open. And they just got burned. Edwards against heel. Step back and fire. Warriors with the rebound. Well, it’s a make or miss lead. Sometimes the Jays just don’t fall. It wasn’t a bad shot. Got it. Butler’s got 14 points. Boy, the footwork from Jimmy Butler. Impressive. So good at finding room to get his shot off. Deenzo pass to Edwards. Over heels. Edwards can’t get that one to fall. The Warriors leading. Here’s Butler. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. It’s on Dante Danchenzo. There’s a relentless effort from Jimmy Butler every night. And he’s going to push through the foul and get his shot opportunity. Two shots. Shoot two. First free throw is good. And Minnesota making a change here. May not checked in. and so he hits both. 29 seconds left in the first against Curry. Here’s Edwards. Soft touch off the glass. Edwards has got 22 points. And that strength and concentration from Anthony Edwards. Yes, there’s contact doesn’t bother him. outside. Curry. Jackson Davis. The screen. Can’t connect from long distance. Jimmy Butler getting it done for the Golden State Warriors. He was dominant this quarter. Scoring and punches. More NBA on 2K Sports right after this. And welcome back to our coverage of game three on 2K Sports. And what do you guys think about the Warriors here in this one? Well, it seems like they went in looking to do damage from long range and they faced little resistance and that was obviously the plan coming in. Now the big question, can they maintain that efficiency from range as a game goes along and Curry’s got the ball here for Golden State. outside. Payton intercepted and it’s Alexander Walford penetrating and that’s got to hurt. A turnover for a free run at the rim and now we know who has the momentum. It’s still close though. These teams have been neck and neck. Let’s see the response here. Jackson Davis’s screen. The three from Curry. The offensive rebound. Edwards against Heel. Clock at six. Another shot. Wow. Curry takes the hit and finishes inside. When you look back at the history of the league, Norris, no position has evolved more than the center. You know, that’s a tremendous point because you look at some of the best players in the league. They occupy the five spot. They’re asked to do so much defensively, protect the rim, be able to switch out and guard smaller players on the perimeter. Now you’re being asked to be able to make shots from three. I mean, big man’s got a lot of responsibility in today’s game. Here’s Payton. The Timberwolves getting their last shot to go. Pass to Heel. They set the screen. Sinks the tray and the Warriors lead by three. Wow. Buddy Field usually the guy they’re trying to create open shots for. This time he returns the favor. Denzo against Curry. Denzo pass to Alexander Walker. Over Payton. And again, it’s Minnesota converting. He is too good a mid-range shooter to leave him that open. Pass to Jackson Davis. Here’s Heel. And there’s a whistle. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. It’s on Dante Devenenzo. Buddy Heel. So active on the offensive end. Finds the defense in a compromised position and gets what he’s looking for. Two shots. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. Come on. I got to shoot. Big. Big. Let’s get it. Get it. Get it. Pitch it. and he makes a first. For a guy with the shot mechanics of Buddy Heel, you’d love to see him get to the free throw line more, but it’s really not his game. He is just a dead eyee three-point shooter. And the Warriors making a switch here. Looney’s checked in. Engles. He’s checked in for the Timberwolves. Heield hits them both. Timberwolves trail by three. Alexander Walker the pass to Engles from behind the ark. Looney grabs a miss and the defense got away with one there. I mean that’s a shot he typically makes outside heel. Here’s Curry and all around the rim that time before dropping. Curry’s got 13 now. The find from Buddy Hill. I’d like to see him do that more. Spread the ball around. Pass to Engles. Back to Edwards. Engles. A screen on heel. Edwards for three. The Warriors pull it in. And they’ve been producing at a high level. No question. They’re in a nice rhythm offensively. And here’s Curry. Steven Chenzo covering. And there is a whistle that goes on Joe Engles. That’s his first foul of the game. Some changes for Minnesota. Clark comes in for Engles. And Dillingham subbed in for Devon Chenzo. And here in the second quarter, about 3 minutes played. The shake. Curry goes in and he’ll draw the foul. He’ll head to the line for two. It’s going to be on Nas Reed. Well, Steph Curry continues to put pressure on the defense just getting to the line at will. And this is his second and third free throws tonight. