Austin Reeves will get traded next season and there’s nothing the Lakers can do to prevent it. AR has been one of the best bargains in the entire NBA. The Lakers locked him up for just $53 million over four years, but now he’s widely outplaying that deal. This season, Reeves has put up 20 points per game with nearly six assists and four and a half rebounds per night while being a legit shot creator and drawing fouls like a superstar. And that is the exact issue here. Reeves is about to hit free agency and he’s going to get paid. I’m talking $40 million per year. But the Lakers, they can only offer him $83 million over four years. And let’s be honest here, he’s turning that down in a heartbeat. He’ll decline his $14 million player option and hit the open market at 27 years old and probably double his salary elsewhere. So unless LA wants to lose him for nothing, they got one choice and that’s to trade
