David Adelman Gives HUGE Aaron Gordon Injury Update Before Nuggets GAME 7 vs OKC

Um, is there any chance AG plays? Yes. Uh, just went through the walkth through uh game time decision obviously. Uh, but he fully was part of it, the game plan, uh, both sides of the ball. So, uh, Aaron can play, he will play. Uh, just like Mike has throughout these playoffs. Um, this is a different kind of situation. So obviously questionable uh but it’s nice having the full day yesterday day today and obviously the morning tomorrow. So we’ll see how he feels tomorrow. I have no idea. Was it surprising the way he was today or did you expect him to sort of be in the condition he was today? Uh he’s always the same. So Aaron kind of saunters around was his West Coast style. So you wouldn’t know if he was hurt or not. It’s what I appreciate the most about him. Very consistent with his swagger. Uh, so now he he looked normal. His emotions were good. So, uh, hoping he plays. Coach, is it hard then when you don’t know if that’s going to sustain having a backup plan? I mean, what are you going through there? Yeah, just like we did with Mike in the past, we didn’t know what he was going to play. Uh, different people stepped into those positions. Uh, you talk about plays you’re going to run early in the game, actions to attack people. Uh, some other guys took his ball handling responsibilities in case we go there. We know that’s where Aaron is so underrated and impactful is when he brings the ball up the court. Uh so the other guys have to know those simple actions. Uh but they’re not simple. He never done them. Uh so we walked through a lot of stuff today with different people having responsibilities, but like I said, uh the hope is the responsibilities will be errands. Uh that’s what we’re hoping. Could you tell the day made a difference? Yeah. Really? Yeah. I felt it mentally. Uh it’s been a long time coming. It was earned. You know, we had to get to a game seven to get a day. Uh, so that that was nice and we need it. You know, we’re playing a team, an historical team. Uh, game seven, a team 68 wins, the greatest point differential ever. Um, you know, all the things they’ve accomplished. I guess at this point they’ve won 75 games this year. Uh, so we need the rest to play a team this historically good. When you get when you uh come tip off time, can experience matter? that you guys have been through one just last series, game seven and and the last couple years you’ve been through the trenches. Yeah, experience matters. I’d rather not play multiple game sevens. I mean, I think that’s advantage them. Uh but yeah, like the feeling, I said it the other night, like the feeling of what could happen the first four minutes of the game, 6 minutes of the game, whatever it is, we felt it. We’ve had big leads in game sevens and lost games. Uh we’ve hung in game sevens and won them late. Uh, so obviously the Clipper series was its own thing. We got hot for three and kind of blew the game open. So we’ve been through all the different scenarios you could go through. I think that does help you, but again, they’re the number one seed. Like they’re the team that’s done all these things this season. So uh we got to do what we’ve been doing in this series outside of the last game. We got to hang early uh and then rely on our chemistry and the fact we’ve been around each other for a long time. That’s where experience can really help you. What do you think will be the key factors for how to how to win this game? Don’t turn the ball over. defensive rebounding and taking the first hit. And I’ve said this, I’m not trying to sound smug or it’s not just the first hit. It really is like three punches to start, man. I mean, if Caruso doesn’t start tomorrow, which they could go any way they want to, when he comes in, it’s a different game. Uh Kong comes in, he can impact the game. So, they go small. It’s like a different team. And so, you have to go through all those iterations, the first 18 minutes of the game, look up, and if you’re in it, you’re in a great spot. Uh but we know what they are. They overwhelmed people. we have all season long. I mean, this team 68’s a lot, man. It’s it’s the Bulls, it’s the Warriors kind of thing. So, uh, we know that if we can take that early hit and then all the fundamental stuff I talked about, like you stay in the game, then you have a great chance. I I know that, um, you talked about this a little bit earlier, um, but if Aaron doesn’t play, what do you do with your secondary ball handling considering that he’s been so important in this series and alleviating pressure on Jamal and Nola? Yeah, it helps that throughout the season, you know, CB was kind of our point guard for certain games, especially when Russ was hurt. I believe that was right before the All-Star break or around it. Um CB handled it really well. I trust him to do it. Payton Watson’s brought the ball for their second unit throughout the season. Uh a lot of the Jamal off the ball actions have been Payton initiating. And so, yeah, Aaron is a special player uh when he initiates. Uh but I