You guys will learn soon enough that paying, and extending, a player who is way past his prime a max deal will only hurt you guys moving forward, especially with the way the new cba works.
I’m a Heat fan and have mixed feelings about Jimmy. On one hand, I’ll never forget all the great moments and deep playoff runs we had. On the other hand, the way he left us was sooooo immature and selfish. I get it, he wanted his money and he did anything to get it. Call me old fashioned, but there’s other ways of doing it than literally quitting on your team and throwing your teammates, coaching staff and organization under the bus.
Lastly, to the warriors fans. Just in case you haven’t really watched Jimmy throughout the last few years, here’s a quick summary. During the regular season he plays a very frustrating game where it seems like he’s disinterested and sleepwalking. He’ll do the bare minimum. He also takes a lot of games off, so you should expect him to only play anywhere between 50-60 games max. You’ll get maybe 1 legit superstar performance every 3-4 weeks. During the playoffs he definitely does perform better, but with every year that goes by it’ll be less and less.
Again, he’ll always have a spot in my heart, but he is 100% not worth a max contract and with the new cba, all any team can afford is really just 2 max players, so you really wanna make sure those 2 players are truly worth it
