“Cavs are DONE!” – Brian Windhorst on Pacers DESTROY Cavaliers by 20-point in Game 4 for 3-1 series

And congratulations to Carly. Game four is now in the books, Cavaliers and Pacers. And this one was not even close. Midway through the first quarter, Ty Rees Hurtton draws the double team. Miles Turner, OB Toppen, Indiana Rolling. Later, Hiburton. Topen bangs home the three Indiana in front by Twill. Under 5 minutes to go in the first. Check this out. Benedict Mtherin hits Deandre Hunter. Hunter responds by pushing Mathin to the ground. The play was reviewed. These two got into it in game three. Hunter is teed up. Turner gets a technical foul for pushing Hunter. But Mathin gets a flagrant two as he should have ejected from the game but it didn’t seem to phase Indiana. Early second quarter leading by 23. Topen inside throws it down to extend the lead to 25. Later in the second. Andrew Nemhard like Cleveland had no answers at all. Very little resistance. Indiana up 24. Turner a spot up and hit the three. It’s a seven nothing run. Next possession, Hurton make it an 11 nothing run. The game was over at this point. Over. Next possession. Turner step back. You don’t know me like that. It’s a 14 nothing run. Next possession Turner. Bang! 17 nothing Indiana run. Indiana’s 41 point lead tied for the largest in NBA postseason history. Dodovan Mitchell, who’s been a one man gang in these playoffs, warmed up at halftime, but did not play the second half with a left ankle injury. Late third, toppen, Pascal Siakam. I mean, it had the feel of a preseason game. Ter dominance by Indiana in a game Cleveland, you can’t say they had to have, but boy, what a stunner. 129 109 the final. And not only did Indiana dominate the scoreboard in the first half, they also forced Cleveland into 14 turnovers. The same amount they had in the entirety of game 3. Indiana dished out 25 assists in the first half. most in any half of a playoff game in the last 25 years. Brian Windhorse joins us now from LA. Brian, we mention Indiana led by 41 at halftime. They coasted to the finish line. It could have been a whole lot worse. Why was tonight so onesided? Well, the one thing the cows were able to do in game 3 was they were able to slow the Pacers down. And that’s really what this series has been about. I know there’s been a lot of injuries and a lot of other things that have been ancellary to that, but really this has been about who controls the pace. The Pacers controlled it in one and two. They did not in game 3. You could tell very clearly that the Pacers came out in the opening minutes of this game saying, “We’re going to play at our pace.” Frankly, the CS were caught on their heels. The snowball effect started and Indiana had a great game. Look, here’s the thing about the Pacers. Since January 1, they are now 41 and 16. That is the pace of almost the 60 win team. I know it says four seed next to them, but they are not a four seed. They are better than that. They demonstrated that tonight just how high their top end is. I wanted to ask you about that. Look, you make a good point about Indiana playing well, but Cleveland is the one seed. They won 64 games during the regular season. So, to elaborate on that point, how big of an upset 3-1 and a dominant performance in game 4? How big is this right now? Well, first off, the most important thing for the Cavs is the health of Don Mitchell. He had been dealing with a c I know they said it was an ankle, but if you saw the video, it didn’t look like an ankle. I don’t know for sure it didn’t look like an ankle. He’d been dealing with the calf injury for the last 10 days, been playing huge minutes. So, that’s the biggest thing. What the hell the Don Mitchell is, the Cs and Pacers are not actually that far separated. I know that one team had in the high 40s and one team had the in the in the 60 uh whatever wins and you’d say they’re way far apart. They’re not they’re really not that far apart. It’s not anything to do with the cals. It has to do with the pacers. So you come in they’re kind of close then the Cavs suffer a rash of injuries. That diminishes their margin for air. But really you can get beat in any series by a team that gets hot at home. Indiana had a great game tonight but you get beat by 70, you get beat by 10. It doesn’t matter. The reason this is now 3-1 instead of 2-2 is because the Cavs botched game two. Historically botched the end of game two. Yes, the Pacers took it. Absolutely. They get the credit for it. But the Cavs let it go through their finger and now is that is why they are in situation where they’re facing elimination. Right. Took both games in Cleveland and take game four in Indiana tonight. And you mentioned the health of Donov and Mitchell obviously foremost on the mind of Kenny