🚨BREAKING: Jayson Tatum Injury News Reveals Torn Achilles | Boston Celtics News

The absolute last video I ever wanted to make here at Celtics. Today we have major Jason Tatum injury news after he went down with three minutes to go in game four in Madison Square Garden and the Celtics had been fearing for the worst. He had to be taken out on a wheelchair. Sham Shirani reported that the Celtics are looking at a serious injury for Jason Tatum in the first for the first time in his NBA career. This is devastating news and we just officially got the confirmation from Taylor Snow, Celtics insider, who said Jason Tatum underwent successful surgery today, already underwent the surgery. Kind of wild to repair a ruptured right Achilles tendon. No timetable is currently available for his return, but he is expected to make a full recovery. That’s great news for the for the, you know, for the long term. Uh hopefully, of course, we you know, Achilles injuries are some of the most dangerous that you can have in the entire NBA. Um and I I’m I’m kind of just at a loss for words. I was in complete shock last night. I was dropping fbombs, profanity laced rant when Jason Tatum got hurt. Uh this is just awful news there. I don’t think there is worse news that Celtics fans could ever get, but he blew blew out his Achilles and he underwent the surgery. Uh, now the the clock begins for his recovery. I need everybody on this video right now to show Jason Tatum the most love you’ve ever shown in the comments section. Type JT down below. Show him share your Jason favorite Jason Tatum memory. Like all all this good stuff, man. He has had one of the most successful starts to an NBA career in the history of the game. Go down below and type a JT to show your love to number zero. Look, man, devastated I is an understatement for me. Like Jason Tatum is my favorite athlete. I grew up a Duke basketball fan. I I got the notification when he was recruited as a number three high school recruit to go play for Mike Shasheesky in in Durham, North Carolina. I was at Jason Tatum’s second ever collegiate basketball game in Madison Square Garden against Florida. and now he tears his Achilles in that same building in game four of the Eastern Conference semi-finals. And you know, the Celtics weren’t going to win the game, but at the end of the day, the game four outcome means nothing at this point. Like the the the number one priority right now is is the long-term future and health of Jason Tatum. He is the franchise player. He is one of the faces of the league. Whether the haters like it or not, he is in these commercials. He is around. He is a recognizable figure in this league and somebody who has vaulted himself to be to be a top five overall player undoubtedly at this point. And in the minutes before he suffered this injury and went down, he was having one of the best games of his career. 40 minutes he scores 42 points on the road, eight rebounds. I couldn’t even fit the four assists he had on here. He had six stocks, four steals, two blocks. He was efficient from the field. He was lighting it up from three-point range. He had a little went a little cold in that third quarter, but he was having one of the best all-around games of his career. Jumping passing lanes, basically willing the Celtics to buckets because the Knicks were constantly getting more opportunities. It was one of the best games I’ve ever seen him play. It felt reminiscent of the game on the road in Milwaukee back in 2022. Um, it couldn’t have happened at a worse moment and in a better performance for this guy. And the worst part about it all is this could have been avoided. The Celtics could have been in a spot where they were in control of this game because they were up 14 in the in the in the third quarter. You had your back against the wall and one of the best players of all time to be quite honest with you. Had his back against the wall on Jason Tatum. And he delivered. He delivered time and time again. He delivers, but nobody else did for Boston. It it cannot be understated how important Jason Tatum is to the Boston Celtics. Look at the playoff onoff splits in 2025. So these are metrics on how good your team is when you were on the floor versus when you were off the floor based on net rating. Oh yeah, Jason Tatum best in the NBA. Best in the NBA for all of these stars that are currently playing in the second round of the NBA playoffs. Yeah, people talk about how important Joic is to his roster. Jason Tatum is surrounded by multiple allstars uh in his lineup and he’s still the engine that makes this Celtics team go. He’s irreplaceable for Boston. I mean, the numbers this guy has to his name historically are are just absurd. Jason Tatum tied Larry Bird and John Havich for the most 40point games in Celtic playoff history. He’s played 43 fewer games than Larry Bird and 51 fewer than Havich. He’s a generational player. And and you know what, this injury, like it’s going to open a lot of people’s eyes to really the greatness of Jason Tatum because, you know, again and again, he constantly is the most hated upon player for no good reason. He’s he’s a role model. He’s a great father. He’s a great basketball player. Plays the game the right way. Um he makes everybody better on the floor. It’s it’s unbelievable the the way that the the media and the public treats this guy. And and now it’s going to take a career injury for people to to open their eyes. And now we won’t but they won’t do that though for 18 months. They they won’t do it for 18 months. I was just talking with producer Alper before the show and I was like you know remember when Klay came back from his torn Achilles and how hype of an event that was