Suns New GM Focuses on Hiring Coach & Keeping Kevin Durant & Bradley Beal

Basically, an interesting development is happening in Phoenix. As we know, they’re more than likely going to hire a first-time head coach. However, it seems like they’re going to be keeping Bradley Deal and Kevin Durant, or at least it’s being hinted. And before we start, my only rationale for it is a they would probably not get return on their investment, aka I don’t think they would get equal value for Durant. So, I feel like they just basically look at it, we kind of just have to ride this team out cuz we can’t rebuild, nor will we get enough assets to be a competitive team is my assumption. Let’s just continue and go from here. If you guys have watched our other videos on this situation, we’ve talked about Jordan, Dave Bliss, Adam Caporn, and all the guys that have been alleged candidates for the job. And my colleague Michael Scott at hoopshype.com has done a great job reporting on this. And the fact that they’re prioritizing the coach search, which we mentioned earlier, is going to more than likely be a firsttime coach. It’s interesting. Again, I just see it as they probably know what the trademark it is and what they can get and they probably didn’t think it was worth or it is worth Brian Gregory, the new general manager as James Jones is now taking a front office advisory role that after months attempting to trade Bradley Beal to the point where it was reported that if they couldn’t find a trade a few weeks ago that they might as well just stretch and wave leave him cuz he won’t accept a buyout. And briefly exploring trading Kevin Durant at the deadline. Durant has been widely expected to be traded this off season. New general manager Brian Gregory suggested that both Durant and Beal could remain with the franchise. Quote, I have a very good relationship with both those guys. Kevin gave me a nice hug in the wait room the other night when the news came across Twitter. I had a great dinner with Brad Beal last Thursday and we talked a little about summer plans and different things like that. My main focus to be honest with you is finding the right head coach for those guys.” End quote. Gregory emphasized. Now, if you guys aren’t aware, Beiel has a contract worth $53.7 million and then 57 million the following year. So, two years remaining and a no trade clause that he has said he will not lift the no trade clause for a trade to a cold weather city except from my understanding. I think it’s either like New York or going back to DC. DC has allegedly said they’re open to having Bradley Beal return. and Bradley Beal still owns his house and he’s like still really connected there and I assume it would be for draft pick compensation Cave would take on Bradley Beal. So that don’t expect that uh until last resort. But we know he would lift the no trade clause for a warm weather playoff team. And the big reason is is because he doesn’t want to move his family and he doesn’t want to live somewhere cold, which I mean, hey, if you hold the leverage, you hold the leverage. Meanwhile, Durant has $55 million salary, but it’s an expiring contract and represents the Suns best trade asset to retool the roster quickly to at least be competitive around franchise cornerstone Devin Booker. But I’ve said it before, Doug. I don’t think Kevin Durant is gonna fetch you more than either the leftovers from the the leftovers of the Knicks, the Timberwolves, or the Celtics. all these big teams that maybe want to extend their window one more year but don’t want to give guys contract extensions like Nas Reed Julius Randall probably either Mike Connley or Dante Devincenzo for the Timberwolves Knicks I’d assume male Bridges and whoever you want to package around him male Mitch Robinson and who else did I say Boston Drew Holiday and Kristoff Forzingis like those are my assumption a lot of those guys are either either on deals that they’re older and you the their teams don’t want to see them decline or be paying them while they decline or they’re going to be up for extensions and they don’t want to be the ones to pay it. So, I understand the I guess frustration when looking at deals and being like we might as well just keep coming to Rain cuz if we keep him we’re going to be way more competitive than for what we’ll get back. And the Suns we know that we’ve mentioned at the beginning of the video repeatedly are looking at multiple candidates after going through three coaches in the last three years from Monty Williams, Frank Vogle, and Michael Whhoser. So, I think the only positive is that I like how someone actually commented this on real GM was the fact that the Wizards were interested at one point taking back. At the end of the day, you’re only as good as your owner and the Wizards have Ted and SS makes me laugh. That was a funny ass comment. up. Yeah, it’s a it’s a weird one because I personally think the best action would be to go ahead and Ooh, ma’am. Mike, as I’ve said, I really think if you believe that keeping him is going to be the best course of action, it’s because, you know, you’re getting offered not a good package. And that probably is a result of not having any leverage. And I think not having any leverage is of course going to be holding you back from making a move that’s going to keep you competitive. Like I think best case scenario, you’re going to be able to go ahead and say like, “Oh, we’re going to have a roster that’s going to be able to have playoff aspirations, but maybe not championship aspirations.” And I understand if Matt is just decides like that’s not worth it for me. I’d rather just keep Durant. And maybe part of the reason why they hired Gregory was that he sold them on the vision of keeping this that he could make this work. Hey, Kevin Young probably should have just kept I mean Mattis be probably should have just kept Kevin Young. My apology who Deon Booker wanted and maybe none of this would have happened but if my aunt had balls she’d be my uncle. So to me, it’s a it’s obviously an interesting situation. And so yeah, that’s just my two cents on the matter. I think that’s how it has to probably go down because you have limited options to trade for and you’re not going to be taking a step forward. you’re more than likely going to be taking a step back. I guess you rather extend also you rather extend probably Durant and then trade him cuz you probably have more value that way too. So it’s actually a way lay more layered cake. Also, Mr. Bradley Beal develops more value when he becomes an expiring Xier. So having them for another year might be your best course of action.

  1. I knew this would happen. Matt wants Kevin bad and you can’t trade Beal lol plus Josh’s dad is brads agent so I’m sure they’ve talked about it pretty much already and they know Brad just wants to play his contract out. Young GM getting taking to school by dudes in the league. First the nets GM took him to the cleaners than he got a dude with a no trade clause lol
