I Absolutely Love This…

I Absolutely Love This…

I absolutely love this is ever since the Toronto Raptors were locked in at the number nine overall selection in the NBA draft. Common Malawatch has been at the front of the fan base’s mind. Not just because he is a guy that’s well connected to Messiah Jerry in the NBA Africa program. Not because the Raptors are in need of another big man despite having Olar Shamsh out there in the wings developing, but because this man has extremely high upside. He’s a guy that should fit in very well. And as more and more reports, more and more information has come out over the past couple days through the NBA draft combine, common malatch has jumped out to me as a piece that would be absolutely perfect for this Toronto Raptors team. Not just because of some of the reports, but some of the videos that have come out and frankly the personality fit. So, we’re going to break down everything that’s come out regarding Common Malawatch and frankly why I’m very excited not just about him as the prospect, but more importantly the Raptor’s availability of actually getting him at the number nine overall selection as there’s a contingent of the fans have kind of written him off falling to ninth, whereas a lot of information is stemming to the fact that he is very likely to be available at that number nine overall selection. So, lots of stuff to break down out here in this video folks. You guys have been crushing it. hitting that subscribe button. Getting very close to 18,000 subscribers. You don’t want to miss a single thing going on with this Toronto Raptor team. Trade rumors, reports, draft updates. Make sure you guys hit that subscribe button cuz we’re delivering it all out here on the Raptors Digest. But let’s dive into it because common malwatch, if you’re not familiar with him, he is a prospect out here for uh you know, played for Duke 72. He’s a solid shop rocker, rim protector. He’s mobile for a big man. Colatch is just a piece that coming into the Toronto Raptors team at that center position, a position of need. You know, we were running Orlando Robinson, a mix of him, Colin Castleton at the back of five this past season. He is a guy that would fit a positional need, he’d had an extremely high upside and frankly as a defender especially has shown a lot of potential and frankly he is a piece that uh you know has been on the mind of a lot of Toronto Raptors fans for a very very long time. So, the first update which had some Raptors fans a bit concerned in terms of especially him being able to be selected for a team that’s outside of the United States. Well, we have some updates onto that as Michael Grange broke down a lot of reports. I’ll bring up some of his quotes here, but essentially the US Department of State revoked visas for the South Sudin passport holders over the last month and on the eve of the final four in retaliation of South Sudan refusing to accept citizens deported from the United States in a timely manner. So, that was according to the New York Times. While Malawatch who is in the US under a student visa and other South Sudin citizens haven’t faced deportation orders, the ruling does mean that for the time being Malawatch and other visa holders can’t leave the United States or re-enter and reenter the country under the current rule. Similarly, South Sudin passport holders can’t be issued visas on into the US. So that’s a whole political issue that’s going on that had concerns about Malawatch’s ability to travel, you know, across of course across the Canadian and US border. But according to leak sources, Malawatch also holds a Ugandan passport, so which should allow him to travel more freely. He was asked about this and he said, “I’m not really focused on that right now. I’ll let my agency handle that. Uh I let them handle that stuff and I focus on what’s important and what’s ahead of me and that’s the combine. I am focused on that.” So basically, apparently this Ugandanda passport thing is going to allow him to travel and move across the border. So that limits some question marks the Raptors had in regards to if you can only play half the games out there for the the Toronto Raptors, that would be a concern even if this is just a short-term thing. So that is something that is nice to get dealt with. But we have a lot of updates in terms of where he could actually be positioned out there in the NBA draft. As Grange put together a very sol art article and uh that’s an excerpt from it, but I found some quotes as well. But could his unusual basketball path lead him to hear his name called at number nine for the Raptors 6 weeks from now? The mock draft consensus says so. And I looked at a few of them and Grange is kind of right. Now there have been a few that have uh you know essentially been bringing up a few different pieces. So here essentially common malwatch while he was projected to go ninth he’s now flipped with Derek Queen at this point but you 8 nth that is very very close in terms of these selections here. Now at this point the Pelicans were a team that a lot of people were worried about there at this point but you know common malwatch is in a tight spot. Uh this uh from CBS Sports had him going directly ninth you know at this point and then we had another one that’s popped up with common malw watch at eight. So the Brooklyn Nets right now seem to be the team that all the mocks in any of those draft uh mock drafts the Nets end up being the team drafting him above. Now the Nets have Nick Claxton out there on their team. They’ve been pretty vocal about how they view Claxton as a piece for the future. So given their similar skill sets, given how Claxton’s still pretty young, I’d be surprised if they go in the direction of Malawatch instead of a Derrick Queen because Queen at least if they keep Claxton, is a bit more of a positional fit around Clax. Like Queen could run like a four and then Claxton the five or something weird along those lines. But I digress. I don’t see the Nets take him. The Pelicans be the team I’d be most worried about. But frankly, the Mocks don’t really have him going there. So I’d agree with Grange is saying it’s a realistic possibility. But basically, uh, it went on to say that