like people made that appointment television for Clay’s return. This might be the biggest return in NBA history when he comes back. man. Um I am obviously very concerned about the long-term future of of what what player we’re going to get back when he comes back from this recovery of of a torn Achilles. But man, uh it is going to be one sight to behold when he does. And I I I can’t wait for it. Time’s already ticking. Um uh again, I’m still devastated. I’m still at a bit of a loss for words. And again, I don’t know if any of that’s guaranteed. like like Achilles injuries are insanely insanely complicated and very very difficult to come back from. Jesse Morse tweeted this out, a Twitter doctor, but not my favorite Twitter doctor. NBA players plus Achilles tendon tears and he cited this article that he uh that that he had in a couple screenshots down below and the these are some of the highlighted points that he had. Study from 2024, 37 players tore their Achilles from 1992 to 2019. The overall return to play was 78%. So four out of five guys are coming back. their careers are not over. The 31% of players though, so basically a third who returned to play were out of the NBA within three years. I don’t think that’s going to be the case for Jason Tatum. But the return to play is the highest playing level was highest. Yeah. Yeah. Highest in group B. They had they had a bunch of different test groups and and the conclusion is most players struggled to restore their pre-injury performance except for reserve players. And that probably has to do with the number of minutes that they’re playing and the amount of stress that they’re putting on their lower bodies and and that that is absolutely concerning. But we have seen recoveries in the past. Kevin Durant has come back and played it, you know, to top five level in this league as well. So I’m I’m very optimistic. It just comes at a terrible time with Tatum in his age 27 season. Look, this this is um this is what happens, man. Um life moves fast. Like life moves really fast. In a 24-h hour span, the Boston Celtics went from having a chance to go back-to- back championships for the first time for the entire NBA since 2018 to now being looking like a potential lottery team ne next year. We’ll talk about more uh this more later and as the offseason rolls around, but this team is not going to look the same in 2025 26. And that’s not just because Jason Tatum is not going is not going to be out there on the floor. It’s going to look very different. there’s going to be moves made and uh this team could not be in a spot to even be in the postseason next year. Uh I I I’ll save my opinion on that for later, but that’s the reality at this point. Life moves fast. The entire NBA landscape shifted in a 24-hour span. I wanted to go to a couple of quotes real quick uh on Jason Tatum and kind of the feeling uh in the locker room after the game last uh last night because uh I heard from multiple reports it was like one of the quietest locker rooms that anybody’s ever seen and you could hear somebody chewing on a mint. It was it was that it was that quiet. Here’s from Al Horford is what he had to say on Tatum. He said it’s very concerning just from the care that I have for him and what he means for us and what he means for Boston, what he means to us. It’s very tough for us, but more importantly, it’s really tough for him right now. It’s going to be really tough for him right now. This is going to be a very, very long and and treacherous road to recovery. No doubt about it. Jaylen Brown, when he was asked about if he spoke with Tatum after the game, he said, “We didn’t talk very much.” I felt like there just wasn’t a lot to say. And Brown kind of repeated over and over that he has no words there. There is there isn’t much to say. Uh it’s tough. Uh everybody’s thinking about Jason and and that’s that’s the bottom line. Um, I I also want to reiterate this point is nobody should be going out there and blaming Jaylen Brown. Freak accident play. Um, it’s a one ina million fluke injury and that’s the reality at this point. Can’t change what happened. There’s no reason to be blaming anybody on this roster for anything that happened like that. Um, injuries suck and they happen. Uh, just unfortunate that this one happened to us. Derek White said this. That’s our brother and you hate to see him go down. You know what kind of guy he is and it’s tough to see him go down. Obviously right now it’s pretty low. I guess talking about morale. Missoula said this. He’s the type of guy that gets right up so he didn’t and we’ll know tomorrow exactly what it is. Well, we know now. It’s tough watching a guy like him get carried off like that. Didn’t put an ounce of weight on his leg. Not one bit. Um, in the postgame as well, the Knicks showed a bunch of class. And I’ll give credit to Knicks fans as well on social media. Nobody’s really been taking their victory laps and dunking on the situation too much and all that stuff. It’s It’s mostly just been, you know, clown NBA fans making their jokes and stuff like that. People who are just completely isolated from the situation. Brunson and Cat also voiced their support for JT is guys who just want to compete at a super high level and against the best uh, you know, basketball players in the world. It’s It sucks. Brunson thought he rolled his ankle. Obviously, it ended up being way more than that. Cat talked about an injury that he had that was similar. This is his over a sucky situation overall. Like, we can’t do anything about it. Um, and and another reason that it really just happened to the worst guy possible is because Jason Tatum has been the definition of health his entire career, the