How long will it take the Mavs to become contenders? πŸ€” @kentsports24

How long did it take other NBA draft lottery longshot winners to turn into legitimate contenders? We know the Mavericks just won it with the fourth lowest odds ever. Look how quick NBA history says they’ll be a contender. Let’s start with 1993, the Orlando Magic. They use that pick to draft Chris Weber first overall, trade him on draft night for Penny Hardaway, teaming him up with Shaq. And just two seasons later, they’re the number one seed in the East, make the NBA Finals, and beat Jordan’s Bulls on their way to doing it. Let’s then look at the Bulls in 2008. This is the year they drafted Derrick Rose. Just three seasons later, the Bulls were the one seed in the East and Dererick Rose won MVP. And I’m going to group these Cavs 2014 and Cavs 2011 together because they’re so close in time. 2011’s when they drafted Kyrie first overall. 2014 is when LeBron came back. So, they traded that first overall pick, Andrew Wiggins, for Kevin Love. And in just their first season together, they were the two seed in the East, advanced to the NBA Finals, and were the one seed the next season. So, the precedent’s been set because all three of these teams became number one seeds within three seasons, and these two made the NBA Finals within two seasons. How quick do you think it’ll be until the Mavericks are a one seed themselves?

  3. Been watching you for a long time and your talent is always satisfying. Thanks for the quality content!πŸ‘ŠπŸš˜πŸ

  4. With Ad consistently dealing with injuries, Kyrie dealing with his injury, plus both of their ages and how competitive the west is, it's gonna be difficult for mavs to make it as a #1 seed

  5. Mavs got a aging Kyrie and Davis not to far behind so they need to do it on 2 years max. Flagg not gonna a serious threat from jump. Maybe a 16 and 7/8 type guy and eventually a 23/24 and 8/9 around his 2/3 season imo

  6. Wonderful content that always makes my day brighter. Looking forward to more videos!πŸ¦†πŸš’πŸ™ˆ

  7. I know we like to hype up players before the get to the league, I hope cooper turns out a great player n not a back ground player.

  8. Most likely the sophomore season for Cooper with a healthy Kyrie, but always comes down to the availability of Anthony Davis.

  9. Depends on if Kyrie can come back, and if AD can stay healthy. I suspect Kyrie will be out until at least the start of next year maybe up to the All Star Break, he might not be the same player right away or ever again though.

I think AD and Flagg can keep the team afloat and at least competitive in the West at least for the first half of the season, as they also have some other talent around them. So they could be competitive as soon as next year with Kyrie being reinforcements around the All Star Break.

If AD gets hurt then they could be a bottom dweller and might have to revisit the makeup of the roster heading into the 2027 season.

  10. West is really stacked rn. Teams who will age gracefully on top of that include the Thunder, Timberwolves, Rockets, and potentially the Spurs. They will be in the playoffs again but after that it will be tough.

  11. If Anthony Davis activates the dawg in him. Then they will be deadly but I feel like homie just lets his feelings get in the way or something.
