San Antonio is going to trade for Giannis and whatever spacing they can get. With a player like Wemby you don't wait to maximize a team especially when an opportunity like this exists.

The Mavs aren't going to trade Cooper Flagg. They have the easiest "Get Out of Jail Free" card to have ever been given out. It's clear the Mavs will continue to try and win but it's going to be with Flagg until it's clear to everyone that it just won't work which no one knows.
It would make things so much easier on the Spurs if Giannis just came out and said he wants to go to San Antonio. It would give them a significant negotiating stance in such a trade. But if Spurs decide to go after Giannis, I hope they try to keep Castle. Maybe throw Sochan in the deal instead.

You take Harper and he plays behind Fox. You will always have a playmaker on the floor or deal with Mavs. Seems like they may need Harper more any how after Irving going down.
Rather go to OKC route and stay young. If you grab Giannis you'd have to give Vassell/Keldon or Sochan/Keldon and draft captial.
They wouldn't have enough depth to contend right away. Then you'd have to pay Wemby, extend Fox, etc. Rather have the guys on a similar timeline.

This is by far the best analysis of the Spurs situation. Most people are talking about Flagg for Giannis, I think the second pick is way more interesting. Spurs can put together a package Milwaukee cannot refuse, better than anything OKC or Houston can offer and better for Giannis as well who fits way better with Wemby than AD.
What if the Spurs move back to Utah’s pick and Utah sends a package with Lauri heading to the Spurs
If Spurs fans would rather have a 14 ppg player over the #2 player in the league, cool. Then this Giannis topic is irrelevant. Bucks will trade Giannis somewhere else like OKC which would be game over.

Spurs not giving up Castle and #2 together for Giannas, spurs may rather involve 3rd team that has player bucks want and give that 3rd team draft pick. Spurs not giving up #2 for any other player besides Giannas even Durant won't trade #2 .for. Spurs main goal since drafting Wimby have playoff team 18 yrs like they did with Duncan. They want dynasty but trying speed it up playoff contention

2, 14, and Castle makes it a non-starter. If this was Giannis 3-4 years ago, absolutely. This team should just take Harper and figure out how he fits later. It'll take a couple more years for the younger players to develop, anyway. Also, adding Giannis completely ruins the Spurs's ability to fill out the rest of the roster once 3 players are on max deals in a couple years.