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. The first one falls. Draymond Green. He’s checked in for the Warriors. Pajimki comes in for healed. And so Curry nails both of them. And so Connelly will bring it up for Minnesota. They trail by seven. Pass to Goar all alone. Kaminga pulls it in. And unlike some other guys, missing a wideopen look won’t hurt his confidence at all. Here’s Curry. Oh, got a piece of it and stolen by Edwards. Now Connley defended by Pachimsky. The shot by Connley. No good. The Warriors lead by seven. Here’s Green and it won’t go. His first miss. He’s two of three now. Looking for an opening up top. Reed outside. Alexander Walker. No with a screen on to the paint. Just five to shoot. No showing his skill inside. Well, there’s height and reach to the advantage of Rudy Gobear. Just gets up and over the top of guys. There aren’t many more dominant defenders in the NBA than Goar. Well, that’s definitely fair to say, VA, because his defense has outsized influence on a game. The inside presence changes an opponent’s game plan. Credit their discipline. They’ve been working for high percentage shots. Timberwolves trail by seven. Pass to Connley. to Edwards. Michael Bear. Oh, Edwards with style and authority. Oh, Anthony Edwards thinks this game is a dunk contest. Go ahead, young sir. What a finish. The Warriors lead by five. Outside Green and there’s the lob. Wow. Kuminga playing way above the rim. Woo! I just love that alley slam. Ba defense disorganized, defense pays outside. Reed back to Conley. Goar with a screen on Curry from deep. Connley, it’s not going to go for him. Yeah, you know, he usually makes you pay from that range. Curry with it and it’s Goar picking him up. Curry takes it in. Stolen by Reed. Connley against Curry. Curry with the block. The tremendous defensive effort from Stephen Curry. Believe me, his teammates will hear about that denial. Over to the left wing. Pass to Green from downtown. Rebounded by the Timberwolves. outside Edwards. Oh, Edwards bringing the heat. Goodness. Anthony Edwards always on the attack. This guy is just so dynamic. Outside back to Curry and the layup falls. Curry’s got 19 points. There is an imagination of creativity. This guy’s passing drives the offense. And Chris Finch has called timeout. And we might see some changes. Coach potentially looking to adjust. If you see yourself on the screen, you know what to do. Let’s go. Let’s see. Heat. Heat. And some changes here for the Warriors. Butler’s checked in for Kaminga and Moody is subbed in for Payton. Julius Randles checked in for Minnesota. McDaniels comes in for Alexander Walker. Timberwolves trail by seven. Connley passes to Randall. Now here’s Edwards defended by Pachki and they call an illegal screen here. The screener was leaning a bit right there. His feet may not have been planted. Pretty obvious call by the officials. You know, he’s just leaning a little bit. You try to get away with it, but boy, the official all over it. Dillingham’s checked in for Minnesota. Now, here’s Butler. Seven-point game. Biggest lead so far. Curry no good. No idea why he’s attempting so many outside shots. It’s not his day and he needs to either look to drive or get it to an open team. Pass to McDaniel. Randle against. Here’s Edwards. Throws it down and the official calls a foul. It may be a three-point play. It’s on Stephen Curry. This will make four trips to the line so far in this game. Heels checked in for the Warriors. The Warriors lead by four. Left side Butler. The shot misses. Randall with some nice D. Edwards for the snap. Healed with the defensive effort. Boy, this guy is a good finisher. So, he misses a chippy. That’s tough to take. Outside Butler. Green with a screen on Randall. Here’s Butler. Randall pulls down the board. Randle’s got four rebounds now. Edwards finds McDaniels. And here’s Randall. against Edwards. Anthony Edwards is a load to handle as a defender. This guy’s got the frame and the skill to make it very difficult. He’s had six attempts at the line. He’s made five of them for two. He misses the free throw. And he’s good on the second. And here’s Pimsky. Pass to Butler. Five to shoot. He drains it as the shot clock ticks down. Butler’s got 