DeMar DeRozan GONE… Raptors Named as a Landing Spot | Raptors News

Demar De Rozan is gone. Demar D Rozan is getting traded from the Sacramento Kings as they have a new GM. They have a new group running the show in Sacramento. And a recent analyst has linked the Toronto Raptors to trading for their former star. Now, this comes with some serious complications. And personally, while I love Demard Rosen, he’s one of my favorite basketball players of all time, this does not make sense for this Toronto Raptor team. at least here now at this point at least pre-Aiannis trade or pre a major major change incoming for this Raptor squad. So we’re going to break down what is being said regarding to a Demard Rosen trade happening the Raptors being linked to Demard Rosen and why this does not make sense right now. As much as we love Demardo Rosen, as much as it would be awesome to see him back in some Toronto Raptors threads, it does not make sense to have Demardo Rosen back on the roster, at least for this upcoming year, and he’s still good. He’s still a phenomenal basketball player, don’t get me wrong, but we’re going to dive into it all in this video. But before we do that, folks, again, you guys have been crushing hitting the sub button. We’re delivering all of the latest Toronto Raptors news and stories. So, make sure you guys hit that sub button if you don’t want to miss a single thing that’s going on with this Raptors team. But what’s going on? Why are we bringing up Demar Rosen here in 2025? But basically, news has come out that the focus uh in the California capital, of course, Sacramento, shifts now to what spot of dealing uh we could see from the King’s new regime. There has been no shortage of rumbles since the hiring of Scott Perry as general manager. that Sacramento is expected to gauge the trade market for veteran swingman Demar D Rozan. Now, we have heard multiple things coming out of the Sacramento Kings camp. This is the most recent thing that dropped today, but basically they want to make some changes out there in Sacramento in terms of everything that’s going on with their team, with their squad. And Debard Rosen is a very good basketball player. Don’t uh don’t get me wrong here. This season averaged 22 points per game, four rebounds, 4.4 assists. Even though he’s 35, going to be 36 next season, he is by no means washed. He had some big big games out there for uh Sacramento last year and frankly just has become one of the more underrated players in the NBA just because of the squads that he has been on. Demar Rosen was not the problem for the Sacramento Kings last season. They dealt with a ton of turmoil, a new coach, Dear Fox getting traded. It was a messy, messy year for Sacramento. And frankly, Demar Rose was one of the more clut clutch players out there in the NBA. So, Demard Rosen is still a phenomenal basketball player. Do not get it twisted. Do not uh get it, you know, switched up in your brain. Demar Rosen in a vacuum back on the Toronto Raptors is something that I would love to see. And frankly, it’s what uh some analysts are coming out and uh pointing to for this Raptor squad. Essentially, terms of top five destinations for uh Devarda Rosen. The Raptors were named as one of the top five basically by this analyst. And bringing D. Rosen back to Toronto would certainly appeal to long-term Raptors fans. And while he would prefer to compete uh for a team in the playoff chase, going back to Canada to finish his career could interest the man who will turn 36 in August. The big question is, would the Kings be interested in getting back a player like RJ Barrett in the deal? I mean, if RJ Barrett’s offered in this deal, you uh you absolutely run with it. You uh scream that you just absolutely robbed the league because RJ Barrett at this point right now is a much more valuable asset than Debart. I don’t care what people are saying about RJ Barrett at this point. Oh, he’s a guy that should be traded. He’s a guy that should be dealt or whatever. RJ Barrett is 24 years old, averaging 21, six and five, solid defense, knocks down threes at a high clip, shoots 40% out there from the quarters. RJ Barrett, I’m sick of the disrespect of him getting tossed out here in these deals. So again, to make the money work for Demard Rosen trade, yes, RJ Barrett has to be in one of these package. I’m not saying you primed RJ Barrett’s the level of a prime Demard Roa. I’ve seen some people be able to make that argue. I mean, I don’t think it’s that crazy in terms of, you know, something that’s a stupid, but Demar Rosen now at 3637 trading away RJ Barrett from him who makes a similar amount of money and a similar range deal. That is idiotic. That is just bonafide dumb. It doesn’t make any sense to the Toronto Raptors to, you know, even consider, even contemplate that type of trade package in terms of things are going. Archie Barrett’s a better shooter. We have a lack of shooting from our star guys out there on this team. Demard Rosen works from the exact same areas on the basketball court as a Brandon Ingram. Demard Rosen’s fit with Ingram, fit with Scotty Barnes, fit with Yaka Purle. It is not optimized for what this team is able to do. RJ Barrett, while he’s not the maybe perfect stylistic, he can knock down threes. He can knock him down on high clip. Still slashes, can facilitate a little more like RJ Barrett just makes way more sense out here on this Toronto Raptor team as is. So that’s the first thing. Just logistically dealing away RJ Barrett