think our guys have had repetition and sometimes this is what life is. uh opportunity comes sometimes you don’t want it to come and if he can’t go we have trust in those guys they get us into actions we need to get into um that’s we’re a team those guys have seen what the responsibility means and I think they can handle it how much do you think going into a game seven there are still adjustments on your end not theirs but on your end versus everybody knows what’s going on in the series yeah I think it’s weird you almost go back to early in the series because both of us are looking at the totality of the six games and what worked and what didn’t what you can go back to. There’s a couple ways they attacked our zone that was a little bit different. Um, and then us for us offensively, it’s like you’re just trying to get better. Even though it’s the last game, there’s still like these incremental steps as you go through the series of attacking the different coverages they’ve shown us. Obviously, with the depth of their team, they’ve had different lineups and that do different things well. Um, so yeah, there there’s always improvement and it sounds weird cuz you’re right, it’s just this is it, this is the end. Uh but to win a game like this uh you have to keep getting better day by day and that’s the most important thing going into you know the final game of the series with with Aaron there unlike Mike’s there’s a little bit more of a safety risk just with playing through that type of injury. What sort of is there a benchmark that he needs to get to by a certain like point pregame tomorrow to feel like it is safe for him to play on that and as opposed to just playing through it because it’s a game seven. You know what? I coach, so I’ll show up tomorrow if they say Eric can play. Um, obviously they’ll do whatever they have to do for the safety of a of a person, but um, yeah, like I I don’t know. I I’m sure the hoops are probably smaller because the game’s coming so quickly. It’s not a thing where he’s going has like 3 weeks to go through it. So, it’ll be probably be his comfortability along with the medical staff’s uh, you know, advice on what he can and can’t do. Uh, like I said, they say he’s available, he will start. You guys have been playing this series. How has that changed Nicole’s responsibilities defensively and just kind of overall how impressed have you been with with what he’s been able to do on that end? It makes you bigs are always in charge of communication. The zone is on a whole another level of communication. I don’t think people realize like watching BAM in Miami the responsibility of not being part of the actual play that’s going on, but you are the person that’s kicking people left and right. And we’re wanting the guys to be up the line and aggressive and take away passing lanes and all these things. Well, you have to have a really high IQ to know when maybe I have to full rotate to the corner, maybe I can kick somebody back out. Uh you’re you’re constantly scanning the ball like where the ball goes, you go. Uh so not just him. I I think uh Aaron’s been good in that spot. Uh you know, we we’ve tinkered with it a little bit, put people in different spots as far as who’s up and who’s down, you know, a little bit of 131 as well. So, uh yeah, he’s been great and it’s communication. It really is. It’s it’s it’s almost being the captain of that defense because the guys up top in the tandem dealing with Shay, they have no idea what’s happening behind him. So, that guy’s really important the center in that situation. Speaking of Sorry, speaking of, as you said, what what have you liked about your coverage of Shay this series? I mean, just do the best you can. He’s incredible. Just trying not to let him get to his spots is easy. Uh he’s so old school. He’s so, you know, the Kobe kind of thing where if he gets to a spot, it doesn’t matter how good a defender is on him. It doesn’t matter. He can rise up, shoot it, create separation how he does. Um so it’s just trying to beat him to his spots in a way. And if that takes two people, fine. If it takes three people to shrink, fine. Uh but yeah, he’s he’s such a incredible unique player. Uh it’s a challenge. It’s a reason why we change our defenses so much. It’s it’s mainly because of, you know, his brilliance. Is Jamal still battling sickness or is he good on that score? He’s sick. Uh but I mean, you know, it’s another day, another night of sleep. Uh you guys ask me a lot of medical questions here, man. No, I’m just kidding. Uh you know, he you’re right. He was really worn down after the game. I think yesterday getting the flu is another day of just kind of hanging out, you know, just staying at home, getting sleep. Uh, you know, today, tonight going to OKC, getting a good night’s sleep. Uh, you know, and his with the sickness, you kind of just slowly incrementally feel better. Plus, these guys will load him up, man. He’ll be he’ll be finally ready to go. Uh, he’ll be sweating out a lot of things. So, yeah. Thank you, coach. We’ll get Pton Watson in here right now. Thanks, guys. When you