18 and he’s coming off a huge performance and his confidence couldn’t be any higher and his coach knows that too. Well, the best players to me deliver night after night after night. So, as long as he’s hot, keep riding it. And it’s Jimmy Butler with the foul. That’s foul number two for him. And just a great job of getting there first and absorbing the contact. Alexander Walker, he’s checked in for Minnesota. Niko Alexander Walker. Timberwolves trail by five. Pass to Dillingham. Back to Randall. Goar with a screen on heel to the right side. Here’s Dillingham. And off the left side of the rim, it swirls in for him. The Warriors lead by three outside heel. Back to Pajki. Pass to Butler. Oh, plenty of contact on that shot. Officials call the foul and he’ll take two free throws now. Boy, I love to watch Jimmy Butler work in the post. High activity level. Hard not to foul that guy. And this is his third trip to the line tonight. Shots. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. He’s off on the first. Good on the second one. Minnesota with the ball. Four-point game outside. and Alexander Walker to the inside. It’s stolen by Green. They’re running on off the court and it’s heel that time on the assist from Butler. Heels got seven points here in the quarter. Now you see Jimmy Butler’s willingness almost really relishing the opportunity to get his teammate an open book. Pass to Dilly. Doesn’t go that time. Great D that time from Pajimski outside. But buckler back to Green. Deflects the pass. 157 left in the first half. Here’s Dillingham. Green covering. McDaniels passes to Alexander Walker. Goar inside. Another missed shot. He’s one of five. Looking shaky out there. Outside. Butler and count that. Two points and a chance for one more at the line. This to me is how Butler hurt you. The athleticism, the strength, the body control. Draws the whistle. Still finishes the play. He’s had five opportunities at the line. He’s gone four for five. Reeds checked in for Minnesota. Edwards comes in for Alexander Walker. At the line for Jimmy Butler, one shot. That’s good from Butler. And the Timberwolves with possession here. They trail by nine outside. Edwards picked by Bear on the elbow outside. McDaniels, six to shoot. Hits the rim on the way in and the bucket is good. McDaniels got six points. Defensively, you can’t afford to get stuck on the pick. You know exactly what that takes. It takes energy, it takes activity, it takes intensity. And Steve Kerr calls timeout here. He wants to give him a breather and talk things over. Here they come. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Jump breaker. The Warriors lead by seven. Outside heel. Hoody on the wing. McDaniels covering Butler. And again, no good by Golden State. Minnesota’s gone 0 for three from deep to begin the second. Edwards against Heel. Second chance effort. Edwards muscles it inside. Wow. Well, Anthony Edwards with that frame on the interior. Such a tough check. Pass to Green outside. Moody. And we’ve got 28 seconds left in the first half. Here’s Butler. That one no good. Nice D from Reed. Timberwolves trail by five. McDaniels passes to Edwards. And you can count it. He’ll go to the line with a chance at a three-point play. Boy, when you look at Anthony Edwards frame, it is pro ready right now. That upper body strength, the ability to play through contact. The end one. Yes, sir. Boy, he’s been getting to the line. He’s made six of eight. throw good. Edwards. There’s 10 seconds left to play in the first half. And here’s Butler outside. The shot that time not on target. And the first half comes to an end. We’ve got a close game going here. Warriors ahead. They lead by a bucket. Stay with us, folks. We’ll be back just after halftime to get the third quarter started. Welcome all. Game three and it’s a real halftime cliffhanger for the Golden State Warriors. This has been a display of what we often talk about on this show. Unselfish ball movement usually leads to better shots. Now, I can say this, they’re generating a lot of clean looks, guys. Yeah, it’s tough to beat a team that’s in sync. Big advantage in the assist column. Check that out. Looking at the series breakdown for the Warriors. A win would give them a strangle hold on the series, but they’ve got to continue to execute. You know what? It’s seldom the elimination games that truly decide the series. Ones like this, you look back and say that’s what did it. You got to be ruthless in the playoffs. Once