Boston Celtics vs New York Knicks LIVE GAME 5 | May 14, 2025 | NBA PLAYOFFS GAME 5 | NBA LIVE 2K25

A quick peek into the locker room as the players get set for the game ahead. Looking to make a big splash here tonight. Welcome everybody to another presentation of the NBA live on 2K Sports along with Grant Hill and Richard Jefferson. This is Brian Anderson and we’ve got our reporter Ally Leforce and a look at the starters for the Knicks. They’ve got Josh Hart. Jaylen Brunson is out there with Male Bridges. Then it’s OG Anobi and it’s Towns in at the pivot spot banning the middle. And for the Celtics, the two Jays, Brown at the three and Tatum at the four, Holiday at the one with with White at the two. And it’s Porzingis in at the five. Grant, looking at these two teams, my attention is drawn to the front court matchup. Oh yeah, this should be a battle on the baseline. Great to watch skilled bigs trade blows and show off what they can do down low. Now here’s Holiday. Back to Tatum. fires for three. Counted from distance. Every time Tatum finds his shot, he’ll take it. He loves to fill it up from range outside. Hart Brunson a screen on Tatum. Hart against Tatum to the inside and stolen by Porzingis inside. Oh, deflected. It’s stolen by Hart. outside. Brunson. Bridges outside. Clock at six. Floats one up. Blocked. And they forced the shot clock violation. Great feed. It’s time to take a glance again at that superb block. That’ll put some fear into the shooters. And he made sure to do it early, too. And here’s Boston. Tatum feeling it out a bit. He hits the back iron and sinks it. Tatum’s got five now. The defense must be aware of where Tatum is, especially when he’s roaming around that mid-range. High post towns can it with nobody near him. And we talk about the importance of versatility. He’s really got it all on the offensive end. Bridges against White to the middle. Here’s Porzingis. No good there off the double clutch. And so it’s Hart with it. He brings it up for New York. It’s a three-point game. Towns passes to Bridges. Outside Hart. Towns on a screen. Shot clock at five from downtown. The rebound. Celtics. Pass to Tatum. And just under two and a half minutes elaps here in the first. Great start so far. Three of three in this one. What muscle on that finish. It’s hard trying to prevent Tatum from converting for New York. They’ve gone one for three so far. You look at his college days and his rookie year. Tatum has always been on a winning team. Richard Ba. I think it starts with his approach. There’s always been an air of professionalism when it comes to Tatum. He’s just a young player that is focused only on winning. Now here’s White outside. Porzingis pass to Tatum. There’s the three. Porzingis misses. And this is exactly who you want taking that shot. He just missed it. Brunson passes to Bridges. Towns. A screen on White. Bridges with it now. Guarded by Brown and he gets it to go. Yeah. Nimble play by Bridges inside navigating the contact and getting to his finish. First quarter of action. Just under three and 1/2 minutes played outside. Holiday outside. White pass to Tatum. Takes a three and it’s Brunson with the rebound. And so it’s Brunson who brings up the ball for the New York Knicks. They trail by three. Bridges misses for Boston. They’ve gone three of six from the floor. Here’s White and it’s New York with the rebound. Brunson surveys. Pass to Towns. Shoots over White. That’s good from Towns on the assist from Brunson. It’s easy money for Towns from 15 to 18 ft. Now, let’s send it over to Ally Leforce who was able to talk with Joe Misoula. He got into it about his strategy against Carl Anthony Town. These modern bigs are tough to stop, he told me, and went on to say, “I’m hoping we can just force him to take bad shots, not the ones that he wants. I’ll settle for that.” So, they’re looking to disrupt Cat’s selections and keep him from his spots, guys. And Ally, thanks. Knicks trail by four. And timeout is called by Tom Thino. He wants to give him a breather and talk things over. Grant, all the high hopes Knicks fans have had in recent years, they have finally come to fruition. Yeah, it really was good to see the Knicks have a great campaign last year. From the players to the coaches to the front office and the fans and they’ve pressed all the right buttons. Get loud and clear. It’s time for some t-shirts right now, fans. Heat up here. Heat up here. And so it’s New York with it. Four-point game. Brunson against Holiday and Brunson. Here we go. Tatum with some nice D. Defense pulled out all the stops to shut him down there. They get it back. Holiday looking for an opening. Five to shoot. Left side. Brown. It’s good. And he drew contact on the shot. So, he will go to the line. A three-point play opportunity. Defensive foul. That’s his first. And you look at Jaylen Brown, grab, not many wings have the strength he has. Yeah, Jaylen Brown could dunk over a brick wall. And he could dunk through a brick wall, too. It’s just so hard to move him off his path when he’s on his way to the rim. And the Knicks making