Now, from the 76ers perspective, they are getting back two pretty solid veterans in the form of Chris Middleton and Marcus Smart. Uh, both of these players are obviously not as high-end as Paul George. Um, like from an individual perspective, but could these players actually make the Sixers better and a little bit better um in regards to the depth department? It very well could. Like Chris Middleton’s definitely on the back nine of his career. The same could probably be said about Marcus Smart as well, but these are two players that have been on lengthy playoff runs. In the case of Chris Middleton, he’s won a championship. Marcus Smart, one of the better defensive players in all of basketball. This could actually bring the type of identity that the Sixers are kind of looking for if they want to go ahead and change up their uh their current core and maybe go with a different direction for the foreseeable future. So, I think Chris Middleton could definitely thrive with once again a change of scenery. Perhaps him getting traded last year kind of disrupted the season. Marcus Smarts kind of bounced around as well, but this guy is a locked down defender. So, they’re both older players. They’re both older players, but uh I think the Paul George experiment definitely didn’t work out in year one. Could it work out in year two? Very possible. But this might be a good chance for them to sell relatively high. But if you’re the Wizards, you’re actually getting Paul George at a bit of a discount. Plus, a future first round pick from a team that has Kawhi Leonard who’s often injuryprone. And realistically speaking, what’s this team going to look like in like two or three years? There’s a chance they might be a lottery team. So, if you’re the Wizards, like this is a chance for you to buy low on a superstar player. Perhaps Paul George goes to Washington, uh, kind of like what he did with Oklahoma City and Indiana and some smaller markets and just thrive. And a first round pick is a bonus. So, I think for these reasons, it actually does make sense for both teams. I would probably lean more towards the Wizards winning this deal just because of the upside of Paul George plus the draft pick.
