Inside the NBA REACTS to Nuggets vs Thunder GAME 5 Highlights

[Music] Charles Barkley called how the game was going to go at halftime and he was 100% accurate. Thank you, Wilson. So, you and Wilson good buddies? Yeah, obviously. Ernie, hold on just a second. Welcome everybody. Inside the NBA. It’s presented by Kia. Ernie Johnson, Dwight Howard, Jaylen Rose, Charles Barkley. What you got on your mind, man? That Joker, that’s going to tell me something we didn’t know. But you just start taking it for granted cuz he had a couple bad games and you’re like, “Okay, now it’s the biggest game in the series and he came out and he balls.” I mean, I listen, they didn’t win the game. Shout out to OKC, but man, I hope we know what we’re watching in Denver. That is that that man is great. Yep. It’s been something special. 44 and 15 on this night, but not enough in OKC. Wednesday, we’ve got the Knicks and the Celtics. Can New York close out Boston on their floor? Warriors and Timberwolves uh target center the site. Minnesota trying to clinch a series on their home floor for the first time since 04. Wow. Yeah, it’s been a while. Um, but that’s all tomorrow night. Game we just saw worth every second of this one. This highlight MVP early on. Great start for OKC. They jumped out 12-2 on them. Hartenstein inside. And then Chad Holren. Oh. takes it himself. [Music] Joker just the start of a huge night. So assertive getting in the painting. Aaron Gordon getting it done there. And then Russell Westbrook. No, but there is Joker. Have to start calling him the big Joker. Big Joker. You know what I’m saying? Like like talk and spy. No. Yeah, he the big joker. You know, you know the white people at home saying, “What’s tough?” Yeah. Jamal Murray with Look at Jamal Murray with the reverse. Yeah. What’s Spades? Yeah. I used to be a pretty good Spades player, by the way. Well, people think you black anyway, Ernie. SGAA. Invite it to every cookout. That’s it. Oh, what a block. Oh my god. There we go. Five, man. That was a great play. Meanwhile, Jamal Murray there. And now we’re going to do something we don’t normally do. We’re going to stop the highlight at this point with the score very tight because Jaylen Williams has put the headset on. Oh, okay. From Oklahoma City and will join us. Uh Jaylen, we were saying as we began this show that um that is as hardearned a playoff win as you will find. How did you guys from down double digits and from down nine in the fourth quarter pull this off? Um just as a team just understanding the the point swings in a game. You know, I think the average is like 12 points a game the game swings. So just always knowing that we’re not too far ahead and too far behind and just kind of keeping it just stacking possessions. Uh Jaylen, uh playing with Shay, uh his his energy on both ends of the floor late in the game, how how do you guys uh thrive off his energy and effort and also his his mindset late in the game? Um he just gives everybody confidence. He’s a killer and I think that’s infectious. Um when you see how bad he wants it, it makes you want it even more. And um you can’t help but play hard for somebody that’s leading by example like that. Jub, congratulations on the win. It’s Jaylen. I want to talk about you guys believing in the fact that you have strength in numbers. It allows you to play fast. It allows you to be confident and it allows you to close out games in the fourth quarter in particular the last two. Um yeah, we we’ve been doing it all year. We’ve been doing it since I’ve been here. We trust one through however many Mark decides to throw in during the game and everybody’s ready to play from the jump. You know, Jaylen, number one, uh that three you hit was huge tonight. So, congratulations. But actually Jaylen took my question. What? Hate it when that happens. Yeah. What does coach do? Because you you have to empower all them players. What does he do? Because you can throw guys out there, but if they don’t play well, you can snatch them out. What does he do to give every player he puts out there confidence? Um, I think the biggest thing is, I don’t know if everybody like watches all our games, but just throughout 82 games, he’s throwing guys in all year. You know what I mean? so they’re not shocked when they get into these moments. And I think that’s what helps. Um he’s a player coach, too, man. Um he’s just good at knowing how to push the right buttons for different players. And and like I said, just over the course of the year, you know, guys have been in so many different spots. When they get to this moment, it’s not a shock. And um he doesn’t really snatch anybody when they’re messing up. You know, he kind of lets you play through it and he trusts us to get better through these experiences. Last thing for me before we let you go, uh Jaylen, um the fourth quarter for Lou Dort. um huge threes and the play that really got my attention besides those he made a great save, kept a possession alive for you guys. Chad finished it and tied the game. Just talk to me about what he means to you and and his confidence in being one for four through the first three quarters and then firing away in the fourth. Big game, Lou. Um that’s why he’s here. Like I said, um just piggybacking off the question with Mark, it’s just he trusts us to make plays and and be who we are and he understands what he means to this team and we have the utmost confidence in him for him to make those plays and just be be who he is. Uh you got a game six coming up in a couple of nights in Denver. Good luck there. And uh thank you very much for taking a little time with us, man. Appreciate you. Yes, sir. Thanks for stopping the highlights, man. You guys can get back to it. Only for special special guests do we do that. Um, and speaking of that, let’s go back to the highlights. So, where were we? 7268. Uh, and now Jamal Murray’s going to make it 7568. Joker. Look at the good ball movement there. And Aaron Gordon cashes in. So, it’s a 12point lead. You’re thinking you’re like, uhoh, man. Joker got to quit doing this. Yeah. Shacking the shack. He’s holding the dude. Like, who’s holding who here? Hey, well, I’m going to try to get away right over here. Hey, I’m glad they called that. That’s so tough. And look at him. Rebound back up with it. No der touch off one leg two feet. They got to get a backup center