Cooper Flagg reacts to Dallas Mavericks getting Pick 1 in NBA Draft 2025

The second pick will be made by the San Antonio Spurs. And that means that the number one pick in the 2025 NBA draft goes to the Dallas Mavericks. Rolando Blackman, all smiles. Fourtime Allstar celebrating the Dallas Mavericks had a 1.8% chance to win the number one pick overall in next month’s draft. What a wild ride for you, huh? What was going through your mind as you were experiencing this and seeing the draft lottery take place? Yeah, I mean, it’s just an incredible experience to be here. Um, to have this opportunity. Um, I mean, this is what I dreamed of since I was a little kid. So, just to be here, it’s an incredible experience and a great opportunity. Yeah, you’re working out for the draft now. What are you working on in order to get better so when you step onto the floor as an NBA player, you’re at your best? Yeah, I mean I think for me it’s always about just getting better all around. Um it’s not one specific thing that I’m looking at. Um it’s just a collective uh group of things and just trying to get all around better every single day. The Dallas Mavericks made it known that they look for two-way players. Guys defend. That’s what bring home championships and that’s why they traded Luca Dantes. You are a two-way player playing alongside Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving and what you looking forward to? Yeah, I mean I think like I said this this entire experience for me has been um amazing. Um so going forward um just going to look forward to that. Like you said being a two-way player um that’s something that I’ve done since I was a little kid. So I’m just going to try and keep doing that to the best of my ability. Cooper Dallas is a this is a good team. Did you see this coming? I mean you must have thought about where you might be going. But I’m I’m surprised but but you’re going to a very very kind of built team already. That’s pretty unusual for for what I think being the top pick. Yeah. I mean, I think for me, I didn’t try and think about it too much. Um I feel like it was kind of out of my control. So, um I’m just kind of going through the process like everybody else and just trying to enjoy every single moment cuz we only get to do this once. Congratulations, Cooper. Of course, enjoy the entire process as we lead into June and potentially a new home for you, which would be in Dallas. Cooper flag, thank you so much. Thank you. Well, for us it’s been a it’s been a rough year as you all know, but the uh the important part of the whole thing is that we’ll get a chance to move our franchise forward. We have a tremendous tremendous uh staff and management and the important factor for us is to being able to continue in that tradition and to be able to move forward. It’s uh it’s really really a great honor and it’s an important piece of the puzzle because uh we want to hoop down in Dallas. What does Cooper flag mean to you right now? Well, the main factor is that he can hoop, he can play. The important factor is that there are a lot of great players in that draft class and uh the important thing is that we’ll see how the guys get together and being able to make our team better, which is exactly what we want to do. And as for the rest of the draft, the Spurs got the 14th pick from the trade for Dejonte Murray from the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks actually got the 13th pick from the Kings from the trade for Kevin Hurder. The Bulls got the 12th pick. The Portland Trailblazers got the 11th pick. The Houston Rockets got the 10th pick from previous trades. The Toronto Raptors got the ninth pick. The Brooklyn Nets got the eighth pick. And with Zion in attendance, the Pelicans, they got the seventh pick. The Wizards and the Utah Jazz, the two teams with the worst record in the NBA, the Wizards got the sixth pick, and the Jazz got the fifth pick. Both falling out of the top four. The top four was actually a crazy list of teams. The Hornets got the fourth pick, the 76ers got the third pick, and I thought the Spurs were going to do it again, but they got the second pick. And then obviously the Dallas Mavericks got the number one pick. Let me know in the comments section what shocked you most.