or even Emanuel Quickley does make a lick of sense doesn’t make a lick of sense for the Toronto Raptors for Messiah Jury to actually go down no matter how sweet the nostalgia might taste of having Demard Rosen back on this roster and Dear talked about hey maybe uh you know I’d like to retire Toronto Raptor he talked about like the one day deal same thing Kyle Lowry did or well the same thing Kyle Lowry like said he hasn’t retired yet of course but you know retiring a Toronto Raptor that’s something he’d be interested in doing that’s cool that’s all well that’s all well and good. And so say, “Hey, maybe he get a couple seasons because he’s still been playing phenomenal basketball.” Demar Rosen wants to be back to the Raptors. Maybe we bring him off the bench. Maybe we put him in that position. Well, even then, that doesn’t make a ton of sense for the direction of this Toronto Raptor squad. Why? We are loaded at Demard Rosen’s position. You know, Grady Dick averaging 14.4 points per game is only 21 years old. You are sacrificing the development of Grady Dick if you have Demard Rosen out the roster. And while yes, Demar Ro isn’t certainly the better player right now in the short term, he is 35, 36. You know, the Grady Dick’s 21, he developed him. And while yes, Demar is a better player, Grady Dick’s skill set is more apt for what the Toronto Raptors need. He can spot up, shoot from the three-point line, shoots a high volume of three-point shots. You know, he could slash a little bit. Like Grady Dick is kind of the style of player that compliments a Scotty Barnes, an RJ Barrett, a Brandon Ingram, a Yakaporto, all of these guys very, very well. So, you don’t want to sacrifice meds from Grey Dick, but it’s like, okay, you can have a couple wings off the bench. You have Jacobe Walter as well, the rookie that really surprised a ton of people on this team, you know, knocking down three-point shots himself. The back half of the season, Jacobe Walter was an absolute demon out there off the bench for the Toronto Raptors, starting in some games. You know, nine points per game on total for the season, 3.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists, but, you know, pretty solid out there as a as a shooter, as a slasher, doing all this stuff. And frankly, the end of the season looked really, really good for this Raptors team. Again, 20 years old fits the timeline is in that development stages. We don’t want to give up on the development cuz of course we’re not going to trade any of these guys, you know, Demar Rosen package. Just give it to Bar give it his age and everything like that. But you were sacrificing development. You were sacrificing everything the Toronto Raptors have been through over the past year and a half because yes, it’s not going to culminate in terms of a Cooper flag or, you know, one of those top overall draft picks. We’ve come to that realization now with the lottery and you know the Raptors not going to be bad enough to be in this position ever again I’d imagine unless there’s a bunch of injuries next season the Raptors are not going to be in that spot to get a Cooper flag or anything like that next year you know Cooper flag caliber player but so you have to develop the guys in house and if you sacrifice what you’ve been building the last year and a half because what’s the value of all the losing the value of all the losing is we have you know guys like Jamal shed the shed heads are allowed to culminate because you know he gets a full season of actual development a full season of actual run. You have Jacobe Walter even despite injuries getting in a position where he can play. Grady Dick getting a run, get some extra positions, extra touches to develop his slash a game and all that stuff. You are sacrificing that Messiah Jerry if you end up making a trade for Demar De Rozan. So, not only does the trade package not make a ton of sense, you know, giving up RJ Barrett in one of these deals. Now, it seems like RJ Barrett’s getting thrown around trade talks willy-nilly. So, maybe Dear’s better than what we’ve heard, you know, in terms of other packages. But frankly, I am not that enthused. I am not that optimistic about, you know, Demar Rosa trade happening right now. Now, if the Raptors roster turns on their head, they get Giannis, their deplete of assets, you get Demar Rosen on the cheap, do it right. That’s a position where I’d love to see Demar Rosen back because, as I mentioned, he is still a phenomenal basketball player. Do not get me wrong. I’d love to see Giannis on this team. We are back in championship contending window assuming we don’t, you know, trade our entire roster to get him. So you you bring back Demar Rosa under those circumstances. That is something cool. You know, you keep most of your roster there at this point. You keep uh you know, you bring in Giannis and you still have a Brandon Ingram, you still have one of Scotty Barnes, Emanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett, whoever the heck it is. You have the young cohort, you have all these things. You then you do a cheap trade of Demard Rosen. You make that happen. But other than that scenario or something similar along those lines, it’s not the right time for Demar Rosen to come back. as much as I love him as a basketball players. But let me know what you guys think about all this in the comment section down below. You guys best to make this far. Subscribe to the channel if you guys haven’t already. Anyways, I’m signing out.

