Not just the Bulls, but hopefully the Bulls are the most important pick that all matters. Uh Bulls have an opportunity to a 8% chance to get a top four pick in this draft. They have a 1.7% chance to get the number one pick in this draft. Why is 1.7 important? You might ask J. What happened back then? One Derek Rose with 1.7%. Chicago Bulls came away with it. Regain 110%. Let’s hope the fix is in. Absolutely. Absolutely. Come on now. Hey, I’m not gonna lie to you. I fully expect when the number 12 pick gets here, the Bulls will name will be selected. Um but uh hopefully we’ll see what ends up happening throughout the night. Oh, they fixed Kendrick Perkins chair. Perk was sitting like basically standing up and he and his whole he was like, “Ah, y’all supposed to keep me low so the gut can’t be seen. You can’t fool us.” Uh, George, what’s going on, man? How you feeling? Uh, coming into this draft. Feeling good. Feeling great, man. I uh, look, 1.7% chance last time we had that. What was it? I want to say 200, what was it? 2007. Seven. Seven7, man. Derek Martell Rose. Uh, are we saying we get a repeat and get a Cooper flag bring? Because, you know, the NBA wants to see the main cities kind of get involved. I mean, the NBA, it’s good for business, first of all, when you got your New Yorks, when you got your Chicago, your Los Angeles’s as good teams. And apparently, we’re the only one that’s kind of not like on the outside looking in right now. So, I’m just saying, you know, maybe Chicago’s due. Listen, some teams get uh good, some teams get lucky. The Chicago Bulls need to get lucky yet again. Technically, every winning team the Chicago Bulls have ever had has come from L. Top 10 pick and I feel good. 12 I mean, and the reason I say that is because this is the kind of draft where you can find talent later on in this draft. I think there’s talent all the way down. I said this morning on lockdown Bulls down to the 22nd pick, teams should be able to find some really nice pieces. The question is, will they be able to find some of these really nice pieces? But I mean, like I I just I look at where the Bulls are now. The fact that AK made a trade, remember the Zack Lavine trade got them back the rights to their own pick. The Bulls would have would not have a pick right now if not for that trade. The hope is that this becomes an opportunity for you to go out there and get a superstar caliber play. Yeah. Yeah, that is the hope. Um, and if that hope doesn’t become realized, unfortunately, I will say this, uh, CBS Sports has a mock draft. I know today is not the actual draft. We’re just trying to get the the the actual the the the positioning. But if we just Conor Bard, Caleb Williams, Cooper flag, that would be insane. Yeah. Oh, and also Kyle Tucker. Thank you very much. Anyway, uh no I think that if the so if the Bulls don’t obviously find a way to move up to the top four or by any chance get into one and they stick at 12, there is a name out there that I already am liking. I’ve liked this guy for a minute. I think he feels a big need if we’re going to move along from Boovich, which we need to. By the way, you know how I feel about BHA these days. Get him out of here. Get him out of here. Uh Derek Queen. Derek Queen from Maryland. Queen. Yeah, I love Derek Queen. And he’s been projected to go at 12. If we can get Derek Queen from Maryland, I’m going to be honest with you, I’m a okay with not getting Cooper or any other top four. He’s he reminds me of the ideal big man in this in this modern NBA that who can really has really good passing instincts. Um is is is quick on his feet. Only thing he has to work on a little bit is his shooting from outside. Um and I think he can improve on that. But you know, give me a Derek Queen. That’s all. Yeah, listen. I I wouldn’t I wouldn’t mind a Derrick Queen. I think that uh the big thing for me with him is I don’t think that he’ll be there down at 12. I think he’s more of a top rack in this NBA. I think he’s more of a top eight pick in this NBA draft. But I mean, listen, I think there’s there’s a lot of names that you could get if you’re the Chicago Bulls, especially I I’ve said one guy that I like is is a Thomas Sorber. I think that he brings a ton of talent on the floor, especially at that big man position. I I love uh um Oh, boy. Why am I Why am I tweaking on the Michigan guy? I’ve only been hype on him uh the entire time. Um, big man. Yeah, he a big man. I’m I’m tweaking on his name right now. Uh, Danny Wolf. Danny Wolf. That’s my guy. Danny Wolf out of Michigan. Uh, somebody who I think, listen, I think that Danny Wolf is going to be has I shouldn’t say is going to be. Has the potential to be the modest bisellas of this draft where a lot of people are like, “Yeah, you know, we kind of like him. We like some things that he does, but we like these guys better.” He ends up falling a little further in the draft and he’s