NBA PLAYOFFS LIVE : DENVER NUGGETS vs OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER (LIVESCORE)

Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Yeah, yeah, yeah. [Music] [Music] It’s tell me that I’m never going to make it. They want me to do something that can make sense. They hate when I keep dreaming I’ll be famous, but I don’t give a [ __ ] I’mma keep chasing. I got all this potential is deep inside of me. But they hate when you’re successful cuz they tried to be. They sit there being judgmental because you’re trying things. And they just want you to settle and do the right thing. So get a good job. Don’t slack off. Wake up every morning, make a good impression on your boss. Don’t do anything that I wouldn’t do. And when you’re making money, make sure you don’t spend it too soon. [ __ ] that. I’ll do what I want to do. I got a different path from everyone, and that includes you. Who are you to tell me how to live life? In these times, it feels like nobody is right. Yeah. So, I’mma figure out what else we succeed and then invest all of my time into that and proceed. I need whatever the hell could make me happy. And I don’t think you have a clue. What could that be? They tell me that I’m never going to make it. They want me to do something that can make sense. They hate when I keep dreaming I’ll be famous. But I don’t give a [ __ ] cuz I keep chasing. But they tell me that I’m never going to make it. They want me to do something I can make sense. They hate when I can’t dreaming I’ll be. But I don’t give a [ __ ] I keep chasing. Think this could be special if I get rid of the devils. They think that I am a rebel. I think they want me to settle. There’s nobody on my level. They think that work is too stressful. I think that work is essential. The grind is all in your mental hand. I don’t think you understand what I’ll go through just to be in control of my life soon. All the negativity, man, I’m immune. I don’t really need a mask with all I’ve been through. I’ve been making changes for the ages. Five 10 year plans are contagious. I attack that [ __ ] I’m tenacious. And if you get the [ __ ] out of my way, then got one life, I won’t regret it. I will fight until I get it. But I look back one day from heaven and say, “Damn, I learned some lessons.” And say, “Damn, I have no questions. I had fun in every second and the journey was a blessing.” Yeah. They tell me that I’m never going to make it. They want me to do something that can make sense. They hate when I keep dreaming I’ll be famous, but I don’t give a [ __ ] I keep chasing. They tell me that I’m never going to make it. They want me to do something that can make sense. They hate when I keep dreaming I’ll be. But I don’t give a [ __ ] I keep chasing. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Hey, hey, Uh-huh. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] 2. Uh u a uh uh Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] Woohoo! [Music] Here we go. [Music] [Music] Even when you feel low, you can still go. Even when you feel slow, you can still go. Even when there’s no hope, you can still go. I never answer the no man. I still go go go go. Yo go go go go go go go go go go go. Hustle lot hustle every single day. I’ll be making moves till I’m buried in my grave through the system. I don’t want to be a slave. I’ll be doing [ __ ] my way or the highway and in the driveway is a nice range cuz I grind through the climb. I am white pain. You’ll never hear me, [ __ ] Now I don’t complain. Just got to flip the switch and you can go and obtain anything you want, anything you need. Your mind’s got like a key ingredient is belie. But I just slide right by that energy. Even when you feel low, you can still go. Even when you feel slow, you can still go. Even when there’s no hope, you can still go. I never answer the no, man. I still go [Music] go. You got a mind, but even that could change. You could flip the gray matter like some batter in your brain. That’s why they say fake it till you make it. A and if you play that game then you just might make a change. Rearrange all the bad to okay. Take the worst saying, turn them to a game. Take the best saying, put them on display on repeat in your brain till you’re feeling no more pain. Never slow yourself down, you can do some more. Push past all the pain and you’ll find a door. Open it up and finally explore everything that you thought you could never do before. And even when you feel low, you can still go. Even when you feel slow, you can still go. Even when there’s no hope, you can still go. I’d never answer the no, man. I still go go slow go. I know we still go go go go go. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Yeah. Yeah. [Music] Yeah, I d [Music] Fire. Hey. Hey. [Music] I [Music] [Applause] feel compelled. [Music] Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. [Music] I think [Music] this Higher. Higher. [Music] [Music] I think just doubling down on the stuff that we think um has been good for us through the through the first couple games. Um, uh, you know, a lot of a lot of questions game by game just about, you know, what’s happening and and what’s going on, but like I feel like the stuff that we’ve prepared with has been good and, you know, we’ve bled for a large majority of of all the games. So, um, I don’t think there’s anything, you know, that we’re going to just like have an epiphany on that’s like this is the the game changer. It’s just about being great at the stuff that we’ve talked about doing. And with uh some futility later in these games in clutch time, Alex was asked, “Is there any frustration that’s setting it at all?” No, I don’t think so. Um it’s the playoffs. You know, nobody just wins 16 games and gets to hold the trophy. Um even the best teams ever, you know, lost one or two along the way. So, uh and no concerns over frustration, you know, playing a factor just because you don’t have time for it. like if you carry frustration over into the next game, you’ve probably already lost. So, um today’s just about wiping that slate clean. Obviously, like we talked about doubling down on the stuff that I think we know works. Um and you have to be optimistic. You have to be, you know, arrogantly optimistic if you want to have a chance to win a a championship just because if you don’t have that belief, then you you probably won’t get there. All right. Gideon Hamilton here inside our network studios as we get you set for the Thunder and the Nuggets game four today. And joining us now from Denver is the voice of the Thunder, Matt Pinto. And Matt, it happens again. Denver able to perform better than Oklahoma City in a clutch time game. And this one kind of felt like playoff basketball. Uh teams were within a possession of each other throughout the fourth quarter. It was difficult to get anything going one way or the other and or just a really a hardfought uh toughly contested game between these two and Denver finds a way to win it in the end. Yeah, Razers edge margin. I mean it was that was the case in game one as well. Thunder had a little more leeway to play with with a larger lead in the opening game of this series. But uh in that game on uh what was that was Friday uh quick turnaround. Um the Thunder had the ball up three in the final 40 seconds. couldn’t convert offensively, lost Aaron Gordon on the subsequent possession for the Nuggets, which was more of an accelerated pace early offense look. He knocks down an uncontested corner three. And there you go. It’s 102 a piece and you’re fighting from there. And the Thunder did not have what it took. Outscored 14-2 uh in the waning seconds of the fourth quarter through the overtime to lose game three. So, a lot of lessons. There were a lot of good things they did. Got up 19 more shots in Denver. really limited Nicole Joic who was 0 of 10 on threes. He’s turned it over more times than he’s assisted during this series. So, they’ve got a lot of positives going, but they recognize they’ve got to be better at critical moments in order to get back the homecourt advantage they lost in game one in game four today. And you mentioned Jaylen Williams performance in our forecast pregame show. not only being good for that game and putting Oklahoma City in position to win that game, but also maybe having some carryover today in terms of Denver uh having to honor Oklahoma City defensively in a in a different way to keep him from going off again. Well, I I think that, you know, just