I honestly and truly think the sport isn’t as rigged as people think it is. I believe a lot of incompetence goes into it. But I believe to my core that the nba uses the lottery as a “harmless” way to influence headlines.
The Patrick Ewick Draft was interesting, because executives in New York were creating ads about him playing in NY before the lottery even took place. Buzzfeed did an interesting deep dive on it. I recommend looking it up. Some people think the NY envelope was placed in a freezer so that the person selecting the envelope would be able to distinguish it by touch.
You know what was rigged when Cleveland kept getting the number one pick in the draft every year when LeBron left Cleveland and went to Miami despite them not being the worst team in the league record-wise. They just wanted him to come back.