Atkinson who spoke about a post game. What can you tell us about Donan? Um, left ankle um left ankle injury. Um, he’ll get MRI tomorrow. So obviously there’s just not much more you can say as far as availability or I mean no idea. I mean you know obviously couldn’t go in the second half so um see what the MRI says. I imagine this would be one of those games where you don’t watch the um but what happened in the first half that just got away from I mean complete domination by them is really it’s kind of the story um kind of every facet it wasn’t like oh you know tactics or anything they they dominated us um in every facet of the game and that’s get a you know 20 point game or really 30 point game. Kenny, how did Donven hurt his ankle? I am not exactly sure. Um, and then we’ve talked about force and that I think is kind of what you’re getting at the first half wasn’t there. Why did you think you guys didn’t have that tonight? They dominated with air force. They were they raised their game to another level and we we didn’t match it. We we you know we talked about it. We knew it was coming. Um I don’t know. Um you try to prepare for these things. You try to prepare your guys mentally but um for whatever reason they they like I said they were another level. Their force was um um greater in every sense. Every there wasn’t like well this aspect of rebound I thought it was rebounding. Um you know physicality we were running our offense at at half court. You know they had us they had us pushed out couldn’t get to our spots. Um it was really kind of physical you know physical domination. What was the message going into halftime? Obviously, it’s a shell shocking feeling. Listen, you you know, I I try to turn positive. Let’s pride, you know, um compete um composure cuz I didn’t want it. I didn’t want it to be about the referees, you know, it’s it’s not about that. Um, you know, so one of our guys to keep our composure, compete with class, right? Um, and then, you know, stay together. That was basically the message. All right. So, Brian, a blunt assessment there from Kenny Atkinson who circled back to the word dominant or dominance many times when talking about Indiana’s performance tonight. For Cleveland, the injury now to Donovan Mitchell on top of Darius Garlin and Evan Mobile not being 100% here. How would you characterize Cleveland’s chances for the rest of the series given all of that injury news? It’s all about Don Mitchell. Um, and again, the CS say it’s an ankle injury. I’ll I’ll listen to what that says. If you watch the video of when he pulled up lame, he didn’t even get airborne. So, you could tell he was concerned about that. So, that is going to be everything. There have been many championship teams that have gotten wallped in a road playoff game because the other team plays, the home team plays with great energy and enthusiasm and aggression. That happened tonight. The Cavs are not down 3-1 because of what happened tonight. Again, the CS are down 3-1 because of what happened in games one and two in Cleveland, especially in Cleveland. That was a game where they were missing their three-injured players. That was the game they absolutely should have won. And it’s just an illustration that especially in this NBA postseason, these teams are all very, very close. The margins are very narrow. You can throw the seeds out the window, frankly, in both conferences. And so, the Pacers are playing excellent, excellent basketball. You’re going to have to play at a very high level to beat them four out of seven times. It’s their strategy. They are designed to wear you out. We saw them do it against teams last year where they wore teams out. Teams ended up at the end of playoff series. All banged up and injured. It’s happening again. This is their strategy. This is what they do. And they may be the well they’re one win away from getting another shot in the Eastern Conference finals. That’s right. Rick Carl’s team has a chance to close things out in game 5 Tuesday back in Cleveland whereas we said they won both games one and much more coming up on Xin chào các bạn nha. 1. Man look I like the direction of where Cleveland is going. This team is still young I question the leadership in the locker room . But they need to run it back next year it take a couple years to win a championship.

  2. "One team had high-40s in [season] wins." Uh, no. The Pacers had 50. Tell us you don't watch them with telling us.

  3. Before game 4, everybody & they mama was rooting for the CAVS, DONAVON MITCHELL THIS THE CAVS THAT NOW EVERYBODY WATCHING THE PACERS EMBARRASSED THE CAVS.

  4. Time to move on from the Garland ….Struss and Jerome experiment. Every high level team in the nba has point guards that are consistent on a night to night basis.