in watching a lot of what went on down the stretch, uh it it left for the Nuggets because of Shay be really being occupied by two defenders dubbed to go one-on-one to show off his athleticism, his quickness, his three tiered uh scoring ability on the offensive end. And so that that leaves a lesser defender on more of an island against Dub. So the Thunder, I would think, can make some money there in game four. The other thing the Thunder can do recognizing the way the Nuggets defended them with always a shadow doubler on Shay wherever he went initially it’s Murray or a Brown in a different looking zone than the Nuggets had shown in this series. Cut a guy right behind that. So you occupy the interior of the Denver defense and create a threeon two offensively for yourselves. But the bottom line is the Thunder have got to find a way to do a better job making shots in game four. They’re a better offensive team than they showed. Denver is not as good a defensive team as they showed. you’d think that the median will set back in hopefully in game four today. I we we talk about just somebody anybody being a part of the equation uh to be able to trust on the floor for Denver. And I’m not saying that David Adelman is is going to think after game three, hey, let’s play Pton Watson 24 or 25 minutes. He’s going to be very cautious about his time on the floor. But at least inserting him into game three paid off in some form or fashion as he knocks down a couple of shots and blocks a couple of shots. And that’s really all they’re looking for these guys. Matt, look, he he’s legit. I mean, he’s a guy that when he’s on the floor as a defensive menace. He’s a defensive differencemaker. He’s long. He’s an outstanding shot blocker for his size. He’s a player that competes offensively. You have to live with the fact he’s still raw, but he’s becoming better. And I think he is an asset for the Nuggets in this series when he’s called on, as has Westbrook been. So yeah, they only go seven deep, but all seven are capable and competent. And so that puts the Thunder in the place of, and I think Dagnol has kind of evaluated this since game three. Do the Thunder continue to go primarily with a rotation that’s longer than seven, which they’ve done most of the season, or do they stay compact as they did in game three? And maybe fatigue’s a factor because of the number of minutes that the core guys played in that fourth quarter into overtime. I think that’s something he’s evaluating because the altitude here is a legitimate I I think concern for any visitor. The Thunder have always navigated it well, Gideon, but they’ve done that with quality depth. They played their core guys more than they have in any game this season in game three. We’ll see if there’s an adjustment there from the head coach’s perspective. We we brought up Joic earlier and there’s going to be some give and take game to game, but you have to go with an approach that is working. And when you talk about, you know, 25 trips down the floor um that are empty for for your team, you have to uh be able to feel good about that approach regardless of the result. And for Joic, 0 of 10 from three-point range, you don’t necessarily anticipate that again. Eight turnovers, you don’t necessarily anticipate that again. But while it’s going, keep it going. No question. The Thunder have found some things, but it’s just about competing. It’s about what it is the Thunder have brought all season defensively. Uh that that rapid fire physicality, I think it has definitely played a toll on Joic and his effectiveness. 21 turnovers, 18 assists in this series so far, shooting the ball really poorly, only 32% efficiency, 0 of 10 on threes in game three. But I think you can count on none of that for game four. It’s it’s a blank slate. Again, each of these games takes on its own life form. Thunder got to do a better job off of him in this game, period. Denver, for the second time in its playoff history, had four starters at 20 plus points in game three. So, Porter went off. Murray went off for as high in this series of 27. And and Aaron Gordon again was a nemesis to the Thunder. He’s been for every opponent in the postseason run. When he scores 22 or more historically for the Nuggets in the playoffs, this team’s 12-1. He had 22 again in game three. You talked about Porter and that’s by far the biggest jump. That was the biggest X factor in game three because he had really not provided much of anything throughout the first two games and it’s been rare so far in this postseason due to Michael working through an injury and I know he felt bad about that that he couldn’t really help his team and he certainly did in game three and you might keep an eye on him early in game four to see if he has found some kind of a rhythm. Yeah, because I I think you look at game three, Gideon, and there are times you just tip your hat to a guy that can be an outstanding shot maker, a lethal threat, especially from distance. He made some highly contested late shot clock threes in game three. You got to live with those. Those are plays in which you execute and you get trumped by the offense being a tad better. But from the Thunder standpoint, they want to make certain they get to Porter to force him to floor the ball. He’s still not comfortable with that shoulder injury, putting it on the deck. He had too many stationary catch and shoot threes that were availed themselves to him in game three that OKC wants to negate in game four. All right, Matt, for benefit of our listeners, what do we need to pay attention to in the broadcast of today’s game for Oklahoma City? There’ll be good signs for them against the Nuggets. Well, I mean, you can say shotmaking because it wasn’t there for the Thunder at critical moments in game three, but that’s too easy. I think it is bringing the energy full force for all 48. uh the recognition you got to execute at critical moments uh in game four which you’ve not done at pivotal moments in the series that’s why you’re down one two and I think for the Thunder find a way when you’re up six seven eight points which they generated with some frequency in game three to push that forward to go on a longer more extended run I think fatigue ultimately is a factor in this series have got to make it so in this game game four today Matt we appreciate the time as always enjoy the game today you too thank you coming up next Gallow is joined by our Thunder player exclusive. We’re going to hear from Jaylen Williams. Jay Will, you’re listening to Thunder Basketball. Thunder preparing for game four here in Denver against the Nuggets. And OKC down 2-1 in the series. A lot of series left here is I’ve got Jaylen Williams, J Will alongside me. And Jaylen, uh, you guys have had two hard-fought games. You’ve had a blowout win. You’ve had a bunch of different experiences now against this team. How much more familiar do you guys feel with with them and what they’re trying to do and uh maybe the confidence that you guys have moving forward to try to retake uh the series advantage in home in home court? Yeah. Um we’re super prepared. Um I feel like our coaches are putting us in great positions. Um it all comes down to us executing and um we know they’re a great team, but we’re a great team as well. And um we just got to go out there and play our brand of basketball. And that brand of basketball, it, you know, involves incredible defense, focus, tenacity. We’re continuing to see that. You know, it’s looked a little different each night in terms of the outcomes for different players on their team, but what’s a bit of the formula that you guys have been able to have uh early in these games to set the tone that you want cuz you all have had control over all three. Yeah. Um it’s about team defense really. Um they have a head of the snake over there and uh Joic and Jamal Murray and um it’s never one-on-one or one of our guys against one of their guys. It’s always our five against their five and our shell against their post up, whatever it is. And um when you have five guys out there that are willing to put their body on the line and be in the shell and communicate and do things like that, that’s when our defense looks our best. And you’ve been a big factor in that, particularly early in these games. you’re getting that kind of jolt early substitution around the 7-inute mark here over the last couple games. What’s that opportunity like for you as you jump into the fray? Yeah. Um I love