you get an advantage, you got to capitalize. Ruthless, coldblooded, merciless, all those things. And that is going to do it for us. Let’s get back to some second half action with Brian Anderson and company. We’ve got second half action for you. And if the next couple of quarters are similar to the first, this one could go down to the last possession. And you know, Anthony Edwards has been really making it happen, guys. His whole first half looked like a highlight reel, rising up and just owning the rim. Yeah, this guy, he plays fast, he’s aggressive, and if you let him get to the cup, there is nothing that you can do about it. And it’s Bundler with the ball for the Warriors. Their biggest lead of the game was nine. Down low. Here’s Pachimski. The rebound by the Timberwolves. Go Bear’s got double digit rebounds now in the game. McDaniels passes to Edwards. The tie and he tries it off the glass, but it’s no good. All by himself trying to step up. He’s got to be frustrated with the miss. The three from Curry. Fourth three. Stephen Curry. Boy. Curry just taking over and seemingly able to get anything he wants right now. Randle outside. Go against Green. Go passes to Edwards. Go inside. And Gobear with the stuff and vertical threat that is Rudy Goar. What a ferocious finish at the rim. Outside Pajki outside Butler from the arc. McDaniels with the rebound. Timberwolves trail by three. Inside Randle can’t hit. Boy, in that close, he’s almost automatic. Boy, that’s pretty good defense. Wow. outside. Pajimki Curry against McDaniels. Five on the clock from the right block. The bank shot no good for Minnesota. They’ve got only one of four shots to fall in the second half. Shot is good by Edwards. Edwards got 39. Doesn’t matter where on the floor Anthony Edwards is. That shot mechanic so pretty, so fluid. Connley against Curry up top of Jimky. This will make five chips to the line for him tonight. at the line. Jimmy Butler taking two shots. No good on the free throw. Reeds checked in for Julius Randall. He hits the second from the line. The Timberwolves trail. Not quite 2 and 1/2 minutes played here in the second half. Edwards can’t hit and it didn’t fall, but still a great look. You know, it can be frustrating when you make the right play and fail to reap the rewards. You just have to stay with it here. Now, here’s Green and Jade McDaniels picks up the foul. That’s his first foul. First personal foul. Second team foul. Here’s Butler. Give him 23. Green with a screen on Edwards. Down low. Ooh, go bear with a steal. The D feels like it’s everywhere and that pass should not have been made. Edwards gets the bucket. Edwards has got 41. Anthony Edwards getting into that pullup game. Nicely done. Outside. Pajki. Butler. A screen on Edwards. Back to Curry. This one for three. Hits the trifecta. Curry’s got six here in the corner. Curry knows what his team is doing to set him up in that instance. Just get him the ball in the catch and shoot game. And Chris Finch has called timeout. He wants to review the game plan. Okay, time to make some noise and welcome to your warrior 60. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Just under three and 1/2 minutes played here in the third quarter. Connley finds Edwards. Back to Connley. Goar with a screen on Curry. Six on the shot clock. So, it’ll be two free throws. He was fouled in the act of shooting. Well, the speed and the creativity of Mike Conley off the dribble drive. Nicely done. This is his first opportunity at the line this evening. Two shots. Shoot two. Free throw drops for Connley. and Connley drops them both. Second half here and we’re just over 3 and 1/2 minutes into it. Pass to Curry beyond the arc and the Warriors with another three. They are unconscious from and so far the defense has had no answer. Well, that’s the whole point, isn’t it? If you space the floor well enough, it’s almost impossible for the defense to account for everyone. A shot by Connley. No good. Well, you’re trying to answer the three, but you force up a shot that he would have been better off passing up. Caught outside. Curry fires for three. Gets rebounded by Minnesota. And Nas Reed has proven to be a matchup nightmare for opposing big men. Doris big. And the reason is he’s bigger and stronger than most four men. Traditional fives are too slow to stay with him. He can space you out to the three-point line or he can punish you on the inside. has got big time lead. The Timberwolves again can’t hit. I