there are plenty of reasons to make that connection in terms of him coming to the Toronto Raptors. The first of which is that the Raptors have a glaring need for depth at the center position behind veteran Yaka Purle. And Malwatch is projected as one of the best centers available, offering some plug-and-play paint protection defensively and rim pressure on the offensive end along with some still developing upside as demonstrated by the budding three-point range and fluid shooting stroke on display during the encourt drills Tuesday. So, if you didn’t see this, I had some clips pulled up, you know, showed them in recent videos, but Malwatch has been showing off not just a three-point shot, but also an off the dribble kind of kgesque long midi. Again, KG’s one of the best midi shooters, you know, at the big man position of all time, but you know, that same style of shot and, you know, practice is very different than in games, but the fact that he’s showing that skill set out there at this point in his career, you know, at the draft combine is very, very encouraging. So, that’s some exciting stuff. And Messiah Jur’s directly said himself he is looking for a player like this. You know in this draft we fall we’re going to be looking for the best talent available. It’s the answer everybody gives but it’s unique draft and we feel that we will have talented player available and we will try to get the one that fits our ball club. Yes, we do need another young big. We would definitely look at that but it’s not really what we are focused on to be honest. There are a lot of talented kids. So you know even though and again as Messiah should he is focused on getting the best talent available. he has directly named the center position as a spot that is a position of need for this Raptors team. So that is something to factor in here now at this point. And basically to build off of that, you know, Malwatch. Uh so this is where things I just feel it’s all coming together for the Toronto Raptors because it’s the most Raptors thing to possibly do. We all know the Raptors don’t like to leak things. They don’t like to let things come out and they tell players, you know, don’t let this come out if we’re really interested in you. And it’s easy for the troller Raptors for some teams to be like, “Hey, the Pelicans, the Nets, we know you want Malawatch. We know you want Malawatch. Let’s make a trade and you add an asset or something in order to get him.” So the Raptors are not coming out and being very overt publicly about their interest in him. And basically, this is a Tro Raptor thing. So Melatch wouldn’t reveal which teams he’d interviewed with, and the Raptors weren’t either. But some league sources I spoke with have suggested Malwatch is high on their radar, while others with the knowledge of the Raptors think they’re they’re pushing back on the idea. And again, this just screams to me the 4D chess Messiah Jury likes to play in terms of not letting stuff leak, not letting stuff come out and things along those lines. So, I very much uh like that stance, you know, coming out there on that front. This because again, if they interviewed him and they were like, “Okay, if he follows us, cool. If he doesn’t, he doesn’t.” You know, this fuels to me would be coming out and not saying like Derrick Queen is coming out and mentioning, “Hey, I had interviews with this team. I had interviews with that team.” And all that type of stuff. Mel, watch me be told this. Excuse me. The Raptors are just trying not to, you know, cast a shadow in terms of their interest in bringing him in at this point. So, uh, that’s something that I find, uh, very, very interesting out there at this point for this. And frankly, another exciting factor about this is that, uh, his teammates had very high praise for him. Cooper Flag came out and said that he’s a great kid. He’s a hard worker. He has a pure human being. I love him to death. He’s going to be a great wherever he ends up. He’s just a pure soul. Some people, you can just tell their intentions. Everything about them is just pure and common is one of those people. Everything about him is so genuine. He’s just a great person. It’s definitely translates on the court as well. He’s selfish and selfless and he’s about team first. So, you know, he’s a high character guys. His teammates love him and that is an awesome awesome thing. Again, we know Messiah Jerry likes to draft, likes to bring in high character people. So, common malwatch tends to fit that bill from what people are saying. So, that is a huge positive there. To end this off, I know there’s some push back because everyone’s excited about Olamche, the ability that he’s been able to provide out there on the the G-League, and so are the Toronto Raptors. So, this is one thing that should be factored in. Essentially, uh, basically I there’s a picture of Shamshit here. This is from Messiah Jerry. Messiah Jerry said this quote. I got to get better at making these graphics. But that leads us to Olish, who is one uh who has gone through the infrastructure in Africa, which was the academy, and came through that here. That was one of the big disappointments of the season when he got hurt. He was moving towards becoming one of the better defenders in the G-League. He was really learning the game and I think the hidden he’s the hidden one out of the rookies. He’s come off his injury now and getting right back into it. And I feel there’s very good upside. He’s still 18 years old or 19 years old there. When you see them at that young age have that work ethic, they have that kind of talent. It’s just something that’s going to take some time because it’s not natural uh they aren’t natural to the sport. So basically there’s still high praise. I don’t think if we draft Malawatch that Shamsh is completely written off, but that does have an effect. So you know there is some safety net if Malwatch does get selected before us, but it’s something to look out for. But let me know what you guys think about all this in the comment section down below. Do you want to see the Raptors draft Malwatch? Let me know. You guys are best thinking as far. Subscribe to the channel if you guys haven’t already. Anyways, I’m signing out. Cheers.