the opportunity. I love to go out there and compete. Um coach trusts me to give me that assignment and and I I love it. I love it. I love being out there competing. I love being out there with my guys. Um it’s fun these playoff environments with loud crowds and the pressure in every moment. It’s it’s super fun to be out there competing. How about offensively? Where do you all see some strides that you can continue to take forward and and something Mark says is get better through the series? Yeah, just uh continue trusting what we do. Um shots didn’t really fall last game, but when you lean on what we’ve done throughout the whole year, you just got to trust it. And um as long as we don’t get away from what we’re used to and what’s got us to where we are, I feel like we’re going to be putting ourselves in a good position. Yeah. And one thing that Denver is doing is they seem to be going to quite a bit of zone and then they’re also just like really loading up heavy at the elbows. Uh what are some ways over the course of the season that you guys have learned in terms of counteracting that? Yeah. Um just playing as five. Uh we know that we have the MVP on our team and Shade one of the best scorers in the NBA. Um they’re going to have to load up on him. It’s never oneonone against him. And um us other four that on the court, we just have to help him out, set harder screens, hitting our shots, um creating space for him and um really just a team game on offensive side as well. Short turnaround. I think about 40 hours between game three and game four. You guys are are young. You’ve got energy. How excited are you all for the opportunity? You know, the the goal coming out here, you know, can you get, you know, one of these two and flip home court? Yeah, I’m super excited. Um playing in that that away crowd, that environment’s something that you dream of playing in. Just having a crowd yelling at you and and playing in those big moments. Um luckily that we’re both have the same uh both teams are having to have 40 hours in between the games. It’s not like we they get more rest than us. So, um we both got to go into this game. We got to go into this game with as much energy as we can um doing the things that we do. Should be a thrilling match up between two teams that are very familiar with each other. Good luck out there, J. Yeah, thank you. That’s Jaylen Williams. I’m Nick Gallo and this is Thunder Basketball. Here’s the voice of the Thunder, Matt Pinto now on the Oklahoma City Thunder Radio Network. find themselves in a one-two hole in their best of seven Western Conference semi-final series against Denver. After failing to finish strong in game three Friday, eventually fading in overtime in a 113 104 setback. While OKC’s defense held down Nicole Joic, it was Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr., and Aaron Gordon rising to propel the Nuggets within two victories of advancing. to get the equalizer in the series and reclaim homec court advantage with game five looming Tuesday in Oklahoma City. The Thunder will need sharper shooting full game focus and as SGA said closing the game in game four. Good afternoon. Welcome to Oklahoma City Thunder basketball the Western Conference semi-finals. It’s round two game four from Denver. I’m Matt Pinto perched high above courtside at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado with a play-by-play call. A critical one for the Thunder. Glad you’re along. Happy Mother’s Day to all of you moms listening this afternoon. The Thunder put together a strong road effort in many ways in game three of this Western Conference semi-final series against Denver on Friday. getting up 19 more shots than the Nuggets outscoring Denver inside 5632 14-7 in fast break points out rebounding this bow while as they have in all three games during the series leading the vast majority of the time ultimately coming up short due to poor shooting both overall and from three-point range and late game execution that faltered a bit based on their high standards. The Nuggets on the flip side kept the game close throughout despite many Thunder runs and then executed impeccably down the stretch. Outscored the Thunder 14-2 late in the fourth quarter through the overtime period to for the second time in this series pull one out late the lead two victories to one. It was a game in which Denver was fueled by four Nuggets scoring 20 plus points offensively. Second time it’s happened in their uh franchise playoff history. a defensive strategy that held Shay Gildas Alexander to seven of 22 shooting only 18 points. Also limited Chad Homegrrew had a big first half to two points scored from the third quarter on and those two came in overtime and Thunder made 38% of their shots overall from the field only nine of 35 threes. They’re a better offensive team than that. The Thunder know that. We’ll see if they can prove that in game four in this one. The other thing that came back to bite the Thunder was an inability to finish around the rim, especially late. They made just 26% of their points shots in the paint rather from the fourth quarter on in a game that came down to the wire ultimately that they fell uh in in overtime. They’re much more explosive than that. They’ve shown that this season. They’ve shown a comeback gene, a bounceback gene after losses. We’ll see if they can uh cobble that together to push into game four and come up with a win. This is a game in which OKC knows they’ve got to find a way to bring heightened energy. Very quick turnaround. Late game Friday, early start, 1:30 locally uh against the Denver team that is a veteran squad that plays a very limited bench. Can the Thunder take advantage of that during the full 48 minutes of game four? We’ll see. OKC played with desperation after losing game one, won game two by 43 at home. They’re in a similar boat today. Can they bring that same level of execution and energy to even this series at two apiece? We shall see. Game four upcoming from Ball Arena in Denver. Here’s the voice of the Thunder, Matt Pinto, on the Oklahoma City Thunder Radio Network. come to take on the Nuggets in the fourth game of this best of seven Western Conference semi-final series on a Sunday afternoon looking for the equalizer down two victories to one as they match up with the Nuggets at Ball Arena joined by head coach Mark Dnult and Mark it’s been an unusual series in that you guys have led the vast majority of it yet find yourselves in a oneame hole. Um how do you guard against that getting to you as you soldier on here into game four? Just embracing the challenges of the playoffs. you know, this is a a high level opponent that uh is battle tested and prideful and a good team. Um and so it’s not going to be easy. You can’t expect it to be easy at any point. And so it’s a great test for us. It forces us to pull together and stand up. Um we can’t change the past. Uh we can learn from those games, both uh you know, the things we can improve, but also the things that have put us in really good positions in this series. And we got to carry those lessons forward uh and get ourselves to zero and play our best game today. You said after game three that you’re looking to forge a great team. This is part of that process. Are the guys embracing that? You feel like they’re able to turn the page into game four today. Yeah, they’re the best at that. I mean, this is a group that’s got great competitive maturity, great resilience, great togetherness. That’s the last thing I worry about ever with this team. And so, uh, it’s just about framing that challenge for ourselves, understanding that, um, this is the proc first of all, this is the series we’re in. um this is where we are right now and this is the process that we have to go through to become a great team. It’s about throwing punches but it’s also about taking punches and so we took some punches uh in the first three games we threw some in game two we got to throw them today. Shay Gilles Alexander after game one said we’re playing with desperation in game two. Do you sense that about this group entering this game? Yeah and I thought we we had the right approach in game three. We knew coming off of uh that loss and them coming home that uh they were going to come in here ready to play and I thought we handled that very well. I mean we put ourselves in a very very good position. It was a possession game. It was a bit of a slo but we never let them uh land haymakers early in that game