It’ll be the Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves. This time back in the Bay Area, tied at one, game number three. No Stephen Curry and the Warriors are coming off a tough loss, but can they bounce back in a major way? Can Jimmy Butler step it up and turn into playoff Jimmy? Can Draymond stay out of trouble? And then on the other side, can Anthony Edwards erupt? Can the Minnesota Timberwolves take back home court on the road looking to make their third conference finals in franchise history? Ladies and gentlemen, surely the injuries are disappointing, but it is shaping up to be an incredible series just the same way. It’s been an incredible playoffs. A lot of drama, lot of chaos. see if they can fight through and make something happen. We’ll break it all down. We’ll give it all to you live and direct live playbyplay breakdowns. We’ll read out your comments and a whole bunch more. So, happy Saturday night. Hope you’re all doing well. Welcome into the show. Let’s go, man. I’m excited for this one. I am excited for this one and I hope you are too. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome on in once again to the NBA playoff game day live show. My name is RB. This is Philly take with RB. We cover the 76ers all year long via pregame live game postgame shows just like this. However, as we know, the Sixers are not in the playoffs this year. So, we are covering other teams. We are watching other playoff games and giving you the same type of coverage just around the NBA. Now, I have been streaming all the Knicks and Celtics games. That game was earlier this afternoon. And to be honest with you, I was not capable today of doing back-to-back live streams. So, we didn’t do the Celtics Knicks game. And luckily, that game was boring anyway. The Knicks reverted back to being the Knicks. I mean, actually, they’ve been the Knicks the whole time. It was just the Celtics reverted back to actually being a competent three-point shooting team. I think they shot 50% from three and they literally just did not miss. And going into the fourth quarter, they had a 20point lead again. And I was like, “Oh my gosh, if they actually choked this again, I might never watch a Celtics or Knicks game again.” But this time, the tides reversed and it kind of aligned back to more of a normal fashion. But it was a blowout. It was a blowout. And the Knicks once again did not play good at all. I think they’ve led for a total of 12 minutes in the entire series. So that’s pretty crazy. However, I am invested in this game tonight and we did get an update on Stephen Curry. They said he will not be able to return until at least game six, which is very concerning if you’re a Warriors fan. You know, you battle all season, you fight down to to the um what was I going to say? you fight down to whatever the saying is. Um, but pretty much they’re fighting neck andneck all season. You know, they look like they’re in the gutter. They trade for Jimmy Butler and they they’re like 26 and N since acquiring Jimmy Butler and they storm all the way back and, you know, here they are in the playoffs. I mean, even though they’re only a six seed or a seven seed, excuse me. Um, you know, they’re playing good ball and they’re hanging in there and and even despite some of their shooters not showing up on a night-to-ight basis. I mean, the Warriors have played some pretty good ball. And then you get to the second round and you lose Stephen Curry in the first game. I mean, that is frustrating. You find a way to win that game, which was huge. But now your back’s kind of against the wall, right? I mean, you’re you’re banking on Buddy Heel to drop five or six threes. You’re banking on Draymond to impact winning, but who else is going to step up? It has to be Jimmy Butler. The question is, do you have enough to beat Minnesota? Because Minnesota, as I alluded to last stream, has one of everything. Like, they have the three-point specialist, they have the 3 and D guy, they have the um, you know, just the the pure point facilitator, and they have the star in Anthony Edwards, and they have the rim protector and Rudy Gobear. So, you know, does Golden State have enough? They need to win at least one of the next three to ensure that Curry even has a slim chance of returning. Who knows, he might not return at all. It’s a tough injury, but that’s where we find out what these teams are made of. And we also find out what kind of coaching Steve Kerr is going to put on display. As for Minnesota, you’re coming on the road now. You slipped in game one. Probably should have beat them then, but Minnesota went to the conference finals last year. They have a lot of experience. And if Minnesota wants to make a statement like, “Hey, this series is over.” They’re going to come out here and dominate on the road tonight and show us that they’re confident of being that deep run playoff team again. Now, if the Warriors want to make a statement, they’ll come out tonight and find a way to win this game and say, “Hey, we’re not going down just yet. We’re not, you know, waving the white flag, throwing in the towel. We’re not giving up yet.” So, this is going to be an exciting game in this series. I really do believe that. I would expect it to get chippy a little bit. Uh the other night when we were streaming, Draymond Green almost got thrown out. Kerr had to pretty much take him out of the game so he didn’t get ejected. I thought that was pretty crazy. Um and then Draymond went and he was spurting things out after the game that I thought were honestly out of line. But I think Draymond’s