Spurs land the 2nd pick! Capture the Flagg is still real? All-in for Giannis?

Spurs land the 2nd pick! Capture the Flagg is still real? All-in for Giannis?

Well, the lottery ceremony just wrapped up and oh boy, it was insane. All the conspiracy theorists and the NBA is rigged crowd are popping champagne this morning with their I told you so takes. The number one pick is heading to Dallas. Mavericks sitting at just 3% odds somehow leapfrog from 11th to first overall. It’s Zion to New Orleans all over again. Superstar bolts for the Lakers and his former team gets handed a shiny new lottery prize as consolation. But here’s where it gets really interesting for us. San Antonio’s own pick jumped into the top four, landing at number two. This wasn’t just some minor bump. The Spurs had the highest odds at picks eight and nine. Instead, they’re suddenly holding the most valuable draft asset they’ve had since, well, since they won two years ago. So, what does this mean for Spurs? And why do I think Operation Capture the Flag is still in play? Just look at Cooper’s reaction when they announce Dallas got the number one pickles allar. Now compare that to Victor Wanyyama’s reaction two years ago. [Applause] It’s obvious Cooper wanted to land with a Texas team, just not this Texas team. In one of a previous video, I broke down how Flag could leverage a return to college if a small market team won the lottery, forcing a trade. Sure, Dallas isn’t some poverty franchise, but the fact remains Cooper looked pissed when Dallas won the lottery. He definitely wanted to go to the Spurs and play with Wemi. I’m sure we still have a chance to see Cooper in Spurs jersey. San Antonio can offer an insane package to Mavericks, this year’s second and 14th picks, plus future draft capital. And don’t forget, San Antonio owns Dallas’s 2030 pick swap. Ball is in Cooper’s court now. If he makes his displeasure clear to the Mavs and outright refuses to suit up for them, this still could happen. June 15th, the NBA’s early entry withdrawal deadline. Until then, Flag holds all the cards. But let’s say Flag stays in Dallas. The Spurs are still in a perfect position at number two. Dylan Harper is the consensus second pick, a big physical guard from Ruters with star potential. Some scouts even believe he has a higher ceiling than Flag. But here’s the problem. The Spurs already have Dearan Fox and Stfon Castle in the back court. Does adding another guard make sense? If not, trading down to three or four where teams might covet Harper could net additional assets while still landing an elite young wing like Ace Bailey or VJ Edgecomb. Both of whom fit San Antonio’s roster needs perfectly. Now, let’s address the elephant in the room, Giannis Trade. With the number two pick in hand, the Spurs suddenly have the ultimate trade setup if Milwaukee decides to rebuild. Imagine this offer this year. Second pick, Devin Basel, Kell Johnson, or Jeremy Sohan, plus future firstrounders. That’s more than enough at least to get Milwaukey’s attention. A Giannis Webby front court would be the most terrifying defensive duo since Duncan Robinson, and it would instantly make San Antonio a title contender. But here’s the catch. The Spurs have always valued long-term flexibility. Would they really gut their young core for a 30-year-old superstar? My gut says no. Unless Giannis explicitly demands San Antonio. If Giannis is too expensive, Kevin Durant becomes the perfect compromise option. Phoenix is trapped in cap hell. And Durant, while still elite, isn’t getting any younger. The price would be much lower. Maybe Vassel Johnson and one or two picks and he’d be an ideal mentor for WBY. What makes this lottery result so fascinating is that it represents a philosophical crossroads for the Spurs organization. For two decades, they’ve been the model of patience and internal development. But with WMBB’s prime approaching and this unexpected lottery luck, the temptation to accelerate the timeline has never been stronger. Here’s what we know. The Spurs have all their future picks plus extras. They have one of the league’s most promising young cores. They now hold the number two pick in a draft with multiple potential stars. They have the cap flexibility to make major moves. This is the kind of position almost all other franchises would kill to be in. And it’s why the next two months might be the most consequential in recent Spurs history. No matter which route they choose, one thing is certain, the Spurs future hasn’t looked this bright since Tim Duncan was young. We might look back at this as just the beginning of an earthshaking time in San Antonio. The Spurs are no longer rebuilding, they’re reloading. And with WebMyama as the centerpiece, the sky’s is the limit. Buckle up, folks. This summer is going to be wild. [Music]

  1. Indeed, Cooper's body language during that ESPN interview screamed disappointment the Mavs won the lottery and he won't be playing with Wemby. But he could pull a Sarr and tell the Mavs he is not going to work out for them.