especially. So um the responses I think in each game have been really really good. And now it’s a matter of uh again getting present and playing our best game in game four. You did an incredible job in game three of getting to the paint. scored 56 in the paint and didn’t shoot well percentage-wise there, especially late in the game, Mark, and through overtime. Any adaptability you look to there to get cleaner looks around the rim or is is there anything that you look to build on from that? Some of them were just, you know, shots that we would expect to make. Uh, but I thought, you know, as a positive, we manufactured pretty good offense in a game where we didn’t shoot the three well, and they did. um for them to shoot the three as well as they did us to shoot it that poorly in that close of a game. We made up for that in a lot of really controllable areas. Transition offense and defense, the rebounding battle again, uh and the paint battle, you know, and so we were able to manufacture, um some offense on a night where our offense wasn’t great. That’s been the mark of us all season. We’ve been able to do that. Um we expect to shoot the ball better, you know, than we did in that game and we have to continue to do those controllable things and if we do that, we’ll have more of a grip on the game. Jaydub had extraordinary moments in game three. 32 points a career playoff high. Did you unlock some things for him given the attention Shay’s uh garnering from their defense as that game unfolded? Yeah, they they do a nice job of playing off each other. Uh Dub had a really good blend in that game. He got to the line. He made some threes. He, you know, had his mid-range going. He got to the rim. He just he kind of did it in a lot of different ways. And you know, it’s the culmination of all the work that he’s put in. He’s had a great playoffs. He didn’t have a great game one, but other than that, uh, he’s had a really good Memphis series in these last two games. He’s been outstanding. So, he’s really coming into his own for us. Um, you know, for our team, and we’re going to need him to continue to to take off here as we go into the latter part of the series. Your defense has been outstanding in this series in general. Really good as the series has gone on on Jookic. I don’t remember ever seeing him in sort of the bind he’s in right now, trying to figure things out. He acknowledged that after game three. Do you continue with the same approach against him? It seems to be working. and then do a bit better job fanning out to the other weapons they had. They had four 20 plus points in game three. Yeah, I mean they they steered to more like Murray pick and roll um because of that. I would expect them to continue to do that because Murray had a good game in game three. Um you know, it’s easier said than done with him. I mean, he’s a really tall task, but a lot of it comes down to like energy. We’re not doing anything. You’re not going to like trick him. You know, you’re not outsmarting him um as a team. And so, uh, it really comes down to, you know, physicality, energy, you know, just being really on it and sharp with our stuff. And we’ve done a nice job of that on him. That’s one of the real bright spots of the series so far. You expected they would change defenses often. They have. They showed a ton of zone in game three. Do you expect the same today? Yeah, I mean, the zone was even different from the one they showed in the first two games. So, different zone. They had a different man scheme. They did a lot more switching in that game and found some success with that. But I would expect them to stick with that part. But that’s been, I think, part of trying to throw the opponent off. Uh, and it’s also, I think, part of managing their own energy. They don’t play a lot of guys, and I think the zone allows them to sit down a little bit, uh, in the half court. And so, I would expect them to continue to go to that. As a final question, at a certain point in series, it becomes about will primarily, you know, so much about one another. the execution of the game plan obviously is is a high level priority, but are we to that point in this series, bringing will, bringing force to push this thing through? Yeah, I think that was certainly the case last game. You know, last game was a classic like playoff brawl, you know, low scoring possession battle, a lot of like loose balls, loose rebounds, physical, you know, it had all the markings of that. But every game’s different, you know, so you don’t go into the game anticipating anything per se. You just take the game as it comes. But, you know, certainly these are two teams that really want to win and you know, we’ll see what happens today. Good luck in game four, coach. Thanks, Matt. Brown had five fouls late in game three. Picks up his first on that surge by Alex. Caruso pretty levelheaded about the one, two, threeame deficit in this series. He says, “We like what we’re doing. Nicole holds on his right hip. Jay Will on him, dumps it low to Brown on the overplay over the top. Shay commits a frankly a lazy foul. Let Brown face cut him and picks up his second personal. More free throws for Denver cuz OKC’s over the limit less than four minutes into the quarter. So Christian Brown from the line is five of six. He has seven points to lead Denver and they’re going side out. The Thunder over the foul limit. rounds at the foul line recognizing that. So, is that a sign of fatigue? For sure. But maintaining focus and discipline are going to be pivotal for the Thunder to even this series this afternoon. Brown with the first. It’s on the way. Good. So, the charity the Nuggets are lapping up at the line are keeping them in the game. They’re not a 10 of 13 foul shooting, trailing 2716. Gildas Alexander sits down with a dozen. They’ve made seven more shots than the Nuggets in this game and yet their lead is five because Denver got to the foul line 11 a converting 11 of 12 here in the second quarter. Too much fouling by OKC. It’s been the equalizer in this game as at the two possession difference despite the Nugget deep wos offensively. Six of 32 shooting, one of 18 on threes and yet they’ve converted 15 of 18 free throws to trail by five 23 or I should say beg your pardon 33-28. Which way does this go from here? This is the Oklahoma City Thunder halftime show with Gideon Hamilton and Matt Raves, now on the Oklahoma City Thunder Radio Network. Hey, welcome in to the Oklahoma City Thunder halftime show. Gideon Hamilton along with Matt Ravis here inside our network studios. It’s halftime of game four in Denver where the Thunder in control of this one up 42-36 over the Denver Nuggets. And Matt, they got out to as big as a 15 point lead. And you kind of wonder where this burst is going to come from Denver because they haven’t really made a big run in this series yet. They haven’t had that flurry. And I talked with our producer Preston before the game and I said, you know, it’s g you would figure it’s going to happen at some point and then 10 minutes later they begin probably the worst stretch ever to begin a playoff game. So I don’t know if it’s going to happen tonight because this was I beyond abysmal. It is cataclysmic what happened for the Denver Nuggets in the first half. Did Oklahoma City have something to do with it? Yes. But I c I literally cannot count how many open shots that they missed in the first half. And eventually they just had to change strategy and tried to get fouled because and that’s what I would have done too cuz it’s just nothing is going in. Yeah. Uh man, it’s been it’s been brutal for for Denver. And to their credit, they didn’t just stick with it. Some teams have that philosophy. Some teams will will change it up. And I think smart players can sense that. Hey, um by the way, they didn’t break double digits until about the 950 mark of the second quarter. Double digits, which is crazy. It’s crazy. only eight points in the first half and I’m thinking, okay, they’re about to make three or four in a row here because usually that’s how it works. These guys are amazing. We see them at warm-ups and they barely ever miss. They hardly touch the rim. But um I did think they did something smart, which was get to the bucket um and uh get in the u into the bonus, get to the uh free throw line at at the very least give yourself some some makeable opportunities just so you can hang around in this game. And Denver, I say this with all due respect, that’s