going to be chippy tonight. I think he’s going to try to get in their heads because honestly that might be one of the only advantages that they have right now is the toughness factor. So, we’ll see what happens, man. The Nuggets found a way to beat Oklahoma City in game three. OKC might have their backs against the wall. Is that crazy? If the Thunder get eliminated and the Thunder and the Rockets are both out, then I think we kind of know our answer as to whether you can just go fully young building into the future. But that series is not over yet. I expected to be really good. And then the Cavaliers found a way to bounce back and beat Indiana. They kind of stomped them yesterday. So really the last couple of games other than that Nuggets Thunder game really have not been that competitive. So I’m hoping that tonight’s is pretty competitive and we’ll see what happens. A lot of the games have been good. But like, do you think the Knicks are going to give it up and lose four in a row? Cuz I’ll tell you what, man. When I was watching that game earlier today, I just couldn’t help but think like, dang, this is how the first two games should have been, you know, and and you know, if I people think I’m the Knicks hater, even though I just tell it how I see it, right? And all the Knicks fans, you know, they whatever. They they were flying in here last year and during the season. I’ve had some um it’s funny. I’ve had some Knicks fans comment on old posts on our Instagram page and old videos and they’re like, “Yeah, yeah, what do you think now? You see what we’re doing now, right? And I’m like, yo, you guys haven’t won anything yet? Relax. But anyway, I was thinking about that and I was watching that game earlier and I’m like, have the Knicks even played good all series? No. Right. Like, I’m not trying to hate. I’m not trying to take it away from them. I’m just being honest. Like, the Knicks have only led for like 12 minutes in the entire series. I really don’t think they’ve played that good. I feel like it was the Celtics that were shooting themselves in the foot with tunnel vision Tatum just jacking up 303 threes in the fourth quarter. Same thing with Moses Moody last game. Jonathan Kaminga emerged from the depths of the underground and and was very good. You know, I I just feel like they have a lot of wild cards on their team. Draymond, I guess you could say, too. And I still don’t believe in Rudy Gobear, man. I think the Timberwolves have a very well- constructed roster. I I keep saying that all series. If the Timberwolves had Carl Anthony Towns, who by the way, I think broke his finger earlier today. He was they they had a clip where he was like mouththing it to somebody on the bench. It looked like he hurt his finger bad. So, we’ll see what happens there. But I I really do feel like if the Wolves had kept cat that they’d be in a better position. Like I was looking at the box score from last game and the first game and I’m like look man I’m not trying to take it away from Rudy Gobear. You know they’re interviewing him out here. But Rudy Gobear last game even with the T- Wolves winning by 21 points or excuse me 24 points. What do you have? Five points. He had five points and nine rebounds in 27 minutes. Like I don’t know. He just doesn’t do it for me. He had no blocks last game. Game one, he had how many points? Nine points and 11 rebounds with three blocks. I don’t know, man. It’s just to me, he’s not a playoff player, but maybe he’ll prove me wrong. I just feel like even if it’s not in this series, once they get to the next series, let’s say they go up against Denver, right? Let’s say he goes up against Joic or let’s say he goes up against Hartinstein and and Cadet, I just feel like he’s going to get tossed around, man. I really do. Anyway, that’s how I’m feeling. AO says Draymond’s the type of guy that would clear out a boxing division. Yo, Draymond might have to become a UFC fighter, man. Or a WWE figure. Bizzy says OKC should be ashamed of themselves. You know what’s crazy, Bizzy? I I didn’t watch that whole game last night cuz I was out, but I went back and I watched it today and it felt like OKC was up the entire game. Like I kept looking down at the score and I’m re-watching the second half. I’m like, how did they give this up in the final minute of the game? One guy that deserves a lot of credit is Aaron Gordon. And I’ve said for two and a half years now that Aaron Gordon, it would be the perfect compliment to a player like Joel Embiid when healthy of course, but like Aaron Gordon to what what he’s doing for that team right now is just so special. Such a good player. And I’ve said this too, like I just respect the way that Aaron Gordon was drafted to be a superstar, realized he wasn’t a superstar, and then, you know, started to get accustomed to his role and like really fit that niche in Denver. Like he’s exactly what Jokic needs, you know? So, shout out to Aaron Gordon. Hit that game tying three. That was clutch. But here we are in the Bay Area. We’re in Golden State. Showed a little bit potential at first, but he’s now called upon tonight. And I thought he did pretty well on the defensive end last game till it got out of control. Seeing Steve Kerr run to the court that Draymond will be ejected was hilarious. It was pretty interesting. Draymond has to know better. It’s crazy because I used to really really like Draymond, too, and I just I’ve come to like not really enjoy his play over the years. I don’t know how, but I feel like they are, but I did not expect them to be winning a game in which they have not made a