So, could the New Orleans Pelicans be trading for Giannisko this 2025 NBA off season? Well, here on the screen is a news item uh from Legion Hoops on X, which says, “Report the New Orleans Pelicans are quote keeping close tabs on Giannis’ situation in Milwaukee per scoop B. Quote, I’m told Zion could very well be on the table and a potential deal if Milwaukee chooses to explore trade options. And this of course would be for Giannis and Titakmpo. Now this of course was tweeted out before the news that came out today, but Sham Shirania came out with a report that the Milwaukee Bucks could potentially be parting ways with Giannis this off season as Giannis is exploring his options elsewhere. So if Giannis does ask for a trade, which could very well happen this off season, the Pelicans are a team to keep an eye on. Now, in my personal opinion, I don’t see a world where the Pelicans would just make that much sense from a basketball perspective, uh, for Jonathan Takoupo, especially too if Zion were to be involved in a trade heading back to Milwaukee. What would be the point of the Pelicans doing this trade? Now, you can make the argument, and it’s not much of an argument, but Giannis would make this team better. Even if Zion heads the other way, this Pelicans team, objectively speaking, would get better. But why would Giannis want to go from Milwaukee to New Orleans? To me, it doesn’t make a ton of sense. I think if Giannis wants to go elsewhere, he would want to go want to go to a contending team. Um, in my personal opinion, now Giannis going to the Pelicans would be pretty intriguing because the Pelicans actually do own the rights to Milwaukee’s draft picks. I believe in 2026 they have swap rights as well as 2027 if I’m not mistaken as well. So, if the Pelicans want to sort of give back the draft rights uh to the Bucks own draft picks to themselves, I guess this could make sense. I think the Pelicans make more sense as maybe a third team uh in a Giannis trade where those draft picks could potentially be heading back to Milwaukee. Cuz think about this, if Giannis gets traded to the Bucks, the Bucks might just want to blow up this roster. They might want to rebuild completely. And if you want to do that effectively, you have to have the rights to your own draft picks, which in this case uh they would have if they were to get those back in 2026 and 2027. So, I think a trade would probably look something like Giannis plus those draft picks heading back uh to Milwaukee with Giannis of course heading down uh to New Orleans. But to me personally, it doesn’t make a ton of sense from a basketball perspective. But that’s just kind of the latest news that’s being reported out. I’ll leave all your guys’ thoughts down below.