a group of cockroaches right there. Like they just don’t die. They hang around. And if you’re the Thunder, I think you I I hope I should say you don’t regret not slamming the door on Denver after they only scored eight points in that first quarter. Well, the thing for Oklahoma City is uh yes, the lead was trimmed from 15 to six, but they haven’t hit anything either. They’re also three of 22 from three-point range. So, you figure that changes a little bit in the second half as well. Dor is one of six. The rest of the starters are a combined 0 of seven. Alex Caruso knocked down two of three. The rest of the Oklahoma City lineup is um you know one of 19 from three-point distance. Now they were able to score in the paint and some of these again were created off of second chances. So Oklahoma City outscored the Nuggets at the rim 16-10. Almost all of those for Denver uh were points at the free throw line where they got fouled at the rim. And for the Thunder already nine offensive rebounds to six for Denver. They’ve outrebounded the Nuggets 32-23. So that dominance on the glass since game one is continuing. It It is. I want to go back to um what you said a second ago about Caruso. I did think those couple of threes that he had in both those came in pretty short order in the second quarter, those could be big just because Denver has not respected his shot. We’ve seen what they’ve been able to do, which is almost like a box and one defense at at times and they’ve continued some of this this zone that they’ve thrown out there in in guys like Cadet Caruso Dor. you know, you wonder why does Doran have so many three-point shots? It’s because Denver is giving him those looks. And um if you’re a guy like Caruso, you knock down a couple, I think Denver might have to might have to respect that a little bit more, which could open up the floor for for everybody else. But the the back to the the the second thing you said there, the rebounding advantage, you’re right, has continued. A lot of that is just u um you know, all the shots Denver has missed, but you do have to crowd those misses as well. Yep. Uh and Oklahoma City with some second chance opportunities off of Isaiah Hartenstein. Uh, everybody but Jay Dub has gotten at least one. Case Wallace had three offensive rebounds in the first half. He also had two steals. Dub had three, although the shot has kind of abandoned him so far. He’s one of six, 0 of three uh from distance in the first half, plus one overall. Homegrren has nine rebounds to lead all players in this game. He’s only two of six shooting though, four points and a turnover. Nobody in foul trouble necessarily. Jay Will picked up three quick ones off the bench. Even though Denver has gone to the free throw line 20 times with the change in strategy for them, Oklahoma City only has three other players that have two. So, nobody’s in any real danger there. The the game within the game and especially this series, it feels like so much more important is you have to calibrate what the whistle is going to be. You have to figure out what it is. And I I thought the whistle was inconsistent in the first half. I’m not getting after any any one official. Um and and I definitely didn’t think it was one-sided. I just thought that it was super inconsistent both ways. So, that’s where you have to be mentally strong. Denver has been able to prove that. I think Oklahoma City needs to needs to show that as well where even if the calls go seemingly against you and again, I thought it it hit both sides. Um, it it was a it was a strange whistle in in the first half. So, you I hope from some more consistency from the the officials, but if you’re one of the players, uh, you got to figure out what you know, what is acceptable and what is what is not. Coming up next, we’ll talk about what’s being said right now in the Denver locker room. And conventional wisdom is you shoot better than you did in the first half, but conventional wisdom uh rarely applies when you play against the Oklahoma City Thunder. It might just be another one of those historic record-breaking performances of the last couple of years that the Thunder have put together. It’s 4236 OKC at the break. You’re listening to the Thunder halftime show. With just seconds on the clock, I’m chomping at the bit here, Frank. I’m telling you, this is a moment in basketball history to really relish in. Back at the offensive end, Kenchup mustards up all his strength and squeezes down into the paint. He breaks through the screen, post up with buns out, catches the ball, and up and he’s called for the double drizzle. Just get your hot dog and let’s get back to our seats. Pete Schwab, the official hot dog of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Stevie next. One special night, October 15th. Paycom center. [Music] Tickets on sale now at ticketmaster.com. Don’t miss Stevie Nicks live at Paycom Center. Welcome back to the Thunder halftime show. Gideon Hamilton along with Matt Ravis here inside our network studios. Oklahoma City on pace to even this series at two games a piece. They have a 4236 lead over the Denver Nuggets at the break. And uh Matt for Denver. Michael Porter Jr. has not made a shot 0 of four. Uh one of those was contested. The other ones were wide open. Nicole Joic two of nine. He continues to struggle with his shot, making only that buzzerbeating three-point shot. He’s now one of his last 14. Murray is one of six. Westbrook is one of eight. And look, I I know that this is very rare that you see teams shoot that poorly. And that’s why you start to lean toward, well, eventually these guys have to make shots, don’t they? One, against the Thunder, we know that’s not true. And number two, if they make seven of their next 12 shots, they’re going to be shooting 30% for the game. And that’s and that’s still not good enough to win a playoff game, I feel. So I I I think they could overcorrect to a pretty strong degree. And I I kind of think the damage has already been done here. I think they wasted an opportunity and just missed too many shots. It it certainly could be that way, but I I get the sense if the Thunder doesn’t land the Haymaker at some point in this third quarter and have a a big run that gives them a very very comfortable lead where Denver all of a sudden has to start pressing a little bit and really really feeling uncomfortable because I think it’s difficult to make Denver uncomfortable. Um you need to find some some more offense. And hey, 25 points in the second quarter, Denver did outscore you by by three, but the Thunder were able to find a little bit more of the level. But the longer I I think you let this Nuggets team hang around, the better chance that the Nuggets have to win cuz they’re really comfortable in in in scenarios like that. Well, what are David Adelman and the boys saying to each other uh about hanging around? How do they do that? And look, I I know on the Denver halftime show, it’s like, “Oh my gosh, can you believe this? You couldn’t have shot the ball any worse and you’re still in this game. You feel good about that.” And maybe that’s how they feel in the locker room. But, you know, just from a strategic standpoint, do you say, “Hey, I like the shots we’re getting. they just didn’t go in. Maybe they’ll go in the the third quarter. Or do you kind of stay with plan B and say, “Hey, continue to be aggressive, try to get to the line.” I think there’s got to be probably a sweet spot there, right? I think that you can continue to hunt your shot and not be the three-pointer and not be uh scared to shoot that, but uh I I also thought getting to the the bucket and getting to the free throw line, getting the thunder and the bonus really worked for for Denver. So, yeah, just hang around in that game if if you’re Denver, you’re saying that and we we you would feel like the shots would start falling for you. Joic with six of his 11 at the free throw line. Christian Brown with seven of his 11 at the free throw line. You notice a trend there is these guys just could not make any shots whatsoever. Three. Both teams three of 22 from three. But the Thunder shooting a spectacular 34% to Denver’s 21% eight of 38 in the first half. Shields Alexander is the only Thunder player to score in double figures in the first half. He’s got 15 on five of 11 shooting. Coming up next, Matt Pinsel will have the call of the second half. You’re listening to Thunder [Music] [Applause] [Music] Basketball. Hey, this is Brian