Boston Celtics Just Got GREAT NEWS After Game 3 vs. Knicks

[Music] In a must-win game, the Boston Celtics did their job and they found their identity once again with a wire-to-wire belt to you know what victory over the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden 115 to 93. And it felt good seeing the Celtics not squander a massive lead. Once again, we’re going to discuss everything that went on in game three in the Garden and talk about what Boston needs to continue to do in game four to not the series up and hopefully take back control. All right, I mean this is pretty evident that the Celtics found their jump shot once again and the Knicks quite frankly just did not. The C’s shoot 20 of 40 from three-point range after previously being 25% and under in games one and two. They found their shot and they found it off of the rip. Believe they started this game six of seven from long range and never really looked back in the ball game. Thank the Lord that the Celtics could take over and you know just not squander a lead once again. They kept their foot on the gas the entire game. There was a couple small runs here and there from New York, but overall they they did their job on the offensive end, man. um they they finding open shooters, specifically like a guy like Drew Holidayiday who did a great job at, you know, just drawing in some defense when he would get around the the foul line area and and find an open shooter on the perimeter. And then not even all and not all those would go in, but Boston did their job and they and they shot well enough to take this game convincingly to be quite honest with you. I mean, they only they don’t they don’t commit many turnovers, but the Knicks didn’t turn over turn the ball over much either. They wash each other on second chance points. The Knicks had more offensive rebounds, but Boston just shot better in this game. And they did a great job defensively against the New York Knicks as well. A excellent job eliminating OG Anobi and Mikuel Bridges offensively out of this game. Two players who have done a really good job at at affecting this series in a in a positive way for New York in the first two games, but they completely take him out. Those two combined for 14 points in this game. And you get inefficient ball all around from the Knicks. Like you get five of 18 from Cat, you get nine of 21 from Brunson. Like the Celtics are doing a good job at sticking on defenders, switching effectively, and having good closeouts against the Knicks. The Knicks didn’t play like it was a must-win game, even though it probably was for them in a sense. You go up 3 0 in this series and it’s pretty much over. And the Knicks didn’t play with the same urgency that Boston did tonight. I felt like the Celtics came out and played like it was a game seven. Absolutely loved it. Jason Tatum, even though he wasn’t the most efficient in the ball game, he was great. Uh, I loved everything that he gave they gave the seeds tonight. Um, Pton Pritchard ignited a ton for Boston and they were, you know, overall just playing like they have what 90% of the time over the last two seasons. This is the team that we all thought that that we would get back to and yes, we were very fe fearful of in the first two games of whether or not it it would return, but it seems like this team is back and they’re going to ride a lot of this momentum, you know, into game four and beyond as as they have a good chance to tie up this series and man, I I don’t know like the it feels good. This feels like this should continue, but I I I don’t know yet because the the we’re on a oneame sample size at this point. um they got a lot of the same looks that they did in games one and two and they just connected on them tonight. Hopefully they can make that continue. We’re going to talk about all the individual performances that we saw in this game in just a moment. Did end the game 105, but still set the tone and really just took control of this game from day from, you know, from from the first minute and from from the first tip off. 229 and seven. Look, the the NBA Twitter trolls, they’re they’re they’re gonna say it was a whack performance, but he was in control the entire game. Um, I don’t think he turned the ball over too much because Boston as a whole didn’t turn the ball over really at all. He had three of them, but at the end of the day, when you throw out seven assists, I’ll take three turnovers from from JT. He dominates the ball. He’s got a very high usage rate and he’s the engine that makes the Celtics offense run. If he’s not playing at a high level, then the Celtics offensive capabilities are capped and you’re just not going to see the best version of the C’s. He’s the leader and I want everybody to know that very, very effectively because people try to act like this guy isn’t a superstar. You’re dead wrong. You’re dead wrong. I don’t care if it’s an 8 to 20. Completely dominated the game tonight. Jaylen Brown, he was he was solid as well. did his thing, but again continues like Tatum to be very inefficient shooting the basketball. Brown more of a jump shooting thing. Tatum really had an issue finishing around the rim today. Um he was really bad on on his two-point attempts. I mean, if you think about it, he went eight to 20 and if it’s five and nine from three-point range, he went three for 11 on the rest of his attempts. So that’s that’s a bit concerning, but if the shots start falling and you you got to look at it from another bright side, you win by 22 when they’re both shooting it efficiently, then it’s not too bad. Especially when you get contributions from a Payton Pritchard who was just awesome tonight. He came in and subbed in for the first time in the first quarter and did not sub out for the rest of the first I not sub no he subbed in the first quarter, did not sub out again for the rest of the first half. had 13 points in the first half and helped the Celtics extend the lead to 25 by the break. He was awesome. Hit a buzzer beater to close the second quarter along the baseline, falling away. He was in some tough shots tonight and he was playing some really darn good defense on Jaylen Brunson at times as well. Um the the this has shifted with more Peyton Pritchard minutes and I want to see more of him as this season series goes on. Drew Holiday thought he was just making the right plays all around, man. Um he’s not going to light it up. It’s more like it’s like a Draymond Green stat line, but he wasn’t turning the ball over. He was making the right reads. He was playing good defense and he was just doing his thing, shooting the basketball at an efficient rate. Two of three from deep. We’ll take that every single time. Derek White continues to be a force defensively on the glass. I mean, he was a good shot blocker tonight. Put up 17. Hit his threes when they were given to him. Three of six. Just continues to be the glue guy and I’d argue the second most important player on the Boston Celtics. Chris has again just he was a lot better especi especially defensively tonight. easily looked like the game where he was most comfortable in this series so far. Um was a rim deterrent uh rejecting a a bunch of shots just still seems out of sorts on the offensive end and um my Chris has my thoughts man because he’s obviously dealing with something pretty pretty heavy right now and he’s still getting out there night in night out on the basketball floor. So I I don’t know if a lot of guys will be able to do that. KP is making it happen and he was really good as far as defending the rim goes tonight. Jaylen Brunson, you he goes for 27, but you hold him to sub 50% shooting. Um, bad jump shooting overall from him. Loved it. Carl Anthony Towns, like, yeah, he’s going to give you 21 and 15, but when it’s on five of 18 shooting, I’ll take that every single time. He got a ton of looks at the free throw line tonight. And I I’d argue like the Celtics could have won this game by a whole heck of a lot more as the the whistle for the Knicks was so soft when it comes to these and ones they were gifted, you know, play in and play out in like the first three quarters of this game. Cat went for a lot but is an ugly statline overall from him. You really took OG and Muel Bridges out of the ball game and that was huge. I mean this is just abysmal. I mean you’re paying this guy 4040 million a season could couldn’t be my $40 million player. Not seeing that too often for Boston and Bridges like lot of block couple of buckets in garbage time. He was fine but just again not not a threat from outside. The Celtics took these guys away from the perimeter. Bridges hit a bunch of threes. OG to hit a bunch of threes and the Seas also took out Mitchell Robinson out of this game as well, fouling him constantly when the Knicks were in the bonus and sending him to the free throw line. I want to get the numbers. He did hit a couple more as the game went on, but overall he started the game, I believe, three of eight from the free throw line and ended up overall four of 12 from the stripe. It’s a formula. It’s a math problem. Keep doing it. He was a he was a force on the glass. If you can force him to go to the free throw line and force Tom Tibido to take him out of the ball game, then the Celtics are going to fare a whole heck of a lot better because they dominate the Knicks starters when they’re all out there on the floor.
