The Trail Blazers Are Finally Getting SOLD!!
Shout out to those of you who joined our draft lottery live stream yesterday powered by Bet US. If you were there, you know the disappointment was palpable. It was a very disappointing day. The Blazers were one number off from getting Cooper flag just like they were one number off from getting Victor Wbonyama. And it just seemed like just another thing to torture us Blazer fans. You know, the this past season, it was a good year. The Blazers win 36 games. They exceed expectations. They exceed their projected win total by about 15 wins. And what’s the reward for that? Not a playin, not any extra basketball. Instead, worse odds for the number one overall pick. And then if that isn’t bad enough in terms of the lottery, the lottery absolutely screws the Blazers where the Dallas Mavericks, the spot below the Portland Trailblazers, they jump up and get the number one overall pick, which I’ve never said that the draft lottery is rigged. It’s ran by an independent accounting firm. I I still don’t really think it’s rigged, but at this point, I can’t blame you if if you do because apparently if you trade away a star to the Los Angeles Lakers, you get rewarded with a number one overall pick. And that kind of pissed me off. Not only that, the San Antonio Spurs, who have gotten lucky year after year after year in the draft lottery, also get lucky once again and move up from 8 to two. And now, I think they’re going to be the front runner to trade for Jiannis Santakoopo. And for Blazer fans, this is just hit after hit after hit. When is it our turn to get lucky? I woke up today pretty just still disappointed, pretty upset, still feeling the sting of the draft lottery. And it wasn’t something where I thought the Blazers were going to move up. They had slim odds to do so. But just the fact that the Dallas Mavericks got the number one overall pick and the San Antonio Spurs got the number two overall pick just made it 10 times worse for me. So, I was in a bad mood today. Uh, I’m still concerned about the Blazers future. I’m still worried about their intentions to contend long term. And then we got hit with news that the Blazers are finally going to start the process of a sale. The Paul G. Allen estate, Vulcan and Co. are finally finally going to start the process to sell the team. And this was the perfect antidote, the perfect medicine after a rough Monday. This Tuesday is a good day, man, because I’ve lamented the way this team has been ran the past five years or so. I’ve lamented this ownership group. I don’t like how invert seems to be. Joe Cernin had some comments in his exit interview a month ago talking about how the team and Bert Cold have weekly check-ins and it was just kind of a weird comment. I don’t remember the specifics of it. It’s been a month. But Bert Cold, there’s been rumors that he’s too involved and then the Blazers, you know, are they really willing to spend and do they just want to get back to an eight seed in the playoffs and that’s what this rebuild was all about. My biggest critique of this organization has been the rebuild feels like it’s kind of half-hearted and mostly just to get back to hopefully getting a little bit of playoff revenue as an eighth seed. Even though they wouldn’t contend, it seemed like it was playoffs above future contention for this rebuild. I I’ve been someone who is willing to wait it out, is willing to deal with the sting of a rebuild if the plan is long-term to contend. And that hasn’t felt like the case from this ownership group. But if the team’s getting sold, that doesn’t matter anymore. If the team’s getting sold, you got a completely new ownership group coming in. Hopefully they would have uh more ambitious intentions, but at least it would just be a fresh slate. At least it would be a fresh set of hands on this organization. Um a new ownership group that could do things their way and maybe run the team a little bit better or do some things a little bit better. And if not, at least, you know, we have the we have the chance for it. I don’t know, man. I’m just happy that the Blazers are finally going to get sold. I’m happy that the Blazers are going to have a new ownership group. I don’t know how fast it’s going to happen. I don’t know when the sale is going to happen. These things are pretty complex and could take some time. But we’ve been sitting here wondering for almost a decade. It feels like what six, seven years since Paul Allen passed away. We’ve been sitting here wondering when a sale was