Gelzer. Welcome back. The Thunder lead the Nuggets by six at the break. Let’s send you back to Denver. Here with call the second half is Matt Pinto. Mark Dnult has said in this series that the Thunder challenges in this process against a team with a championship pedigree that refuses to lose. They get resourceful. They find ways as they did to survive round one in seven games against the Clippers and have shown that medal here in this series will benefit his team in building a great squad. I think the first half is a testament to that. Thunder up by only six at halftime despite the Nuggets making eight of 38 shots because Denver got to the foul line 20 times in that first half. 14 of those in the second quarter and after initially calling the Jokic shot a two on the court validated by the initial replay as a two they have changed it to a three. So it’s a six-point game rather than seven at 4236. I’m going to say the same thing I said after we came out of halftime of game number three on Friday. Nuggets have to go great about where they are. They’ve not played well offensively at all. Thunder have not shown great discipline defensively, allowing Denver 20 free throws through the first half, getting up 11 fewer foul shots themselves, converting 10 fewer. And despite out rebounding the Nuggets 32-23 in the half, getting up nine more shots than Denver from the field, making seven more. OKC’s lead is only two possessions. Shay leads the way with 15. Thunder points in the game, six rebounds, and two assists. Caruso nine off the bench including two threes. Jokic has 11. Brown 11 for Denver. Thunderball to begin the third quarter as they shoot at the basket to my left in the second half. Needing win to even this series at 2-2 and reclaim homecourt advantage. A Denver win puts them on the brink of an upset in this series. A 3-1 advantage going back for game five to Oklahoma City Tuesday. Hardenstein, SGA, Jay Dub, Lou Dort, Chad Homegrren the five for the Thunder. Dub has had a very cool performance based on what he did here on Friday, erupting for 32. He’s been held to two thus far. One of six shooting, 0 of three on threes. Neither side has been able to knock down open three-pointers. Denver’s three of 22 from distance, as is Oklahoma City in a game in which Thunder bled throughout by as many as 15, but Denver closed the half strong. And if momentum is such a thing, bridging the second from the third quarter, uh they have that entering the third because they are eating into what was a 15-point deficit at one point. And the history of this series creeps in at some point if this becomes a closer game in the second half. A lot’s been made of the experience difference between these two. And Mark Dagnel says, “Hey, we can’t have experiences until they come up for us.” Under activating the attack as Shay works right at the paint, jump passing down Lane. Hartstein strip going up by Porter. Loose ball. Jokic. No foul. Nicole guarded by Homegrren as Hartinstein and Porter are back in the play now. Michael Fed up top. Pump faking. Steps away. Gives to Joic straight away from 20 ft. 10 to shoot. Nicole faces up on Hartinstein. Seven to shoot. Holding on his left hip, grinding left, pushing off, pulls up. 15oot jumpers on the way. No good. Homegrren has the rebound. Another double figure rebounding effort. His fourth of the playoffs. His 10th. Shay barrels right on Brown. Lays it up across his body. Rolls off and he’s fouled on route. Nice job by the Thunder finding space in the open court. That’s been at a premium in this game. They’ve made only 33% of their shots thus far with only nine assists and it turned the ball over the same number of times as Denver, eight. Brown committing the foul, his second. And to the line goes SGA. Five of six in game four. The Thunder Seven of Nine as a unit. Denver 17 of 20 from the strike. SGA rebounding from a tough game three. Strokes the free throw. It rolls around no good. He has 15 points thus far. I’ll tell you what, when you score in this game, you have to celebrate because it’s just been few and far between. Defensive grinder to the mth degree. 4236 Thunder. Shay makes it 4336 knocking down the second foul shot. So Homeman has 10 rebounds. Thunder have only one in double figures at Shay was 16. Jokic and Brown 11 a piece for Denver. Nugget ball down seven. High post right. Gordon fed back to the basket. down feeds back door to Porter. Dunks very poorly defended possession there. Michael Porter up top has his first bucket of game four. Thunder lead is five down the lane. Hartinstein leans in, lobster right back at you. Two hand big time remrocker. Big to big on that alley dish. Hardenstein roam the left baseline and Hartstein a terrific passer as his second assist. Chad breaking through for his fifth and six points. Thunder back up seven. Yic high post left. bounce feeds to Gordon back to the basket looking to Porter again. Same play instead comes to Yic out front. Strums an unguarded angle right three that he buries. Nobody within five feet. 4541 Denver within four and Joic finding a stroke. Two threes in the last few minutes. Dub right baseline guarded by Murray. Shadowed on a double by Joic in the paint. Spins and fades. His fadeaway 16T jumper is short. Not close. Porter has the miss as Denver Concrete closer in midcourt. Murray jammed by Dub. can’t surge free, retreats, gets a high pick from Joic left, works behind it, swooping to the baseline on the run, scoops, can’t score, but he’s fouled on route. 4541 the Nuggets tracking back to virtually even as Murray goes back to the free throw line where he is three of four in the game. Denver attempting its 21st and 22nd foul shots to 11 for Oklahoma City. Thunder committed 15 personal fouls in this game. I can’t argue many of them. And there just has been a lack of discipline defensively from the Thunder. Murray trekking through a tough day. Has five points. Give him six. And the Nuggets from 15 back within three. 4542. The theme continues in this series. Thunder build leads. They can’t hang on to them. And we’ll see if they have the fortitude to find a way in game four on the road to forge the deadlock at 2-2 before returning home. Murray a 90% foul shooter in the playoffs. Hits both. So Denver is 19 of 22 from the line, 86%. Thunder eight of 11, 72%. Two-point game. So does Alexander drives to the foul line. Draws two. Nearly lost the dribble. He does. Gets it back. Squeezed. Hooks the ball to Hartinstein. Alioops again to Homer. This time a one hand right hand sledgehammer that’s opened against that zone and the Thunder exploited it consecutively as Homer with backto-back dunks has eight. 4743 Thunder. It’s tight. 945 left. Third quarter in game four in Denver. Joic out front to Porter lobbing high post. Gordon same play. Dean Joic pump faking barreling spinning on the wing to Murray. Jab stepping Dort shovels low left to Yokic for to shoot. Drop steps comes to the rim. Reverse layup. No good. Well defended by Hart. Signed rebounds out letting left to dub. One-on-one on Gordon down the lane. Barrel stripped and foul going up by either Gordon or Brown as Jdub showed a fearless attack there. And the Thunder get benefit of a foul call. If it’s Brown, it’s his third. And it is in a 4743 game. So Jayd Dub first time to the foul line in game four. He exploded in game three for 32 including 16 in the fourth quarter. Well, despite the game one loss by two to Denver in this series, OKC won two close ones on the road in Memphis in round one, by six in game three, by two in game four. Looking to replicate those efforts as they battle to reclaim home advantage in this series, down 2-1, up three right now with 436 to play in a game that’s featured neither team sniffing 40% field goal shooting. Under at 35%, the Nuggets 31, and neither close to 30% three-point shooting. A defensive battle royale under forced the Nuggets into an 0 of7 three-point fourth quarter while they’ve made three of five threes in the fourth outscored Denver 18-9 in the frame to lead by three as plays about to resume with Murray Brown Porter Joic and Gordon for the Nuggets against Caruso SGA JDub Hardenstein and Homegrid as Caruso forces a 5sec count violation against Denver with smothering fullcourt pressure. And Mark Dagnel opting with 315 to play to utilize a challenge. The foul was called on Caruso to play as a challenge by Oklahoma City. So they’ll go to replay here. Tony Brothers and Shawn Wright on headset with aids from Sikus, New