The Toronto Raptors have been steadily building up their assets and developing their young players, and a couple of recent developments completely change how we view this team going into next season! Ben Rogers breaks it down.

  1. Would be nice to see DeMar back. He would help the you ger players a lot but as another poster has mentioned he cannot take over the team. I could see his jersey in the rafters.

  2. Honestly I'm down for the giannis trade but Demar will ruin our future even if it would feel nice to have him home to end his career

if he took a huge paycut to be a vet then sure come on by

  3. If he signed a one year deal at the end of his career I’d be happy. But we already have Scottie, RJ, Ingram, Gradey, Jakobe, Ochai we’re pretty good on wings

  4. I would love to see him back (as a FA acquisition) for a farewell tour with the Raptors, but I don’t want to trade for him.

  5. TY Derozan for your time on the team but this is a hard no to me. If your putting RJ out there it needs to be a package for Gianis. Derozan is a lateral move at best and giving up 11 years of age, no ty. You trade Grady for Derozan you are going to make the fans feel pain for decade or more, no. A team that makes deal like this is a playoff team seeing if they can take it to the next level think the Cavaliers who underperformed in the playoff and need to shake the team up to extend their window. What is the point of the Raptors doing this trying to get back to the playoffs. Derozan gets us to the playoffs retires and we are back as a team struggling for the playoffs again.

  6. I think that’s a reporter just spitballing

He’s 22m and the Raptors are up against the cap

We don’t have enough $10 million-$20 million players that makes sense. And there would have to be a salary match component. So you’re trading RJ or your trading Jakob and I don’t see either going out the door for Demar without taking two first rounds from Sacramento in the deal. And they have them.

I agree with Ben. I don’t wanna trade RJ at all and I don’t think that there’s any legitimacy to complaining about him.
There’s just one problem. We have way too many wings. I would argue. We don’t need to make roster minutes available for Grady, Jacoby and Ochai just yet maybe next season after this one. But the day is coming. And with both of Jacoby and Grady expected to take big leaps this off-season it’s not crazy to suggest that moving RJ has some value, but not for Demar

I would suggest that Demar will be a Toronto raptor again for at least one season maybe more I would like to see him at the end of his deal with Sacramento in two years take on a more impactful Garrett Temple like role

  7. Demar was never phenomenal… He has a lot of talent, but he never had the ability to be the guy on a team to carry them over the hump, and also could not be the second best player on the team because he needed the ball in his hands all the time. Sorry to say unless he takes on a support role somewhere he will never win a title.

  8. I agree i like RJ, but due to his serviceable nature, a young guy with decent stats is a trade chip. I dont like it but its the truth