going to happen. There was, you know, talk about how Jody has to sell the team, Vulcan has to sell the team, but there didn’t seem to be much of a trigger on making that happen. And billion multi-billion dollar estates like what Paul Allen had are uh very complex things. I don’t know much about it, but wondered when this time was going to come. And the news came today from Shams Shirania. So, I’m ecstatic. I’m excited to see what a new ownership group could bring to this team. Um, we’ve critiqued some things Joe Cronin has done. I think this is a very important offseason for him. I think he can kind of, I don’t know, put to bed some of the criticisms we’ve had of him the past four years. We didn’t like the Chanty Bellips extension, but hopefully he’ll improve next year. But the biggest deal breaker for me with this current ownership group was it just seems like they were content with mediocrity. And I am not content with that. They seem like they were content just getting back to being a seventh or eighth seed next year. And I’m not content with that. I want this team to contend for championships long term. I’ve never seen any of my favorite teams ever win a championship. I’ve never seen the Blazers win a Western Conference Finals game. At least they’ve gotten there, I guess. But that’s kind of a non-competitive attitude. I want to see this team actually compete and contend at the highest level. It didn’t feel like that was ever going to happen under Jody Allen, Burke Cold, and Vulcan. Maybe it won’t happen under a new ownership group, but at least we get a fresh set of eyes. And at least we get an a new ownership group at some point. Hopefully, it happens soon. I don’t expect it to happen soon, but at least they’re finally officially starting the process. These playoffs have been phenomenal, man. I I wish the Blazers were a true contender right now because the postseason seems wide open. The playoffs, there’s a level of parody to the playoffs that we haven’t seen in a while. You’re probably going to get the Knicks and Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals. And then you got the Timberwolves probably making it. They’re up 3-1 against the Warriors. Let me know which series has surprised you most. Shout out to Bet US for the graphic. If you want to get in on the action with Bet US, use promo code YouTube150. It’ll give you a 150% deposit bonus and then two 125% deposit bonuses on top of that. Up to 2,000 bucks if you want to get in on playoff action. Uh, great sports book. I don’t know what series has surprised me the most. probably the Knicks versus the Celtics because the Knicks have beaten the Celtics at full strength and now the Celtics won’t be at full strength. Uh hopefully Jason Tatum heals up soon. That did not look good. Uh but let me know which series has surprised you the most out of these four. You know, it’s it’s you got the underdogs and the Knicks and Pacers winning and you got the Nuggets and Thunder tied up at two to two. Hopefully hopefully in future years when we’re talking about the second round and have a graphic like this, hopefully the Blazers can be on it and maybe a new ownership group could could uh guide the Blazers there. I don’t know. Anyway, let me know what you think of this news today. Let me know what you think about the Blazers potential sale. Let me know if you’re excited about it. Let me know your thoughts on Jody Allen, Burke Cold and Company. Shout out to Bet US. We’re out of here. We’ll have a live stream on Thursday going live between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m. Pacific time. Texas and The Southern States are $$$ to the NBA
This is the best possible news a blazer fan could receive especially after the lottery yesterday. Hoping we can draft Collin Murray Boyles or someone like that and then get rid of JG, DA, ANT, and unfortunately probably Rob.
Thank god
The mood whiplash from last night to this morning 🤣
Finally, some good news! I don’t think there’s really a risk of jinxing anything by saying this: This sale will change everything in positive way, cause to celebrate
Hopefully the owner changes the name to the Los Angeles Portland Trail Blazers so we can finally have something rigged in our favor.
Okay this has been so overstated. Literally 6 teams were a number off
Why did they extend Cronin and Chauncey if they planned to sell?
Beyond excited the team is being sold.
Haven’t they been up for sale years now?
Chauncey and Joe cronin somehow get fired instantly
GASP!
Best news in a while
Finallly!!