think he’s gone completely dry. Nothing is hitting. And this is where you hope that he can find something easy so he can see the ball go through the net. I wouldn’t say Butler seeks contact, but he sure doesn’t turn it down. And Minnesota with possession here. The Warriors getting their last shot to go. Go with a screen on Butler. Here’s Reed. Green with a defensive effort. The Warriors lead by six. And count the basket. He was fouled and he’s going to the line for one more. And a look now at how the offensive approach has been going here so far for the Warriors. Their hot shooting from long distance has been the key. Spacing the floor and rising up with that confidence. I think another thing that’s striking here tonight, the ball movement is incredible. Again and again, they’re making smart passes to ready shoes. And that one misses. Timberwolves trail by eight outside. Alexander Walker gets Edwards on the wing. Pocket six and it falls all over the rim and in. Edwards got 43 points. Well, you can see Anthony Edwards trying to probe and create an opportunity to get off the dribble drive, sees that window and exploits it. Back to Curry. Three-pointer gets rebounded by Minnesota. Yeah, and the defense has really got to tighten up on him. He’s just too dangerous from the three-point line. Pass to Reed. Fade away and it’s good. Two points. This is and Curry’s got the ball here for the Warriors. Their biggest lead of the game was nine. The three is up. Alexander Walker grabs a board. Timberwolves trail by four. Now here’s Deven Chenzo on the take and a foul called on the way up. So he’ll take two from the free throw line. The officials were right on top of that one. First trip to the free throw line for him in this one. Two shots. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. That free throw. No good from Devon Chenzo. And the Warriors making a change here. Hayden’s checked in. Both free throws good from Devincenzo. And so it’s Golden State with it. The lead is two. Butler with the ball picked up by Reed. Butler can’t get it to go for Minnesota. They’ve gotten five of 12 shots to drop in the third. Here’s Alexander Walker. He drops it from range. Alexander Walker’s got seven. And it’s amazing. Neither team has been able to hold the lead for any length of time. Yeah, these guys are leaving it all on the floor tonight. Green finds Curry outside for Jimky. Back to Curry. And yes, it goes. Got a little English on that one. Curry’s got 11 in the second half. Enzo pass to Edwards. again. What an avalanche. He’s on a tear offensively, lighting up the scoreboard with a purpose. And how about this? He now holds the team’s single game record for postseason scoring. Here’s Pacheky on the wing. Guarded by Edwards. Rudy Goar with a rebound. Go’s got 13 rebounds in the game. glass heating. Stevenenzo pass to Alexander Walker. Pass to Reed outside Edwards. That shot off the mark. Green with the defensive effort. The Warriors have gotten six of 14 shots to drop in this third quarter. And here’s Butler outside. And that one’s good. And Greening with the assist. Green’s got three assists now in this one. Now Alexander Walker, he’s got seven. Steven Enenzo can’t hit. Pass to Curry. Free throw line jumper and he sinks that one. Hitting the back of the rim on the way in. And now it’s a four-point Warrior lead. Now here’s Edwards. He’s closely guarded. Edwards so good inside. The defense making it way too easy for him on that jump shot. He’ll take that all night. Outside Peyton. Back to Curry. Three-pointer gets rebounded by Minnesota. Edwards got four rebounds now. Lets it fly for 18. Rebounded by Green. Green’s got rebound number 10 tonight with that last one. Pass to Curry. It’s good and he’ll have a chance at one more. It’s on Dante Devonzo. You know, you’d think it would be easy to throw a player like Curry off his shot because of the size, but somehow someway this guy figures it out. Jackson Davis has checked in for the Warriors. He comes in for Pachimsky. Miller’s checked in for the Timberwolves. Clark comes in for Alexander Walker. And that one falls for Curry. Timberwolves trail by five. To the inside. Here’s Clark. Nice dish and the layup goes down. The defense couldn’t collapse quickly enough. Enzo against Curry. Outside Payton outside heel lets it go from deep that drops and it comes off an assist from Curry. Curry’s got his fourth assist with that last one. If you look at the active three-point percentage list, Mr. Buddy