three-pointer. I can’t believe they haven’t made a three-pointer. They’ve only taken five. They’re 0 for five from three. Really, it’s been the valiant effort of Jimmy Butler in this game. 18 points, seven for 13, three boards, and three assists, knowing he has to step up. Jimmy Butler doing the thing. Draymond Green, not really an efficient night so far. Two points and four turnovers in 18 minutes. Jackson Davis has only played five minutes. Why does Why does Steve Cerr keep doing that? Steve Curr in game number two played Quinton Post for the first three minutes and then benched him. He played Trace Jackson Davis for five minutes. He had two putback layups and then he benched him. He keeps benching his center like that. Maybe it’s a decoy. I don’t know. I don’t know. Now on the other side of the ball, uh I mean the Warriors are playing pretty good defense, especially in that second quarter. Actually, I would say from the first from the second half of the first quarter onwards, the Warriors have been pressing up on defense, creating turnovers, creating easy buckets in the fast break. I feel like that’s really benefited them, especially with the fact that they haven’t made any three-pointers in this game. I think if you’re Golden State, you feel pretty confident right now because again, they have they’ve had nothing from long range and they’re winning this game somehow. Now, on the other side for Minnesota, you know, Anthony Edwards needs to be better, simply put, and I know that he’s dealing with the ankle. He sprained it last game and he’s been hurt a couple times in these playoffs, and maybe that is what’s getting to him. But the I don’t know. I feel like Edwards came into this season and the biggest thing was like he needed a go-to move in the mid-range, right? He needed a go-to move. And what he did was he improved his three-point shot tremendously. He was one of the best in the NBA this year. But in times of struggle like this, I feel like he’s again he’s struggling to find that in between, you know, like he either shoots a three or he’s trying to go downhill all the way. still doesn’t really have that go-to move when it matters. And I think the ankle’s bothering him, but in every game so far this series, he’s just missing shots. Simply put, like he’s not creating the space that he usually does, and he just he’s not playing as like confident as he usually is. Julius Randles held down the fort with 132 and three again. Uh Jada McDaniels hasn’t really done much compared to the first round so far. And Mike Connley, as we know, is is up there and he’s kind of slowing down. But Rudy Gobear, man, um three points, nine boards, and two blocks. I don’t know how Rudy Goar gets as much hype as he does. Like once again, once the playoffs start to condense and things slow down, like Rudy Gobear doesn’t have any bag on offense. He’s a great rim protector. That’s it. They’re targeting him on defense. He has no balance trying to go up for, you know, some of these contests and he, you know, you pull him out of the paint and he just looks discombobulated. Like even early on in this game, we saw Jimmy Butler get 11 points in the first quarter. He was targeting that switch on Go. He just doesn’t look like he’s just not that good of a player. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I don’t want to hate. I don’t want to hate, man. But I don’t know. I don’t know. If you’re a fourtime defensive player of the year winner, there’s no way Jimmy Butler should be getting these buckets so easily. Anyway, that’s my thought. Uh, if we look at the team stats in this game, what needs to happen? Well, for one, like I said, Anthony Edwards needs to get going. Rudy Gobear needs to do something. Draymond Green gets ejected in this game with six fouls because he’s just hacking all over the place and can’t keep his cool. Crazy. Warriors had a chance to win this. They did. They had a legit chance to get this done and they came up short. But you got to credit the Wolves. Julius Randle played amazing. Triple double tonight actually. 24, 10 boards, 12 assists, three steals. Julius Randle was electric tonight. And Jada McDaniels hit a couple big shots in the fourth quarter, too. Couple big transition corner threes for McDaniels. Played great defense. Warriors went away from Jimmy late in this game. McDaniels played some really great defense. Rudy Goar didn’t do that much other than his 13 boards, but the Wolves started to make that comeback with Nas Reed. Now, Gobear did have a a couple nice contests there at the end, but it was Nas Reed in that more uptempo lineup that that got them going back in this game. And Edwards was amazing in the fourth quarter. Don’t know how many points he had off the top of my head, but 36 tonight overall. Big- time performance. That that’s a young superstar performance right there. You got to credit the Warriors for fighting. Um, once again, they got nothing out of PMsky. 1 for 10. I literally said before the game, he can either go 4 for8 or 1 for 11. He goes 1 for 10. They barely played a center in this game till they had to when Draymond got ejected with the six fouls. And Jimmy did all he could. I mean, Jimmy was hitting shot after shot and like I said, they went away from him late. So, got to credit Kaminga. 30 points off the bench for a guy that was pretty much unplayable for them late in the season to come back these past couple games to play the way he has. He’s been a great piece for this team, but just not enough. Just not enough. Clint says, “When’s the next stream, RB?” So, we will not be streaming tomorrow.