a change here. Chewish checked in. Find the lane. Find the lane. No shot. And when you talk about the Boston Celtics last year, they were historically good, Richard. Yeah, they had the fourth best net rating ever in the history of the game. That’s Magic Johnson. Larry Bird, the MJ Bulls shattered the NBA record for offensive rating at 123.1. They were unreal. Celtics lead by seven. Holiday passes to Porzingis. And here’s White. Outside Brown just five on the clock. He can’t hit that time. Hart with the defensive effort. Knicks trail by seven. Brunson passes to Bridges. Towns a screen on White. Here’s Bridges. And so he draws the foul. Headed to the line to shoot a pair. That one on white and male Bridges still one of the better wing defenders in the league. Greg, yeah, he’s so great at pestering a shooter. Good lateral movement and wingspan makes him hard to get around. He might not be the best in the league, but he is well above average. No good on that one. Well, Richard, he’s the iron man of the NBA right now. Male Bridges takes pride in being available on a nightly basis. We’ve all heard it before. The best ability is availability. And Bridges does whatever it takes to not miss games. More teams need to take this mindset. I consider Mikuel Bridges a high motor player. He’s always ready to turn up his energy if he thinks it will help him get the better out of him. Now here’s Holiday. No point so far. Porzingis with a screen on Hart. Here’s Brown. Oh, big finish. Okay, I see you. Was it just me or was there a little bit extra on that slam by Brown? And New York has possession. Trailing by eight with a screen on Holiday. Brunson on the drive. Kicks it out. Towns fires the three. Basket is good. Off the assist from Brunson. Towns has got seven. A fantastic three-point shooter. You got to guard Towns from the corners especially. Gorzing passes to Tatum. Hey, in six attempts, he’s made five. Talk about efficiency. See, this is what Tatum is capable of. Look, look, he is a sensational score. Like, we understand that he gets into a rhythm and we’ll have a timeout called by Tom Fibino. He’ll take the opportunity to regroup. If you see yourself, you know what to do. Show us your Heat. Heat. Oh yeah. Heat. Corper. He’s checked in for Jason Tatum. And the Knicks making a change here as well. McBride’s checked in. Celtics on D. They lead by seven. And it’s Towns with the power finish. Yeah. Strong flush from Towns. I like whenever he plays with an edge inside. Here’s Brown. He’s got five. High arcing shot. He can’t get it to go. Knicks trail by five. Outside Brunson. Hart finds a Chua. Brown against Hart. Towns on a screen. Down to five on the shot clock. Takes the three. Hard can’t hit. Austin leading by five. Outside. Holiday. Here’s Porzingis and he paddles for the ball. Gets the second chance bucket. I love whenever Porzingis hits the offensive boards. He has the height needed to hurt defenses in this regard. outside of Chua back to Brunson. Towns a screen on Holiday and it’s Brunson missing and so Brown will bring it up for the Celtics. Seven-point differential on the wing. Holiday. Brunson defending. The shot by Holiday. No good. And you got to give credit to the D for never giving up on the plate and doing just enough to bother him at the rim. Here’s the floater and it’s Brunson missing. He hasn’t been able to find his touch this quarter. Yeah, straight up guys. Like he’s ice cold. Like freezing. What’s colder than cold? But you don’t have to shoot it, my guy. It’s okay to pass the ball. Now here’s Holiday. No made baskets yet. Over Brunson. The open shot. Horford. That one falls. Nice feed that time from Holiday. And now it’s a 9-point Celtic lead. Nice to have a big man you can count on to hit that shot. Makes the offense much more diverse. New York has gone one of four from deep. Boy, they’d love if anyone could get a bucket. Yeah, their offense has been grinding to a halt. Pass to McBride outside. Brunson gets the three to fall. You know, some threes look better than others and Brunson’s lefty stroke from three is a beautiful thing. Here’s Brown. Five points in the game. Horford outside, fires the three, sinks the tray. Orford’s got five now. And that’s how you up the ante. Come right back at it. Yeah, I love the competitive fire right there. You drain a triple on us and I’m coming for my revenge. Now here’s Towns. Nine points in the game. And it’s Brunson again missing. Fires from the line. Brown no good. That’s a shot he’d like back. He’s usually going to make those to the paint. It’s tipped and stolen by Porzingis. White on the wing. McBride covers outside. Holiday. Horford finds Holiday down low. Here’s Brown. And Brown with the stuff. So far, they’re owning both ends of the floor. We’ll see if they can keep this going. They came out and bumr rushed them. Huge difference in activity level from both teams tonight. 