this summer cuz they asking too much out of this guy. So, here we go. Fourth quarter and here goes Lou Dart on a shooting spree. Rainbow City off the screen. And I’m so proud of that kid cuz man, remember when he couldn’t shoot in a bubble, man. This is the bucket by Homer that came after the save by Dort. Okay. Tied the game at 94. Yeah, just good luck. We got to get chat on uh Chuck’s workout plan. Just eat some burgers, brother. SGA. I ain’t never had no problem gaining weight. I don’t understand what that’s a problem for you. Now look at this. Hey, first of all, Dwight was complaining background top, but that was bad defense. That’s I got a secret for y’all. That’s actually his signature shot. The sideways shot off one leg. The soundboard shot, man. Chad got to get in the way room now. Just a good shot. 106 103 SGA. What a game. calling game as the Oklahoma City Thunder number one seed overall. Man, they had a fight on their hands, but they prevail 112 to 105. Shay Gilis Alexander 31. I mean, and the other MVP, hopeful Nicoola Joic three times, 44, 17 for 25. Damn, he barely missed. Denver down three games to two, but going back for game six. Here’s David Adelman. Coach, second straight game where shooting was an issue in the fourth with a lead. Is is that fatigue? How do you explain it? I mean, you can say it’s fatigue. Uh I think shot quality, too. I thought early in the quarter we did get really good shots. They didn’t fall and then late their pressure got to us and we were up against the clock a lot. Uh so if it is fatigue, that’s not me. You know, I’m deciding who’s going to run it, who’s going to be out there. Uh, so you know, if guys were tired, I had tired legs. That’s the decisions I’m making. So, I like the group that we had. Uh, we had a good rhythm there going to the fourth and I thought we sustained it early. Um, you know, and I had the four timeouts to stop the game a couple times in the first six minutes. Uh, we didn’t have enough at the end. And the shot creation that when we did make it, it felt like every time we had a chance to go back up 12 or get back up 14, you know, we wouldn’t make the shot and they’d run out and make a basket or score in transition. So it compounded itself. Uh you know we had great performance from Nola. Um just you know have have a few other guys have a game and which we can do in game six. Have full confidence in our guys. David a little related but I think you guys have lost three of the last four postseason games when Joic just not sit in the fourth quarter. Just curious what went into the choice tonight. Yeah it was my decision. You know I had a conversation with him. Uh he felt good uh and I was going back and forth with it with the four timeouts. That was a big factor for me. You know, you get two of those timeouts, if Mark calls one, that’s seven minutes of rest, the two, three and a half, you know, timeouts. Uh, so I felt comfortable with that. Uh, you know, I felt like the momentum of the game was going our way. Uh, and he was, you know, very sure of himself. Uh, wanted to play through him. Uh, I’ll look back on it. I’ll doubt myself because we lost the game. Um, but keeping a guy out there that was 17 to 25, uh, was extremely efficient, 5 for seven from three, uh, at 44, 15 and five. So, it was it was a decision that I made uh, to leave him out there. Uh, I do not regret it right now, you know, after a loss. But if I go back and watch the tape, maybe I’ll have a different opinion tomorrow. 44 minutes for Joker. Nobody played more minutes in this game. In fact, three Nuggets playing over 40 minutes along with Christian Brown and Jamal Murray. But I’m telling you, when you when you look back at this game, you’re going to look at that seven minute drought without a field goal in the fourth quarter. Well, it has to be fatigue. And like everybody gets tired and uh these guys like you got I think he could break it up. Like let Joker get a break and let Jamal run the offense then take Jamal out. Let the Joker run the offense. Like look at those numbers. He’s tired. and and and and first of all, no player gonna say he tired, but if you’re playing that game, the rest of the team one for 15. What I mean, come on, man. That’s that’s that’s fatigue. Uh he need he need he needs some help just for a couple minutes just to give him a little break. I would say throw DeAndre Jordan in there. Uh just even I know this guy hasn’t played a lot all year, but is Dar Dario Saric hurt or anything? Is something wrong with him? Just good guys. just give him a couple seconds just to get in there and give give Joker a chance to get a get a break and you know so he can come back out there and dominate. Also was some guys that did play that didn’t give him much help. Michael Porter Jr. Russ Brown and Watson they were six for 28 from the floor. We need to be better. And Michael Porter Jr. we applaud him out there playing with a shoulder injury but they need his three-point shooting. was not even close in the fourth and listen even though he he he throw Russ out there anytime cuz his energy level and is just incredible like he he might make a mistake but he’s going to give me everything and I don’t know if he ever get tired. Yeah. Um have you guys had fun tonight? We had so much fun. I really enjoyed it but I got a problem with you. Dwight Ernie guess what he asked me in the back. How much do you weigh? No. See, hey, we got a joke. This dude asked me about Wilt Chamberlain. Yeah, about playing against Will. I said, “Dude, how old do you think I am?” I did ask you. I know you did. I like, “Dude, how old do you think I am?” After I asked the question, I thought about it. I said, “Chuck ain’t that old.” Okay, thank you. That’s That’s my bad. I Yeah. Yeah. I just I was really trying to start some conversation cuz I was like, “Man, this Chuck, man.” We were having a great conversation back then. you. I was like I said cuz it caught me off guard. I said, “How old did this dude think I am? Is that why you put the headphones?” I said, “Yeah, man. We We’re done talking for tonight, man. Did he have some battles with George Michael?” That’s right. I was killing George. Uh when we come back, uh game five in Cleveland, Pacers and Cavs, the number one seed in the East is out. Going my question. Yeah. Well, I made my [Laughter] How dare you drill champ? That was crazy.