  2. Giannis does not fit the Spurs youth movement timeline. PLUS trading for Giannis causes salary cap problems for the Spurs in a year or two. Wemby-Castle-Fox are untouchables in trades. Too, the Spurs are not trading R.O.Y. Castle. Listen, Spurs fleeced the Hawks with the Dejounte Murray trade. Now they can fleece a team that desperately wants Dylan Harper, and that fleece steps up their win now timeline. It makes a healthy Spurs team a contender NEXT SEASON, and maintains future assets. Look, WITHOUT DOING ANY TRADE the Spurs could have a starting five of Wemby-Sochan-Castle-Harper-Fox; and coming off the bench is CP3, Barnes, Vassell, Johnson and the b/u Center the Spurs need.

  3. G-League Mitch Johnson as HC is a mistake. That will be seen by next season's trade deadline. I say he is a stop gap and Pop and Buford and Wright are targeting someone still under contract for another year. Monty Williams and Mike Malone will be gone, too.

  4. Why is all U catz alwtas bring in da Davis to La N Ne got gifted Zion but 4get or ignore that NE got Davis only Bx they gave Clippers Chris Paul years b4 that? So that 3 times a franchise player was gifted to LA N the following draft that teams gets #1 with a franchise replacement up for grabs. RIGGED!!!!

  5. Great name, great content : congrats !!! Whether Spurs trade (something around Flagg or Giannis) or not, the magnificient three (Wemby, Castle, Fox) will be the basis of a new Spurs dynasty and it's wonderful to be there 😉 GSG

  6. Don’t chase Giannis. His cost is too high. Use your picks and build something that will last more than 4 years.

  7. I think Mavs need a guard more than a forward even if Flagg is the concensus pick at 1.
What happens if Kyrie goes down again or after he retires?
Could they take Harper over Flagg?

  8. If spurs get giannis It's not just that they're getting one of the top 2-3 players in the league in his prime. They're also getting a champion, a model athlete with an addiction to hard work. Just imagine how much better everyone else will become.
&Giannis its not 35.but will see.

  9. Harper can make sense if they can find a good center. Wemby at the 4 would allow the flexibility at 1-3. All those guys are 6'3" or taller. I will not be mad at San Antonio if they draft Bailey at 2.

  10. Laughable draft package u proposed for flagg and we aint getting GA without trading anyone they want except wemby , ur delusional if u think castle wouldn't be the ask

  11. Wembys prime approaching? Lol not even close dude, Spurs need Giannis so they can wait for Wembys development he needs to play under 30 mis/ game

  12. The second pick plus 2 and future draft picks would be toooooo good for Milwaukee.
All the Spurs need to do after is to get a consistent 3 pointer and they will be set for a decade-long success.

  13. Bro, you’re reaching that’s just the kids demeanor just because a person doesn’t show any emotion that doesn’t mean they’re not excited. Just wait to draft night and then see.

  14. We are chilling in Dallas you spurs fanbois are just coping so hard because Adam didnt give you another top 1 lottery when you already got lucky with multiple hahaha

Cooper Flagg and his camp are reportedly "thrilled" by the idea of joining this playoff- caliber Mavs roster, per Givony.
"Though Flagg initially looked shocked by the results of Monday's draft lottery, sources told ESPN that his camp realized how fortunate he is to land in Dallas. Flagg is said to be thrilled by the idea of joining a playoff-caliber roster with strong veterans and a team that has a void at the small forward position. The Mavericks have a need for shot creators and will need Flagg to shoulder significant offensive responsibility as a rookie (similar to what we saw at Duke), which will be great for his long-term development."- Jonathan Givony

  15. Y’all need to chill out
Cooper is a good player but not as crazy as LeBron & Wemby or Melo back then💀

  16. don’t you get it, it’s already planned. Nico get rid luka, and now they win the lottery to get copper flagg and no matter what you say, cooper will be the no1 pick, its the same scenario for zion

  17. Yeah you're dreaming. Are you a mind reader? Are you close with Flagg? Also, how greedy can you get? You always want to have the first pick? Hope you're spurs suck

  18. Totally agree with this video. If Flagg does not want Dallas could he go back to Duke? Or even just let that be known so Dallas trade his pick to where he wants to go? How about a crazy 3 team deal. Bucks trade Giannis to Dallas for their win now window. Dallas trade Flagg to Spurs. Build youth & win soon window. Spurs send picks and minor players to Bucks for a Bucks rebuild. EVERYONE WINS! And yes to K.D if possible. Imagine Wemby, Flagg & K.D…

  19. Why would Flagg wanna go to the Spurs? Dallas is a better team at the moment and can probably end up in the playoffs next year. This logic that Cooper wanted to land with the Spurs is dumb.