definition of playing on a Tuesday against Charlotte on League Pass. He he he he gets up for every single game. He’s been the league’s iron man. Since he has entered the league, he has played in 92% of the games that he’s been able to suit up for. That’s it’s unreal. He doesn’t miss time. He’s never missed extended playoff time in his career. Like I think he missed the first playoff game of his career in um in the last series against the Magic. Like it was ridiculous. Like since 2017, nobody has more playoff minutes. Nobody has more playoff points. Nobody has more playoff wins. He’s the definition of a winner and he’s the definition of the best a ability is availability. No holes in his game. And again, I I I it’s mindboggling how how he’s the most hated upon player in the league. Doesn’t get hurt until now. First eight seasons for Jason Tatum. Third all time in playoff minutes played. There’s a lot of tread on those tires, man, for an eight-year career. And he’s continued to stay healthy. And like this is not something that has been the result of a lot of wear and tear on his body. He’s constantly been in tip-top shape in this league. It’s just a freak injury, man. That that’s what Achilles are. Like he didn’t even have any prior like calf issues. I know he’s had, you know, the tweak the ankle from time to time, but nothing that was looking like this would something that this was something that was possible. Again, freak injury. He he will he will bounce back. He will bounce back. And at the end of the day, who will he bounce back with? That is the next question that the Celtics have to ask themselves. Brad Stevens, what’s going to happen this summer? roster shakeup rumors which had already been ro roaming around and I didn’t want to get into it because they kind of came about right before the next series. I didn’t really want to get into all that stuff because we were, you know, trying to win a championship. I didn’t want to focus on what’s going to happen over the summer. But man, those just got accelerated. Roster shakeup rumors just got real. I I don’t even think they’re going to be rumors at this point with the cap situation with the second apron. going to be forced to make big- time moves and it might be better off blowing this thing up if Jason Tatum is going to miss all of 2526 and they’re not going to be competing for a championship. In my opinion, anyone not named Jason Tatum or Derek White is on the block. Sorry. I’m sorry. Anyone not named Tatum or White is is out there for me to to I I’d be fine seeing them go and the Celtics getting some new blood in here to to shore up their books a little bit and try something new. It’s unfortunate that this core only lasted two seasons, but at least they got a title out of it. They can never take that away from us. Let it out, Celtics fans. This is a therapy session. I want the comment section to be an open and honest um area right now because this is the darkest day in the last decade for the Boston Celtics at minimum. Uh probably the darkest day that I’ve been a fan for. And I I know there was a lot of, you know, raw reactions when when they they traded the Garnett and Pierce for the picks. This is a a guy that we’ve grown up with and and he is now going to be out of action for the next 18 months. So, let out your thoughts on the injury in Boston’s future down in the comments section. I want to hear from all the Celtics fans. I’ll be reading them. The only thing that I am concerned with at the end of the day is that Jason Tatum makes a full recovery from this injury, comes back able to play basketball at a high level over the next decade, over the however long his career is going to last before this injury. I want it to last at the end uh you know, after this injury. Like I I’m praying that he makes the full recovery. I’m praying that he comes back the same player. that none of that is guaranteed, but I’m an optimistic Celtics fan and and that that’s just where I’m at this point. The guy’s my favorite player of all time. Thankfully, thankfully, thankfully, they can never take away this. They can never take away the Larry. Um, thank God they got one. It is so difficult to win a championship in the NBA these these days. It’s even more difficult to win multiple. They couldn’t get it done this year. And yes, I’m already chalking up the series, chalking up a championship. They don’t have their best player. You see the numbers with them off the floor. Thank the Lord that they got that one ring. Banners fly forever. Make sure you’re subscribed to the channel. Um, didn’t want to push like anything crazy on the show today. Boston Celtics News Today comes with the worst news possible as the Jayson Tatum injury has been diagnosed as a ruptured right Achilles tendon after Knicks vs. Celtics Game 4. Celtics highlights were likely not going to be enough to have pulled out a win as Boston trailed by 9 with less than 5 minutes left, but the concern has quickly shifted to Jayson Tatum’s health rather than the outcome of the Celtics game or series. Jaylen Brown, Al Horford, Derrick White, Joe Mazzulla and Kristaps Porzingis each made comments in support of Tatum, who was on his way to one of the best games of his career. Jayson Tatum highlights in Game 4 were basically the only ones coming with any consistency for Boston. Now the Celtics must play without their best player and leader for the rest of the 2025 NBA Playoffs. 1. ❤❤JT..Take Care of Yourself..Not what anyone wants to see..You will Reflect and Enjoy with your Family and two Precious Children..You Know All The Days You Could Not Be With Them..God Is Behind You..Faith..Love..Will Prevail..Get Well Soon ..Sending You Lots of Prayers And Love. ❤