54 seconds left in the first quarter. Brunson against Holiday. Brunson passes to Towns and off the front iron and in it goes. 11 points in the game and that’s what makes Towns so dangerous offensively. He’s a threat even when he’s playing off the ball. Back to Holiday. Pass to Horford. Here’s Holiday. Now here’s Warford. Clock at four. Here’s White again. Boston. Boy, I like their energy coming in. Terrific execution so far. Couldn’t come up with a much better start than this. They just have to keep it going. Left side. Brunson. Towns for three and that’s not going to go. And so it’s the Boston Celtics. They lead by 11 as the quarter comes to a close. The hustle they’ve shown on defense has been tremendous. More NBA on 2K Sports right after this. And if you’re just tuning in, we’ve got a wide margin on the scoreboard, but plenty of time left for a comeback. And what do you guys think so far about the offensive approach for Boston? Well, so far their long range shooting has been the story, doing damage from deep. Well, I’ve also really loved watching them connect from the in between area. I mean, they’re finding ways to do damage consistently from there. Knicks trail by 11. Tory Craig out there with Al Horford. Then there’s Jason Tatum. Then there’s Peyton Pritchard. And it’s Hower in at the three. That’s who’s in the game for the Celtics. The mid-range isn’t a total no-go for Bridges. He can get that dialed in. Here’s Tatum after the basket by New York on the other end. One thing you can say about Boston Grant, they know how to put a team together. Yeah, the Celtics consistency of winning is just impressive both now and throughout their entire history. They are really the gold standard in this league and it’s mostly because of great draft picks and great trades. Gives us a chance to catch up with Alli Leforce. Brian, last season Jason Tatum surpassed 10,000 career points. He said, “It sounds crazy. I always think about when I was a kid growing up with my mom and saying I wanted to be in the NBA. I may have thought I would be one of the best players, but to actually do it is a surreal feeling. Ryan, he’s being honest. Yeah, dreams do come true. Ally, thank you. Celtics lead by seven. Pass to Pritchard. And here’s Horford. Now here’s Tatum. McBride covers. Shot clock at three. Here’s Hower. That ball. Nice feed that time from Tatum. Hower’s gotten himself on the board with a three there. You give a shooter of his caliber that much time to seam it up. Oh yeah, you’re done. And New York has possession. A minute and a half gone in the second quarter. Robinson finds Bridges. Elbow shot. Good. He hits the jumper. Bridges has got nine. found some space to get off the mid-range and he’ll do damage from there if you let him. Here’s Tatum. Oh, and it’s Tatum finishing it off inside. This is how confident Tatum is. Knows he can score inside whenever he wants. Knicks trail by 10. Outside pain got a piece of it. Here’s Pritchard defended by Payne. There’s Tatum with the three. The Knicks with the rebound. Outside Payne. Bridges outside from deep and that one falls. His fifth basket in seven tries. Look at that catch and shoot ability from Bridges. Not all forwards have that skill. All right, for those just joining us, we’re almost 2 and 1/2 minutes into the second. Now, Tatum, 14 points for him. Jason Tatum. He’s a sharpshooter. That’s how you up the ante. Come right back at him. Yeah, I love the competitive fire right there. You drain a triple on us and I’m coming for my revenge. Bridges nails it. He’s now six for eight from the floor. Just look at those stats from Bridges and he is feeling it. Here’s Pritchard defended by Payne. Craig with a screen on Pay and Pritchard. Here we go. Aua with some nice D. Knicks trail by eight. Bridges right side. All right, Grant. Which US born player do you think has the best chance to supplant LeBron as the face of the league? Oh man, you putting me on the spot, BA. Well, the conversation has to be between Jason Tatum, John Mor, and Anthony Edwards. They’re the best young talent that the US has to offer, and they’re only getting better. That’s good from Bridges. And Boston with some changes. Porzingis has checked in for Horford and Holiday subbed in for Craig. Carl Anthony Towns has checked in for New York. Adenobi comes in for McBride. Bridges hits them both. And in the second quarter, a little under three and a half minutes played already. Towns against Tatum. Among the best in the NBA for a few years now. Jason Tatum. RJ, he’s still quite young. How can he get even better? Oh, he can just get wiser and wiser. And that’s what happens with young players. They get to a physical level where they can dominate, but where they get better is mentally. They get mentally stronger as they get into these experiences more. And that one falls for Tatum. We talk about Tatum’s offense and for good reason, but his play on the defensive end is really valuable for this team. And so Tatum nails both of them. And almost four minutes gone in the second quarter of play. And we’ll have a timeout called by Tom Pibino. And we might see some changes. Coach potentially looking to adjust. Give it up for Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Warrior. And here in the second quarter of action as we approach four minutes played, back to Anobi with his first shot attempt. Rebounded by the Celtics. They’ve led by as many as 11. Pass to Pritchard. Here’s Tatum. Three-pointer. That one doesn’t drop. Anobi against Porzingis. Back to Payne. Bridges with it. Six to shoot. Robinson. A screen on Holiday. That is now his seventh field goal in 10 attempts. Impressive. Got to fight harder to get over those screens. Yeah, as soon as these guys build contact, they are just disappearing like they’re not even there. You got to show some fire and keep defending. Now here’s Tatum. 