got handles. He’s got a jump shot. He’s he can get to the rim. He can drive. He’s got some really solid defensive abilities. There’s some the to me the defense is the thing that needs to be grown on uh uh most uh but blocking shots at the rim, he brings that. Like to me, I’m excited about how deep this draft is, especially for the Chicago Bulls chances. The worst case scenario would be you end up falling to 14 and you lose two draft spots here. But we’ll see what ends up happening in the long run. I I I think right now where the Bulls are at, you need a superstar. And no matter what, I’m You could have the number one pick. The number one pick makes it easier, right? Like you’re going Cooper flag if you got the number one pick. Yeah. No matter what, if you have the you could have the number one pick, you could have the number five pick, number 10 pick, number 15 pick. You need to Your scouting department needs to get it right. Like you’re not winning NBA playoff games without a superstar player. Look at what Denver is doing. Denver does not have the team that feels like it should be competitive in this uh uh in this playoffs right now. And yet it is a two- two series after yesterday. And yesterday was an incredibly close game with them shooting horribly just because at certain points Joic goes, “All right, let me go be Jokic real quick.” That’s that’s the world you have to live in to win in this NBA. Yeah. No, you do. I uh I I I love that that that model. Uh, and I think that’s essentially what AK was always trying to go for when he when he got here and, you know, is trying to rebuild this team in that in that form in a sense, which is why I like a Derek Queen cuz I mean he he I’m not saying he’s he’s he’s not going crazy, but I’m just saying like he has those those intangibles as well in his game. Um, I do like a Danny Wolf. I do like that. I saw somebody else in the chat. I just I I don’t think I I kind of they chat’s kind of going uh fast here, but uh somebody had mentioned that um would we get rewarded for not tanking like the other teams usually do to get into the top four because clearly we were trying to push for the playoffs. Does the NBA give us a kind of an under the table, hey, we’re going to reward you guys because you all did it the right way and Chicago needs a guy. Well, listen, I’m not saying that the draft lottery is rigged. I don’t believe that it’s rigged. I think that it’s all fair play as long as the Chicago Bulls win it. If they lose it, if the Bulls get the second pick in the draft, it’s rigged. But if they get the number one overall pick, no rig. No, no, no. They have one point chance. Not a chance. Okay. I would say this that uh if you think about it turns a global business with Dallas like losing Luca, losing fans, all this stuff. This probably took all the pressure off Nico and the fans now can shift all that hate to the Cooper flag. So it has got to draft Cooper flag. Yeah, they draft the Cooper flag. But I I just think they better draft Cooper flag. But this helps the Mavericks because the Mavericks would lose for everybody who has uh is having a fit about how the Bulls played out the season. The Dallas Mavericks were the 10th seed. The Dallas Mavericks were the 10th seed backto back years. Now, the 10th seed has gotten the number one overall pick. So, it is beneficial. It is truly a lottery if you want to say that for the competition. And the Chicago Bulls this year uh were the what were the Bulls? The Bulls were the ninth overall pick, but they lost to the Miami Heat immediately, making them essentially the 10th overall pick or the 10th uh the 10th seed, I should say. So, NBA rewards, it didn’t work out for us this year, but I I do think that this speaks more to the fact that competition is competition is worth it. Now for people losing their minds, you realize you’re adding players to a team that you were excited about at the end of the season. Oh, I still think M is going to be not happy. We we want we want to listen if they get I would have loved to have the number. Let us let us let us let us like re, you know, regroup right now. Everybody’s, you know, a little upset. ESPN is putting us on TV so Cooper can shoot, so Cooper can cook. You’re you’re disrupting a lot of development by sitting there chasing that one developing star as opposed to getting a I I would say a veteran in this case to actually, you know, act accentuate what we already trying to build. I just think it’s better for us to do that. Find some other groups that fit roles and do that. That’s not necessarily true. That’s not necessarily true. TM and it’s not true all the time. I get you, but like most of the time it is though. No, I’m talking about TM. It doesn’t pay his comment. It pays. It doesn’t pay the tank because the number the number one overall pick didn’t tank. Well, if you look at most of all most of the winners that have won it, it is a