Jerseyy’s NBA replay center as they’ve run the replay. I did not see the call. Here it is. And I’m not sure that that’s a foul. Caruso came close to Joic. may have hit him in the hip slightly, but did that knock Joic off stride or was it inconsequential contact? We’re watching the replay overhead now. OKC managing 84 points to lead by four from eight back in the fourth. Squandering a 15-point second quarter lead in a game that they want to have. They need homec court back to give themselves the upper hand in the series. They know that. Falling into a one- hole historically is hardly advantageous for a team doing it. Tony Brothers and Shawn Wright continue to debate the whistle here as I’ll tell you this, there is no way that what Caruso did should have knocked Yic off balance to the degree that he displayed. Thunder at 36% shooting in this game. The Nuggets 31 12%. Again, all the numbers tilt to the Thunder aside from allowing 30 free throws attempting 22 themselves and giving up 24 makes to 16 themselves. There in lies the rub and 14 of those free throws for the Nuggets came in the second quarter of this game when they battled out of a 15-point hole. 315 to play. You look at this play, an approximate foul could be called on Gordon in the fight for that loose ball as he knocked Caruso off balance himself. So, we’ll see how this unfolds. This is an interesting call as Caruso got knocked off the play by Gordon his body. Here’s Tony Brothers, the crew chief with the decision. After review, there is contact with the hand with a push, also contact to the knee on the play. Therefore, the challenge is unsuccessful. There will be two shots for Jokic plus possession of the ball. Oklahoma City will lose their timeout and the ability to challenge the rest of the game. So, both sides have two timeouts left, 315 remaining. Boy, for a guy that’s 6’11, well over 280 lbs, I can’t imagine being knocked off balance to the degree he embellished that contact, but he gets benefit of it. He’ll attempt his 13th and 14th free throws of game four. Thunder have tried 22 themselves as a unit. Draw your own conclusions. 315 left. Yogic’s 25 leading Denver. Thunder pace by Sha’s 23. Been an outstanding foul shooter as he spins the ball in front of him and snaps off the first. It’s up no good. Three straight Nugget misses at the line. How about that? Murray Gordon Brown and Russell Westbrook Thunder by five. 8883 inbounding near sideline front court. 21.2 left. Alice giving the ball. Here we go. Gets it into Dub driving left down the lane. Foul by Westbrook from behind with 20 seconds to play. Not a lot of time off the clock there. I’m not sure that the clock operator didn’t doze there for a minute. dubbed to the free throw line where he’s two of two. Just a rough go for him in this game. He scored four points as Westbrook is fouled out. Five assists, three rebounds for Jaylen Williams. He scored a big bucket earlier this quarter and steps to the line for two big ones here. What is it they say the first team to 90 wins? They say 100, but that’s not going to happen. So, I’m going with 90. 20 seconds left. OKC 88, Denver 83. As Dub dribbles once, now a second time. Eyes the rim, bends his knees, dips, shoots, swishes. Thunder showing metal, showing poison polish as the least experienced team of these two down the stretch on the road to get the series even, leading 8983. This would separate the two by three possessions. This is the big one in this sequence. Jaylen with the same routine, snaps off the foul shot. Looks good and it is under 91. The Nuggets 83 Denver Burns its final timeout. What a tremendous effort by OKC confronting considerable adversity. A 15-point lead squandered down by eight. The building the Nuggets are field early in the fourth quarter. Then OKC dug in defensively and they got a cluster of threes from reserve. Kase Wallace two big ones in the fourth quarter. Aaron Wiggins two big ones in the fourth quarter. Alex Caruso’s been big off the bench as well. Thunder have gotten eight of 18 three-point shooting from reserves. Only two of 23-point shooting from starters. That’s the definition of a team. This has been the ultimate team all season on route to the best record in the NBA 6814 and the number one seed in the West. They have outscored the Nuggets 2714 in the fourth of game four. Putting the narrative of youth and inexperience being a deciding factor in the series to bed for now. What a response by Oklahoma City, a team that’s 13 and2 pending the outcome here off of losses. You can’t get any better than that. Gildness Alexander answering the bell with 23 points, six rebounds, and five assists in this game. He also has a steal. Thunder coming up with nine steals, forcing 14 turnovers for 18 points. They look to stop the Nuggets up seven with Homegrren, Caruso, Hartinstein, SJ, and JDub. Denver out of timeouts with Gordon, Joic, Murray, Brown, and Porter inbounding far sideline. Michael gets it in wide left to Murray. Hounded by Caruso. High post left Gordon 15 holding retreating. 13 seconds left. Gordon jumped at by Caruso swiping at him. Gordon eight and shoot. Caruso strips him and he’s called for a reachin foul. 8.8 left on the clock. And the question becomes, are they giving Gordon three free throws? I don’t think he was in the shooting motion. Alex got his hand caught in the cookie jar after outstanding pestering defense enabling 12 seconds to elapse from the clock. Caruso with his fifth foul. Gordon to the free throw line. One of two. Has 11 points, 16 rebounds in this one. Eyes the rim, snaps off the first. It’s up no good. He missed again. So, the Nuggets have left a lot to be desired at the foul line. Maybe a sign of fatigue. Who knows? They are two of seven foul shooting in the fourth quarter and 25 of 35 in the game. Gordon giving the ball for the second. 8.8 to play. They’re fouling out at Ball Arena as Denver’s three-game playoff win streak’s about to end. Gordon’s second free throw is up. That one’s good. They’re giving him three foul shots. That’s an absolute joke. There’s no way he was in a shooting motion on the reach in by Caruso. He’s got one more. Thunder by six. 90 to 84 as Gordon’s made two of four from the line. The Nuggets 26 of 36. Gordon spins the ball in front of him. Joic in the lane early. He throws it off the iron and the free throw is negated because Jookic commits a lane violation with 8.8 to play as the officials are conferring. What is the call here? There’s going to be a jump ball at midcourt. Why? Joic stuck his foot in the lane long before the free throw was shot by Gordon. That’s a lane violation. How is there a jump ball here? But there is. Hardenstein’s going to take it against Joic with 8.8 8 to play and his team up 90 to 84. Dendr out a timeouts. Balls in the air. Joic steals the tip to Gordon. Aaron up the right side. Crosses over on the dribble. 4 seconds. Fires from the wing. A three ball that he banks in. 9087. 1.6 left. And the Thunderburn their final timeout. What an egregiously awful sequence given this threeperson officiating crew. How is a lane violation on Jokic meriting a jump ball at midcourt? And then Gordon slings up a prayer from the right wing and banks it in over Hartstein. Three-point game at 9087. It’s not over yet. 1.6 left. We’ll take time. This is Thunder Basketball. Thinking a getaway? Let your taste buds take a trip with Braum’s new Aloha Burger Crave and Save Combo. This dill includes a double cheeseburger stacked with two juicy hamburger patties, melty proolone, fresh grilled pineapple, crisp spinach, ripe tomato, and Braum’s signature dipping sauce. All on a sweet Hawaiian bun fresh from Brahms Bakery. Pair it with Braum’s golden crinkle cut fries and a hand dipped milkshake. All for just $8.89. Now that’s a deal we’re saying aloha to. 10 round of timeouts as are the Thunder now in a 9087 game. The Nuggets have scored the game’s last four to make it a one-possession difference. Not over yet. It’s Joic, Gordon, Brown, Murray, and Porter deploying defensively for Denver. Thunder will inbound near sideline front court. They’ve got to get it inbounds unscathed and then anticipate a lot of contact and a foul. Caruso to trigger as Homegrren, Wallace, JDub, and SGA with him. Alice given the ball near sideline. Nuggets play it five on four. Ball comes to Dub. Grabbed by either Brown or Joic. One second to play. And if Dub knocks down one of two, it’s academic and over. And really with one second to play, it’s hard to imagine a sequence that would favor this game doing anything other than working to double zeros with the Thunder winning game four. Dub four of four at the line. Exactly 1 second left in game four. Nothing easy in the playoffs ever. Dub dribbles twice. Eyes the rim, bends his knees, dips, shoots, swishes. It’s over. 9187 Thunder. What a rally on the road. Recognizing the stakes in this game. In game four. Jaylen a rough night scoring, but he’s come up big in the fourth with five nine points in the game. He strokes a second. That’s perfect. 