19 points in the game. Such a wideopen look. Tatum’s got nine points now in the quarter. This man has entered the zone. Great shooting performance from him all game long. Pointer Bridges and Pritchard pulls it down. Yeah, you know, he usually makes you pay from that range. Holiday passes to Tatum. Tatum with another miss. You got to move past that one. I mean, they’d want him to take that again. Yeah, it’s a great look for him. One they’ll try and manufacture again. Those are the shots you want him to take. Offensive rebound. Robinson finds Payne. Bridges outside. goes up again. Oh, that’s his eighth make of the game. He’s only missed four so far. Yeah, picking his spots. Bridges does a great job of letting the game come to him. Pass to Pritchard. Here’s Hower Anobi covering. Screen. Tatum against Towns. Pulls it in from the elbow. Tatum with another miss. Knicks trail by six. Now here’s Payne. Still no points. Now here’s Bridges from behind the ark and it’s going to be out of bounds. The Knicks will retain possession. Some changes for Boston. Brown comes in for Hower and Derek White subbed in for Pritchard. Jaylen Brunson. He’s checked in for New York. Here’s Bridges again. The miss by Bridges. And it’s Tatum with a ball for Boston. Six-point lead. Pass to White. And here’s Brown. Here’s White. Five on the clock. Porzingis with a screen on town. White can’t hit. Knicks trail by six. Here’s Brunson outside. Fourth three. Brunson nails it. The lefty getting it to go. Jaylen Brunson once again. Tatum passes to Holiday outside. Brown into the lane. The kick to Tatum. Lets the three fly. Good. And Brown gets the assist. Tatum’s got 12 points now in the quarter. That’s how you up the ante. Come right back at him. Yeah, I love the competitive fire right there. You drain a triple on us and I’m coming for my revenge. Now here’s Brunson. Six points for him. Bridges. A screen on Holiday. Brunson finds Bridges and it’s Bridges with the jam. It’s a classic play and it gets Bridges the opening he needs. Here’s Tatum. 24 points for him outside. Holiday outside Brown. That three’s off the mark. The defense just giving him the easy look there. He’s not going to miss that. Brunson with it. Porzingis picks him up defensively. Brunson inside with the finish. Brunson doesn’t fear going in amongst the trees. Remarkable poise there inside. And so it’s Boston with it. outside Tatum. Drops in the three. Tatum’s got 27 points. And this is how he shines. He’s a big part of their floor space. Yeah. And you got to know where he is at all times, especially when he’s roaming around the perimeter ready to fire. Now here’s Brunson. Give him eight points now. It’s Bridges on the wing. Six on the shot clock. That shot no good. Good work defensively by White. Celtics lead by five. Tatum passes to White and it’s New York with a rebound. Robinson’s got six rebounds here tonight. Here’s Brunson. Porzingis grabs the board. Porzingis has got five rebounds in the game. To the paint. Tatum. Hey, strong move Tatum. Knicks trail by seven. Bridges outside. Back to Brunson. Oo, good work defensively by Holiday. Boston’s gone seven of 15 from distance in this game. Brunson against Tatum. Off target on the 15-footer. New York has gone two of four from the perimeter in the second so far. Pass to Robinson and stolen by Brown to the middle. Here’s Tatum. Plenty of contact on that shot. Officials call the foul and he’ll take two free throws. Now it’s going to be on Carl Anthony Towns. It’s crazy. He’s growing taller. He’s adding more muscle. Tatum just becomes harder to defend in there. Shooting two. And that one falls for Tatum. Josh Hartz checked in for New York. So he makes one of two and the second one misses. Knicks trail by eight. And Anobi with it. Hasn’t gotten one to fall yet. The shot by Towns. No good. Offensively, Carl Anthony Towns is one of the most well-rounded bigmen in the league. Grant. Yeah, maybe in league history, BA. He’s an elite three-point shooter, postcore, and his passing is severely underrated. Tatum can’t hit. And he probably thought he was going to bury that one. Brunson against Holiday. Bridges feel peeling it out a little bit. The teardrop and he lays it up and in. Bridges has got 24 points. Yeah. Relentless worker. Bridges so tough inside. A minute and a half left to play in the second quarter and Joe Mazuma calls timeout here. Coach wants to speak to his guys, maybe alter some of the game plan. Here they come. It’s Sunday. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Hower. He’s checked in for Boston. Number three, Samer. Get out. Here’s Porzingis. Holiday. Passes to Hower. Back to Holiday. Count the bucket. Coming off a perfectly placed pass and the Celtics lead by eight. Yeah, good execution in close. Holiday likes mixing things up and finishing from this area. And here’s Bridges. He’ll bring it up for New York. Towns on a screen. Pass to Hart. Shot clock at six. Towns can’t get it to go. Austin leading by eight. And here’s Porzingis covered by Towns. Back to Holiday. There’s the triple and it’s New York with a rebound. We’ve got 33 seconds left in the first half. Bridges with it. Gorzing picks him up defensively. The put back controls the rebound and the put back. I mean, I’ll tell you, Towns is so dangerous on the offensive glass. Brown against Ananobi. Left side. Brown. crowd just showing his toughness inside. Credit their discipline. They’ve been working for high percentage shots. And so it’s Jason Tatum making highlights for Boston. He’s been an offensive force now with over 30 points after the quarter. All right, now let’s check in with Ally Leforce. Ally, what do you have? Well, Jason, you hold the lead going into halftime. What’s been your advantage so far? Uh for for most of the half, um we were really good defensively. Uh we let our foot off the gas a little bit so uh we got to do a better job. Keep the pedal to the metal, guys. Thanks, Ally. After the break, we’ll see you right back here to begin quarter number three. Heat. Heat. And we played through the first half. Plenty of basketball left in this one. And you know Jason Tatum, he’s been really making it happen, guys. Well, if he’s hit threes like he did in the first half, he’s going to have a monster night. And let’s see if the D adjusts make life a little more difficult on him. Knicks trail by eight on the floor for New York. Male Bridges is out there with Jaylen Brunson. Then it’s Josh Hart. Then it’s Carl Anthony Towns and it’s Anobi in at the three, the small forward. Male Bridges. Boston’s gone seven for 17 from three-point range so far in this matchup. Tatum passes to Porzingis. Porzingis punishing inside. Check out Porzingis’s energy. He’s just relentless on both ends of the court. And so it’s New York with it outside. Hart back to Brunson. Towns on a screen. Brunson against Holiday. And it’s Brunson missing. And the shooter had very little space on that attempt. I’m sure they’ll think twice about shooting against him next time. Holiday finds White. That one falls. Nice feed that time from Holiday. Holiday’s got four assists in the game. And Holiday takes this responsibility seriously. When someone is open on his squad, he gets it to him. Now here’s Towns. 13 points in the game. Well, okay. Well, I like his aggressiveness, but like the defense was waiting on him that time. Outside Holiday. Here’s White and it’s rebounded by Carl Anthony Towns. Towns has got his eighth rebound here tonight. Brown against Hart. Towns a screen on White. Three-pointer. Bridges. The rebound. Celtics. Tatum’s got his fourth rebound in this one. Outside Holiday. Back to Tatum. Count the basket. Tatum’s got 32 points in the game and just not letting up at all. I mean, you have to love this approach. You want to get the ball to the guys who make plays. This is when good players really get after it. He can sense that they’re reeling and he’s going to put his foot on the pedal. Three-pointer Bridges. He buries it from three. Bridges has got 27. Oh, productive from back there. Bridges showing the range. A chance here to catch up with Ally from the sidelines. Hey Brian, a key concept preached by Celtics head coach Joe Mazula and reiterated by Jaylen Brown who says it’s reading the game, realizing fast but playing slow. We’re the more talented team. He said we have to be the smarter team as well. And when we do that, we’re going to be tough to beat, Brian. Well, they certainly have been, Ally. Thanks for that. Now, here’s Bridges. 27 points for him. Just five to shoot. Towns passes to Hart. And Adobe for three. No good. And White has got the ball here for Boston. Since halftime, only allowed five points. And you look at Derek White, Richard, the energy he plays with, it is remarkable. That’s his greatest attribute. His activity on both ends of the floor. Having a high motor is a skill. He keeps coming and tries to wear you down. That’s good from White. White hits them both. And it’s a luxury to have a great shooter like him at the line. Very rarely see him miss and we’ll have a timeout called by Tom Pibido. A moment to rest and confer on the game plan. One of the stories here, Jason Tatum. Man, is he getting it done today. He’ll just keep hurting them from the three-point land if they let him. Here’s a chance for coach to change that. Let’s see if it a free t-shirt. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Hart finds Brunson. Just under 3 and 1/2 minutes played here in the third quarter. Bridges misses. And even after airtight defense like that, you still just expect him to hit those kind of shots. That’s good from Holiday on the assist by Tatum. Tatum’s got three assists now in this one. Bridge is outside. Outside Hart. Bridges outside. Five to shoot. Hart with a screen on Holiday. And here’s Brunson from the arc. Knocks down the long J. Brunson’s got five points now in the quarter. And what kind of defense was that? You can’t give up wide open threes like that. What are you doing? Here’s Tatum. And he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So, he’ll take two free throws. An active scoreer. Whenever Tatum forces the issue and goes at the defense, they have to compromise. All right, guys. Let’s get your take on the scoring breakdown for the Celtics. All game long, they’ve been making it rain from the arc. And look, they’ve done it by feeding the hot hands. And you have to talk about the passing, too. I mean, the ball has been zipping around on the offense and they’ve kept the extra pass mentality the whole way. And he knocks down the first one. And so Tatum nails both of them. Knicks trail by 13. Brunson passes to Towns. Pass to Bridges. Here’s Hanobi. Here’s Towns. Good D by Forzing for Boston. They’ve gone four of six from the floor in this third quarter. White can’t hit. The Knicks have gone cold here in this third quarter. Just three of nine. Towns outside. This one for three. Yes. And a nice assist from Brunson. Brunson’s got his sixth assist of the night. The big man is smooth from range. Have to put a man on towns, that’s for sure. White finds Tatum again. And the miss by the Celtics. And he might have thrown himself off when he saw how much space he had from three. Pass to Bridges. Drives to the hoop and there’s a whistle. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. Well, I don’t think anyone predicted that Jaylen Brunson would become the player he is today, Grant. Yeah, that’s for sure, BA. Or he definitely wouldn’t have been a second round pick. He’s a hard worker, a competitor, and an elite offensive player. First free throw is good. Austin making a switch here. Pritchard’s checked in. Bridges hits them both. Austin leading by eight. Here’s Pritchard. He’s scoreless. Outside Brown. Three-pointer off the mark. Locking the arc down. Defense knows it’s on them to scare off those shots. So, it’ll be two free throws. He was fouled in the active shooting. And no matter what the chatter is out there, all Big Cat does is produce on a nightly basis. He’s getting his first free throw attempts of the night now. Carl Anthony taking two shots. Two shots. The first free throw is good. And so Towns nails them both. It’s always nice to see a big fella be able to knock down some free throws and make teams pay from the line. Here’s Pritchard. Brunson defending. Here’s Porzingis. Okay, do it KP. Here’s Brunson. Towns outside. Inside. Here’s Hart. That one’s good. And it’s Towns with the assist. Soft interior D and they’ve exploited it. Celtics lead by six. And here’s Holiday for three. Towns with a rebound. Hard against Tatum Anobi. And it’s Jason Tatum with a rebound. Tatum’s got six rebounds now in the game. Sinks it from distance. Richard’s gotten himself going here. His first points of the game on the deep ball. Knicks trail by nine. Brunson passes to Towns to the inside. Here’s Hart. Porzingis grabs the board. Porzingis has got nine rebounds now. Pass to Tatum. Jacks up a three. Nails it from beyond the ark. And it’s a 12-point Celtic lead. That was a beautiful screen set there in Left Tatum. He’ll take care of the rest. Here’s Brunson. Takes the 12-footer and hits it. Brunson’s got seven points for the quarter. The Celtics have gone seven of 13 in the second half. Pass to Pritchard. Back to Holiday. Now Tatum the three ball. The Knicks pull it in. Towns has got rebound number 12 now. Tenacity on the glass. Hard with it. Picked up by Tatum. Here’s Bridges. Ooh, good work defensively by Holiday. And it’s Holiday with the ball for the Celtics. They’ve led by as many as 14. Pass to Brown. Just four to shoot. Here’s the teardrop. Oh, nice D from Anobi. Knicks trail by 10. Bridges passes to Brunson again. The mix good for two more. And you just can’t let Brunson get to his spots. I mean, he’s an excellent mid-range shooter to the middle. Tatum can’t hit. New York has gotten three of six threes to fall in the third quarter. Down low. The jump hook. pulled the shot a little left. The bounce goes his way though. Towns has got 20. And what a luxury to have a big man who can score like Towns. He’s been unstoppable here. Hard against Tatum. Pass to Pritchard. He’s off on that one. Good D by Brunson. Inside. Here’s Towns. Oh, it’s blocked by Porzingis. Great play by Porzingis. Love seeing the zinger engaged on deep. Al Horford’s checked in for Porzingis. And a switch here also for New York. Aua checked in for Anobi. Here’s Brunson. He’s got 17. That one no good. Celtics lead by six. Morford screen on Brunson. Here’s Pritchard. Tatum with a screen. Six on the shot clock to stop the drought. And it’s New York with a rebound. And the defense got away with one there. I mean, that’s the shot he typically makes. Brunson, New York