combination of veterans with some talent. And a lot of times they’ll bring in a number one pick or a top pick to add to that team. But you’re trying to find the right core. I mean, no, it’s very rare to do what Golden State has done where they drafted, you know, their core team and then they add it. But when you get a Eagala, when you get a Shawn Livingston, when you get those nice blue guys to add, well, I mean, look at the old Lakers teams. Look, look at like Magic squads. But look at the Pistons teams. I mean, one draft pick with Isaiah, but you had like a Lambbeer. You got a Dumar, but then you got a lot of those Mahorns. That was a trade. A lot of those guys were were trades. The Bulls would draft Jordan. You did draft Scotty and Horus, but you drafted that whole team. No, Cartwright came over from New York. John Paxton was a hold over. I think he came from the the Spurs, you know. Did you you Craig Hodgees was a free agent, you know, like you you started to add and build, you know, you do need to get your core together. So, if this young core is there and we may have to get another guy like, you know, and oh, to add even to the Pistons, remember they traded for Mark here. Yeah, they did. They traded. Just to bring it to a just to bring it to a modern context, you know, we got the Celtics and the uh Knicks about to kick off. This the Knicks really don’t have a bonafide superstar. Brent Brunson is kind of fringe on most people list, you know. So, when you look at what they’ve built there and the synergy and everything they got, they got a bunch of really good. Now, look at those. I would say he’s a one. I would say he’s a one. You know, you know, my definition of superstar is different than than most people’s, right? So, I’m not going to call him a superstar, but how far down the point guard list you got Jaylen Brunson? He’s top five for me. Top five. Top five. I mean, I I Is he Is he outside the top three? Yes. At this point, who’s your top three point guards in the NBA right now? Steph, Tyrese Hallebertton. That’s a shooting guard. Is he SGA? I mean, uh SGA is No, I’m saying I’m saying top three. I mean, Maxi, listen, I wouldn’t put Maxi over Hallebertton. But I think he has a potential. Uh, but like let’s just the length he has, his ability to impact the game and stuff like that. He just does it differently. And the Pacers aren’t the Pacers without him and what they do, what they’re bringing to the floor. When he’s off to me, Brunson is like, “Hey, everybody clear out. he gonna go get a bucket with this man one-on-one, but I don’t think he sets up his team as well as others. They just have good chemistry because they all played together for so long. That’s what I that’s how I feel. I’m not saying it’s right, but that’s how I feel. I I I agree with that. I agree with that to an extent. I think Jaylen isn’t necessarily the guy that gets everybody like in the perfect position, but I mean, because you’ve had Anonobi there for a minute. You got McKelbury, you got a lot of really good talented players that are just really good together. And then, of course, Cat. Um that team just kind of kind of comes really good. Yeah. Yes, he is. I can’t even deny it. You know what it is? That is playing tough. Tad is playing tough. That ain’t backing out. That ain’t getting giving you that. Oh my god. What he always doing around the he he like, “Oh, let me let me hit you with this bow to the back of the head real quick.” Somebody got in his ear and was like, “I need you to toughen up. Quit crying like a little You know what? New York. You can’t come to New York with all that crime, boy. You better. He been doing it, but but in the playoffs, he uped this game. Um, but no, man. The problem with Kyrie is the same thing. Kyrie has been injuryprone. You know what I mean? These last these la outside of last year, Kyrie has been banged up. Kyrie whole career has been injuryprone. every time like you gota think about it the the finals that Kyrie won which he is the a huge reason why they win that finals like if you say LeBron is 51% Kyrie is 49 right like he’s a massive reason why they win that finals um Kyrie was out that whole playoffs Kyrie got healthy at the right time the year before Kyrie was healthy the whole playoffs got hurt for the finals the Cavs get destroyed Like for the record, Kyrie has never played 82 games in his career. Has he played How many times he played 60? Uh he played 58 last season. He played 60 the season before. I know the season before was one of his more healthy ones. He made that’s that’s you got to include playoffs in that too. He played the whole playoffs. Yeah, he’s been on average around 60 games on 60 games. Like me me and Hayes saying don’t 65 games is a full season in the NBA now. That’s crazy. It’s just Listen, it’s it’s the politics standard is lower. Standard has been lowered. It’s the politics of basketball. Before we get up