  1. He’s our guy. Plz plz plz Khaman be there
Please. I hope we don’t have to trade up to seven to get him.
I could see it. Maybe a pick swap in 2029 and a second round pick to move up to seven to make sure we get Maluach. It would suck to give up assets but he’s awesome. He’s worth it for sure

  2. Khaman is both a fit and a talent best of both, hope we scoop him, but are drafting is pretty ELITE! We got this!!

  3. carter bryant or khaman maluach. i hear praise for these two so im okay with either of them

  4. I would go with Noa Essengue or Asa Newell for the 9th pick and use our 2nd rnd pick via Portland on Maxime Raynaud!

  5. Draft or make a reasonable trade for him, he seems to fit our team needs perfectly. We also have a very hard time finding decent centres in free agency, so the draft becomes much more important in that regard.

  6. Pretty high on Khaman, Bryant, and or Queen. If anyone else happens to fall Tre Johnson would be elite as well for his shooting during the combine.

  7. It's a deep draft which is good for the Raptors. This may be the highest the Raptors will draft for awhile so they have to make this draft pick count. Brandon Ingram will be healthy. Scottie Barnes will be 24 and starting his super-max contract. It's not unreasonable to expect the Raptors to make the playoffs next year.

  8. New Orleans just drafted a 19 year old African centre last year in Messi. There’s no way they will
Select Khaman. They have their young centre. But I could see New Orleans saying they will take him to get more assets out of the raps

  9. Lol. I have said for months he would be a good fit.. but all I heard was flag flagg flagg.. again even if we got flagg we would still need a center.. To me a center was way more important. Funny how people are now talking about a center…

  10. Maluach and chomche Queen and chomche these aren't bad things to have developing behind yak. Same with fears behind quickley. Or kasparis. Demin and sorber long shots for me.

  11. You have to be the dummest of dumm to look past the TRUTH, just to draft a guy who looks good when he is on his own show casing himself, yet looked ho-hum vs. actual players – and the FACT that you will have to (AND HERES THE TRUTH) stash him away for a few years when you are ready (MORE TRUTH) to win today? Someone explain to me how Ritchie Cunningham running this channel and his 2 friends who troll me, think that a player for 2029 is what the Raptors need as a winning team going into next season? Why do you guys think that in a deep draft where there's oodles of talent available to help you today (on a team who needs more talent today) when you are ready to win today, do you think the best choice is a guy who is so underdeveloped after only 4 years of playing the game vs. Africans (less talent) one year vs. Americans, and that having him develop in the 905 at the same position they are developing another African player with little to no basketball experience (Chomche), is the best option? Someone make picking Maluach not sound so dumm?????? (and I'll say the same thing about these projects Bryant-Carter, Demin, can't be waiting) ..and don't argue Maluach has "upside" based on weak stats, height, and combine appearances – waiting for upside doesn't make your team better next year when you could use the help today to propel you vs. the other competitive teams!

  12. We start hyping up Kasparis that might b our guy or go ahead of Fears. He is our safety net i think if Fears Queen Maluach are gone and we left with Knuppel and Kasparis jaku is our guy.

  13. Washington New Orleans Brooklyn and us all have the same prospects to choose from. Knuppel Fears queen Kasparis maluach. We got to know who wants knuppel the most. Then its ez to figure out the rest.

  14. to the management of raptors bring in Kai Sotto to add more heigth he is 7'3 you can used this kid and a help to the team.

  15. I love your content but come on man I'm a duke fan his defense is not picture perfect like you're praising. Malauach is far from that 1.3 blocks a game is very low for a player with his measurements hes sti only 18 but he needs to get better on the glass and defensively he's a good lob option but far from a great defensive player still lots of holes in his game but I like this pick

  16. You’re going to be disappointed when maluach is taken a pick or two ahead of us. Hes not dropping to 9

  17. Unfortunately the Raps will be shit again this year. Time yo ramp up the 2026 draft commentary.

  18. To get khaman maluach Masai can’t stay at 9th, or maluach and his people would have to tell teams don’t draft me like Rich Paul did with Bronny. To move up we would likely have to trade someone like Agbagi and the 9th to move up a couple spots if we really value’s khaman maluach. While some people might be against this you have to understand Agbagi is a free agent next season and we can’t afford to pay him big money either way because of how much Quickley, Scottie, Ingram and RJ are already making. Derek Queen and Collin Murray-Boyles were horrible at the combine which might scare some teams away from drafting the Including the raptors. That likely make’s Maluach the top center in the draft. Anybody that thinks he’s going to be there at 9th is just hoping so or simply fooling themselves. If you want Maluach you have to trade up.

  19. Maluach will most likely be picked before 9th with how badly queen performed in the combine and i wouldnt want queen either, slow and undersized 5 with poor defense, only upside is offensively. Trust me i know masai, i predicted that he would draft chomche last year and this year if Maluach isnt there at #9 he goes for Cedric Coward, hes the dark horse of the draft, 6'6 guard with an insane 7foot2 wingspan, shot 72% in the combine shooting drills, strong switchable defender, averaged 1.7blocks per game. Monster of a starting unit would be IQ, Coward, BI, Scottie and Jak.