again. Can’t hit. Outside. Brown. We’ve got a minute 48 left in the third quarter. And Brown knocking down the triple. A consistent shot for him. Brown lights the three. Brunson passes to Bridges. Towns for three. Tatum pulls it in. And he almost made them regret defending him so loosely. Here’s Horford. Oh, get it done. Horford gets it to go. Yeah, the moment Horford has the rock down low. Good night. I mean, just too many moves from the vet. Here’s Brunson. Oh, and makes it with the kiss. Brunson’s got 11 points here in the second half. Got it in deep. And that’s how you do it. 107 left in the third quarter. Tatum passes to Horford and he lobbs it up. Oh, rise up Jaylen Brown. And that’s something that should really get Brown going aloops like that. That really helped the momentum. Here’s Brunson outside. Hart back to Brunson with contact. Brunson gets it to go. Now he may only be 6’1, but Brunson plays much bigger than that. I mean, he plays with a physicality. Austin leading by nine outside. Holiday to the paint. Pass to Pritchard now. Tatum. 37 points for him. Down to five on the shot clock. Nice move. Okay, Tatum punching it home. Tatum just has too much bounce right there. Better be careful you’re trying to stop that outside. Brunson a little mid-range shot is up. Another one falls for New York. Well, I guess we could give him credit for not getting discouraged. They’re still playing hard. He’s doing his job out there. And so it’s Boston with a 9-point cushion at the end of the quarter. Their work from distance has been impressive and it’s put them in this lead right now. We’ll be back in a moment. Fourth quarter action is upon us. Thanks as always for joining us. And it’s Tatum with a ball for the Celtics. We’ve got Jason Tatum, Tory Craig out there with Al Horford. Then there’s Peyton Pritchard and it’s Hower in a small forward. That’s the Boston Five. Now here’s Tatum. Uses the glass on the layup. Tatum’s got 41. And trust me, when the D’s slow to react, he’ll be the first guy to make them pay. Yeah, they’re going to do a much better job of putting a little bit of pressure on him on his way to the hoop. Horford against Towns. Drops in the layup for two. Towns has got nine points here in the second half. Nice positioning and footwork on point. And Towns so smooth down there inside. Here’s Tatum. Oh, Tatum takes the contact. Even with the score as it is, he just keeps coming at you. And we played through about a minute here in the fourth. Now here’s Payne outside. McBride puts up a three. Nails it from three. McBride’s got his first bucket of the game and he’s on the board for three. When he gets a quality look like this at the perimeter, he can almost be automatic. outside. Tatum pocket six. Tatum draws the double. The three from Craig. Aua with the rebound. Aua’s got his fifth rebound in this one. Outside Anobi. Here’s Towns. Tatum pulls it in. And there’s the lob. Jason Tatum. Go up and get it. Terrific lob. And Tatum takes care of the rest. This is how it’s done. Those passes dunk themselves. Over 2 and 1/2 minutes in the books here in the fourth. Pass to Aua Towns with the ball. Orford covering is Pritchard. Oh, he took a hard foul on the shot. So he’ll head to the line to shoot a pair. Third minute of action now gone here in the fourth. Payne the pass to Towns outside of Chua. Towns with the ball. Here’s Payne. That’s in. Coming off an assist from Towns. Towns has got three assists tonight. Yeah. And for Towns, great awareness at the offensive end. And here’s Tatum. Well, if you’re just tuning in, welcome. We played about 3 and 1/2 minutes into the fourth quarter here. Had a miss there on the triple. And as long as he keeps missing from deep, the D will keep letting him fire away. He’s just off from range right now. To the middle. Here’s Aua. Count it. Good. High value assist there. Finding him inside for the finish. Austin leading by 10. Here’s Tatum and he banks in the layup. Tatum’s got 47 points. Operation feed the horse. Feed him early and often. And guess what? It’s working. They have the lead. And New York has possession. Pass to Anobi. Aua against Tatum. Towns with room to shoot and a big bounce off the rim, but it sinks right in. Towns has gotten four this quarter. Got to fight harder to get over those screens. Yeah, as soon as these guys feel contact, they are just disappearing like they’re not even there. You got to show some fire and keep defending. And it’s Holiday with the ball for Boston. They’ve led by as many as 14. Screen by Horford. The baseline J again. Boston on top of the speed and power. Holiday makes good decisions right there. Not forcing anything. Right side pain. Pass to Towns. The three is up. Rebounded by the Celtics. Tatum’s got nine rebounds in the game. Boy, he’s getting it done. Here’s Pritchard defended by Payne. Here’s Pritchard now. Tatum Aua defending. Just five on the clock. Late clock. The Celtics got to hurry here. The shots good. And that’s how you lead a team. Literally. Knicks trail by 14. Now pay. The Knicks have gone seven for 11 so far in the fourth. Towns