out of here, boys, uh let me ask y’all, unless y’all want to do a live for the game. Uh let me ask y’all this. Um now knowing you have the 12th overall pick, I stand on the fact that you have to have a superstar to win. Giannis Antakmpo has become the hot name this off seasonason per Sham Shirani’s report. Uh because he’s now open to being moved. Would you move what it costs to go get a guy like Giannis who is 30 years old right now? There’s a ton of time left, but Giannis has said he don’t want to be one of them dudes playing till he’s 37. I’m not going for him. He doesn’t fit. He doesn’t fit the team. We don’t have a team for him. Oh, the team becomes him. Oh, you got the team for him. You got Kevin Herder on this team. You’ve got Kobe White. You’ve You’ve got uh uh Josh Giddy who fits perfectly. Now you moving. I’ll tell you this. Modest Balis, you are a buck. That’s what it be. Hey, that’s the only thing that scares me. You are a buck. No, I don’t want to do that. I know that sounds crazy, but I don’t want to do that. I see him going to like a to like Brooklyn, but you got to think he grew up there. There there’s only a few players left that have grown up with the tie that we have that most of us have in the NBA. Giannis is one of the few players left that grew up watching Michael Jordan and grew up idolizing Michael Jordan and grew up saying that that’s so cool to see that level of player. and he’s talked about that multiple times. I see him being intrigued about coming to Chicago. What I don’t see him what I don’t see working out possibly is what you got to give up because the Bulls never want to give up what it takes to go get a superstar level player. If there is a way that they can keep modest and you give up whatever else you got to give up, I’m fine with that. I would rather have Giddy than modest. I honestly think he’s end up in like the Cavs or something like that. It’s no way he It’s no way he going to Cleveland. You You got to think he also dictating some something some here. There’s no way that boy going to Cleveland. They give up Darius Garland. They give up uh Oh, Detroit could work. Detroit would definitely not going to. You got to understand, you got to have a team that has a pieces that can actually make the move. He’s going to make 175 million over the next two. Um, so he’s do a lot of money. So you need people or a team that’s already heavily invested or leveraged in their players for it to even work from that aspect. Bulls are not. We’d be giving up way too many pieces. You giving up a lot. You g up a lot. You want to know what I equate it to though? If you feel like you have a certain level of pieces, Josh Giddy showed you a lot at 22 years old last season. Kobe White showed you that he can be that offball guy while still being an elite scorer. Remember how wild it was when Kevin Garnett got traded? Remember how W and you got to go back. Remember the our brains exploded when Kevin Garnett got traded? It was like this how’s this going to Well, yeah, because it was like how’s this going to work? Now, we didn’t know. We also didn’t know Ray Allen was going to that team as well, but but it was how is this going to work? How is him and Paul Pierce going to coexist? Who’s going to be the number one? Kevin Garnett have never been a two. Kevin Garnett was that dude and he spent his whole career. Now Giannis has had immensely more success than Kevin Garnett ever did. But when you talk about those big name uh uh players being traded, that’s where my mind instantly went where it was like Giannis is finally ready to move on. I was like that’s like KG leaving Minnesota because Giannis is Milwaukee. like that. Like the Milwaukee B when you say Milwaukee Bucks, you think about you don’t even think about another player. Yeah. I can’t I mean Brandon Jennings at a certain point. Yeah. I just I can only see him going to a team like I can see him going to to Milwaukee. I mean not Milwaukee but Miami. I can see them making that work because Miami has the culture that he would probably like the cap space and I think they got pigs. I don’t don’t quote me on that one. I can see the cast because they definitely have the pieces to trade for him and make the money work without gutting the entire team because I mean honestly would you rather have Giannis or Jared Allen? I’d rather have Giannis. Would you have rather have Giannis or or or Evan Mobley? You kind of get a two for one because he makes up the production of both of them in so many ways. Like so Miami has a 2025 pick via Golden State. They have a 2026 pick that’s theirs. They have a 2028 first round pick that is theirs. Um, and then they got second rounds in between that in 2026 and 2027 as well. Um, I I think I’ll say this. I think they he needs a superstar. I I’ll say this. I think we believe Miami fits Giannis because we’ve seen Giannis party in Miami. What else about Miami fits Jiannis? Cuz