A day 7 years in the making. Congrats my friends. 🍾
It's rigged
My stepdad was the VP of a small insurance firm that had Nike as one of their accounts, back in the mid 70's, as Nike was getting off the ground. I only got a chance encounter with Phil and a brief "Hi.", but he was by all accounts a nice guy, and he gifted us with several pair of early Nikes that were awesome. The Eugene area was a hotbed of field and running sports, back then. Time can change people, I reckon, but I am on Team Phil also 🙂
Vancouver BC Blazers? Kansas City Blazers? San Diego Blazers? What sounds good Blazers fans?
I just think winning a championship is so friggin hard and you have to have so many things fall favourably in your way from draft lottery to then drafting right, then developing the pick to max potential, fit with the team, making smart trades to build, having the right coaching staff etc etc etc etc….. and THEN you can have your top franchise guy tear his Achilles in the playoffs and kill everything you’ve don’t to build… so with that said and despite the fact that I’m personally a hyper competitive person I think the blazers including team, ownership and us fans just need to enjoy having a team which can compete for a playoff spot in what is probably the most competitive conference of all time in the sport. It’s awesome to see our guys flourish and having a team identity formed behind the leadership of Chauncey. Let’s just enjoy the uprising of our lads and if some better luck down the road comes then we have to crank it up.
Cheers for the good coverage.
Torey rocking the 2008 Faux hawk 😂
This is better news that capturing the Flagg
Can Statnton sell the M's soon?
I'm so excited for this news.
Bert Kolde can go you know what
A new pope and a new owner!! What a week!!!
Good to hear it from you first Torey
Wild that after the knicks and Twolves do a starters swap they might meet each other in the finals for a grudge match.
So much of what you see in society right now is rigged including the… You know what
Hopefully 🤞 they stay in Portland!!
Where do you think the new owners will move the team to?
Finally thank god
SAVE US PHIL! WE'RE DROWNING
I mean Portland is a liberal hell hole, ran to the ground by a bunch of woke democrat politicians
I think Micheal Jordan might of cursed the blazers or maybe Sam Bowie did depending on how you look at it. We could have had a career of Micheal Jordan or Kevin Durant if they played their cards right. Mark my words the Blazers will be mediocre for years unless they clean house and build through the draft. They have to find a way to clear up some cap room too. Chauncey and Cronin should have both been gone. As a small market team they have to rebuild exactly the way San Antonio is doing right now. Bottom feed and stack draft picks for a few years and hopefully get a bit of luck in the lottery.
Part of sale conditions I'm hearing is that Bert has to stay on in a management capacity
Oh man this is the best possible news I could have heard and I sure hope Phil Knight ends up buying it and cleans house
Where's your friend who's always stoned out of his mind?
Phil knight please buy the team.
Jody caught a ton of flack… I think she gave management total freedom to do what they thought was best for the franchise/fans/city of Portland. I think her and management both had the players and fans best interest all the way through. I couldn’t imagine the pressure that comes with pulling the strings of a professional sports franchise. That being said- I am excited for the future! Go Blazers!
No thanks to Phil Knight, he’s 87 and we shouldn’t want the inevitable fallout when he passes. I don’t want another Paul Allen situation.
Hopefully, the new owners are not based out of Vegas.
FINALLY SOME GOOD NEWS. OMG THIS IS THE BEST NEWS IVE HEARD IN YEARS.
I hope this ownership commits to the youngins and can maneuver their way into a better rebuild. This is exactly what we needed, better leadership if we have to stay with Cronin and Chauncey. Hope the right people get spend the money!
I’ve never been on the nba is rigged crowd but man Dallas getting the number 1 pick is very suspicious! Borderline belligerent 😂
Also, can’t believe Portland is for sale! 😮
It’s about dam time!!! C’mon uncle Phil get our blazers. I agree with you, Torey the Knicks Celtics was surprising, but also I think the Pacers Cavs has been pleasantly surprising just as much.
this team will be moved to seattle.. they can keep the entire portland market and let the dumpster fire that is portland oregon burn from a safe distance