outside. Right here. Right here. Six to shoot. Outside pain. 43. Horford pulls it in. Boston’s got two of five threes to go here in the fourth. Tatum with it. And it’s Payne picking him up. Horford. A screen on Payne. Shot from the wing and it’s Boston scoring again. Oh, that’s just a smooth jump shot. Tatum has such a deep arsenal. So many different ways to score. Now here’s Payne. Pachua with a screen to the inside. Good setup. Led him to the rack perfectly for the layup. Just outstanding distribution. This is the kind of team chemistry that you love to see. Celtics lead by 13 and Joe Mazula has called timeout. He wants to make sure everyone is aligned given the situation right now. All right, stand. Get ready to dance like everyone watching. Heat. Heat. Everybody get down. And Boston with some changes. Corzangis has checked in for Horford. Jaylen Brown comes in for Hower. And it’s White in for Pritchard. And let’s send it over to Alli Leforce. Over the break, I listened in on Joe Mazula’s huddle. He implored his team to use the clock. He said, “The clock is our friend. No need to rush things unless they give us a free one. Let’s squeeze them out of this game.” Back to you, Brian. Okay, good stuff. Thank you, Ally. Holiday finds Tatum. Another bucket. Wow. And that gives him 51. Making it look easy. And so it’s Brunson who brings up the ball for the Knicks. Down by 15. Hard against Tatum. Left side. Brunson. And the foul is called. He missed it. So he’s got a couple of free throws coming his way. He’ll challenge any defender. Brunson going right after it inside. And the rebound goes to the Knicks. The 17-footer. Boy, he flanks that one off the back iron and it falls. Brunson with a six sense. I mean, always knows where his teammates are. Boston’s gone three of seven from the perimeter during the fourth. Tatum inside. He’s covered by Hart. Man, he’ll draw a foul. He’ll head to the line for two. Jaylen Brunson picks one up. Yeah, you never want to let shots at the rim go uncontested. And that one falls for Tatum. And so Tatum nails both of them. Knicks trail by 17. Now here’s Brunson and Porzingis with the block. Tatum against Brunson. Pass to Holiday. It’s Brown on the wing and the shot is good on the assist by Holiday. Holiday’s got assist number five here tonight. Brunson with it. Oh, a clear foul there on the missed shot. So, he’ll get a pair at the line. An aggressive pump fake move by Brunson pulling the defender in close at the line for the Knicks. Jaylen Brunson. Two shots. Shooting two. And he makes a first. He’s perfect from the line this time. Celtics lead by 17. Outside Brown. Back to Holiday. Hard against Tatum. Pass to White. Cautes it at three and Male Bridges picks up the foul. That’s his first foul. These calls can be so difficult for officials to make. Oh, they get a hand on it. Oh, spilling by Anomi. Second shot opportunity. Shots good by Towns. I mean, Towns has got 13 points here in the second half alone. And just so great to see a big man busted up the court like Towns here. I mean, getting into position for the points on the move. Wow. Incredible. And so the ball out of bounds. Anobi tucks it last. A great read to get a hand in there and disrupt the play. Yeah, I think he was hoping to maybe even get the steal, but I agreed. He still got a good outcome. 133 left in the fourth quarter. They came out and had a statement win with their performance tonight. A fantastic effort to get it done here for the Celtics. You know, their ability to protect the ball helped win it for them. Yeah, it really did. Less turnovers mean you can get more chances to score. All coaches tell you to value every possession. And of all the highlights and performances we’ve seen here tonight, the one thing that stands out is what an unbelievable night it’s been for Jason Tatum. He came up with a bucket every time they needed him to. Great effort on offense and he was a difference maker. And the basket by Bridges. Got to fight harder to get over those screens. Yeah, as soon as these guys feel contact, they are just disappearing like they’re not even there. You got to show some fire and keep defending. Now here’s Brown outside. Porzingis and the layup is good and the Celtics lead by 17. stepping up and nailing an important shot to put this away. And that score probably slams the door for any wouldbe comebacks. And look, they put this one to bed. Bridges against White. Back to Hart. Pass to Brunson. Five on the clock. He drains it as the shot clock ticks down. 20 seconds left in the game. No need to shoot. This one is done. Yes, they’ve got to be happy with tonight’s effort. So, we see the Celtics taking the W here. Even early on in this game, they appeared happy to be playing at home. And it makes a huge difference. Once they started to get into a groove, you never really felt like they wouldn’t come out on top. And that’ll wrap it up, folks. For Grant Hill, Richard Jefferson, and Ally Leforce, this is Brian Anderson thanking you for watching the NBA, presented by 2K Sports. And now time for our player of the game, Jason Tatum.
