Joe Mazzulla Talks Jayson Tatum’s Injury & Game 4 Loss to the Knicks | 2025 NBA Playoffs
Uh, no, not yet. I know it’s a lower body injury. He’s going to get an MRI tomorrow. He’s with the doctors now. Do any tests on track? Uh, I I didn’t ask him. I just got the update from him. Uh, I just asked him how he was doing. So, look at the MRI tomorrow and, you know, we’ll see what it is. How concerned is that for you guys right now? Uh, yeah. I mean, you’re obviously always concerned about someone’s health. Um, so, you know, it’s twofold. We’re concerned about uh his health uh where he’s at and then we’re concerned about what we have to do better uh for game five when we get back to Boston. Duke Joe, was it the Achilles or was it the ankle itself and was it contact because there was some contact. I have no idea. Uh I got back there, talked to the medical staff, they told me it’s a lower body injury and they’re going to get an MRI tomorrow. So, you know, we’ll see what it where it goes from there. Gary I mean to see him he’s the guy he’s hurt he gets up when he doesn’t get up he’s staying down how does that make you feel how does it how does that impact the team that he just he couldn’t get up on his own yeah um you know obviously you’re always worried about uh someone’s health so the fact that he had to be carried off uh you know like you said you know he’s the type of guy that when he gets right up so he didn’t and um you know we we’ll we’ll know tomorrow exactly what it is. But uh yeah, I mean it’s tough to watch, you know, a guy like him get carried off like that. Are you Rob and Jack? Did you Did you have a chance to talk to him at all? Uh no, I didn’t. No. And how was um you know, just reaction in the locker room like what is the Yeah, I mean tonight you know we just didn’t play well defensively and you know we’re in a hole and you know we got to get back to Boston and and you know we got to we got to figure out a way to win. So uh Nick’s played great tonight. Uh we had stretches of playing well and uh they got the best of us especially in that third quarter uh with their pace, their offensive execution and I thought their uh their pressure took us out of you know a lot of our actions and took away our rhythm and uh you know we have to fix that for next game. Jack no focus of the game was something like that at the end of it but in that fourth quarter they were getting mid-range a lot. It felt like you guys were getting a lot of stuff. Was that something that they were doing? Was it like a adjustments like what did you see happen when they just kept making like what seemed like pretty tough passes? Uh yeah, I mean uh we went to a couple different coverages. I think it was the rebounding in the transition that got us. Uh you know, obviously, you know, Brunson’s a great player and Obby and Bridges separated it uh you know, with their scoring and and you know, they they beat us on the boards. I think they won the shot margin tonight and like I said in the third quarter, I thought uh they’re switching their their uh their pre-switches um you know, slowed us down a bit and uh you know, got the best of our pace in the third quarter. John, Bobby, Joe, just felt like a common theme here. came one, two, and this game. Maybe the lead wasn’t quite as big, but it just felt like the Knicks got into a rhythm that you could never break. Uh, what goes into that and and why has a team like yours has been so good defensively? What’s kind of prevented you from getting the stops that you need? Uh, yeah, I mean, they’re a good offensive team, so I think a lot of it had to do with uh, you know, the rebounding and the transition uh, because of, you know, our offensive execution at times and, uh, you know, their guys stepped up. They made plays today. With your season on the line and the concerns about Jason, there’s obviously a veteran group, but how do you get them ready to fight for game five for their season? I mean, they’ll be ready. I mean, uh, that’s just who they are. Uh, it’s been that way. Um, you know, it’s the locker room that they have and they’ll be ready. So, uh, you know, you trust the character of the guys in moments like this and you take it one game at a time. Coupin. uh he we wasn’t in the in the bonus as much as uh we were at other times. They did a good job of taking him out right before. Uh we just didn’t have the opportunity didn’t present itself as much as it did the other two games. Question. Thanks.

This sucks
As a Knicks fan, Jason's injury took the wind out of our sails . We want him full power
These reporters are fxckin STUPID!!! HE SAID HE WILL HAVE AN MRI TOMORROW!!!!😂 GEEZE
Jayson Tatum wants to be Kobe Bryant so bad even torn his acl
Unfortunately this is sports. A shame it has come to this. Lets all pray for Tatum. No one likes to see a serious injury occur like this to anyone, regardless of the team they play for.
Lmao tatum is such a joke 😂😂😂
Drove to the basket more and don’t throw up 3s when you have a decent lead
fire this weirdo pls…
You have to admire the patience of guys like Joe when they get asked asinine questions like "was it the achilles" when they have already said the examination would take place tomorrow.
We all know what it is smfh
Biggest problem this year: the celtics cant play a 4th quarter down
FIRE JOE "use no bench" Mazzulla.
I love how everyone is avoiding the obvious….an Achilles tear. Why are they pretending they don't know what he did to it???
Shouts to Tatum! That aside mazzulla’s lot his mind this is D’ Antonio coaching at least he instructed layups wit 3s they was up 15 to 20 points in every loss and blew to taking and missing 3s
Didn’t realize how much of an idiot mazzulla is it’s been bad coaching just got them jacking 3’s miss after miss and won’t take the easy 2 blew every lead on that
I can't stand listening to this guy Mazzulla. He talks in this flat, quick monotone and doesn't come across with any emotional depth. I'm a little surprised he didn't yell at Tatum to "tough it out, keep playing!" after what must be a serious injury. His claim that he doesn't know anything about the part that's injured or possible damage done is ridiculous. Do you really believe a coach wouldn't know the area of the injury after the game when his top player has been taken down the hallway in a wheelchair? He either doesn't care enough or he's just lying to the press by denying he has a clue about the injury.
thunder fan, we were fully prepared to play Boston in the Finals. and this year’s playoffs have been the craziest in a long time. Both Dame and JT with torn achilles. PRAYERS UP 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Barely 27 years old and now he might never reach the peak that he could have. He doesn't deserve this, wishing him an incredible recovery and to not rush back
Great coach, he knows who the actors are.
Sucks that Tatum got hurt but the game and hence the series was over a little before he got hurt
Darth Jar Jar himself
That man ain’t hurt , he just got that phone call ….. fake nba
Crazy how Tatum would be healthy if this dude wasn’t a bad coach
someone said mazulla is an AI coach lmao
This man needs to get fired lol. He looks completely lost.
I'M A KNICKS FAN AND WE HAD INJURIES BASICALLY TAKE US OUT OF THE PACERS SERIES LAST YEAR DEAL WITH IT LET'S GO KNICKS !!!!