you’re not keeping Tyler Herro. You’re not keeping Hero. You’re not keeping Haimey Hawkins. You’re not keeping Nicola Yovi. You’re probably also not G. One, nobody makes that much money on a team. You’re also not keeping your young rookie and Khalil wear. I don’t think you get rid of all them people. I think Bam is out of there. How you going to make money work? You Bam is out of there. I got to that. That’s redundant. Bam and Jiannis occupy the same space. I I would agree with you, but not but Bam and Khalil wear do too. Now, if I’m trading if I’m trading Bam, I’m trading Khalil. Now, but here’s the thing, though. To make the money, hey, if I’m trading Bam, if I’m trading Khalil Wear, if I’m trading uh I I still I believe you still probably got to include Hero in that deal. So, now you going to work with Giannis. And now, I will say this, Pat Riley’s a very different GM. Pat Riley gets he gonna build a team around Giannis. He gonna build a team around Giannis. He gonna build a team around Giannis. It’s a very different situation. Let me throw a monkey wrench in this because and this goes back to the game that’s about to play. The Boston Celtics we as we know it, this is their last run. Win or lose, they can’t keep all these players. They are so far over the luxury. They’re so old, right? Bro, they can’t keep the next year’s payroll is more than they bring in. No, they can’t they can’t keep they can’t keep Christophs. Kristoffs is gone. Horford is done. But you’ve already got you’ve got Drew signed already. You’ve got now the only This is your team. This is your team. Drew is signed. Tatum is signed. Brown is signed. White is signed. Bro, they can only keep like three of those guys. You just gonna get you going to get hit with the penalties. And Boston do not mind being hit with the penalties. New ownership. That’s what Chicago ownership. It’s new ownership. They sold they they bought it for six billion and they won’t be making any money. Like honestly, just their payroll alone for the players is more than the revenue they bring in. That’s not even considering all the other people and play things that they got to pay for. They’re so far under the gun, it’s it’s ridiculous. Their tax situation is worse than the Golden State tax situation a few years ago. And that’s ultimately how we end up getting the Warriors that we have today. This depleted but somehow retoled version of it. It worked out, but I mean I think the Warriors also did go right back in and get Jimmy Butler and pay him an extended amount of money. They did and they listen maybe they they chose to do something later and make some money work, but like they couldn’t. So 25 2026 their payroll right now is exceeding 500 million which is crazy. Um they’re the most expensive team in NBA history. NBA history. But but see I think here’s the thing. If you’re willing to pay the tax as uh as the the Boston New York game is is tipping off here. If you’re willing to pay the tax and you can’t defer it like they they said you could. But if I’m paying a tax for Derek White, Drew Holiday, Jaylen Brown, and Jason Tatum. If I’m paying a tax for those guys and I’m down 2-1 to the Knicks and I have a a payroll that’s double theirs, I’m reconsidering this if I’m a new owner. Like something here has to shake because who you who are you considering? Are you re you reconsidering Jason Tatum then? No, no, no, no. I’m keeping Jason Tatum and and Brown. Those two I I I keep. But everybody else, it’s ridiculous how much they get paid. Like Drew Holiday is worth every penny in the context of this team. I couldn’t I couldn’t see it. I would say this. If you’re looking at how and we me and you had this conversation, I don’t know if we were on live for this or me and you were just having this conversation. Um, if you’re having the conversation of blowing this team up after how big a jump the NBA took in the off season, that’s kind of crazy because it went from you can score whatever bucket you want to, hey, if they elbow you in the throat, we calling a a flagrant one. Like how you went from 2023 to 1994. Yeah, that’s an insane jump. So, I I think to me like I I would I can see them maintaining this. I also I still see Boston like if they win this game, they right back in it. That’s a nasty move right there. Oh, they they definitely they definitely right back in it. But it’s like, bro, if they win if they win I I I I’ll go as bold as to say this. If they win this game, they win this series. Nah, I ain’t gonna say that. Getting it back two. And now we know how to fight. Bet it up. Yeah. I think if they if they they they grade their level of intensity. Yeah. Absolutely. Because playoff experience matters. Championship experience matters. And I think this playoffs is showing you I think I think the Denver matchup is showing you that. But uh Hey man, listen. OKC gets blown up. You think OKC gets blown up completely?