  2. Your an incredible person and basketball player. Praying for a speedy recovery. Also that you will come back stronger an better.

  3. I have enough common sense to know this is not good for us but I also remember being down 0-3 and pushed game 7️⃣ hopefully they play their hearts out for JT love❤#0

  4. Celtics should still try to go all the way this year, even without JT. But if all the injuries just happened at the start of the season and it was clear that the Cs were going to be a lottery team, maybe Lucky would have found a way for the Cs to get Copper Flagg. Maybe this is the basketball gods way of setting up a re-tooling for the Cs. They won't have JT for a season which could open up the development of players like Sheierman, Walsh, Peterson and Miles Norris. If JT comes back at 110% to a lineup with White, Brown, Pritchard, Hauser Sheierman, Peterson, Norris, Egor Demin, Michael Ruzic, Rocco Zikarsky, Ryan Kalkbrenner, Adou Thiero, Bogoljub Markovic and Andrew Carr, the Cs could be a bigger, younger, stronger team with tons of potential, a longer championship window and financial flexibility.

  5. JT is my favorite player, standing next to Larry Bird. I am Boston born and living in STL, and JT is the same age as my son. I was watching and praying for him like he’s my son. Sending all the love, prayers and good juju to him and his family. We faithful will be here waiting for you when you get back JT! Great human being, this just sucks for him. Basketball aside, we just want this awesome human to get well soon! We love you! ❤

  6. It is heartbreaking totally heartbreaking not cause I care about the ridiculous celtics 3 point style that would have brought then nothing BUT because Jason is such a nice guy classy , quite and in the prime of his career . I just hope he will be ok physically and mentally . Now all the haters will see what the celtics look like without him next year without him taking up all the attention so players like pritchard and D white can get open looks . I hope he can comeback near what he was because he was a hell of an athlete , honest it is just heartbreaking . At least he will be ok he dont have cancer he has money and a beautiful son . This will show the haters how good he was when the Cs finish below 500 next year. I just hope he dont come back like Clay Thompson who was a shadow of himself .

  7. No team has won back to back championship, but Celtic's were giving high hopes, even without qualifying for the finals, they were predicting how to take OKC in the finals

  8. My darkest day was when Larry Bird retired because we all knew that it was over. JT will come back and we all hope it’s in top form. If anyone can pull this off, it’s JT. I would add PP to Tatum/White as off limits as the kid is a real spark every time he plays. But I think the rest are certainly fair game at this point.

  9. Praying for Jayson Tatum asking JESUS to touch him and to heal him ..and that he may recover completely and fully very soon Asking In JESUS name 🙏 🤲 👏

  10. Hate the Celts but it hurts to see this kid get injured especially while he was strait up balling out man , im praying for the man

  11. i wanna let out that everyone hate the celtics and blame them but nobody blames the cavs getting smoke by wthehaliburton