Heield is near the top. This guy is the very definition of sharp shooting. Edwards for three. And again, my goodness, 50 for the game. Just putting on a show. Pass to Jackson Davis. Up top. Curry. Denzo covering. Oh, Curry takes the contact and hits it anyway. Well, don’t underestimate Curry because of his size. This guy does a great job of holding contact and still finishing. Oh, connects again. That’s 52 points for him. making it all look too easy right now. Enzo against Curry. Pass to Payton. Now here’s Curry. Guarded closely. Jackson Davis. Misses. Timberwolves trail by three. Here’s Edwards. Good. He hits again. This game has his name written all over it. He has been phenomenal. An offensive onslaught. Now here’s Jackson Davis red defending. Payton with a screen on Edwards. Heel from outside. Miller pulls it in. 1 second separating the shot clock in the game clock. Pass to Clark. Now here’s Edwards. Guarded by Heel. for the lead. Edwards no good. I think this is a spot he has got to become more consistent from if you want to command the defenders respect. Stolen by Reed. Stephen Curry getting it done for the Golden State Warriors. He’s nearing the 40point mark. Just getting whatever shot he wants. More 2K action in just a moment. Now, I know he’s a big man, but he’s got some point guard in him if he’s making passes like this. I’ll tell you in today’s game you want skill and decision making at every position and it’s been a very competitive game so far as we get rolling here in quarter number four. It’s Edwards with a drive and Edwards slams it in. This guy is so explosive. Anthony Edwards off the bounds. My goodness. Curry against Even Chenzo. The three is up. Nails it from three. Curry’s got 40 points. Coming down the stretch. It’s still anyone’s game. Incredible effort and energy on both sides. These guys must be gassed. Now here’s Edwards. And the rebound goes to the Warriors. Jackson Davis has got his fourth rebound in this one to the paint. Kuminga. Nice D from Reed. The Timberwolves trail. Clark outside. Pass to Edenzo. Edward. Oh, another one falls. He is scorching hot. Well, I know this. He now ranks third all time for single game scoring in the postseason. Simply stunning. Only Elgen Baylor and Michael Jordan ahead of him. I mean, how much further can he go? Curry no good. More often than not, he’ll cash it in from that area. The defense might have done just enough to bother him. Here’s Edwards. It’s rebounded by Golden State. Their biggest lead of the game was nine. to the middle. Payton up top. Clark covers. Heel for three. Mina pulls it in for Minnesota. They’ve gotten half of their attempts to fall in the fourth. Two for four now. And there’s a pick. Denzo finds Clark. Back to Devontenzo. Clock at four. Shoto Curry. That shot is off. He’s got a great defensive mind. He gets good position and affects the release. And he did it without fouling. And that’s become an art. Changing shots without making contact. With a tough road ahead. They worked hard to get a good shot. Curry against Stephven Chenzo inside. It’s stolen by Heel. Outside Curry to the paint and stolen by Edwards. Third minute of action now gone here in the fourth. Pass to Reed. Outside Edwards to take the lead. Rebounded by Heel and he almost made them regret defending him so loosely. Oh, there’s the alley and stolen by Clark to the inside. Here’s Mina called in by Curry. Curry’s got five rebounds in the game. Well, that’s not the guy you want guarding him at the rim. just too much of a differential in terms of size and Steve Kerr calls timeout. He wants their game plan to be crystal clear at this point. I don’t think this timeout is just to give the guys a breather. Coach is looking to switch things up. And as you know, it’s what comes after that gives you some sense of what has changed. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. And the Warriors make some changes. Looney comes in for Jackson Davis and Pajimky subbed in for Payton. And the Timberwolves also making a change. Connley’s checked in. And from the sideline, let’s catch up with Hie. I was able to listen in on what Steve Kerr had to say to the team. Coach was blunt with his assessment. He said to throw out everything that happened until now. It is a brand new game and it’s only a few minutes. Leave it out on the floor. Back to you guys. All right. Appreciate it, Ally. Now here’s Curry. Fourth quarter of play and over three and a half minutes have gone by now and he puts up a deep three and again it’s the Warriors missing and so it’s Connley who brings up the ball for the Timberwolves. They’ve only given up five points here in the fourth and here’s Clark for three. Drills it from deep and now a three-point Timberwolve lead. Yeah, just continuing to unlock his game. If Edwards adds the playmaking component, watch out. Curry against Connley. Looney the screen. Curry from deep three-point land. And they come right back with their own three-pointer. Curry’s got 45 points. And here’s Edwards outside. The Jimsky grabs the board. He’s got a nice feel for that crossover, but you still have to finish. And Ka throws it down. Beautiful setup on the alley. Great catch. Great flush. Edwards looking it over. You guys, you have to put a body on Anthony Edwards. This guy is too skilled and too strong. two free throw good Edwards. And both free throws good for Edwards. The Warriors have got four of eight shots to drop here in this final quarter. Pajimky with it outside. Curry fires from deep. gets rebounded by Minnesota outside. Pass to Edwards and another one and he’s now claimed the second most points ever in a playoff game. Just roasting the defense. Nobody’s been able to contain him. One more bucket and he passes Jordan for first. Outside Curry. Stolen by Connley and so he draws the foul headed to the line to shoot a pair. It’s on Stephen Curry. You can see that defenders try to play with a level of physicality against Mike Connley, but this guy’s such a tough competitor. He’ll get to the line. Take a break. Two shots. First one falls for him. Green’s checked in for the Warriors. Jimmy Butler comes in for Kaminga. Rudy Gobear has checked in for Minnesota. Julius Randall comes in for Devincenzo. He’s perfect from the line this time. Warriors trail by four. Curry passes to Butler. Outside Randall against Butler. Pass to Curry for three. Fires in the triple. Curry’s got 48. And defensively, how do you leave him that open in crunch time? Clark outside. Back to Connley. An easy two on the layup and the Timberwolves lead by three. Well, there’s not a little bit of hesitation with Mike Conley. I know he’s slight of frame, but he’s thinking I can score it on the painted area. The three from Curry. gets rebounded by Minnesota. Goar’s got 14. Yep. 14 rebounds for him tonight. Connley finds Goar. Edwards with it. Defended by Pachki. Shoots from 14. Go passes to Edwards. Misses from short range. Golden State has gone three of seven from the perimeter during fourth. Pass to Curry and it’s good. He hits another one. My goodness. 50 for the game. Just putting on a show outside Edwards. Back to Conway. Shot clock at five. Launches a three. Drains the triple. Connley’s got nine points now in the second half. You have got to be aware of where Mike Connley is. He’s so capable outside the ark. Healed against Clark. Back to Curry. Golden State needs to get off a shot. Here’s Butler. And it’s Gobear with a rebound. Minnesota leading by four. Here’s Randall. And they’re going to count that bucket and they’ll send him to the line. It could be a three-point play. Well, Julius Randall, we know this. Loves to finish despite being foul. This guy will play through contact. No problem. All right, guys. Some stats here. The scoring breakdown for Minnesota. Well, not content to take what the defense gives them. I mean, they’re attacking the gaps and getting the ball inside. I think the other thing they’ve done exceptionally well tonight is shoot the mid-range and take advantage of those opportunities. Anytime they’re given a look, they have delivered. Moody’s checked in for the Warriors. The free throw dropped for Randall. Warriors trail by seven. Here’s Curry. Green with a screen on Connley. And a deep free from Curry. No good on the triple. He is too good a shooter, guys, to be left open like that. The defense just dodged a bullet there. Edwards for three. The Warriors pull it in. Pass to Pajimsky. Some solid defense from Edwards. The Timberwolves lead by seven. outside McDaniels. Oh, it’s stolen by Butler. And here’s the fast break. Outside PJsky. Back to Moody. Outside Pajki. And here’s Butler outside. Edwards pulls it in. Edwards got six rebounds here tonight. Yet another bucket and he set a new all-time record for single game scoring in the playoffs. Oh, a night to remember. And for those of us fortunate enough to witness it, one I’m sure we’ll never forget. And Michael Jordan, the GOAT, holding that top spot for decades. To see him surpass, wow, just crazy. Heat up here. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. And Curry’s got the ball here for the Warriors. Nine-point game to stop the run. Good. That’s another bucket. That’s 52 points for him. making it all look too easy right now. Outside Edwards, go up top. Here’s McDaniels. The rebound by Moody. The Warriors shooting the Rockwell at 46%. Pass to Green. Go Bear with a steal. It’s Edwards with a drive. It’s rebounded by Golden State. Majimski’s got his fourth rebound in this one. They grabbed their own miss. Moody passes to Butler. Shot clock at six. Lets a floater go. Oh, just couldn’t take the lid off. They had their chances. Came up empty. Here’s Edwards and he drives in and it goes as the official calls the foul. Count it and he’ll shoot one more at the line. free throw. No good for Edwards. Warriors trail by nine. Now here’s Curry inside. Curry gets it to go through the defense as well. Well, this to me is just a testament to the overall ability on the offensive end from Steph Curry. It doesn’t matter if he’s on the interior and has to face defense, he can still score it. Well, the coach loves this kind of ball movement. Anytime you create something inside the free throw line, you know it’s a good look. Pass to Pajimsky. Here’s Butler. Green. A screen. The shot by Butler. No good. After the strong first half, this guy has not been the same. And largely a no-show right here. Randall outside. Here’s McDaniels. He’s covered by Curry. Back to Randall. Launches it. The rebound by Moody. Now the Warriors with it. They trail by nine. And here’s Butler outside. Oh, Butler with the confidence from the perimeter. Butler loves to rise to the occasion. Sticks it right in the defense’s face. Curry with a steal. Another bucket. Wow. And what a night he’s had. That score now ties him for the single game playoff high for his team. He’s been nothing short of amazing tonight. A legendary playoff performance for him. First clean look they have. I mean, they’ve got to take it. And they’ve got to be efficient with the clock. Quick score, quick foul. He drops the first one and that puts him up five. And so he drops them both and it’s a six-point ball game. Stellar work at the charity strike trying to build out this lead. And Steve Kerr calls timeout here. He was quite emphatic, demanding the timeout, clearly wanting to address strategy with his team. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. 24 seconds left in the fourth quarter. And good. There’s another. Oh, he’s been absolutely ridiculous in this game. NBA, it feels like he can’t miss. Defensive foul. Rudy will go there. First personal foul. First team foul at the line for the Doves. Stephen Curry. One shot and that one falls for Curry. And they’re going to prolong the game with an intentional foul. Yeah, just trying to keep this game alive. Not a bad foul right there. So, the first one drops and that gives him a four-point cushion. hits both free throws here and it’s a five-point game. Yeah, the crucial part of those free throws is that it now makes it a two-possession game. Time called here. The Warriors decide to talk it over. 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Turning here to our analyst. What elements become the primary keys at this point? The strategy is simple. get a quick score and foul right away. Everybody has got to be in the exact perfect position defensively and execution has got to be on point. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. 20 seconds left in the fourth. Who’s watching here? Randle against Butler. Off target at the rim. And now we’ve got an intentional foul. First free throw is good and that increases the lead to six. Second one is good. Getting both at the line and it’s a seven-point game and he commits the intentional foul. And I’ll tell you what, this game is in the books. Not quite sure why they’re delaying the inevitable by fouling. Edwards. Two shots. We got this. We got this. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. Good on the first. And that stretches their lead to eight. had a tough break as his second attempt is no good at the line. So, we see the Timberwolves get the win here and it always takes a lot of pressure off a team when they get the win in game one. It’s the most important game of the series. They’ve shown they know how to beat this team. The formula’s in place. Now, they just have to stick with it for the next few games.