9287 Thunder. Porter lobs to Yic. He fires an 80 footer. It’s over in Denver. The Thunder have reclaimed homec court advantage in this best of seven Western Conference semi-final series. Doing it with grit, goal, resilience, and tenacity from eight down in the fourth quarter. They strike big late 2918. They outscore the Nuggets in the fourth to win game four 9287. Home court restored. They head home now for a matchup in game five on Tuesday at 8:30 with this Nugget squad and a chance to grab their first lead of this series on a home court that’s been so favorable to them. A 35-6 homec court record in the regular season, the best in the NBA. Thunder have split the first two at home against the Nuggets. But uh what a gritty effort in a game that saw really neither team established consistent offense. OKC’s bench was stellar as they outscored Denver’s reserves 35 to8. We’ll be joined by a Thunder player here in a matter of moments downstairs as uh they’re bringing over Kase Wallace for us. Queso was tremendous. A career playoff high for him with 11 in this game as he puts on the headset to join me. Casey, can you hear me? Okay. Yes, sir. Hey, congratulations. What an outstanding effort by you guys from eight down early in the fourth. The buildings against you. The Nuggets are showing confidence offensively. What was key to you rallying to outscore them 2918 in the fourth and winless? Uh just sticking together. you know, we they went on a run and, you know, it’s a game of run. So, us, you know, playing through that and and just staying with it. Your bench was stellar in this game. Your reserves outscored Denver subs 35 to8. You scored a career playoff high 11. Showed no hesitation, knocking down three clutch three-pointers in this game. You also had two steals. Kase, what level of maturation are you taking on now in your second season, your second experience of the playoffs? Um, I’m just letting the game uh come to me. I’m not, you know, trying to rush anything. Um, not hunting anything. Just letting the game speak to me. How tough is this Denver team with their championship pedig pedigree? Have you been surprised at all by their uh competitiveness and the way they’ve dug in in this series? Uh, not at all. We knew they were going to come with it. So, um, us just sticking to who we are and coming with it ourselves, that’s all it’s going to take. What’s turned the tide on the boards? The first game they were plus 20 in rebounds. You won the battle every time since. has that become a priority for you in this series as a team? Uh, definitely. That’s that’s something big for every game. Um, not just this one. That’s what we’ve been preaching all year. So, uh, that’s something that we needed to clean up game one. I know you love challenges. Guys like Jamal Murray, Russell Westbrook for them, uh, Christian Brown. Are you embellishing every moment competing against those guys? Uh, for sure. You know, that’s what the playoffs is about, taking on tough challenges, and I’m uh, I’m going to step up to each one of them. So, where does this sit for you in terms of experiences so far in the NBA, Kase, being so instrumental in this comeback win for your team? Uh, it was great. You know, I’m a I’m going remember this one for a while, you know. Um, it was a big [Music] Higher. Higher. [Music] [Music] I feel aha. How it’s supposed to [Music] feel? How supposed to feel? Never break, always fight. Never quit. Do it right. Play the game. Winning life. Have no shame. There’s no time. Feel the pain of the grind. I could change in my mind. Pick a lane. Commit and climb. The only way to win in life. I never miss that fact. Taking big swings. Your hand. Put me in the ring. You’ll go out in a bag. Cuz I sing what I mean and I bring it to the nightlight. Ain’t got time to kill, I got time to fail. I took a red pill. I know life’s short so I want to live real, but how’s it supposed to feel? To feel [Music] feel. How’s it supposed to [Music] feel? About to unpack all these dreams I’ve been chasing. I’ve got visions in my head. Like memories after death to be a legend instead of something you can forget. I’m living up every breath. But I don’t give a [ __ ] I keep chasing. I got all this potential. It’s deep inside of me. But they hate when you’re successful cuz they tried to be. They sit there being just mental because you’re trying things. And they just want you to settle and do the right thing. So get a good job, don’t slack off. Wake up every morning, make a good impression on your boss. Don’t do anything that I wouldn’t do. And when you’re making money, make sure you don’t spend it too soon. [ __ ] that. I’ll do what I want to do. I got a different path from everyone. And that includes you. Who are you to tell me how to live life? In these times, it feels like nobody is right. Yeah. So I’mma figure out what else we succeed and then invest all of my time into that and proceed. I need whatever the hell could make me happy. And I don’t think you have a clue. What could that be? They tell me that I’m never going to make it. They want me to do something that can make sense. They hate when I keep dreaming I’ll be famous, but I don’t give a [ __ ] cuz I keep chasing. They tell me that I’m never going to make it. They want me to do something I can make sense. They hate when I keep dreaming I’ll be. But I don’t give a [ __ ] I keep chasing. Think this life could be special if I get rid of the devils. They think that I am a rebel. I think they want me to settle. There’s nobody on my level. They think that work is too stressful. I think that work is essential. The grind is all in your mental. And I don’t think you understand what I’ll go through just to be in control of my life soon. All the negativity, man. I’m immune. I don’t really need a mask with all I’ve been through. I’ve been making changes for the ages. Five 10 year plans are contagious. I attack [ __ ] I’m tenacious and if you rank, get the [ __ ] out of my way then. Got one life, I won’t regret it. I will fight until I get it. I’ll look back one day from heaven and say, “Damn, I learned some lessons.” And say, “Damn, I had no questions. I had fun in every second and the journey was a blessing.” Yeah. They tell me that I’m never going to make it. They want me to do something that can make sense. They hate when I keep dreaming I’ll be famous, but I don’t give a [ __ ] I keep chasing. Yo, go go go go go. Hustle lot. I every single day I’ll be making moves till I’m buried in my grave through the system. I don’t want to be a slave. I’ll be doing [ __ ] my way or the highway and in the driveway is a nice range cuz I grind through the climb. I invite pain and everything you [ __ ] now I don’t complain. Just got to flip the switch and you can go and obtain anything you want, anything you need. Your mind’s got the key ingredient is belie. But I just slide right by that energy. Even when you feel low, you can still go. Even when you feel slow, you can still go. Even when there’s no hope, you can still go. I never answer the no, man. I still go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go go. You got a mind but even that could change. You could flip the gray matter like some batter in your brain. That’s why they say fake it till you make it. A and if you play that game then you just might make a change. Rearrange all the bad to okay. Take the worst saying turn them to a game. Take the best thoughts saying put them on display on repeat in your brain till you’re feeling no more pain. Never slow yourself down you can do some more. Push past all the pain and you find a door. Open it up and finally explore everything that you thought you could never do before. And even when you feel low, you can still go. Even when you feel slow, you can still go. Even when there’s no hope, you can still go. I never answer no. And I still go go. I know we still go. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Yeah. Yeah.