  1. Michael Porter should be embarrassed by this performance 2 goddamn points this loss is on Porter 1000% absolutely embarrassing especially when you have Joker playing 1100 mins every game

  2. Sorry for joker 44 points 15 rebounds 17/25 rare miss still lose bcus porter Jr 2 points c'mon Westbrook no better even jamal Murphy 28 porters take him 27 shot coach make mistake play joker 44 minutes

  3. Let Russ and joker control the offense..Westbrook with the speed can breakdown okc defense..trust this rotation and it will happen….

  4. Giannis could go to Denver with jokic??? We know the nba likes their super teams!!! Or he gonna go to Dallas cause they gonna trade the one to the bucks so they can get cooper Flagg and Dallas gonna get Giannis

  5. This is what happen when you have anew coach at the start of the playoff… Porter Jr had 2 point why are you keeping him late in the game? Is he such a great defender?

  6. i didnt watch basketball aside from the finals until this year and i like the nuggets most. i get MPJ hit threes in big spots in their playoff run but up until this series he didnt look like he deserved to start. another let down offensively but hes giving more effort defensively. i think the coach said it all in that one game he put Russ out for the last 4 game minutes rather than MPJ. i believe it was game 6 or 7 against the clippers

  7. I think Dwight Howard should have worn a tie. The rest of the presenters always wear a tie. If you donโ€™t wear a tie, donโ€™t show the undershirt.