  1. as much as we want AG play, but his health comes first!
this season we r so beat up,keep healthy, make some reasonable trade, get some decent 3D player,we r de major competitor next year still!
    Keep Joker Murray AG healthy,Coach!

  2. These people be lying about injuries… just like Jamal Murray is sick … lying their ass off! They do it for players sympathy and to make them look really good when they play thu it😮😮😮😮😮… I bet Arron Gordon will be the first one on the court…😮😮😮😮

  3. im not understanding why you would want watson to initiate offense over russ for second unit.. having russ as just a spot up shooter is why Russ is struggling to find a rhythm … even if he just brings the ball up the court, it helps him get into rhythm .. I understsnd you have to what can to win, but russ has been great this season at bringing the ball up the court and feeding jokic or spotting the open man… like on the game winner for 3 from ag; russ crashed forced them to give gordon space because of the pressure at the rim. Think about the games where russ was out there just facilitating and hustling without attempting many field goals.. put him in the dunker or let him the roll man in pick n roll.. also I would suggest him as the point of attack defender in spurts when he is on the court. Please utilize russ strengths, instead of relying on his flaws

  4. DA is fantastic. Love his media sessions. I hope AG can give us some minutes but if he can't I'm looking forward to PWat and Russ showing their defensive versatility. Russ is due for a great game!

  5. It’s a win or go home situation injured or not I feel AG would play. If he’s fr not playing I would make a gamble and put strawther into the lineup and move Mike down to the 4.

  6. This team lost their coach, GM, and several other important members of their organization 3 games before the playoffs. Making those changes in the offseason would be a lot for a team to adjust to. Right before the post season is INSANE & they're 1 game away from a western conference final against the absolute best team in the nba: okc. I've absolutely never heard of that level of adversity.

  7. You lier! Last time you said same for Jamal and he played extensive minute. Stop misleading fake news

  8. Why do Nuggets always get extra days off between playoff games? I am certain Golden State would have loved an extra day off to get Seth back?!!! So stupid and unfair!

  9. No Gordon? No worries. In MPJ we trust… right?
Kidding aside, do hope MPJ steps up if Gordon not able to play. Denver/T-wolves rematch is a must, and another championship too! Let's Go Nuggets!!!

  10. I hope my Nuggets win but if we don't ill be ok with us going home our teams need to rest and heal up we got 2 players with serious injuries and one player that is sick. Like I'm ok with going to the next round but at what cost? MPJ might not be here next season but I know AG will be so hopefully we make it all the way if he's gone play tomorrow.

  11. Go ahead and run Aaron and all the other starters … right into the ground.

    No bench … No championship.

So, coach …prove us all wrong.

  12. We need to have fresh legs at all times. Not only play Watson and Strawther, need to play Picket, Nanji, Jones and Alexander. And, instruct them to play aggressive with intensity. Also, Addleman needs to challenge the bad calls. The Nuggets are getting mugged and Addleman doesn't stand up for them. He IS NOT the coach we need on a permanent basis.

  13. If Curry didn’t play with the same injury then I know for sure he’s it playing either.. that’s a serious injury
